I usually park a little ways out to avoid the congestion. On this particular day, I left home 15 minutes earlier to meet friends at a restaurant on Walker Rd. After lunch, I was planning on joining a friend at the gym. I had lost my lock, so I wanted to pick one up on the way to the restaurant. I didn't have a lot of leeway, but I thought this would be a quick in and out. When I entered the side entrance, I saw a cashier, and I thought that would be perfect for checking out on the way out. I was having a hard time locating the Hardware section. I didn't see anyone to ask..so I just wandered in a direction I thought it would be. I finally found the Hardware section, but didn't see anything saying locks. Again, no one to ask, so I wandered the aisles. I finally found the combination locks. I made a beeline for the cashier I saw when entering the store. There weren't any customers in her area, she was having a conversation with a fellow employee. I walked over to the counter and the other employee left. I saw a closed sign on the counter, so I asked if she was closed, and she said yes. So I started to walk away to search for an open cashier. As I started to walk away, I looked back and there wasn't a closed sign on the register on the other side. So I asked her if this side was open and she said yes. So I said, OK. And she asked me "what was that?" And I said, "OKAY!" Why didn't she let me know that she could help me on the other side?? And the way she asked me, "What was that?" Was said with an attitude. So I said "OKAY" with an attitude back!

I go off, and tell them that they are out of line for talking about me to the guy in front of me. They lie and say they were not talking about me then when I get upset they then refuse to serve me, which is fine bc I would not trust or want to deal with this establishment after tonight's encounter. I'm a black woman and she and the other customer white. The other customer was an innocent bystander but she was out of line. I believe there was definitely some racial bias going on, and I'm no saint bc I call her all types of deserving names besides Phyllis. They can take their racist ass out of customer service bc it you have someone working for your company that literally picks a fight with a paying customer and then refuse service when they are called on their bullshit is ridiculous. When I called him over to stop, he told me that I should have done it myself. Then he said he only heard $40, not twenty, but it was already over $40. He won't even give me a receipt and walked away. His name is Jim. He lied to my face, laughed, then said I can't do anything to him because I handed him my credit card. I didn't know that giving my credit card to a Chevron employee meant they could charge whatever they wanted. I went to talk to the manager, and she admitted that he does this to quite a few customers, and corporate has not put a stop to it.
