I like Cheshire Coffee, but I certainly don't love it. A large hot coffee is $2.35, which seems overpriced to me, however they have the strongest coffee in the area and it definitely beats Dunkin' Donuts. That being said, I would like to see some different artisan coffee blends-- if I'm paying that much for coffee I expect to be able to try some delicious new blends! read more

This coffee shop is cozy, comfy and has a great atmosphere. I regularly get an iced dirty chai - which I believe is the best iced dirty chai in CT. I would agree with some below comments - I do think their coffee is a bit expensive. However it is nice and strong. read more

My favorite coffee joint! I'm a coffee drinker and a fan of frilly non-coffee drinks as well, and they exceed my expectations every single visit. Their coffees are not too strong, and their lattes are made just right. If you're around for breakfast time, try out their artisan egg sandwiches (the one with the apple smoked bacon and gouda is to die for!). Wraps are also quite good. My co-worker and I frequently stop here for coffee on our way to work in the morning. The coffee is great and fast and I love stopping in for a panini for lunch. Today however was a bizarre experience. The person who's name shall remain hidden was acting crazy and rude to my co-worker and I. He was making weird head gestures while we were ordering our coffee. When we walked away he made a comment about us and what he was doing to the man behind us. Not sure what happened today but it was so odd. On the flip side the coffees we ordered very good but I would rather go someplace else for coffee going forward. read more

Just a beginning coffee drinker, I came here looking to kill some time while waiting for my boyfriend, what I found was great ice coffee, great recommendations on what to try and some really friendly people. Grabbed a seat and a blondie cookie bar and spent a very enjoyable hour listening to a audio book in the cafe, I can't think of a better way to have spent some time. While I don't live in Cheshire, I do spend time in area and I will absolutely be back. read more

This place is great.. I love the location and the option to sit outside. I recommend trying half iced tea (I get green) with half lemonade and a syrup flavor, it's my newest favorite drink they offer which isn't coffee. There are so many drink possibilities here. One of the best coffee shops around. Cheshire coffee has that coffee-shop 'it' factor. They have new roasts almost everyday--fresh, hot, and served to you with a smile. The staff is always friendly and inviting, and the atmosphere warm. It is a bit out of my way personally, but I would (and do) willingly drive here over any other coffee shop, no matter the distance. Yes, it's that good. Muffins and pastries alike taste fresh and are not over-processed sweets like you find elsewhere. The peach muffin and the corn muffin are a staple. Lots of drink options to choose from, sweetened and non. But to me, a good, fresh-tasting cup of black coffee is the mark of a good, nay, great coffee shop. read more

I live in Meriden and go out of my way just to go to the Cheshire Coffee House! The food is fresh and the drinks are the best I've ever tasted!!! The employees also keep the place so spotless and neat! I've been all over the place for coffee and specialty drinks and this place is the best as far as I'm concerned! This used to be my favorite coffee place until today. I have a severe nut allergy and the two baristas (a blonde with glasses and a tall brunette man) questioned my allergy and gave me a hard time. Cheshire Coffee uses a communal stirrer to stir their lattes. I always ask that they not use the communal stirrer and use a disposable one instead since the communal stirrer may have stirred almond milk or hazelnut syrup. Up until today, the staff has always been great about this. Today, the brunette who helped us at the register, who was very nice, went over and informed the two baristas of my allergy. They automatically dismissed her and told her it was fine bc there are no nut products behind the counter (which is not true). The lady at the register came back and said to us "They never listen to me." and appeared flustered that they just dismissed her. Since I did not trust the blonde barista, I walked over and watched her make my coffee. Her and the male barista were discussing how my request was ridiculous. The blonde barista proceeded to stir my latte with the communal stirrer right in front of me. When I said something to her, she told me there are no nut products behind the bar. I then said "So you have never made a coffee drink with almond milk or hazelnut syrup?" She just went silent and I asked her to remake my drink. She then stormed over and grabbed wooden stirrers, flipped them in me and my husband's face, and aggressively said "I'm stirring it with these." After I was handed my latte, I wondered off to the bathroom and the male barista told the female barista that me asking them to not use the communal stirrer was the most ridiculous thing he's ever heard. My husband then questioned him and the male barista continued to mouth off to my husband. From a customer service standpoint and an allergy awareness standpoint, neither of these employees should be working in the food industry. They clearly do not understand the severity of food allergies and because of this my husband and I will never go back to Cheshire Coffee. The coffee is great but it is not worth getting sick over. The coffee was great, but the girl at the register didn't smile, she barely acknowledged us, and hurried us through the ordering process. A please and thank you could go a long way. The panini sandwiches are solid but their boba can use a lot of work. It's undercooked, tough and all around one of the worst tapioca I've ever had. Their taro slush also doesn't taste quite right. Granted this isn't their speciality but it should either be omitted from the menu altogether or reworked upon. read more

The menu is fun and always changing with the season, the baristas are friendly, the coffee is high quality, and they have a great coffeehouse feel. I stopped in Cheshire Coffee today and waited in line for about ten minutes while the woman taking orders completely ignored the line of people. She was carrying-on a conversation with another patron (who wasn't ordering) about why she was living in Cheshire. I finally just gave up and left. I've gotten coffee here before and it is good, but the staff always seem to be distracted - talking among themselves etc. The times I have gotten coffee here it is just aggravating. read more

Nice local coffee shop in a classic building! Cozy interior with ample space and WiFi for reading/studying/working or just sitting down with a friend for coffee. Busy on a saturday morning which is always a good sign! Tables on the patio would be nice in the summer. I grabbed a smoothie, a seasonal latte, and some pastries to go. Hands down the best coffee around. I always get the iced caramel macchiato and it is never anything less than amazing. The iced green tea latte is also amazing. It's a cute little coffee shop with nice indoor and outdoor seating. The staff is friendly and efficient. The food selection looks great, different types of sandwiches and wraps for lunch and breakfast, I haven't tried any of it yet though. The granola bars are very good and can last you the whole day. I'm not a fan. I've been in this place a few times. The staff may be friendly, but if your gonna copy Starbucks, buy into the business. Don't be a knock off. There are too many kids there at any given time. The food is way over priced. There are plenty of other coffee spots in town with a much better value for the dollar. Like the Main St. Caffe. I've had some decent experiences, but too many bad ones, too. I've had burnt coffee here a few times. (I know that scalding water doesn't literally burn the coffee, just ruins it.) Not one negative review of this place, and after getting into the habit of stopping by, I'm not surprised. It's very bright and welcoming inside, and all the baristas I've met so far have been friendly and funny, never surly or pretentious. They roast their own coffee and they offer three different roasts each day. Some are better than others, but they're all excellent, especially when compared with other cups of coffee you can buy in this town. Their chai, bubble teas, and frappes are also delicious. Haven't tried many of the pastries. The panini selection is a tad limited, and they aren't made to order (unless you happen to stop in while the owner is around with his sandwich gloves on). That's the only drawback I've ever experienced, and it's a pretty small one, because the sandwiches being prepared ahead of time in the morning really speeds up the process- I've never waited more than 5 minutes for a sandwich. They also accept my AMX card, which is nice. read more
