We had a great dinner tonight. Food was fresh and hot. Service is great. The egg rolls were crispy and hot. We ordered "happy family" and it was perfectly prepared. read more

We had delicious soup, egg rolls and we all loved our main dishes. Kind, fast and delicious food!

We moved to a new side of town so are in search of our new staples: bar, grocery store, convenience store, and Chinese spot. Lucky's is right down the street from our new place and is perfect! We ordered delivery and it was delivered quickly and was hot upon arrival; too hot to eat even right away! The food was fresh and crispy. The chicken was actual pieces of cut of chicken breast deep fried to perfection with the right amount of sauce and spice! The egg rolls were crispy, simple and perfect. And, the hot and sour soup was also spiced to perfection with great consistency, filled with mushrooms and thin bamboo shoots. So good! The delivery driver was kind and quick. We will definitely order again! read more

From start to finish, everything was done well. Our server, Alysa, was attentive without hovering. In fact, we didn't have to ask for a single thing the whole time - refills, boxes, and dressings! I got the 10 oz prime rib, and it was cooked to perfect medium rare. The horseradish sauce was very tasty. The potatoes were decadent with more butter than potato. My wife ordered the salmon New Orleans. She is gluten free, and our server knew the menu well, informing her about what was gluten free and what wasn't. She loved her meal. My oldest got their signature burger, and she also loved it. With the crazy low prices, huuuuuge portions (3 to go boxes), and delicious food, we will definitely be back next time we're passing through. read more

I love lucky house! Everyone there works so hard, and the food is always delicious. Their fried dumplings are the best.

I have been ordering from this restaurant for 18 yrs. However tonight just became the last time. I ordered 3 dishes at 5:25. I was told I would get my food around 6:20. I called at 7 and was told it would be another 25 minutes! No apology, no offer to comp my meal. Just excuses. I suspect they forgot my order! Never again. read more

I really enjoy the food at Lucky House. Very consistent and always hot. Chicken and vegetables and egg rolls are very good! The staff are nice are aways trying to provide great service and quality food. Highly recommended! read more

Mar '24. Our latest visit to this place. Like most restaurants, food quality & server skill can vary greatly. On this occasion we had lake perch & a burger plate. Everything was very well prepared. Food was served timely. Excellent portions. Brews were reasonably priced for this area. Our young male server was very much on-the-ball. The restrooms were in good shape during a busy evening time period. Recd good value for our $$$. All-in-all a very pleasant experience. Would recommend this place. read more

I ordered for the first time last night. I got boneless spare ribs, general tso chicken and wonton soup. Everything arrived piping hot and fresh, 15 minutes before the quoted time. I would definitely recommend lucky house and will keep ordering everytime I'm craving Chinese food. Thank you! read more

Food has no flavor and is very greasy. I have ordered from them for a few years because my daughter liked one dish but I can no longer buy food that always goes in the garbage. Nice people work here but the food is terrible really horrible. I give the food a chance every few months but they say that insanity is doing the same thing over again and expecting different results. Always a Waste of money and now that daughter is not here I will not order again. read more

If I could give a zero, I would. Lucky House had been my "go to" for Chinese take-out for years until my last visit. I ordered 3 combos to eat over a few days. I had one with egg rolls right after I got home and refrigerated the other 2. I had the General Tso. The chicken was tough so I thought it was a bit over done. About 8 hours later when I was in bed I awoke with chills and violent GI distress out of both ends. This went on for over 4 to 6 hours. I was flat on my back for the next 24. When I finally called the restaurant, they said that I needed to go to the doctor and they didn't believe me. I threw out the rest of the food I had gotten. My advice - order at your own risk! I won't be going back! read more

Great food, great service, cute little restaurant! Love this place and will always be willing to drive to Okemos for it!

We went there on a Saturday and said 1/12 wait and then they would close, got a reservation at 6 the next day and waited till to get seated and left. Not a organized place. read more

Normally I wouldn't place an order by phone without looking at a menu, but after a 5.5 drive we didn't feel like going anywhere in person. I called Lucky House after striking out with the first 3 closest Chinese places google maps listed by our hotel (all closed). The man who answered was great about walking me through the dishes they offered and the combo meal specifics. He promised me that his driver was 'very fast', and he didn't lie - our food got here in less than half an hour, as promised. As for the food, we were very happy with the almond chicken. Both with the great taste and generous quantity. We probably could have easily split one, especially since the combo meals included an eggroll (also really good). Since it was below freezing outside, we stuck the leftovers in the trunk and plan to enjoy them later. Gotta find the silver lining when it comes to Michigan winters, right? This place is great if you know what to order. Their heavy fried dishes like General Tso's, Orange, and Sesame chicken too breaded and often overcooked. But their veggie-heavy dishes are great. Their Hunan chicken is fantastic - all the normal veggies (onion, peppers, mushrooms, baby corn, pea pods, water chestnuts, bamboo, broccoli) plus things like lotus root and fermented black beans. Their steamed dumplings are also great. So are their noodle dishes. And if you want to go unhealthy, their sweet n sour chicken bucks the above trend - they do it well. read more

Hands down best in the area. Service was fast and friendly and the food was phenomenal.

