Good diner fare! We are in town visiting family and my kids and I decided to go out for lunch on a pleasant Friday afternoon. The diner is a narrow diner with an eat at counter and tables going down the other side. Very cozy. Four out of five of us ordered breakfast, which is available all day. I had two eggs over medium and hash browns. The eggs may have been the closest to over medium I have ever had. Usually when I order over medium they come out over easy. I assume to cooks err on the side of not over cooking the yolks. Here, the yolks were runny yet hard. Or perfect! All in all a good breakfast for lunch experience for me. My oldest had biscuits and gravy. It was a plateful of biscuits with sausage gravy. He said it was good and he would have them again given the chance. Number 2 had a large pancake and sausage links. The pancake was very large, but for some reason he expected some ginormous pancake a foot across. Not sure where he got that idea. But he ate it all and was filled up. Number 3 had a Philly cheesesteak with onions and peppers. She said it only was okay because there were too many peppers and she couldn't taste the onions enough. Number 4 had a Belgium waffle with whipped cream and syrup. It was a big, fluffy waffle and looked good. His verdict? Super awesome! He said the whipped cream and syrup took it over the top. The service was decent. The food came out reasonably fast. Had to ask for water refills. It started getting crowded when we nearing the end of our meal, which seemed to rattle our server. Despite that, I highly recommend the Stockbridge Diner as a good stop for a meal on your way through the center of town! read more

Charming diner. Has a surprising amount of seating considering the size of this place. We've eaten here a couple times. The most recent visit wasn't the best. Keeping in mind we all have bad days, it always bothers me to go anywhere and be treated poorly. Benefit of the doubt she was having a rough day as we all do but don't take it out on your customer. Food was good and priced well considering today's food costs. Food was prepared correctly and served hot. Street parking out front is hit-or-miss depending on how busy things are around town but you can usually find something close or within a reasonable walking distance. read more

Going was greeted and seemed friendly. They were busy only a couple empty table for the small place . We knew it would be slow but ok. We waited and waited , got order taken and the line cook said hold the orders so they could catch up. Looked like they were cooking 1 order at a time so waited 45 minutes for a blt which was good and a chicken wrap which had about 2 ounces of chicken and was drenched in the dressing, ate the chicken left the wrap. Waitress needs a personality, we are not locals so maybe that why she didn't care. No reason to ever go back 50/50 on food and 0 on staff . read more

Cool diner that serves good food. Stopped in for lunch, wife had Philly steak sandwich with homemade chips, I had the Patty Melt with fry's. Both cooked perfectly and served hot. Homemade chips are great and the fry's are the shoestring which were cooked perfect crispy. Place is small, has a counter you can sit at as well as tables. Food is cooked to order so if they get busy you may wait but the food is worth it. Their Country Fried Steak is said to be really good as well as their breakfast. The owner was our server and you would think she would make you feel welcomed. She didn't even know what was in the bourbon sauce or much less how to explain it. When I go out I do expect to feel welcomed and not like a burden when all I want is to support a small business. Work on your attitude with people and the place could really shine. Food was great. But will NEVER go back. I used to go in every weekend. Stopped in one day had breakfast and was talking to an older couple. They asked about a box I had. Told them it was a statue for my son's ashes. Waitress heard me evidently. Went back next week as soon as I got in the door she ran to the owner saying I was the mother effer that brought an ern in. The owner told her if I'm going to bring shit like that in. I don't need to come back. I just got up and left. It was an Empty statue in a box. Good food is not worth the rage that I had to hold in. Super small and kind of unwelcoming. I felt like an outsider when I walked in. The place wasn't terribly clean, and the country fried steak was the nastiest cheap meat I've had in a long time. Gravy wasn't bad but a bit flavorless. No salt on my eggs. Had to ask twice for extra jelly. The toast was good though, real bread instead of some Wonderbread crap. My friends' omelet looked good, and the pancakes looked great, but I was very underwhelmed with what was supposed to be the "best" country fried steak. read more

I was recently there and the food was awesome! I'll be moving there in a month with my Tia, 5 cousins, my sister and her husband's kids, my three brothers and my old lady. Country living' is delish! This is a great little diner. The coffee is hot and the staff are friendly. I ordered up a classic breakfast of bacon, eggs, hash browns and toast. The food was hot and tasty - especially the bacon. It was just the right amount of crispy and chewy. There's nothing particularly unique or outstanding about the Stockbridge Diner, but they serve up fresh food that really hits the spot after being out late the night before, and they're not terribly expensive. I wish I could give this a rating of 0/5 because I would. The owner is extremely rude and kicked me out for asking a question on if he would like to purchase an ad for the high school's newspaper. All he had to say was no, but instead, he interrupted me as I was asking the question and told me to get out while leading me to the door. This was 4 years ago and I was the new kid of the school at the time, so as you can imagine, I felt very welcomed...not. Even after all those years, I'm sure he hasn't changed his ways. Fresh and consistent no gimmicks like " Prime Rib Night" or " Fish Fry Friday's" just great food freshly made. It is definitely a breath of fresh air. They have plenty of choices and they're reasonably priced. All of the restaurant owners around here should eat there at least once to see how it's done, the right way. My co-worker and I are here in the Stockbridge and Chelsea area on a business trip and happened to stop here on the way back to our hotel. As soon as we walked in the door we were greeted with a very warm hello. The lady (I didn't catch her name) was all smiles and ready to answer any questions and really knew every small detail about any item, which to me, was outstanding and comforting. The cabbage soup was amazing especially since I needed something warm. Being from Houston, this cold weather is doing a number on me! After my soup I was having trouble choosing what I wanted, because there were a lot of options, but finally decided on the country fried steak and eggs with a side of cottage cheese. It was a generous portion so I was barely able to finish it. My co-worker tried their bacon wrapped pork chops and said that they were outstanding. The whole time that we were eating the lady was very caring and also very energetic and funny. The amount of hospitality that was being presented made me seriously not want to leave. This is a great restaurant with great staff in a small town that I will always revisit when I am in the area. read more
