Consistently great food. The quality and taste of the food here is much better than other takeout places, and even rivals more expensive restaurants. The food is average. The egg rolls are like a large spring roll. Or a thin egg roll. Make up your mind. Filing is eh. I saw many reviews that the General Tsao's chicken had too much sauce. Not to worry. Now it does not have enough. Its location has the neighborhood captive, but if you can take a ride there are much better options. To be fair the food is not bad. It's not good either. We drive by this place numerous times yet never tried until today. After snow sliding in back yard for two hours. Two boys had good appetite for some warm sugary fatty American Chinese takeout. Yes, my kids finished all! They raved how comforting the food was and they would definitely go back once a while for some childhood memory. It s like a hot dog to them.... For me honestly, too much MSG, sugar and too heavily sauced. I prefer clean taste. I was certain USA is the country consumed sugar the most when I brought up the sugar issue in both dishes. But NO! Staying with my brother-in-law and had just flown in from Florida and had a late lunch. So we were looking for a Chinese restaurant in the area. Strictly a takeout restaurant that has a couple of tables in the waiting area. Everything in behind plexiglass. My wife wasn't hungry so she ordered just Egg drop soup and an egg roll. I ordered the King Po Shrimp , slightly spicy with all kinds of vegetables, good. Came with an egg roll and fried rice. I also ordered the WonTon soup which was like water. read more

First time ordering from Chen's Kitchen, the new Chinese takeout joint that took over for "A Taste of China" and it's a pretty nice improvement. Also a plus, they accept credit cards! Just a simple order of beef & broccoli with water chestnuts and pork lo mein as mains and they were delicious. Both were fresh, vegetables perfectly cooked and sauces flavorful; not too thick, just right. Eggrolls are same stuff you find anywhere, not a big fan. Same goes for the pork fried rice. It's pretty good, but I wish they'd amp it up a little with more onion, peas and old school scrambled egg. If these sides always come with most orders, one wonders why they are usually an afterthought. Again, it's fine but no great shakes, though your own bottled soy & hot sauces will help. Small town places like this should made their own eggrolls or order higher quality rolls for a higher price. People crave these things when they are amazing. There are also only two places on Long Island I know of who make amazing fried wontons. Thankfully one of them is right here in Oyster Bay, rhymes with Snappy Pardon. Overall, the main dishes were excellent and look forward to trying more from the menu. I've uploaded photos of the menu for the rest of us in town, current as of 04/19. Update & Back Again: A pint of Hunan Chicken and Beef w/Scallions is fantastic. Small order of each is just fine for a nice meal for two. Dumplings were supposed to be fried, but were steamed and likely due to a very busy opening weekend. Yet we found a new local favorite; their steamed dumplings are surprisingly great! Solid local Chinese restaurant. It's everything you want out of takeout restaurant. This was our first time trying Chen's and we got the crab rangoons, spring roll, steamed dumplings, chicken and broccoli and pork lo mein. We thought everything tasted delicious. Thi is our first stop in Bayville, NY. We're hungry after a long drive from Chicago. We were craving for Chinese Foods . We stumbled into Chen's Kitchen in Bayville. We ordered Won TonSoup, chicken wings for appetizer. The main courses we ordered Seafood Delight , Kung Pao Beef and house Special Fired Rice. The food was delicious. Its very tasty. I came to the Bayville/Locust Valley area in 1984. Since then, this very storefront has had 3 permutations as the only Chinese Restaurant in town, the first 2 of which were ptomaine palaces. The first one LITERALLY made you sick, and the second opening by a new owner was nearly as bad. It is both a joy and a relief to see that the 3rd time is the charm. This place is GOOD. Oh, it's not Flushing good but it's really, really good local Chinese food for the average non-Asian palate, with several dishes sure to please even a Chinese gourmand. Won ton soup is weak like dishwater but with a drop of extra soy sauce I'd quite decent, although the won tons themselves are lead-like and chewy, and probably the weakest item they serve, although quite edible. So, while I cannot compare Chen's to better fare in Chinatown or in Flushing's Chinatown, I can tell you that you won't be disappointed if you're a Friday night take-out artist. read more

Worst Chinese food I have ever eaten. I was hoping the new owners would be an improvement over A taste of China. The spare ribs were not very meaty and covered in too much BQ sauce. The Shrimp with Bok Choy, only a few shrimp and only the stubs of the Bok Choy, the sauce was poor too. The egg roll was OK The fried rice was barely acceptable. The only good improvement was that they took credit cards. They were very busy because they just opened, I hope they get there act together. read more

This place has the BEST dumplings. The sauce is amazing, i added some of my own chili bean oil. it was perfectly cooked, and the meat was seasoned amazing as well. Also the workers are very polite and are happy to welcome all their customers. I also tried the sweet and sour chicken which was to die for. We had ordered take out at one or two places in Glen Cove for many years but quickly realized that the food at Chen's is consistently of better quality. Yes, the Orient in Bethpage is great but dollar for dollar Chen's is better if take out is what you need. Chen's in Bayville was a great surprise and I'm thrilled to finally have a great Chinese takeout in the Oyster Bay / Bayville area.
