The Beef Chow Fun was outstanding - perfectly wok-tossed, loaded with tender beef and those chewy noodles that just makes the difference. The Orange Beef? So tender you could cut it with chopsticks, and the sauce was spot-on sweet and tangy. Chicken Broccoli was fresh, flavorful, and exactly what you want in a classic dish. Piling on here but went last night and hadn't been for years--loved it before and it was nowhere near as good. I love a good fast American-Chinese spot and they were swamped but wontons overcooked, a lamb dish was hot *and* cold depending on which part of the plate you tasted: sweet and sour chicken bathing in flouresced ketchup sauce (so deep it spilled off all the sides) and the real killer was the bland fried rice. We weren't seated until a half hour past our reservation. The people with reservations were standing in a line mixed in with people picking up takeout.The bookings were definitely too many for the staff to handle. True, it was a holiday night but the confusion at the entrance could have been avoided by simple signage directing those with reservations one way or another and those picking up takeout the other way. We were a party of four. Three soups came out and a good ten minutes passed until the fourth came out. Then, two entries came out, ten minute wait for the others but one was wrong. Another ten minutes wait for the last one. Staff just overwhelmed by the crowd. We had a good lunch here. I've been trying to find new dine-in Chinese restaurants and this place had been suggested online. They have a lot of lunch specials. Their crispy soup noodles were addictive by the way. They are the wide house made type. We had another bowl of these. All lunches come with soup and choice of rice. As well as a pot of hot tea. I'd like to come here again and order something different. So far, this was one of the better dine-in Chinese meals we've had -- even though we ordered wrong. I got their wonton soup. It was good, but I wished it had been served hotter. I was hungry so didn't complain. My husband liked his hot and sour soup. It had the right ratio of sour in it. I had been craving a standard American dish of subgum chicken chow mein. Not many places make it. So that's what I ordered with white rice. It was bland but that's how the dish is usually. I added some duck sauce to it to give a bit of pizzazz. The white meat chicken was good and the veggies were crispy. I liked it though it's not what I usually order nor what I'd get there again. We started off with the soup, which was egg drop wonton, which was a little bland with one wonton. The egg roll was a nice size, and my shrimp with lobster sauce came with a large amount of jumbo shrimp, which was good. My husband thought the Kung pao chicken was a little bland. I found China Gardens by accident. It is in a strip mall off of Military Trail North or Atlantic Ave. in Delray Beach. They advertised fresh vegetables and it lived up to this billing. The waitress staff does not greet customers and rushes customers to give them the food order. We were treated with disrespect and felt unwelcome. This is a repeat occurrence. OK if you want old-school Chinese food this is the place to go in Delray right off military and Atlantic in a small little shopping plaza it has been there for years. They start with their crispy wontons duck sauce and hot mustard, oh my goodness look out for the hot mustard it will literally make your eyes tear and watery. We started with eggrolls they were absolutely delicious hot and fresh, my husband ordered the beef and broccoli and I ordered the Mushu pork. The service is excellent everybody is very accommodating within 15 minutes the food came out fresh in piping hot, we each took the first bite and it was absolutely delicious. We had a hankerin' for some Chinese food and went to our favorite place: China Gardens. We were happy to see that their takeout/delivery business continues to thrive. The restaurant was pretty empty though... good for us but not so good for the restaurant. As always, the food and service were excellent. China Gardens features a large list of combination dinners, and my husband had the chicken sub gum chow mien with an egg roll and wanton soup. Everything was delicious. The entrée portion size was generous and included plenty of white meat chicken. I had my "usual" chicken fried rice. Enough for two meals! My only complaint is that it's served uncovered on a long platter and the food quickly gets cold. The round cover I was provided upon my request didn't quite fit over the rectangular plate. It's a geometry thing! The scoop of ice cream that accompanies the combo dinner tasted like it had some freezer burn. The restaurant definitely needs more customers to ensure the ice cream isn't languishing in the freezer. Not surprisingly, the prices have gone up a bit since our last visit. Food has gone down markedly since the last time I was there (6 months ago). It came out barely warm. Egg rolls were overcooked and greasy. Soup was room temperature. My boneless spare ribs were slices of pork, covered in sauce not charred or grilled. It tastes like it was on the verge of spoiling. My friend ordered a Miller Lite, after server offered it as a domestic bar, only to be told they were out of Millet Lite! BUT the really disgusting part of our meal was when my friend pulled a piece, about 1 1/2" long, of stiff, heavy wire from her meal. Thankfully she didn't swallow it! The owner's response was to apologize and give some lame excuse about chef having to cook lots of food even when repairs are happening and sometimes these things happen and the can't find pieces the fly off! She offered us a 20% discount on our check. I feel we should not have paid for that meal at all but my friend was paying so.... Then when we went to pay the check the hostess wouldn't give my friend her check or credit card back before the waitress confirmed a tip was left on the table! We tipped the waitress (15%) as it wasn't her fault. But thought it very rude of the hostess to hold the credit card and slip until it was confirmed. I would not recommend this restaurant especially after researching and finding numerous health code violations. read more

Authentic Chinese! You can tell when a place is a little downtrodden/corner-cutty that you're getting the real deal, haha. Staff were all nice to us but a little slow at first to assist us with taking our order. But it gave us time to study the extensive menu. So many numbers and choices! Really made it hard to narrow down... good problem to have! We got three dishes and all three were very tasty and flavorful. Price point was decent considering that our plates each included a cup of soup, spring roll, bowl of rice, ice cream and fortune cookie. Gotta say, I've never had ice cream from a Chinese restaurant before, but it was good!
