They really love their potatoes though....the Farmer's Omelette could honestly be called the "potato omelette with a side of potatoes." We were in the area and needed breakfast. The high rating is much deserved. Friendly greeting, spacious dining room and excellent food. The country fried steak is delicious, topped with a perfectly savory white pepper gravy. Portions are huge. We took a lot away. I ordered a biscuit as my toast and it came grilled - which was delicious. Very clean place. Service is very friendly and perfectly attentive. The food came out so fast. I will surely be back with my husband and maybe try the jumbo cinnamon roll next time. We ordered the country special breakfast and country fried steak. This is the type or place where old people talk about their trauma. DONT TRY TO BEFRIEND THE WORKERS!!! Ok so you want my honest review so my grandma brother and I walk in in this depressed college guy looks at us and mumbles something. I said he keeps on mumbling it over and over again and then he starts talking and he was like sit right there so we did! Did this lady who looks like she would work at a diner keeps refilling my water. my grandma comes here a lot and she like knows this lady's name by heart she's all nice and trying to talk to her and the lady is just like so cold and grumpy. When we were about to leave, I needed to use the laboratory and this scary photo of Elvis Presley stares me down while I take a pee. So that I finish peeing and my grandma's paying and then I spot a bowl of dumb dumb suckers and I took about 10 and nobody noticed. Came here due to my family being from Lansing and I was trying to find places that are the mid point for us. and First of all, the food is huge for the price. It took about 15 minutes to be sat but once we were sat, it took about 15 minutes for the food to come out. Service was prompt and very professional . The seating itself is kind of cramped, you can tell the place is busy so that make use of all available space they can. Everything was hot, fresh and delicious. This place is a gem. It was all right. The potions were huge, but this isn't a place I was inspired to want to come back and try other menu items. Classic diner vibes with generous portions, fast service and great tasting breakfast. Quickly sat on a Saturday morning. Eggs are XL, potatoes taste like real potatoes (rare these days!) and a huge portion of bacon. The highlight for me also included the b&g. These were very good - dense biscuit, seasoned gravy with sausage chunks. Coffee was OK, not too acidic, the diner style mug was the selling point. Nestled among trees where Spencer ends at Old US 23, Cheryl's welcomes you with it's rock exterior, metal roof and a cone roof over the entrance. It's a bustling business, so expect to compete with your neighbors to be heard in the front part of the dining room where you'll likely be sitting very close to other patrons. The rear dining room is noticeably quieter with tables spaced a little further apart. We were here for breakfast around 11a.m. on a Saturday, and there was no wait. Our server was very nice and attentive. Bussers cleared empty dishes quickly. My Greek skillet was excellent after adding some salt and pepper. I could have easily split this with someone. Unless you really need it, I'd skip hot tea since you get a 10¢ Lipton tea bag for nearly $3. I also can't recommend the cinnamon roll French toast. While it looks delectable, it's so dense that is off-putting. If you're always cold, request that you not sit near the front door during Michigan's colder months Watch out for the 3% fee on top of your bill if you use your credit card! They won't tell you ahead of time and then they'll point to a sticker the size of an index card on the wall behind the register and apologize that the sticker isn't bigger. I will never return to a business that does this and doesn't tell you before they ring you up, so I deducted one star for this. So if that doesn't bother you, consider this a four star restaurant, and I'm willing to bet you'll enjoy your meal! read more

I don't know what the hype is about the food. It's ok, but nothing more than an average Coney Island type breakfast. Casual atmosphere. I got a huge pancake and it covered the entire plate. It tastes fine, but was a little rubbery. I had it with bacon. I will say you get a nice portion of bacon! Got eggs basted and the yolks were nearly done. Service was good. Nice staff. A solid choice for Sunday brunch! We don't wander into this area very often but were excited to try somewhere new. It was obvious from the moment we walked in that Cheryl's is very popular amongst the locals. Every possible space for a table is used in the restaurant, so it can make it a bit awkward while you're standing and waiting for a table. Thankfully, for parties of 2, there was less than a 5 minute wait. If you have a slightly bigger party, you might end up waiting for a bit longer than that. Our waitress was friendly and attention. She was also ready to offer up drinks and take our orders quickly. The coffee was a bit... I dunno how to describe it? It was a bit of a let down and might have tasted a smidge like soap? I didn't love it. Our food was pretty darn good too. The Country Skillet was tasty and there was so much of it! (Two people could easily share it.) Breakfast #2's Corned Beef was nice and tasty. (So many places just get this canned and it tastes like awful mush.) Overall, this is a solid choice, and I can see why people would come here. Though Cheryl's was hopping, we were seated immediately and waited on quickly, kindly and efficiently! The coffee was hot and good and kept coming. As did our much needed water refills. Breakfast was delicious. I opted for an omelet, it was just what I wanted and expected. The hash browns were crunchy, and the toast was delicious (home made? Home made somewhere!). Great diner north of green oak area of Brighton. Came here on a Saturday around 1130. Tons of breakfast options, as well as lunchtime food if that's what you're in the mood for. They continuously make sure your coffee is topped off and you have everything you need. Parking is plentiful and you get seated right away. My only suggestion would be gluten free toast. The gravy had no sausage and although we ordered the hash browns crispy, they were so crispy we had to use a knife. The Ruben was chewy but not overly greasy, as they can be. My husband drove me to a medical procedure I had in Brighton. After my procedure I was hungry for breakfast seeing how I couldn't eat that morning. My procedure went well but it was 1:00 PM not excately breakfast time. I ask Google for a restaurant serving breakfast near me, Cheryl's Pla c e came up. I read the reviews and it sounded good!! Well to my surprise it was GREAT!! Walked in and noticed how cleaned and sparkling it was, I've worked at many restaurants in my days, this place was spotless!! The menu was another surprise, wow breakfast all day, at least to 3PM when they close! The food was awesome our server Raina was awesome and very efficient! Our experience was GREAT and if in the area will definitely go back!! I highly recommend Cheryl's Place, great food, very clean and the best Service I've had in a long time, Raina was delightful as well as the cashier, who asked us how everything was and was very nice!! I've been going to Cheryl's since I was a kid. My family refers to it as "the castle". Their breakfast is hot and consistent. The service is fast, even when they are busy, you are in and out quickly. The tables are clean, in fact the entire restaurant is pristine. I highly suggest their French toast and pancakes. read more

Came here for brunch with my grandma. got the #1 breakfast with 2 eggs (over easy), bacon, hashbrowns, and wheat toast. I had 3 eggs on my plate, cause one egg broke, so they made another. While they made another my first egg was now over cooked too. I appreciate the idea but if you're remaking one egg, just remake them both.. My bacon was so crispy it just broke apart, because they fry their bacon. Did not know that. toast was so dry, even with butter and jelly, that it almost seemed like it was stale before they toasted it. My grandmas wrap was fine. Served with a bag of lays chips, cause they don't want to make their own chips. Toward the end, our server was busy cashing people out and kinda just seemed to forget about us after that.!she wandered around taking care of her other tables.
