I have been to King Ocean Crab many times but refuse to eat there anymore! I order King crab and shrimp. There was 2 small king crab legs that were so overcooked that the crab was dried out stuck to the shell. The shrimp was so overcooked that the shells wouldn't come off to be peeled. The owner Jason is nasty and not approachable. Look at your bill carefully, owner charges different prices and now has added a 3% tax on top of 6% sales tax to take your order. A 3% order taking tax. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. The seafood boils and French fries are "ok", the shrimp breading is gross  and not crispy at all. Additionally, while I was dining in,  on Mothers day, I witnessed them bring out cold crab legs to someone. They treat their employees terrible. You will see comments on the service below and this is most definitely related to the fact that they cannot keep employees and the ones who remain are treated incredibly poorly. No wait and was sat in cold area but they were very willing to accommodate. Ordered half price appetizer of breaded shrimp which was very yummy and came with a tasty sauce. We ordered the Platinum Boil which was cooked perfectly. The corn was not mushy like at other places. We had a garlic butter and seasoning. Ordered mild and it was so yummy. It was busy and understaffed. When they brought the food ... we had to ask for silverware and plates, but they quickly provided. Waiter came to the table twice... but we really didn't need anything. I have been to this restaurant so many times in the past year. It's an hour and a half drive from where I live but the food and fast service is sooo worth it. They have the BEST seafood boils I've ever had and I travel a lot and tried so many boils so this is a big thing for me to say. The oysters weren't good at all. I would not recommend getting them. Usually we finish them all but I was afraid of them not being good for my stomach, they had a strange taste that wasn't good. The rest of the food was great. I had the sushi roll which was huge and delicious. I got 1 lobster tail and the snow crab. Which were both delicious. The miso soup wasn't great but it was on the house for us to try so that was nice of the waitress. I ordered the strawberry milk with boba and it was delicious. The potatoes and corn were great and I got the sauce that was all mixed together I was not disappointed. From the outside be warned it looks a little rough. But the inside is so gorgeous! Great place!!! We are traveling and chose this spot for dinner. It was five-ish (early) plenty of seating available. We were greeted immediately when we walked in and showing to a booth. Our waitress was super helpful and asked if it was our first time there, which we said yes, so she proceeded to review the menu in great detail. One side is all of their boils, which is basically different pieces of seafood in a bag along with Corn on the cob and potatoes. And then you pick your type of sauce which we chose garlic butter, and then you pick your spiciness level. There were plenty of options to choose from and she was very careful to point out that using the combinations or specials down the side of the menu really helped save money based on what you wanted to eat. The flipside of the menu is mostly sushi and appetizers. So we opted to go with a couple of sushi rolls, easy ones, California rolls and shrimp tempura roll and we chose the boil bag for $29 that had crab, muscles, shrimp, two corn cobs and two potatoes. It was more than enough food for both of us and we enjoyed it immensely. We did the simple garlic butter sauce with a medium spice level and it was perfect. We had a bib as things can get messy when you are pulling the crab out, what wipes to clean up and it was a perfect meal. The only disappointment is she explained that their liquor license had expired, so we had to settle for ice tea. Apparently they are getting that fixed! They have quite an ice bar so I imagine this is a bit painful for them. If we lived in the area we would be here quite often I can imagine! I travel 36 miles for take out Seafood Boil. Potatoes, corn, headless shrimp in Cajun Garlic sauce twice a month. I love this dish. The owners and waitstaff are always friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is lively, colorful and inviting. I really enjoy the seating as you are not sitting on top of the other patrons, booths are very spacious. Sushi bar is extra fresh, made on demand. We drove an hour one-way in the rain just to fulfill our seafood cravings. It was so worth it. We ordered the number one ocean with an extra pound of headless shrimp an extra half a pound of black mussels with the ocean, juicy flavor, medium spicy, low sodium and some pasta, the service was excellent and very engaging our waitress, a lot of energy and was pretty funny. Really hit the spot. I love crab boils but the wife always ends up just watching me eat while she nibbles on an order of fries or something. Well, she loves sushi so this place was a must try. Our waitress was Tracy and she was superb. I got a boil with Cajun seasoning and she suggested I combo it with the garlic butter and she was not wrong! Wife got sashimi and a roll and was very impressed... and she's pretty picky when it comes to her sushi. Tracy even tried to teach me the best way to eat crawfish (I failed) and suggested the best way to pick up my wife's sushi roll (slightly more success). We're definitely going back to try the specials and ask for the chef (Bob?) to make us something unique from up his sushi sleeve. read more

