I've been told many times if you see a Buc-ee's you have to stop in, and that was sound advice. This is like the Disneyland of gas stations - if that can even be described as a thing. So many things happening in this place - people making fudge, candied nuts, all kinds of jerkee; a huge BBQ station where employees shout out every time they either make or sell a sandwich? All kinds of fun merchandise - from clothes to shoes, to toys - a full gift shoppe. Employees are amazing - engaged, kind, energetic - definitely seem to care about what they do. Management salaries are posted out front for hiring purposes - pay is real high which is great, but even better, seems like those managers are doing a great job leading employees for that $$$ So, if you ever see a Buc-ee's I recommend you go in and see it - it's pretty hard to explain but it is quite something. read more

Visiting friends in Austin, they told me my trip wouldn't be complete without a stop at Buc-ee's. Naturally, I asked them to describe it. Their explanation? "It's a BIG gas station that sells EVERYTHING." And if I was lucky, I might even see Buc-ee in the flesh. Lmao. I'm always down to try something new, so off we went. To say I was overwhelmed is an understatement. First of all, this is not just a gas station it's a full-blown destination! Lol. I've never seen so many gas pumps in my life! Then you walk inside and it's absolute sensory overload in the best way possible. There's a whole brisket situation happening, fresh-made tortillas, a gazillion candies and snacks, fresh fudge, corn pops, an entire wall of jerky, and yes... a Buc-ee's clothing line. Ahahahhaha. Hoodies, pajamas, mugs, seriously, the beaver is everywhere!!! This place is massive! Like Costco massive. Lol. But the true star of the show was the Buc-ee mascot himself because I was lucky enough to meet him and get a photo-op. Iconic! That alone made the stop worth it! I walked out with several snacks and zero regrets. If you're visiting Texas for the first time, it's a must-stop experience. One of better Buccees locations for your road trip between Houston and Austin. Just outside Austin so we typically refuel the car and fill up on snacks on our way to Houston. Pair this location with the Katy Buccees from Houston on the way to Austin. The Giddings Buccees is more centrally located but it's tiny so you don t get the full experience. This is a nice large location with a number of pumps and a wide variety of food inside. The brisket sandwich is always a solid choice. A number of icee flavors for the hot weather. read more

We immediately returned to the same cashier, who called over the night manager, Mary Ann. Mary Ann made me walk back to my car for the receipt--completely pointless--then refused to exchange or refund the item, claiming it wasn't "resaleable." Are you kidding me? The locket was broken when sold! Her attitude was rude, dismissive, and a total waste of our time. What happened to "the customer is always right" and Texas hospitality? Buc-ee's makes plenty of money, yet they couldn't replace a $15 item for a little kid. Absolutely ridiculous. This was not just disappointing--it was insulting. I have been to this Bucees location probably more than any other (if not the one in Lying) and expected to order a burrito via kiosk only to find the kiosks are gone. Disappoint. I am from California, and when I first heard about Buc-ee's, I had a hard time wrapping my head around the concept of it being a gas station and convenience store. This place is like the Disneyland of all convenience stores!! The place is the CLEANEST any place could possibly be (even the bathroom was hands down the best public restroom I have ever been in ANYWHERE). I took a video to show how large it is, how clean it is, and what you don't see is that each stall is like its own private room with two hand sanitizers in each one. Everything is organized and labeled, and I think I could get lost shopping in here. We stopped to use the restroom, but I couldn't avoid snagging a brisket breakfast taco and some sweet tea before leaving. It was absolutely delicious. The tortillas from the factory are so fresh! I am just amazed at this place, and wish we could have spent more time here, but I will now always search for one of these when traveling!! read more

Buc-ee's is the ultimate road trip stop. Like the saying about Texas, everything's bigger here. Buc-ee's does a great job building anticipation with teaser billboards long before the exit to their location. Got some gas (not for commercial trucks though), used their bragged about clean bathrooms, and shopped for souvenirs. Sadly, our time was limited so I wasn't able to buy food or snacks, but I browsed the huge Buc-ee's clothing and merchandise section. I saw a long case of jerky, and in the middle of the food section, hot sandwiches, including brisket naturally, If you're lucky you'll meet Buc-ee walking around the store. At the very least you can take a photo with the metal statue outside or in this store, the indoor trucks with Buc-ee dolls in the open bed truck. They sell other items you'd shop for at a mass merchandise store like housewares, books, Prices tend to run high but food ones are more reasonable. Employees get paid well here, as noted on the hiring signs, with benefits. Too bad the girl who rang me up, Stephanie, was rude and condescending. They don't have a website or answer phones (!) and I don't know when I'll next be at a Buc-ee's but I follow them on social media and live vicariously through the fan posts. read more

I was just at Buccees in Hillsdale Tx, when I met the manager Sean. I had my 2 small Pups in tow and he grilled me about their status. I had no problem leaving- so he lost my sale but he was over the top rude. Buc-ee's is a no a place to visit in and of itself. The number of visitors that come and all but one have asked to go to Buc-ee's. Since the Bastrop location is the closest one to Austin, I've become pretty familiar with this one but they're all pretty much the same: a bunch of gas pumps, huge shop that's roughly divided in half where it's snacks and other rest stop staples and the other half is Buc-ee's and other Americana. Somewhere in there will be a photo op with the man(?) himself and a wide selection of jerky, fudge and a breakfast taco if you make it in time. I even end up getting stuff to send out to people who have heard of the Buc but never had the opportunity to experience it themselves. read more

What's a road trip without a Buc-ee's stop? It was a Sunday, so I knew it would be busy. They always greet you when you walk in which is a nice touch. The bathrooms are always clean and the lines move fast. I grabbed a coffee, a sausage egg and cheese biscuit, and some water for my doggo. I hopped back in the car and shared the breakfast biscuit with my BFF. The breakfast sandwich was top notch. The biscuit was flaky and buttery. The eggs were light and fluffy. Best thing whenever I drive by Bastrop!!! Huge place and yes, with clean bathrooms. Plenty of things to shop for when you're here. I do want to highlight their jerky. They have fresh and package options with wide range of flavor selections. My favorite would be Mesquite (more basic and dryer) and Korean BBQ (has sesame seeds, sweeter and softer). They offer samples as well so if you want to try, please ask. Kolaches are great as well for a snack on the rode. One thing I don't really like is they don't display gas prices . I do want to know if I'm getting cheaper or more expensive gas. read more

After hearing so much about this darn joint, I felt like it would be a disservice to myself if I didn't drive an HOUR from my airbnb to get here. I came with a friend, and there was a great deal of people here, from locals to tourists. It's exactly what I expected, and I was still blown away. After making our rounds up and down the aisles, we settled on some brisket, a philly cheesesteak burrito, some fresh chips, and beaver nuggets, naturally. Everything was so great! The brisket was...way better than gas station brisket has any right being. The burrito was just cheese, meat, and peppers. I feel like that's really hard to argue with. Probably my most frequented Buc-ee's location. Never not busy here and they keep the foot traffic moving to a manageable level through organization and communication between employees. The bathrooms are always clean and spacious, and there's almost never a line to get to a stall. If there is, the line moves quickly, and it's a much better experience than any other gas station stop. Love the merchandising layouts at this location always. The art selection on the bathroom entrance walls at this location is constantly changing but always stunning. All in all the Bastrop Buc-ee's has never disappointed me over the years. read more
