We have gone to Chef Geoff New Mexico Avenue since it opened for the delicious hamburgers. We don't go often now because the parking is difficult to pay and has doubled in price. $8 is too much to pay for an hour or so at lunch. read more

Our first visit on a busy Monday night was memorable solely because of the bartender Erin who exudes hospitality. The all day Monday Happy Hour menu is a treat, but Erin's friendly and attentive service makes it all the better! We have been enjoying Chef Geoff''s, our neighborhood favorite, for many years. What prompted the review was the particularly special service tonight at dinner. We were seated in the perfect corner table. The ambiance is always superb! Our waiter, Chad, made the night perfect. His attention to detail and perfect blend of engaging conversation without ever lingering too long was fabulous. Service is usually quite good but lately it has felt more like family. You should ask to be seated in Chad's section if possible. read more

The gated parking garage located behind the building, with the entrance from the driveway on the southern side from the restaurants. We made a group reservation with preselected three courses menu - each course has three options, so 27 different combinations. The party room located on the farthest left indoors. There was a bar and five round tables. The mirror behind the bar made the room looked much larger. The bar served Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio. The servers and waiters were warm and friendly. Crispy Calamari was still soft inside. Blackened Salmon was still tender. White Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake was a good finish. read more

This is a great pop of flavour to a classic drink. Caramelised onion dip: $8 I live for dips, so this was a great sharable option for HH. Mama Mia! Slider: $5 DELISH, perfect bite if something whilst enjoying a bevvy. Cheese pizza pie: $10 Classic, great HH addition/ easy to share. Butternut & ricotta ravioli: $22 Decadent and full of home-y flavour. Olivado: $15 Beautiful drink with warm flavours. Overall, a awesome happy hour. Great restaurant with a great outdoor area and lots of seating. You wouldn't know by the reviews or by walking by, but you need to make a reservation in advance for any outdoor seating. Odd that it is one of the hardest places to get a reservation in D.C., but we have had to make a reservation 1-3 days in advance to get a table. We had to go elsewhere a few times when calling the same day and were told they were fully booked. The food overall is really good. We love the sweet and spicy cauliflower appetizer. It is one of our favorites. It is definitely more on the spicy side and if you don't like spicy, then I would avoid because it does have a kick to it. We have also had the fish tacos, loaded steak salad, bean burger, and fired chicken sandwich. All of the meals we have had have been good without any complaints. read more

We are repeat customers at Chef Geoff's--we especially love the mushroom ravioli, but everything we've ever had has been delicious and memorable. The variety of food and beverage options makes it a place we like to bring friends and family when we're visiting D.C. since we know everyone will find something great to eat. The decor has a comfortable, pretty vibe & you'll feel comfortable there whether you're casual or more dressed up. The service at Chef Geoff's is outstanding: attentive and friendly. On May 22 we had excellent service by the charming and fun Riccardo L. Our foursome arrived early, enjoyed a leisurely drink and yummy appetizer (Goat Cheese & Date Flatbread), and then enjoyed dinner (we all had the ravioli with some shared side dishes of broccoli and green beans--all great). 1. Went to make a reservation on the site; redirected not only to a scheduling website, but then it switched me from the New Mexico location to the other location. I did not catch it, but ... 2. Good news - the New Mexico location was able to accomodate us on a Fri night at 715 for a party of 6, so kudos to them. 3. The food was good and reasonablely priced. The wine pour could be a bit more generous, but ... 4. When asked about coffee, (a) thy said they took away the espresso machine bc they were not selling much of it; the coffee they had was cold; and because it was a large coffee machine it was not worth their while to make coffee for two at our table. Outrageous!!! What kind of eating establishment is this that asks what do you want for dessert/apres meal and does not have coffee? Get a machine and some capsules. [BTW, capuccino was on the dessert menu, but they had no way to make it.] read more