I have ordered from them many times. They are consistently good. This time I had the Kung Pao chicken combo. It was fresh and tasty with a ton of chicken. I got the spring roll instead of the standard egg roll. The one negative is the egg rolls aren't so great but the delicious spring roll more than makes up for it. The beef teriyaki sticks are also wonderful, as their Singapore Chow Fun. My husband loves their steamed dumplings, however I am not much of a dumpling girl. Also try the home made hot mustard. Delivery is fast, but slower if you order online. After a few times ordering, they remember your usual orders and preferences which is really nice. read more

Fresh food and very nice staffs! Been eating at Lucky House for a long time. I really like the lo mein noodles and the homemade dumplings!!!! read more

Cheap ingredients and small portions. Ordered cashew chicken, meat was dry and too much MSG. Mouth felt sappy and dry for hours after. Microwave dinners taste better than this. Bathroom was filthy, can't imagine how unsanitary the kitchen must be. Never going back. read more

Absolutely horrible service. The food is mediocre at best, but this is the only place in the area... we used to get 5-10 min delivery. Over the past couple months, our delivery orders have taken over an hour & a half! Mind you, we live just under a mile from there. The only reason we don't go pick it up is because it's a tiny place & still takes forever (and sometimes you skipped!). The last time we ordered, after an hour of waiting, they called to say our credit card number wasn't working...so my wife gave them the right number (thinking she wrote down wrong)... come to find out, they had the orders mixes and called us about someone else's order! Meaning, we probably just paid for their dinner! They're slow & they're sloppy... I will never order anything from there ever again. Everything about it is a disgrace. read more

Halfway through my family eating our Chinese food from Lucky House in Okemos Michigan a local place we had ordered Chinese food for many years, we were disgusted to realize a worm had been in our food. Not your typical worm you see on the sidewalk but a maggot type looking worm. I am repulsed will not continue to purchase my food from here and I highly recommend no one does. It is unsafe and unfit for business. read more

First time here and will be the last. Absolutely horrible food. This is the worst chinese food I've ever had. Worse than any buffet or even freezer isle chinese chicken. Got very basic General Tao with lo mein. The chicken here is deep fried breaded and is similar to the god awful freezer isle chinese you can buy. Absolutely horrible. Egg roll same deal just terrible. Lo mein was at least edible but your better off throwing your meal in the trash from here. It's actually shocking how bad the food here really is. I would recommend not finding out for yourself. read more

We were regulars in ordering carry out from here, usually kung pao and general tso, portions just fine but flavor pretty bland. We stopped going after I saw the cook spit in the floor, which is very dirty. I really doubt the place would pass inspection. read more

First time to lucky house. Egg rolls mealy. Beef was chewy. Lots of food for the $$ but we will not be ordering from here again.

My favorite chinese take out in the area! Best to call your order in and pick up as it's made to order. Normally takes them about 10 min. Food is delicious. My fav lunch combo is Kung-Po Chicken with white rice (normally comes with friend rice) and crab rangoon which you can have eggroll instead if you'd like. $6 for a ton of food. Friendly staff. read more

I've been a fan of Lucky House since 2005. Great food, polite service, and quick delivery or easy pick-up. Highly recommended!

Disappointing. Quick friendly service when I walked in for takeout, but can't understand how one could overcook food so much in that short of time! Sweet n Sour chicken was fried to a hard jerky-like texture, kids wouldn't eat it. Beef & broccoli had limp broccoli and grisly, chewy beef.... Seafood dish was a watery mess... Called them to see if they could remedy our meal and was hung up on before I could even explain my concerns. (I was not rude in any way) Too many other decent options out there to ever consider going back. read more

We've been getting Lucky House food for several years. The quality and quantity are always both high. The "combo"s are a good value; they include the entree, fried rice and an egg roll. Another reviewer called the food "generic". Well, perhaps, but quality matters. One test I always apply to Chinese food is the quality of the beef in the beef dishes, such as Mongolian Beef. That quality has been high at Lucky House every time! Definitely recommended. read more

Wow! The chef is talented... my grandmother ordered the fish special and it was awesome... They did seem a bit confused that we wanted to eat in... but we got fantastic service anyway. Actually some of the best Chinese food that I've had in a long time. read more

Solid take out Chinese food in the Okemos area. Nothing fancy here, just good old americanised chinese food. This is my family's go-to chinese food. Friendly staff, with good food at good prices. read more

We tried to order on-line and paid with a credit card. I received a confirmation of my order. When we arrived to pick up or food, they said they never received the order. If you want unlucky, overcooked, generic, American Chinese, then this place is for you. While the service and quantity is good, the food tastes like blah! We ordered the triple delight, the string beans, and Singapore chow mein, and the first two tasted so similar in terms of the sauce. I felt the string beans were just murdered in the cooking process. it tasted like rubber. The chow men simply tasted like curry-flavored noodles cooked by a 4 yr old. Felt like someone just added curry powder and chili pepper to the noodles. Overall, the food is worth not the trip, or take-out, despite it being close to where we live. I believe there are just "lucky" to remain open all these years. What a waste of space and food! read more

Oh I love this place. The woman at the register always remembers me and my orders. (seriously, she's awesome. She always asks me how school in New York is going) I always get the same thing, honey chicken, lo mein no vegetables and some egg rolls. Everything is made fresh as soon as you order and totally worth it! read more

We usually order and pick up the food, and it's ready in less than 20 minutes. The portions are good, and the food is tasty, although my husband complains that they do not put red pepper in the Kung Pao chicken. Last night we ordered for delivery for the first time, and were told that it would be about 40 minutes. After an hour and a half, we called and said we would come and pick up. Husband drove to restaurant and they hadn't started cooking the food yet. We are looking for a new Chinese restaurant. read more
