Walked in and I was the only one standing there waiting to order. There were three people behind the counter. One walked away, one started brewing coffee, and another started fixing a deli plate. None of them acknowledged me standing there, ready to order. The phone rang and the the man getting the deli plate together answered the phone and took their order. The girl came out from out back as well. Still, no one waited on me, no one said hi. I walked out. Worst experience I have had in a very long time. Not that it should matter, but I was dressed well, well groomed and can easily afford to dine at this establishment . Additionally, I frequently eat here and have never been treated this way. What a great place! We ordered with 5 minutes left in Breakfast service. They warned us that the kitchen was backed up. Food took a long time to get to us, wearing our patience thin, with people who ordered lunch well after us getting their food first. This would have been a not so great review but for what happened next. The food arrived and it was spot on! Fluffy scrambled eggs, over medium eggs cooked to perfection, the best French Toast my son ever had. This did not completely justify the wait, but management realized this and we received a complimentary plate of pastries to make up for the wait we were warned about. And the pastries were fantastic, so 5 stars for making great food and heads up customer service. read more

Well - we've given breakfast at Chef's Corner a final try and once again have been bitterly disappointed. Blueberry scones - dry, artificial tasting and a dearth of berries. Pancakes - bland and flavorless. Ham quiche - under cooked bottom crust and made with sliced deli ham! Though, perhaps the latter shouldn't have surprised me since the Eggs Benedict I ordered on a previous visit was also made with sliced deli ham. Definitely not what one would expect from a chef owned and operated establishment. As Williston residents we really like the idea of a great local breakfast spot and have tried CC multiple times over the years - always hoping for it to have improved and we always leave making excuses. We noticed today that they have recently redecorated and give them kudos for a pleasant atmosphere and grant that they have some positives (their fresh baked breads are wonderful!) but unfortunately, that's just not enough. Bottom line - We don't mind paying a premium price for quality, but not for mediocrity. read more

Took my daughter for breakfast and we both left very happy! Farm Fresh eggs, fresh baked baguette, VT Maple Sausage and VT Maple Bacon with local has browns were part of the All American Breakfast. O.K., so I have been here for lunch and it is,..well... O.K. I must be missing something. Stopped by today to pick up some cookies for my coworkers and was SHOCKED at the price. Come on $2-2.50 for a SINGLE 3 to 31/2" diameter cookie. Have I been living on Mars or what? I don't consider myself cheap, but I could not enjoy a cookie at that price. I have always found them pricey for cakes $20.00 for a 6" layer cake. I will not be returning. There are plenty of other establishments that offer equally good (or better) fare at much more reasonable prices. read more

I have worked in Williston on and off for the past 16 years and have always enjoyed eating at the Che's Corner. I do have some constructive feedback, but before I get to that, I must call out a couple of notable items. First of all, HAVE THE SOUP. They offer two soups of the day each day and I've never had one I didn't like. Today I had the coconut curry sweet potato soup and it warmed me right down to my soul. Next, they offered a tourtierre (Quebecois meat pie) over the holidays that was one of the best things I've ever put in my mouth. Velvety, perfectly seasoned meat in the most magical, melt-in-your-mouth crust you've ever experienced. Thirdly, their tea service comes with a little shortbread cookie that is to die for. And last, you have to try any one of their amazing pastries, which are all good, though I'm partial to the fudge brownie. In my opinion, two things do need attention at the Chef's Corner: the ordering/paying system and the deli salads. The physical make-up of the front pastry case/register area doesn't lend itself to an orderly process. Two registers are crammed together in the corner and there's often a wait to pay because the process gets backed up. It's very uncomfortable for someone who doesn't do well in crowds or tight spaces. The deli salads are such a wonderful idea. They have about a dozen options ranging from tomato/mozzeralla to roast corn and feta, cold chicken potsticker, and greek salad. Everything looks and sounds delicious, but I've yet to have one of their deli salads that delivers on that promise. Many of them are under-seasoned, swimming in way too much dressing, or taste like they're a couple of days old (mushy vegetables). All of that said, I'm a loyal customer who will continue to come back for the food, the dining room atmosphere and the kind service people. read more

Hi-Ho, Hi-Ho, it's off to Chef's Corner we go..!!!! That has got to be my most favorite thing to hear out of my hubs mouth first thing on a Saturday morning. Seriously, have you had their Eggs Benedict? How about their coffee? Or any of the colorful desserts in the case? Luckily, I'm very much so attracted to both brightly colored and shiny things, so I made many pastry purchases here based on their blinding colors alone... And you know what, they were AWESOMELY delicious to boot. My other half likes to get the All American or the Eggs Benedict for breakfast and will wash it down with a Monument Farms chocolate milk (No, he isn't celebrating his 8th birthday today). I typically go for a coffee containing their regular blend with a splash of hazelnut (I'm fancy like that). Whatever tickles your fancy food-wise, Chef's Corner surely has you covered. Carefully thought out and crafted food is what you can expect here.. I feel the price matches the quality, so no complaints there (I'm no cheapskate, after-all.. Sheesh)... So jazz on Chef's Corner, you rock my world.. Err-- You know what I mean. read more

