Delicious fish and chips, coleslaw, and tartar sauce! I have tried their food twice with my family and had a great experience both dining in and taking out. Really friendly staff.

Cute cafe restaurant off to the side inside of the Lotte market. Love the pink and gold decor. Lots of seating options. The food and frying is fresh. I'm glad I ate some while I was there. It was still really good when I got home, but definitely better when it was fresh in the cafe. The tartar sauce for the smelt and chips was amazing. I'd prefer more smelt for the price, but I would still order again. The dumplings were great. The potato dog was a naughty potato and cheese treat. But next time I'll get it with without the ketchup and mustard. Service was fast.

We were able to walk in and get two seats at the bar (our preferred seating when available) even…read morethough the rest of the restaurant was full. Here are all the things that went right: - we were immediately greeted by the bartender Jackson and presented menus and water and told about the featured cocktails -as we were deciding what to drink, I noticed a pretty impressive coctktail list and a list of some very good, rich red wines -the Angel's Envy Bourbon Berry Smash was delicious..spoken by someone who normally doesn't like bourbon but wanted to try an Angels Envy bourbon drink that was not too sweet. I chose the raspberry rosemary syrup as the berry of choice. My boyfriend had a well made gin and soda. -nice to see there were appetizer and entree specials. Makes you want to come back to see what will be on the specials list each week in addition to a nice well-rounded menu -Jackson helped us select among multiple good sounding entrees. As a pescatarian I wanted a seafood dish and decided on the suggested seafood risotto. My date was between a couple of fish dishes but after a discussion with the bartender and a further description he decided on the Maui Mahi with coconut risotto. We chose to split a salad rather than have an appetizer. -the meal--the salad came out on two plates so we did not need to divide the spring mixed berry and goat cheese salad. It was delicious and fresh and definitely enough for two side salads. We were also provided some warm crusty bread with olive oil and balsamic. Our entrees were of good portion size, visually appealing and HOT---not just warm---which I greatly appreciated and talked about after we left. The risotto was prepared perfectly by someone who clearly knows how to make a proper risotto--it was not gluey and set-up, but perfectly tender and creamy. The seafood was delicious. The scallops were seared nicely and not overly salty (something many restaurants don't understand is that you typically don't have to salt shellfish as it is salty/briny on its own). My boyfriend's mahi was sizable portion on top of an ever so slightly sweet and spicy coconut risotto. His was fantastic as well. We also enjoyed the sautéed zucchini that came with both..also nice and hot! -we had a delicious bottle of wine with dinner. After we paid for dinner and left with our remaining wine, we promptly came back in because of the heavy downpour of rain. We sat back down and finished our wine. The things that could be ever so slightly improved: -the lighting in the dining area is fitting of the decor and vibe of a nicer restaurant but the lighting at the bar is just too bright. Could maybe benefit from dimming them and possibly adding a few candals oe the small table/rechargeable lamps along the bar as it seemed wide enough. -the shrimp on the risotto should be two larger shrimp (8-10 size ) rather than the very small shrimp that don't seem to fit the vibe of the dish -there were only two options for dessert...maybe another one or two would be great -a little birdie told us that the restaurant will be having a happy hour menu soon (and a second location). We would LOVE for you to add some truffle fries with some sort of aioli...we can envision ourselves stopping in for those and some wine...often! Great addition to the limited higher end restaurants in the area. We look forward to many more meals there.

Highlights: * The pork bone soup was rich and comforting, perfect for sharing. * The pickled mustard fish soup had just the right kick of spice and tang, with tender fish and mushrooms--definitely a must-try. * The small plates were excellent too: the cold beef with chili oil was super flavorful, the cauliflower stir-fry had a nice crunch, and the blood tofu dish was surprisingly tasty. The portions are generous, and everything comes out fresh and hot. It's the kind of place where you can linger, share a variety of dishes, and enjoy a long meal with friends or family. The vibe is casual but warm, with beautiful Chinese-style decor on the walls. Service was friendly and quick, even though we ordered a lot of dishes at once. If you're craving homestyle Chinese food in Michigan, this is definitely worth the visit. We'll be back to try the hotpot next time!

The quality of the food and veggies was great, and we got a lot for the price compared to hot pot restaurants I've visited in other major cities. Can't see the menu when the restaurant is closed. The website has a poor user experience - We should be able to see the dine-in menu from the website before we visit the restaurant - not just a crappy "order online" menu that is not visible when the restaurant is closed.

I do see a lot of takeout orders going out, but usually you can easily get a seat and the food is prepared quickly. Have tried maybe 10-12 different dishes and all of them are good in their own way. Some favorites include the Spicy fish filet soup (a large bowl you can share), shredded pork with dry bean curd, stir fry string bean (a classic), and then the string bean with ground pork - (green beans are diced into small pieces). You really can't go wrong, so it's a matter of finding your favorites. The servers are extremely helpful and almost always know the menu very well. You can get American-style dishes such as Beef Broccoli and General Tso, but I would recommend branching out - haven't been disappointed with any menu item yet! Really great execution, professional service, all around fantastic place to eat, especially with a group so you can order several dishes to share.

My nephew…read moretold me about this place and told me to get the dry pot, so checked the place out while visiting EL. I looked at the menu and for the dry pot, you need to select a min. of seven items from the menu. If doing dry pot, let the staff know, as there's a separate menu for it. I went with med. spice, added: squid x 2, rice noodles x 2, shrimp x 2, beef brisket x 2, pork belly x 2, baby bokchoy x 1, chinese cabbage x 1, egg plant x 1, dry tofu x 2, & enoki mushroom x 1 Yes, added a lot and it's because the menu was not helpful. Lot of the items are singular, couldn't tell if "Squid" meant 1 or 1 serving. If it was 1 serving, how many squids came in a serving? As I wasn't sure, some of them I ended up ordering two. IE: Shrimp, I got 2 orders, there were 9 or 10 shrimps... had I know 1 order was equal to 5 shrimps, I would have ordered just 1. I wish they would update their menu to reflect the topping items so the customers know how many comes in a order. My bill came out to $70, yeah, it can get expensive! It took some time to get the food... but because I ordered lot of items, the food that came out was good for 5 people :) It was good, loved the medium spice and definitely hit the spot. Oh and yes, had leftover and took it home. I thought I was going a good job of eating, but barely made dent in the plate. I brought the leftovers home and had two more meals out of it. If you are in EL area, definitely visit the place and if you go, go with friends to try other offerings. If you are solo diner and ordering dry pot, only order one item of each from the list and 7 items from the list will be plenty for one person. Three stars for now.
