Ordered online, picked up in person. The crab Rangoons were very good; perfectly crispy, generously filled, and they gave a HUGE container of sauce to go with them. Yum! The combos were smaller than I expected, but a good normal dinner size. I was still able to save half for the next day. The food was still steaming when I got it home and opened it, which was a really nice thing to be so warm. The sesame chicken was really good, nice and crispy and coated in sauce. Some pieces were huge, some were tiny - I enjoyed the mix. The chicken lo mein was very greasy, almost too greasy. That's pretty much the only negative comment I can say. The portion was huge as you can see. Fried rice was alright; it's just plain in the combo platter so nothing to write home about but can't complain either! The inside of the restaurant is a little weird, since they closed dine-in seating. Looks a little creepy but who cares. The fact that this place has online ordering plus they're open on weekends when the other local place is not, means we will definitely be back! read more

Decided to update my review and show Panda Gourmet some love! I've been eating here for a decade and the food has been consistently very good--much better than the "other" "Panda" restaurant nearby! Panda Gourmet's takeout is always fresh, hot, and tasty. I live in Mason now but still make the drive because nothing in Mason comes close. Our family favorites are the crab rangoon, steamed dumplings, beef lo mein, and broccoli chicken. General Tso's and sesame chicken are also good. read more

We just had Panda Gourmet today and we are very pleased! During 11 am - 3 pm, they have lunch specials for $6.50! They are smaller versions of the dinner sizes, but there's still so much food! My boyfriend and I got three lunch specials; Honey Chicken, Chicken Lo Mein, and the Chicken in Garlic Sauce. It was very delicious and we have a lot of food leftover for tomorrow. The food was very delicious and wasn't heavy. We are delighted to have a new little Chinese restaurant to go to. During Covid, they are doing delivery and take-out. Normally I would pick-up my food, but they were only charging $3 for delivery. The food was to my apartment much quicker than they said. Overall, it was a great experience! read more

We went for an early lunch at 11:20am and there was no one else there. It was our second visit--the first time we kinda felt underwhelmed. But this time we went because we remembered that there were comfortable booths and it was quiet and clean, which appealed to us because we had gotten up early in the morning and just wanted to relax. My husband and I felt that maybe we ordered the wrong things the first time and maybe if we made choices that weren't too typical (sweet and sour pork) it would be better. We ordered hot tea for two and it was piping hot when it arrived at our table. We sipped while making our choices and I ordered the pork and snow pea entree and my husband ordered beef mai fun, which was a wide flat noodle. For appetizer, we got the crab Rangoon. The appetizer was brought out quickly, and we really liked how fresh and crispy it tasted. Right after we finished, our dishes came out. The beef mai fun was perfect--the noodles were covered with the sauce and there was plenty of sliced beef. My pork and snow peas were delicious--they served it with char siu roast pork which I adore. Char siu is a kind of Chinese bbq sauce that's a little sweet and has five spice , it's hard to find in the Midwest since we moved here 17 years ago. It is typically bright pink, I used to buy it at the butchers in China town in San Francisco. The snow peas were bright and fresh. It was a nice surprise. We enjoyed talking to the staff and our server was very helpful in answering questions. We saw the chef when we entered and he was friendly when he greeted us. I had heard from my coworker that Panda Gourmet was excellent, but he mostly got takeout. He was right. We are going more often. It's better quality than most buffets and we liked our experience there very much. read more

This is the worst Chinese meal and dining experience I've had in quite some time. The vegetarian choice consisted of a plate full of tofu. The waitress was rude and refused to ask the kitchen to add any vegetables. I ended up ordering just a bowl hot and sour soup, which came cold, slimy and salty. I couldn't eat more than three spoons of it. The other meals for the family were awful too. As hungry as we all were, the plates were left uneaten. I was tempted not to pay and just leave, but didn't have the energy to argue. Paid the over price bill and left a 3 cent tip. A half hour later, we were all feeling nauseated and sick from that disgusting food! I'm not sure how this place is staying in business, they don't deserve to be. I guess the lot of MSU students ordering late night take out is their life line! read more

This place has really shines during Covid! They have takeout and deliver to places even outside of Lansing (we are in Dimondale and only have $4 delivery charge!) They offer hefty portions and the food always arrives hot. They are great about extra soy sauce and dipping sauces without asking and they never forget the chop sticks! If you need some suggestions, our favorites are sweet and sour chicken, egg rolls, steamed dumplings and I kid you not the baby started crawling for the chicken lo-mein! read more

Delivery order of beef, I say beef with Chinese vegetables, was not all that bad if you like cutting scraps of beef from a pail in this kitchen. Very poor quality of so called beef. Normally, I'd give it 5 stars. But I ordered take out yesterday for dinner and the General Tso's was terrible. It seemed like it was old, even after I specifically asked for fresh. As far as Chinese food goes, it's about what you would expect- the same Americanized Chinese food that's sold everywhere. But, the food quality is decent and you can't beat the price. They have lunch and dinner specials that give healthy portions of food- you'll definitely be full. The egg rolls taste a little strange- almost sweet, like the dough has a bit too much Chinese 5-spice in it. Their wonton soup is very good- huge wontons and a healthy amount of salt, perfect for curing a hangover. All in all, it's a pretty good go-to: convenient location (parking lot is weird, but right across from Meijer and off Cedar/near the freeway) decent food, and excellent price. read more