We went for restaurant week which I understand would have limited options. With that said, the house rose was decent and modestly priced (we purchased additional glasses a la carte). I ordered the rigatoni and my husband had the salmon from the healthy options. The rigatoni with the creamy vodka sauce was good and the burrata it came with made it even better. I like spicy food so a healthy dash of crushed red pepper topped it off. My husband's salmon was grilled and served with a side of tzatziki sauce and broccoli. I had a taste of the salmon and I'd order it for myself next time. We skipped ordering a dessert as part of the RW menu, instead requested an additional round of wine. Overall a pleasant experience. Nothing that blew my socks off but the service was good. The patio seating had a decent crowd and the inside dining room was a little over half filled. I would recommend this place to any friend who's looking for a casual fare. read more

Chef Geoff's is approaching legendary restaurant status in DC--On the New Mexico Corridor between Georgetown and the American University west of Tenleytown on Nebraska Avenue. There is ample parking and Cheff Geoff's great and varied menu. I especially enjoy his Mediterranean dishes--Mediterranean salad with many additional protein items. The fish, and other dishes from vegetarian to pasta & meats/poultry make this an ideal place for all occasions. The ambiance is modern and appropriate for a date or a casual dinner with friends. The service is always friendly and helpful. I need to go more often even though I live in NYC as I am not only a New Yorker but also a Washingtonian. read more

Had a lovely dinner here complete with a pre dinner cocktail and a skilled cookie for dessert. From start to finish everything was delicious. We tried the Brussels sprouts and jalapeño crispy cauliflower as appetizers which were both great. Then my friend had the salmon and I had the shrimp scampi. The salmon was topped with a pineapple salsa over a bed of rice and corn which complimented the light flavored dressing beautifully. The shrimp scampi was creamy and buttery as you would hope and there was a plentiful portion of shrimp. We finished the meal with the freshly baked skilled cookie topped with ice cream to share. It was rich, chewy and warm-- a perfect way to end the meal. Our server was attentive and despite us being distracted by chatting and forgetting to look at our menus for a while he never made us feel rushed. They validate parking at this location in the lot behind the restaurant which is usually very convenient but unfortunately they are doing construction on the lot at this time so the parking spots are limited and I had to wait a while for someone to leave so I could take their spot. My advice is to give yourself plenty of time to get inside if meeting someone there in the near future. read more

We finally stopped by at this location if Chef Geoff's after passing it multiple times, and it was a nice experience! There was ample indoor and outdoor seating, with some umbrella shade to protect you from the sun/rain outside. Since we had made a reservation earlier in the day, we were seated immediately we showed up. We started with the chorizo and beef empanada appetizer, which came with a smooth avocado sauce that nicely complemented with the crunch of the empanadas--definitely recommend that you try them. We also ordered the blacken ahi tuna tacos, which came with a slight spicy sauce and also had some avocados in reach of the 3 tacos--the tacos were also decently sized, compared to some other places in the DC area. The shrimp scampi linguine was also good, with the classic garlicky flavor of the pasta immersed in a light pasta sauce. The dishes were pretty filling and tasty. The service and staff was very good. While some restaurants may choose to not charge for sparkling water, we definitely noticed that our order of sparkling water showed up on our bill (about $11), so that's something to keep in mind when you're asked about what kind of water you'd prefer. All in all, I'd say that it was a nice dining experience and will be happy to stop by again. read more

Stopped by for lunch today and decided to try out the fish and chips. The chips (I asked for sweet potato fries) were cold and limp. The "fish" consisted of three extremely small, finger sized pieces of fish surrounded by significant jackets of tasteless, unseasoned fried batter that was extremely greasy and left me with severe stomach problems. This was my first time dining at Chef Geoff's, on New Mexico Ave. The Restaurant Week options were awesome. The full lunch menu (with many interesting dishes) was available for the 3-course lunch. I chose fried calamari, Madras curry chicken and apple cider donuts. Each was delicious!!! Enough so that I look forward to returning to enjoy these again and to try other dishes. Been here for happy hour a few times. They have good happy hour items, but I'd say usually 50% of our food/drink are actually tasty. One time I got a cocktail that was so clearly rancid. Not sure if they used rancid pineapple juice or what, but it tasted like cleaning spray. read more

Wow! We came for restaurant week brunch. It was $35 and we could pick three courses from the menu. It was a fantastic deal. Everything was amazing. I'm usually good at taking photos but everything was so good I couldn't wait to dig in. The chocolate cookie and chocolate mousse desserts were fantastic. The cheddar biscuits and the donuts.
