I went here on October 4, 2026. The reason it took me so long to write this review was because if I…read morewould've written it on the day I went or even a couple of days later, I would have not been able to express in a very professional manner how absolutely disrespected I was treated and how disappointed I was in the service and the lack of quality of the food. My sister had seen the Great reviews online and thought it would be nice to go here. When we got there, we were sat down. It took them a while to take our order. When we were brought our food we were asked if we needed anything else, we said no but, after that the entire time that we were eating, did any of the waitresses or waiters come and ask us if we needed anything, how is the food, they didn't even refresh our waters. I ordered duck fried rice and general's chicken, my sister ordered orange chicken and cashew chicken. The general's chicken and the orange chicken to me was a big ball of flour with pieces of chicken in it. It was gross. And the general chicken and the orange chicken taste the same. There was no difference in the taste. The duck fried rice was OK and the cashew chicken was OK. None of the dishes were something I would ever bother to order again. Also, we were given one bowl of white rice for our meals no one ever came and asked if we needed more rice not one time but we saw them filling up other customers bowls. When we had finished eating, we sat for 50 minutes before the any waitresses or waiter, acknowledged that we had completed our meal and needed to go boxes and our check. 50 minutes is ridiculous. There were so many waitresses that walked past us looked right at us and didn't ask us anything and it wasn't like any of them were assigned to certain tables they all were waiting on all of the tables ( except ours). I feel that the waiters and waitresses gave very poor service. I feel the food was OK not anything to write a great review about. I usually give a really great tip at any restaurant I go to I even sometimes tip at fast food restaurants, but the blatant disrespect and disregard paying no attention giving no proper service to me or my sister is something I do not appreciate so since I didn't receive any service. I left no tip and I never do that anywhere. I would never suggest this restaurant to any of my family or friends that live here or come from out of town. The Decor and in the whole entire restaurant was very dated. It needs to be updated.

A budget Chinese food place located near MSU campus. Funny the restaurant was named "Hong Kong"…read morebecause the theme of the cuisine is definitely Szechuan/Sichuan, quite different from the Cantonese style cuisine of Hong Kong, while the actual dishes tasted like Szechuan cuisine with reduced hotness and a bit more Cantonese details. Spicy cold plate chicken: very tender chicken slices with not too hot sauces. Could use a bit more sesame. Fish slices with preserved vegetable soup broth: Soup broth was rich with savory and sour taste of vegetables. Fish slices were a bit too thick and slightly mushy; might want to switch to another type of fish with firmer texture. Nevertheless, this dish is a bargain as it contains both a protein and a broth base (also with some rice noodles). Szechuan-style eggplants: standard. Sauce was too thick for my taste. Stir-fried spicy string beans: standard, very generous portion of minced pork and garlic adds a lot of flavor

I have had delivery twice and the quoted time was accurate, even in snowy weather! It's best to call directly to the restaurant to place the order versus ordering the money-grubbing GrubHub DoorDash or Eat24. Plus you'll avoid the corporate upcharges and can tip the staff directly! Ordered the lunch specials: Mongolian beef, shrimp in lobster sauce, General Tso's chicken, crab rangoon, and chicken wings. Highly recommend the crab rangoons! I thought the chicken wings needed more time to cook, so I threw it in the toaster oven for another 5-10 minutes and it was good to go. Regular entrees such as beef, shrimp, chicken gets the job done, but it was not impressively crazy flavorful-- umami for sure. I am not a fan of their yellow-colored fried rice, it's typically on the dry side. Overall for a cheap meal under $7, it's super cheap and filling. It is basically two meals for me. Will be back for more delivery on a cold day!

But a friend had recommended it so we were willing to give it a try. Overall a great Chinese food experience. The menu says it's a Sichuan restaurant. And they had Sichuan dishes plus the "American" Chinese dishes you'd expect. I see they also do dim sum but we didn't try that. They have a ton of vegetarian options! The server told us that they have been open since about 2011 and they used to only have traditional Sichuan food. Their primary customer base was international students who wanted authentic Chinese food like they had at home. But after Covid there were few international students from China in town and their business was struggling, so they expanded the menu to appeal to American tastes. As a result, the menu is huge! And you can choose between authentic Chinese or American style. We tried 2 dishes and enjoyed them both. We will definitely return and try some others. It's not a fancy restaurant but there are comfortable seats for 2 and big round tables with turntables for parties of 10 who want to share dishes. The staff is a very nice and helpful family.
