The food is amazing! I got the Lemon pepper wings with a side of Jerk Chicken. I subbed the fries for rice and peas. They added oxtail gravy to the rice, added bonus! Also the food is extremely tasty. You can taste every flavor in each bite. The lemon pepper wings are dry rubbed, but this saucy variation was not to Joy tastebuds. It's almost as if you can eat the rice by itself. It is nice and flavorful. I'm super happy to have visited the new location in Davie. The place is huge and I plan on visiting with my team. He was so nice and friendly. He explained how they make everything in house and they even make some of their juices in house as well. He talked to us for approximately ten minutes and it was so awesome to meet him. There are not a lot of chefs that will come out from the kitchen and talk to the customers. This gives the place a nice added touch. The only suggestion that I have is that they should have free refills on soda. They don't have a soda machine and thus, they provide cans and/or bottles. My husband and I are Jamaican and went to try Chef Reece Kitchen since it's the most convenient location for us. We had high hopes and were satisfied with our meals. The portions were generous. The restaurant was clean, bright and had seating both inside and outside. There was a dish of hard candy on the counter which was reminiscent of my grandmother's home. There was a 15-20 minute wait for the order, so next time we will probably call ahead and pick up. It was nice knowing that our food was being prepared fresh to order versus other nearby Jamaican restaurants which almost offer buffet style service. I enjoyed one of their bottles of natural juice while we waited. The mango passion juice was sweet and refreshing and felt like I was back home drinking fresh fruit juice. My husband enjoyed his oxtail with rice and peas. The gravy was rich and flavorful. My kids enjoyed the baked macaroni and cheese. I finally made it to CRK. This restaurant is beautiful and clean. We arrived a little after 4:00 pm and the restaurant was not busy. We ordered at the kiosk in the front and paid for our meals. I was getting a pedicure nearby and my nail technician, who is married to a Jamaican, told me the food was good. I was a bit disappointed that the lunch menu only had two items, jerk chicken and fried chicken. Since I recently had some jerk, I opted for the fried chicken. My food was ready in about 10 mins. The chicken was piping hot and well seasoned. And, as I had chosen on my order, my rice and peas was covered with oxtail gravy (to my delight). I got two chicken legs and a small piece of breast, the rice, and some steamed cabbage. The lunch special was $6.99. The rice was plentiful and so good I could have eaten it all. But I saved a piece of chicken and some of the rice to bring home for my hubby to try. The Chef Reece menu does not have the typical Jamaican fare. There is no brown-stew chicken, no curried chicken, no stew peas and rice, and no soups. Curried goat is available only on Fridays and Saturdays. This was an experience I was looking forward to it being a 5 star experience, but it fell short and the two contributions were the lack of tenderness to both meat dishes and the long time to wait for what we received. The ambiance and friendliness of the staff were a five and that was nice but we were hoping for the oxtail and jerk chicken pasta would've been a hit! The oxtail had nice flavor but the meat was tough and the same could be said about the chicken breast slices that are over the pasta. It's almost as if the chef is afraid to undercook the meat, so they overcook it and it simply takes away from the experience. The rice and peace, macaroni and cheese and the pasta for the jerk chicken was flavorful and plenty. I hope this is an area they can improve on to make the experience better. And waiting few minutes shy of an hour to have this was a let down. We were quoted 29 minutes for the pasta and it, along with the oxtail came out 53 minutes later.
