    The Chestnut Burger with fries.
    Ken R.

My first visit to this spot across the street from the bustling Biltmore Shopping Center. I ordered a cheeseburger, fries and a can of Diet Coke, which means no refills. The food was delicious, portions hearty and service timely. My drawback is that while tasty and filling, it was also $29 with tip. I know everything costs more. Yet, that was pretty steep for something I can get elsewhere for half the price. I actually am going back to this place next week. I'll see if I can find a better option for breakfast. One other ding is parking. I was able to find a spot, yet parking is extremely limited. TIP: Chestnut has a few spaces designated just west of the Wells Fargo Bank parking lot.

I've followed Chestnut from their original location to The Vintage and now to their current location! It's truly impressive how they've continued to reinvent themselves and find new spaces that work for them! The food, as always was phenomenal, as was the friendly service. The morning bibimbap bowl (warm kale, quinoa, 2 poached eggs and some sriracha!) was just delicious. The Gardener juice (cucumber, celery, kale, spinach, lemon) was surprisingly a bit salty, but still very good. Their vegan and gluten free pumpkin muffin was dense and filling. My lunchmates ordered salad that they also enjoyed. The space is cute and sunny, with a welcoming vibe. Lots of whites, yellows, black accents. Will definitely keep returning for the morning bibimbap bowl and to try their other gluten free pastries! A note about parking: there are 4 designated spaces near the Wells Fargo bank which are hard to find. I drove around a bit before finding parking.

    Chicken Salad Sandwich

A couple of my coworkers and I decided on going to Chestnut for lunch one Friday afternoon. We walked in and noticed there were a decent amount of people sitting at tables, but luckily, there wasn't a line and we were able to take our time ordering without worries of holding up the line. Right when you walk inside, there is a display set up with some really cute merch and other knick knacks. Overall, the vibe in the place is super cute and when you order waters, you get to fill your glass through a water dispenser like you'd see at parties or lemonade stands (no ice though). One thing I thought was odd was the lack of specific prices on the menu. They have price ranges for each category of food, but no specific prices next to any dishes. As a proud frugal person, I did not enjoy this. Anyway, I ordered the chicken salad sandwich with a side of sweet potato chips; I honestly didn't know if there were any other options for a side because the cashier asked, "are sweet potato chips okay?" The sandwich came out to $12.45. For an uppity place in the heart of Biltmore, I was pleasantly surprised I wasn't spending more than $15. However, the prices for their salads are simply outrageous - just check their online ordering platform. After ordering - my coworkers also got a chicken salad sandwich and a fancy-looking salad, we sat down at a table and the food came out pretty quickly. It should've for sandwiches and a salad. The serving was massive. The bread was toasted nicely and wasn't hard so it didn't destroy the roof of my mouth. The scoops of chicken salad on both halves of the sandwich were MASSIVE. The sweet potato chips on the side were plentiful and crunchy but not kettle chip-level crunch. They had a nice flavor and weren't overly salted. The actual chicken salad was really delicious too and the tomato slices were ripe and red! I couldn't finish the chips or the sandwich and I was full for hours. Definitely worth the $12.45 in my opinion. Friendly and fast service (answered all of our questions). And even though the prices are a little steep for a breakfast/lunch place, you do get good quality food in decent portions.

Love the new location. Parking is tricky the first time, but I appreciate that parking is validated. The food and ambiance are great!

The chicken salad sandwich is soooo good too!! I've gotten it like 3 times- the bread, lettuce, chicken salad- all phenomenal! Literally the best chicken salad sandwich I've ever had. The peanut butter stuffed chocolate chip cookies are incredible too!

This is a cute brunch/lunch spot in the Biltmore area! It's a walk up, order, and find a spot to sit at establishment with a variety of coffee, tea, sweet, and savory selects. Service was casual, decent. I did enjoy they had board games play. I ordered the Corned Beef Hash and The OG. The menu doesn't establish their prices for that menu item, only the range of the category. I didn't care for this approach but it was different - it's like price roulette. The Corned Beef Hash had a great portion for $15.50 and was very filling! Had the beef, 2 eggs, potatoes, onions, and peppers! The OG was okay - biscuit was kinda dry and needed a bit more syrup for the sweet/savory combo. Also ordered a vanilla latte and dirty chai latte which were good. Not too sweet and wasn't weak in espresso. All in, the 4 items cost $45 so it's on par with the cost in the area. Overall, it was a decent place and if I'm in the neighborhood, I'd try them out again and order something different.

    Butternut Squash and Quinoa

This is such a cute spot with healthy food options. Our experience here was mixed. I got the Butternut Squash Salad, which was delicious! The combination of the tart cherries, squash, and glazed nuts was amazing. My husband ordered an omelette with cheese, red peppers, onion, and light tomato on top. The first time they made it they forgot the cheese. (You can also see the pile of tomato on top.) They kindly remade it, but by the time it was done the hash browns and toast were cold. The servers were very kind and attentive. I saw some other people had ordered sandwiches that looked amazing. Maybe just don't get the omelette?

This is the Billy sandwich with the side salad on a gluten-free bread. So delicious. I normally don't like gluten-free bread.

Found this cute place to have lunch right around the Biltmore area. Very quiet good place to meet with clients or business partners. Food is delicious and services very nice. Very quiet with light music in the background. Only challenge is parking.

    New spot looking great!