SERVICE Sam was an excellent host. More importantly we had an amazing waiter named Gary. He was very enthusiastic knowledgeable and very attentive. We have been eaten at this restaurant a couple more time last year and this year. So my update review is this place is doing better and better. They seem have more customers now, the restaurant looks busy. Their server are awesome and friendly. Their food are still really worth the price. We always (I literally mean always) order seafood gumbo whenever we eat there, just love the portion and the flavor. We order some sushi today to try from their signature rolls: coconut shrimp rolls and crunchy jalapeño rolls. Coconut shrimp rolls are drizzled with coconut sauce (sweet); so if you don't like sweet, don't order it. It is delicious but different in a way that I don't expect from sushi roll. Crunchy jalapeño rolls are yummy, no spicy at all and the eel sauce just top up the taste. Will always come back here if they can maintain service and food quality like this. read more

Open and airy with ocean and fish market theme. The tables have paper across them so you're always eating on a clean surface. There are also paper towel rolls. Very strong fish smell coming through the door. The menu changed a year an ago so a lot of the photos we could find on yelp were no longer available. We decided to order a few things and share. We liked what we ordered but we were not given individual plates. When we asked, we got styrofoam plates. This goes along with the paper towel theme I guess, but it did feel like a down grade, especially considering the prices. My son really enjoyed the mango milk tea. I forgot to ask for a water for him and after he finished his drink quickly we were never asked. The food was good and I was very happy that my son tried and liked so many new things. The burrito was his favorite. The sushi was a bit more than he imagined, but he still liked it. We loved the dumplings. So this place seems out of place where it is. This area of Lansing is not the most up-to-date area and looks a bit run down but DON'T let that stop you from trying this place. As you drive by it, the front looks like it should be on the strip of your favorite beach area...just wait until you get inside, you totally forget you are in Lansing, Michigan. We drove by and thought it looked like a place we would try if we were at the beach...so we turned around and went in. (Note: You have to enter the place from the back of the building.) Once you get inside you feel like you have been transported to the beach. The place was great looking. My wife loved the music they were playing. She said it was as if she created her own list to play. Lol To be honest we went in with low expectations because of where it is located in Lansing, it just seemed so out of place. We were greeted by enthusiastic staff. It was their soft opening and no one else was in the place. The lack of people made us think this place looked good but wouldn't be good. We ordered and then they brought us Styrofoam plates and plastic utensils, we figured that was our confirmation of this place not being good. We figured it would be a $75 mistake we could use as a story. Lol Then they brought us our order. WE LOVED IT!!! Reminded us of Joe's Crab Shack food, especially one of their seafood boils with the roll of paper towels and the bucket. We ordered the "Wednesday Special " and it was amazing! So much food and flavor. We got it seasoned with garlic and butter and chose a medium spice. My wife does not like hot flavors and this was perfect. The crab, shrimp and lobster tails were so fresh and cooked perfectly. I also tried out their sweet tea, wow it was great. They served the food in a large aluminum pan and you are able to dip your food into the sauce in that pan...or pour it on to your plate like I did. Lol We had no problem with the plastic utensils or the plate because they brought us seafood shears and crab crackers to break the shells...it was perfect. The staff and manager were so nice and so excited about their new business. The were so kind, polite and attentive. We will definitely go back to this place and work our way through the menu. I sure hope people hear about this place and that they are able to stay in business. NOTE: 5/15/21...They are still waiting on their liquor license but are hoping they receive one soon. read more

Went here for the second time to celebrate my mom's birthday. We enjoyed the fried crawfish and fried pickles off of the happy hour menu. My mom had a Moscow Mule and I had a margarita. They were both five dollars on happy hour special and apps were half price! Our drinks were really good and we enjoyed the crawfish as it was something different that we hadn't tried before. The fried pickles were the normal type out of a jar fried pickles-they were served hot and with dipping sauce, but nothing special. We each got a seafood boil. I had the black muscles, snow, crab, legs, and shrimp with the Cajun sauce. Mom got shrimp clams, and Dungeness crab and garlic butter sauce. I have to say I'm very impressed with the garlic butter sauce. It had a load of fresh chopped garlic and was very tasty. The Cajun sauce was fine, but next time I think I will get the mixed garlic butter and Cajun and I think that will be perfect. the seafood was well prepared and delicious. The potatoes were well cooked, my one complaint is the corn on the cob was very soggy and not much flavor. We had dessert there as well., she had the tiramisu and I had the Keylime pie. note- they have no coffee to have with dessert. Both desserts came out, looking beautiful, but they literally drizzled chocolate sauce all over my Keylime pie. It was attractive, but tasted bad and I scraped it off the best I could. So pro tip have them hold the choc sauce! Overall a fun meal and we will return. read more

We ordered 3 different rolls - Dragon, Ocean, and Sweetheart. All three were very good, but the Ocean was our favorite.
