The Whoop Stop is not as fine as it was in its heyday. The signage has lost its luster. The bonfire stack is overgrown. The interior could use a good once over too. They were well stocked and the staff was friendly. And sometimes that is all you need on a road trip. read more

Clean bathrooms, friendly staff, FENCED IN area for dogs to potty (as well as a huge field behind the station if you want to let them run about) I can't really put my finger on it but this place just has good vibes, and every time I'm in there it feels like a little piece of home. read more

The signs went up on the NEIGHBORS property, ACROSS the street around Jan/Feb. 4. If you searched for a webpage it shows one thats been INACTIVE for years, not having a pass word has kept it going without any changes. Heads up!! We had seen Whoop Stop on our way to College Station before. We decided to stop today for a Restroom break. Women's Handicap stall had no toilet paper. ( good thing I carry tissues when we travel) There was soap to wash your hands but there were no paper towels to dry them You must buy something from the store to use the Restroom. . I saw an O'ma Coconut mini pie, so I decided to try it. I opened the pie once we got back in the car. The pie was STALE! I looked at the expiration date. The pie was 4 days out of date. Whoop Stop should not sell out of date foods. Needless to say our first experience at Whoop Stop was not good. Just a warning Don't get caught up with the name.:( read more

New "to-go" containers that are fancier and keep the meals fresh (without condensation stuff), better quality food items (they have AWESOME bacon), and the buns are great! What an AWESOME find!!!! Looks like Nothing Great from the outside, but Man what a meal. From the incredibly Tasty "Triple Bypass Burger" which puts all the meats together: Burger, Brisket, Pulled pork etc. with there special BBQ sauce, to the home made cole slaw, and Lemonade that wasn't too weak or too strong I can't say enough. I wish I didn't live over 1000 miles away, I'd certainly be a regular. It's SOOOO clean and the atmosphere is nice with big picnic tables to sit comfortably. The service was very attentive, prompt and friendly! I wish I new there was Chili. I'll have to try it the next time I return to the area. 2 BBQ'd finger lickin' Thumbs up. I would drive from College Station to Austin about twice a month, sometimes more, and always stopped here. The staff here are SO nice! They always always always say hello and actually listen and respond when they ask how my day is going. Bathrooms are always clean, gas is cheap, and coffee is strong. In fact, I was driving last week at 10 something at night and stopped in for a cup of coffee to keep me going. The nice lady behind the counter came over to help explain each coffee choice to me, and when she realized none of them were "hot" (they totally were hot enough) she gave me a giant cup for the road free of charge just so I could drive safely. What a doll. Great breakfast tacos, and super cheap. If you're there early in the morning, get one of two. I did try the chopped bbq beef sandwich to go on one occasion, but thought it was overpriced. Definitely tasty, just not $6-7 tasty. Anyhow, there are quite a few gas station options on that stretch of highway, but I always waited to pull into this one. Great people make for a great place. read more

There seems to have been a change in management, and much of the old Aggie charm is now gone--including the big wooden Sarge. If you're an Aggie, you'll love this place. If you're not, you might think the A&M spirit is a bit overdone. Either way, you'll find a pretty generic convenience store along Texas 21 that's at least clean, has an average selection of junk food, and has friendly help. In other words, if you need a stop along this stretch of 21, you could do a lot worse. read more

We have been stopping at whoop stop for many years as we travel between Austin and college station. Last Monday's stop will be our last! We stopped to fill our tank and were the only customers.There was no toilet paper or paper towels in the ladies bathroom. I very politely told the cashier, just to let him know. He rudely told me that he has no paper towels and he'll get around to the tp later. When my husband returned to the car he said the same thing about the men's room, only the manager told him in a very rude manner to "bring your own paper next time"! My husband said there won't be a next time!! Avoid this place! We're telling all our friends and family. The manager is rude and provides no tp or paper towels! We put in a full tank of gas, so it's not even like we were just using the facilities without being customers. Clearly, this is not a business Aggie's should support. It's not the good ole whoop stop anymore! Must've changed management . Stay away!!!! read more

Nice clean Gas station or restrooms if you are headed to or from Bryan/College Station. On Hwy 21 but just north or east of Hwy 290. There is a BBQ restaurant there with food available to go and a very nice gift shop. Nice place. read more

Not sure what happened here, but the BBQ place simply wouldn't take my order. I was patiently waiting in line and passed over for others who walked through the door. Maybe they pegged me for a Longhorn fan? Anyway, I left and wouldn't return if this was the last place on earth. WOW!!! I just had the absolute BEST burger in Bastrop county!!!! Spoke with the owner, James, and he said that they grind and press their own patties so nothing is frozen, but that they also MAKE THEIR OWN BUNS!! This is a MUST STOP if you are in the Hwy 21/Hwy 290 area or coming or going from College Station or tired of the blah selection in Bastrop!! Nice little stop with a bbq deli/mini restaurant in the back. Their brisket sandwiches are to die for, and the breakfast tacos are great! They do pulled pork and brisket on the tacos, which is really unique and delicious (and at a buck fifty, affordable!). The folks behind the counter at the deli are really friendly, and give great service. read more

I stopped here a couple of years ago and the burgers were excellent. This time the burgers were good but not exceptional. If you want a soft drink with your meal, you have to buy it in the "store" section of the Whoop Stop. If you want water, it is $1.50 for a glass of water. Staff was friendly.