Huge thanks to Chestnut for catering an event I hosted this past Saturday evening. We had a group of 25 people (12 adults and 13 kids), and I knew it was going to be another busy weekend on the soccer field, so cooking a full meal was out of the question... I first emailed and then spoke on the phone with Matthew, the Chestnut Catering Manager. He was super helpful in helping me decide on our menu. We went with the following: - House Made Chicken Strips w/Dipping Sauces - Chestnut Chopped Salad (Dressing, Chicken and Cheese on Side) - Oh Mega Luv Bowl - Buttered Noodles - Chestnut's House Made Sweet Potato Chips - Chestnut's Famous Chocolate Chip Cookies Some friends brought in some additional items, so we definitely had a feast! Everyone raved about the food and we had leftovers for days... I was not complaining. Especially about the leftover chips and cookies ;) On top of our food order, I paid a small delivery delivery fee and a 20% service fee, and Matthew came right on time to not only deliver the food, but to set it all up with me. It came in beautiful bowls, serving platters, etc... and they even had portable warmers. It worked out so well. I stopped into Chestnut's beautiful new location today to return the dishes and loved it. I also picked up an iced tea. I will for sure be back to dine-in as well as consider Chestnut for catering on future occasions. Thanks again to all at Chestnut and to Matthew for a wonderful experience!

The interior is pretty long with a large number of seating inside the building so we had no trouble getting seated right away by the hostess. We decided on food relatively quickly due to previous experience with the business, however, our waiter never came around to take our orders or even give us water at the table. We saw one girl with dyed hair who unassumingly could have been our waiter since she was in our section but only worked with one particular table and ran to the back after each time, but never addressed our table or came by. We eventually had to flag a different waiter down who was able to help us place the order and service us for the rest of our visit, she also informed us that this other "Waiter" was supposed to help us but she wasn't sure why she never made an attempt to do so after having us wait 20 mins and other tables were being serviced. We ordered Flordian French Toast and Elote Breakfast Burrito (plus a couple sides and drink) which were both really good, and filling. Prices weren't too bad for what we ordered and was able to take our mind off of the rather long wait to get helped. Not sure if we'll come back to this particular location again, but it was nice trying the restaurant out another time.

One thing to know is there is no table service. You order at the counter and they have a lot of choices so if you have never been there it's hard to decide while other people are waiting behind you. I came with my mom and we were craving pancakes so again didn't get any eggs which is what they are known for and their breakfast pizzas. So I'll come back to try those. We split buttermilk pancakes and a cinnamon roll. They do have real maple syrup but of course they up charge for the good stuff. The pancakes are ok but don't taste like buttermilk pancakes. They looked good but it definitely tasted like a mix and not a good one. They were way overly sweet. They weren't terrible but just not great. 4/10 on the pancake scale. The cinnamon roll also tasted like a store bought premade roll. It was also kind of burnt and didn't taste like anything. The only good thing was the coffee which I was highly skeptical about because it was serve yourself from a carafe. But it was good and strong. Nice views of the mountains and the patio is dog friendly. I want to like this place because it's in my neighborhood so next time I'll try the eggs dishes. Also they have several veggie/vegan selections so I'll come back for those too and to bring my dog.

The staff was friendly throughout our stay, and the overall property has a relaxing atmosphere that makes it easy to enjoy the sunshine and scenery. We booked an upgraded suite with a separate bedroom and TV room, which gave us plenty of space to spread out. While the layout was great, the room itself could use some updates. The bathroom fixtures were older--the Kohler toilet didn't flush well and was a bit noisy, and the tub/shower combo had rounded sides that made it tricky to stand comfortably. The shower water also never got fully hot. The room had a slightly musty smell, and the carpets would benefit from a deep cleaning. The balcony screen door didn't close tightly, which let a few flies in, and access to the second floor required two sets of stairs since there's no elevator in that section. Even with those issues, the resort's location, views, and overall vibe made the stay enjoyable. With some room refreshes and a bit more maintenance attention, this could easily be a standout property. The setting alone is worth experiencing.

I found a great AAdvantage Hotel deal at the Hilton Phoenix Tapatio Cliffs Resort and booked it. While it was a great success of a visit in terms of AAdvantage miles and loyalty points, my actual experience at the hotel itself was less to be desired due to the customer service and a big snafu on their part. I also have Hilton Gold status, though as I booked the hotel through a third party site (AAdvantage Hotels), I could see the stay and the stay history in my Hilton app, but I did not receive any benefits for staying there, which was fine as I didn't expect any anyone. I arrived in person to check in and already reserved and prepaid for a King 1 Bedroom Standard Suite, which had a nice view and reasonably spacious room (but not too much larger than a regular room at another hotel). The room was certainly not upgraded though there was parking available right in front of the entrance. I did not receive anything else at check-in nor did it appear that I'd get my regularly complimentary water. I did pay the daily resort charge which includes high speed internet access, access to the Falls Water Village, an hour at the tennis/pickleball court, an hour at the afternoon golf practice facility, two hours for a mountain bike rental, 20% off seasonal spa services, and 15% off select golf apparel. While I didn't use it, I had easy view and access to the Falls Water Village where you could lounge and play all day on their sun-marked terrace where you could find free-form pools, hot tubs, and cabanas. They even have a 138-foot enclosed water slide. When I checked out, I was told that a bill would be sent to me shortly since I did it on the app early, and when I received the bill, there was a charge for my room at the restaurant at the top of the hill called A Different Point of View. The catch is that I never went to eat there during my stay (or at any onsite restaurant since I live in the area and had my meals offsite). I reached out to the hotel who insisted that I did go there to eat. I promised them I didn't eat anywhere onsite and that they need to look at the receipt and see if it actually has my room number. They confirmed it did and that this meant I ate there. I told them to find my name on it and let me know if it was on there. After several more back and forth conversations, they confirmed it wasn't me and would remove the charge. They then mistakenly charged me double. Then they removed one charge, but it took more than a week before they removed the other charge. By the end of the exchanges, it felt like they were blaming me for their own mistake. While the resort is aged and rather pleasant, there certainly are training issues regarding the customer service offered at this property. I do not plan on staying here again in the future.
