Heard so much about this place and decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, it was not up to par. The restaurant is quite dirty and the waitress herself was extremely spicy. She had such a condescending tone and was extremely sassy. Food was mediocre at best, I think that the only thing that draws people to this place, which I actually found frustrating was each item was served as a combination platter with soup, egg roll, entrée, rice, dessert. There is an additional plate sharing fee, but if I'm having dinner with a small child there's no chance they would be able to consume such an abundant amount of food to order their own combination entrée so then you have to suck it up and pay the plate sharing fee read more

Stopped by Beijing Palace last night for takeout after not visiting for a while. We kept it simple--chicken chow mein and an egg roll for my wife, and I tried the General Tso's shrimp, which was a special on the menu board that night. My wife said her meal was "okay," nothing standout but decent. The shrimp dish looked great when I opened it, but the flavor didn't quite match the presentation. I was expecting something similar to General Tso's chicken--just with shrimp--but it turned out much milder, with very little sauce and not much of the flavor I was anticipating. The gentleman at the counter was pleasant, but while I was waiting, one of the servers didn't come across as particularly friendly with customers. Could have just been an off night. On the plus side, the food was hot and ready when I got it home. Not a bad experience, but probably not at the top of our list to return to right away. read more

So disappointed with my take out order that I threw away the boneless pork ribs. I called and complained but it fell on deaf ears. She needed proof that the ribs were bad and would not take my word. The ribs were dry, stringy and obviously very old. That it was used in a take out order is a warning to others that Beijing palace takes shortcuts in food prep. As for me we have other restaurant to go to in future. This place should expect the health department to visit. read more

We had an excellent lunch here. Besides the fact that the menu is so reasonably priced, the lunch specials were very, very good. They include a choice of soup, a choice of rice, your entree, and dessert. We had good friendly service in the small sit-down restaurant. As others have said, it's a bit hidden as it is tucked into a corner of the shopping center. But parking was easy in the lot right out front. They were also doing a lot of takeout orders while we were there. We were immediately brought hot tea and water along with the menus. I started with their wonton soup. A tasty broth -- not overly salted or strangely yellow as in some places. He had the hot and sour soup and liked it, as well. The large crispy noodles that they give you were addictive. I had their char siu pork. It is cubed roast pork along with vegetables -- snow pea pods, bok choy, baby corn, etc. in a brown sauce. I got white rice to go along with it. My husband had their Szechuan chicken. He said it had just the right amount of medium spice. He got brown rice (at no extra charge) to go along with his entree. For dessert, we had our choice of ice cream or sherbert. We both chose the coconut ice cream which was wonderful. I love coconut. The bill for both of us was under $20 -- a rarity these days! We will definitely be back as there are a number of other favorite comfort dishes I would like to try. read more

Love this very old fashioned remnant of the 60's. Reminds me of when my father used to take us out for Chinese once a month in 1968. Love the old fashioned individual covered servers. I never see those around anymore. Keeps food nice and hot. Be aware that although the food and service and prices are great, the place has not been maintained and is slightly dilapidated. It doesn't bother me, I would not take a date here but I come to eat all the time. Best egg rolls. Every combination meal served with hot tea, fried noodles and free ice cream. Unlimited homemade duck sauce and house mustard! You can't even get house mustard at most places anymore. Good lunch and dinner specials, very reasonable. Service with a smile every time! read more

Prices are just right. Hot and sour soup was pipping hot, as I like it, delicious too. Egg rolls are big and crispy. BBQ spare ribs are big, tender and juicy. Portions are pretty good size. Service was excellent. Run by the friendly family and will definitely go back. read more