We ordered delivery for the family from Panda Gourmet Friday evening. One hour and $60.00 later, we were presented with a totally unappealing meal. The 2 orders of Generals chicken, one order of burbon chicken, one order of vegetable lo mein and steamed dumplings were cold, as was the stale rice. The chicken was crusty (not crispy OR tender) and the prices were tiny and appeared to be from the bottom of the pot. The lo mein noodles were slimy. The dumplings would have been okay but, again, they were cold. Overpriced and underwhelming. Never again. And yes, we provided a tip. read more

First time visiting. I absolutely hated the egg foo young I ordered. It should have been called onion foo young. There were so many onions that I wouldn't be surprised if there was an entire large onion in it. The cashier/ waitress was very rude and just had the worst attitude. I had a hankering for Chinese food and don't normally eat it, as a matter of fact, this will be the 2nd time this year and it's August. I found this place from reviews, and I live close by. This is a dine-in restaurant. It's nice. However, I was picking up. Friendly young man working, took my order after I decided. Then, the food I ordered was prepared totally fresh. I waited around 10 minutes and left very excited. I was hoping for a good outcome. I didn't even sit down to eat it for around 20-30 minutes and it was still piping hot. I got the General Tso's combo plate extra spicy. I am totally pleased! I like hot food and the taste reflected the freshness of the food. I will be recommending Panda Gourmet and plan to return the next time I have a hankering for Chinese food. read more

Wow, I"m surprised that I'm going to be the first review of this place. Panda Gourmet is a hidden little gem on the southside of Lansing, and one of my families favorite take out Chinese places. Although we never have, one can dine in there and the decor is some of the more interesting I've seen- little tableaus of various bridges and bonsai trees carved out of what I think might be cork? In any case, incredibly intricate and gorgeous- I've never seen anything like it anywhere else. If we had the time we'd dine in just to gawk at these little scenes. :) The service has always been pleasant and we've never had a problem with an order- pretty fantastic considering we order from here at least once every couple of weeks over the last 3 or so years. The food itself is quite tasty and light just as it should be. I should mention that I tend to judge my Chinese places by two dishes they cook, if they're on the menu- General Tso's (yes, I know it's not ~really~ Chinese, but still.. a lot can be discerned about a place by how they prepare this dish) and crab rangoons. While theirs is not the best Tso's I've ever had, it does run a close second and their rangoons are full of that creamy, oniony, crabby goodness just like they should be. I was in Lansing visiting family, and decided to try out a new chinese place. I could not have been more impressed with Panda Gourmet! The food was hot and fresh, and very, very good. I ordered sesame chicken, General Tso's chicken, chicken lo mein, veggie lo mein, shrimp fried rice, chicken with snow peas, and a bunch of egg rolls -- they got it all right and didn't forget anything, and it was all amazing. Seriously. Every single bit of it. For example, the fried chicken dishes (Sesame, General's) were perfectly crispy and fresh, and the chicken pieces freshly tossed in an exquisitely seasoned sauce that was not too syrupy and sweet like you get at some restaurants. The chicken in everything was extremely high quality, tender, and moist. Seriously, I could write an entire article on how perfect this food all was, and my entire family thought so, too, INCLUDING my sister Wendy, who is the pickiest eater I have ever known. The woman who took my order was very nice, too, and when I asked about a favorite dish that I can only seem to find at buffets for some reason, she said that she knew exactly what I was talking about, described it to me perfectly, and offered to make it for me special, right on the spot (I was in a hurry, and couldn't wait, but when I got home and began eating this stuff, I very much wished that I had been able to try their version of this dish, because THIS FOOD WAS JUST SO GOOD. If I lived in town, I would end up eating here at least once a week. More, if I could afford it (which, to be honest, I totally could, the place is not very expensive at all.) Chinese places this good are few and far between, though, people. Definitely give this place a try. read more

Four stars is appropriate. There's nothing remarkable about Panda, they serve the same Americanized Chinese as any other place. Quality is medium-high, price is medium-low, service is above average. I often get the General tofu, which is served with a generous portion of broccoli and rice. Their tea is also quite good, they actually steep Jasmine tea at the table, so wait a minute before tipping over the teapot. The dining room is usually empty thanks to a healthy delivery and pickup service, which means it's usually great for a quiet meal. I like it. read more

Worst Chinese food I have ever had. Went in for take out. Ordered General's chicken and fried rice. Got home and ate the chicken, it was layered on a bed of broccoli. The grease was a half of an inch thick at the bottom of the container, could not even eat the broccoli. Never had fried rice that was just fried rice. Had no veggies or pork or chicken. Hands down, the best Chinese food I've ever had. I always liked the Sweet and Sour chicken, and I usually eat it without the sauce, and recently, General Tsos. Beware though, they usually put A LOT of sauce on the Tso's, but it's not an issue if you let some of it drip off after you pick up a piece with the fork, and if you like a lot of sauce, you're in luck. No harm done either way. Some chinese places have really stringy chicken that just grosses me out, the chicken here is consistent, not stringy, and not gross like some other places, and the egg rolls are good too. Their lunch menu has good prices as well. Call in 5 minutes before you get there and tell them what you want to order for takeout, and your food will be ready when you get there. The sit in isn't great, but I'm not big on amenities, so it doesn't bother me. If you're expecting to be blown out of your seat with service and refills, you might be better off getting takeout, but you also might be better off lowering your standards when it comes to Chinese sit down. I come to a restaurant to eat, not for an experience or to be treated like a king and have my drink topped off every minute. read more
