Hands down some of the best soups I've ever had. My favorite is the seafood. It's loaded with shrimp and crab in a light easy sauce. The chicken and rice is good too. I'm not vegan but those are tasty as well. The deserts are really good, especially the turtle bars and the lemon squares. I've only had the shrimp salad once but she nailed it. Charlotte was so sweet. We ordered strawberry vanilla cake for my husband's birthday. It was amazing. I wish I would have taken pictures but we were so busy eating. I love that the strawberries were fresh and not jellied. The cream cheese frosting was not too sweet. We also ordered lunch and then came back for more. Drove from Miami up to Savannah for the weekend and stopped into Chef Charlotte's Confections for pastries on Saturday morning. I had seen on her website that she had some gluten-free items, but when my wife (who has Celiac Disease) saw the variety of items on display, she was flabbergasted. We ended up purchasing about $40 dollars worth of items to take back with us, and now that some time has passed and my wife has had an opportunity to sample several of them, she can't wait for us to return to Savannah. She pronounced the confections the best that she's ever tasted. They were so good, in fact, that she said it was hard to believe that they didn't have flour in them. In addition to the pastries (see photos below), my wife also purchased a gluten-free chicken pot pie that my wife also said was delicious. Chef Charlotte's is hidden away in the back of Mercer Plaza, so you really have to know it is there and seek it out. And boy, will you be happy that you did! read more

I don't write reviews often, but I had to write one for Charlotte. I was staying with friends for New Years on Tybee Island, and decided to sneak out to get some pastry for my hosts. First went to Jitterbug, which is now closed -- permanently apparently. So I stumbled on Charlotte's on the way to buy store-bought stuff at a grocery store. It looks small from the outsider, and for this northerner less used to beach culture, I wasn't sure, but Charlotte was right there rolling out dough and the food was _heavenly_. I brought back cinnamon rolls, muffins, and some other stuff to the house, and then we ate it all within a few minutes. Charlotte's cinnamon rolls are to Cinnabon what heaven is to hell. We were back there within 2 hours to put in an order for a red velvet cake for New Year's Eve and we savored every last crumb. Plus, in addition to being an amazing baker, Charlotte herself was just as sweet as her food. She was just celebrating a year of business -- don't wait to go try out her food! read more

I love finding hidden places like this. I do mean hidden because I was specifically looking for this place and I had trouble finding it. You have to go to Mercer Plaza, which at first I thought was just a regular strip mall. You actually have to go inside a general entrance and then walk to the back of the building. Next to a fountain you'll find Chef Charlotte. I found her to be friendly and engaging. She has a small place but there are some tables and she provides free WiFi. I thought the crumb cake I got was excellent. It was moist and there was a layer of apple, which is something I haven't had before in a crumb cake. My peanut butter cookie was ok but I'll probably try another flavor next time. I was disappointed that she was out of cinnamon rolls before 11am but that gives me something to look forward to for my next visit. When I was paying I spotted a Square reader and asked if she accepted Apple Pay. She wasn't sure but we tried it and it worked. Score one for Chef Charlotte. Her hours seem to be lunch only but her pastries are also sold at Friendship Coffee Company across the street. They stay open later. read more

It's a nice place hidden away in a very dead plaza. We went for breakfast on a Saturday morning, and we were hoping for a little bit of a bigger selection. We ended up opting for the cinnamon rolls, and my wife got some coffee. Overall, it was a cute little bakery, but it would have been nicer to have more things to choose from for breakfast than just the cinnamon rolls. Also, address is not correct here on Yelp. My husband and I went there yesterday. What a wonderful lunch we had. Crab quiche for both of us. It was loaded with crabmeat and delicious !! Came with a little fruit salad that was fresh and yummy ! Then for dessert I had one of her Red Velvet cupcakes !! It was a delite !