I'll start out by saying I'm giving Beijing Palace 5 stars for what it is. It's a neighborhood Chinese spot that does a lot of takeout and has a classic small dining space. It's exactly how you would expect a sit down neighborhood Chinese restaurant to look. So now the food. There's a severe lack of decent Chinese food in this area. I'm always searching out new places and they almost always disappoint. This wasn't the case with Beijing Palace. I got the Kung Pao Chicken lunch special which includes hot tea, soup, rice, and dessert. I went with the Hot and Sour soup and it did not disappoint. I usually find this is a good barometer as to how the rest of the meal will go if they can get the soup right, and they nailed it. Lot of depth in flavor. Tangy. Mildly spicy. Excellent. I ordered my Kung Pao Chicken extra spicy because I love some heat in my Kung Pao. Chinese restaurants around here are notorious for under spicing their "spicy" dishes. Maybe because of the old people. But Beijing Palace nailed it. Even had a little forehead sweat towards the end of my meal. Really flavorful. Chicken was tender. And great portion size. Very happy with it. The fried rice was a little underwhelming but whatever. It's rice. I also got an egg roll and it was crispy, hot, and delicious. Exactly how I like my egg rolls. And now for the best part.....my bill came out to $11. You can't even go to McDonald's anymore for $11. So in conclusion, is this going to be the best Chinese food you've ever had? Probably not. But for the price and what else is out there in the area, I would have to say Beijing Palace is probably the best combination of flavor and cost that I've found around here. I have been ordering carryout from Beijing Palace for some time. Their quality and order accuracy has really slipped over the past months. The order before last was incomplete with an item missing, and my last order turned out to be the wrong entree when I opened it up at home. The quality and taste of the food is not what it used to be either. When I called about the wrong item and asked for a credit I was told I would have to make a return trip to the restaurant, which I did not want to do because of the distance involved. We have been eating here two or three times a month for the past ten years, usually for lunch. Its decor is simple and pleasant. The service is always attentive and efficient. The fried wonton served (free) before the meal is crunchy and delicious, made on the premises. Hot tea is also complimentary. There are about 30-40 lunch choices on the menu, more in the evening. Everything I've tried here is good. Prices are very reasonable and include a scoop of ice cream (several choices) or sherbet. I really enjoy eating here and recommend it heartily. read more

I love this restaurant ever since the first day I discovered it. True it hasn't been remodeled in years and there are water-stained ceiling tiles, but the food is prepared with care and delicious not to mention reasonably priced. The prices have gone up slightly since the first time I went there but still very reasonable. I love these old-style Chinese restaurants like Bejing Palace where they still put down a pot of hot tea and crispy noodles that seem house made to me. Not only that, just try to find another Chinese restaurant anywhere that serves dessert with lunch and their ice cream is an excellent quality. My favorite dishes to order are General Tso's Chicken, Shrimp in garlic sauce, Lemon chicken, Shrimp or Chicken with Chinese Eggplant, Chow Mein and many others. Brown rice is always available as an option. Their dinner menu is more complex. Lunch is served form 12-3 M-S, no lunch on Sunday and they are closed on Mondays. Place has been here 28 years and is a throw back the clock gem worth seeking out. Sure the oil may have been changed twice in those 28 years but the roast pork fried rice, shrimp with lobster sauce and wanton soup knocked it out of the park. So one thing right off the bat I do think is a positive, is that you can pretty much get a full meal here for dirt cheap. When you sit down, every table has crunchy noodles with duck sauce, which was fantastic. I think during the time we were there, we finished 3 bowls. So addictive. The meals come with a lot of food, but not all of it good. I could barely eat the egg roll. I'm not sure what they put in it, but it just tasted off. I didn't take more then one bite. The wonton soup tasted like water, just didn't have a lot of flavor to it. The fried rice, that came out with the main meal, I found totally inedible. It has no flavor, and kind of tasted dirty. I didn't have more then a few bites. The Chicken in Garlic Sauce was decent. It doesn't come with a lot of chicken in it, they really overcompensated with the vegetables. The General Tsos Chicken was super spicy, good taste. As a dessert, I got the Pistachio Ice Cream, which was a nice refreshing way to end the meal, and clean the palate from all the heavy Chinese food. The waitresses were all very nice, and tried to really do a good job serving by refilling waters frequently, checking up on us, and such. The place itself is a bit dumpy, but I think that adds to it's charm. I remember going to places like this years ago and loving it. Plenty of tables, and only a few other diners when we went. The food is good but not as flavorful as I would like . The wonton as with everything was good to very good but not great . The meal packages are well worth the money . I had the moo shu pork fresh vegetables ect was very good - fresh ingredients but the pancakes too thick and cold . The sauce was good . Also the soup and all food were just barely warm . I liked the ice cream and cookie included with the meal for desert. Overall well worth the money . Get there early or you will wait a long time or if four or more you can call for reservations. We got the mixed soup, which was ok, but their fried noodles were VERY good. The Happy Family was packed full of everything and tasty. Egg Rolls were nice and crispy.