Great coffee and pastries but is a little more expensive than other places. Takes a little bit to get your coffee but it is tasty! All they're food looks so yummy. All I've tried so far is a few of their cold salads. The ones I picked I happened to not care for hence the 4 stars. I got the sea weed salad (my first mistake) peanut noodle dish, and the pot stickers. I prefer my pot stickers crispy and warm so the doughy cold way tasted weird to me. The sea weed salad was too slimy for me and the peanut noodle dish was just eh. Butter luck next time. Also the portions were very small for the price. I'm used to going to a place called Lemonade in CA that has a cold salad bar and their prices are similar but they give you decent portions, and have waaay better tasting salads. Too bad I'm not in Cali anymore :(. I was hoping this place would be my replacement, maybe not. They are suuuper busy during lunch time, so the rest of their food must be amazing. My dining partner and I were starving by the time we got there and so started by sharing a strawberry cream puff with our coffees. Divine. A light, fluffy pastry filled with slightly sweet cream and topped with fresh strawberries and just a touch of chocolate. Then came the eggs benedict on a freshly made baguette, with ham for me and smoked salmon for him. Yum! This is how hollandaise sauce is supposed to taste! While downtown Burlington restaurants seem to struggle with their hollandaise - too lemony in one place, another place tries to make hollandaise, of all things, good for you - Chef's Corner keeps it rich, traditional, and sinfully creamy. We felt pampered, by the excellent food, though the bill was quite reasonable. Full and with satisfying tastes on our tongues, we wanted to linger, but felt bad doing it when others were waiting for a table. Instead, we picked up some homemade VT cheddar crackers at the counter for later on and headed home. We will DEFINITELY be back! read more

Chefs Corner is a very professional and quality cafe. At one point I used to go there every weekend and get their amazing blackened chicken panini because it was so delicious! Lately though, I have been noticing that the sandwich is getting a bit smaller and the price higher. Chef's corner is no McDonalds so you cant expect cheap prices, but I am a bit sad that this, though I will still keep coming. I would give them five stars if their already relatively priceyness wasn't getting priceyer. Nonetheless, I recommend Chef's Corner Cafe & Bakery! read more

Chef's Corner reminds me of a mix of a San Franciscan breakfast place and an Icelandic coffee shop (yes I am a pretentious ass, I'll own up to it!) Seriously, I felt whisked away to places further than Vermont when I stepped food into this cute cafe and bakery. Not to diss VT at all (after all, I love this state!) but it definitely felt more welcoming than most places, with it's sweet Winter decorations, aromas of goodies, and displays of pastries, cookies, quiches, pre-made salads galore. My husband and I decided to stay and eat breakfast. The ordering system is; go up to the register, place your order, get a number, choose a place to sit, food gets delivered to you. Admittedly, this isn't my favorite type of setup but I didn't mind so much in this case. My husband got the all American breakfast with maple sausage (yummmm), eggs over easy and homefries. He said that his eggs were cooked perfectly and the maple sausage was delicious (I had a bite and you can definitely tell that it's not frozen). I ordered the traditional eggs benny with homefries. The eggs are served on honey ham (naturally) but in this case, served on challah bread. I'm not sure if the bread was made in house but I'm inclined to say yes! Everything tasted so fresh- from that delicious challah, to the perfectly seasoned ham, to the delightfully poached eggs, to the tasty hollandaise sauce. I haven't had a decent eggs benny in awhile. My only gripe is that the homefries were only meh. But please don't let it deter you from trying them! Honestly, I was so full after my benny that even if the homefries were perfect, I wouldn't have been able to finish them. All in all, yummy food, decent service, and I will be back to try their pastries next time! read more

I had brunch at Chef's Corner several weeks ago and ordered French Toast with Pure Vermont Maple syrup. Clearly, the syrup was not pure maple but more like Log Cabin. When I complained, I was told that others had complained as well. A couple of weeks prior to that, I had ordered soup & sandwich and had to send it back three times before the order was correct. I totally disagree with Kiki's review !! Found this place by my Hotel and it is incredibly awesome! First of all - the pastries are world class and so are the dishes. The ingredients couldn't be more fresh! My friend and I were here everyday even though we had a free breakfast at our hotel. The 2nd best thing is the employees, they are super friendly and remembered us everytime we came in and asked us how we were enjoying our visit!! I don't think they are over-priced and you could easily have coffee and toast for under $5 - but the pastries are too tempting to pass up. You order at the counter and then sit down, the regular coffee is free refills and personally I prefer being able to refill my own cup because I've waited as long as 10 minutes at popular restaurants hoping someone with a coffee pot would see my empty cup!! Then they bring you your order and clean up the empty tables efficiently all the while asking you if you need anything. Please go here if your in the area - it's so worth it!!! read more
