We decided to take out from Chef Tai's Chinese Take Out tonight as I had heard wonderful recommendations on their food. We ordered the large size of Wonton Soup which was more than enough for the two of us in that it had 8 wontons and was yummy. I'd like to add that they were the best we've had in Florida! We are NY transplants and supposedly we are fussy about our Chinese food, I hear!? We then had two eggrolls - also excellent- and then our main dishes. They were in large covered styrofoam to-go boxes, the type with compartments and it was loaded with food and HEAVY! No one could ever claim to be hungry after eating that. We each had MANY pieces of honey garlic chicken and fried rice as our main courses and we were sent two containers of the honey garlic sauce in case we wanted it more saucy. Honey Garlic Chicken is what we order wherever we eat Chinese food. We both love it and we can really judge a Chinese restaurant by the way this dish tastes. At Chef Tai's This Dish Is A Winner!!! Best we've had in all the years we've been here in South Florida. This takeout restaurant definitely will go on our rotation! As for pricing, I am so happy to say that I finally found an affordable place for great chinese food! We DoorDashed it and the food was at our door in Delray within 30 minutes of ordering it! Chef Tai's is my favorite local place for take-out Chinese food. They do their own delivery to the local area, and they are also on Door Dash and Uber Eats. The food has been consistently good. I've tried many menu items and I haven't been disappointed yet. If you are looking for Americanized Chinese food, I highly suggest stopping by and picking up some take-out. Mongolian Beef, Pork Lo Mein, Krab Rangoons, and the Boneless Ribs are my favorites. They use white meat chicken in most of their dishes. Try the Kung Pao, it's very good! Take-out and delivery only. I had this delivered today at work and I will say they quoted us 45 minutes for the food and it came in like half the time, so they are super speedy which is nice. Prices are fair. Only downside was the food did not taste as good as other Chinese I've had in the area. I got the lunch chicken and broccoli with fried rice and the fried rice had literally no flavor or any toppings in it. It tasted like bland white rice and had maybe 2 peas in the whole thing. Ordered Mongolian Beef and stating "spicy" was an understatement. This was INEDIBLE, the dish was thrown away. We could not finish it and immediately caused intense heartburn and indigestion issues. Chef Tai ( take out only) is in a strip mall in Boca, that's easy to miss as it's a home in the wall with pretty good Chinese food. Small, with a little counter and a few chairs is the decor. I ordered , then picked up for my family. Wonton soup ( good), boneless ribs ( good), egg rolls ( good), dumplings ( fair), General Cho's chicken ( very good), Mongolian Beef( (too spicy yet good), Roast Pork chow mein ( spicy but good), fried rice ( fair to good). I never once had a bad experience at this establishment, the food has been consistent and whoever is behind the counter speaks clearly and acts in an approachable manner. Are there Chinese restaurants with better deals? Probably, but this one is still very convenient and not outrageously priced. Last time I came here I got pork fried rice and even though the sign said closed they still served me. I really do appreciate what this family owned business contributes. I look forward to getting food from here after my shift some days. I'll always be back, just know this place is better for getting food to take home, not many places to sit down to eat nearby. P.S. Chef Tai's is in an old shopping center that looks like it's on the verge of collapse. I drive past this place daily but because of its recessed location and being obscured by the Mobil Station I would not know it even existed. The takeout shop offers a long-dated menu of NY Chinese American dishes. A few items I ordered were okay but everything else we had to toss because we didn't like it. I was a little hesitant to order after reading some mixed reviews. My friend and I decided to go and order at the restaurant and take it to go instead of ordering delivery. There was a very articulate, knowledgeable young man, who I assume is the new owner's son, working at the front. He answered all of our questions and entered our orders expeditiously. I ordered the General Tso chicken dinner and was charged an extra $1 for requesting brown rice. The dinner came with an egg roll and a soup. Definitely worth the $12! I would recommend bringing cash because they have coupons on their menus that you can use for free eggrolls, crab rangoon, etc. While we waited for the food, which took about 15 minutes, we saw several people coming in to pick up orders. Their idea of sesame dumplings was to sprinkle raw sesame seeds on thick tasteless wontons and cover the mess in sweet, red, tasteless "sauce." Worst I've ever had and inedible.
