It was me, my husband, and 1 year old. There was little to no wait because it wasn't very busy for Friday night. After we sat down it took at least 8 minutes for someone to greet us at the table. We ordered a bar drink, appetizer trio with the tenders tossed in honey hot sauce, blue cheese for dipping and extra chips, and a chicken sandwich with a loaded baked potato no bacon. She assumed i wanted my margarita frozen but i drink always order it on the rocks. All of the food came out together but we wanted the appetizer first... The tenders were tossed in a Buffalo sauce with ranch for ranch dipping. The baked potato had bacon. And we didn't get nor ended up needing extra chips. She never gave us a receipt but told us our total which i thought that was weird because i like to check to make sure i wasn't charged for anything i didn't want (like a dollar for that bacon) cheddar's is cheap so we weren't worried about it but i do think she as the server should make sure the food is right before taking it to the table. (I've served for 5 years it's basic training to check) her excuse was that there was only one cook in the kitchen but you can noticeably tell our order was wrong and couldn't throw the kitchen under the bus. The manager working tonight (11/10/23) at cheddars was awful. Soooo many mistakes made, very little apologies or sympathy. Zero discounts offered or food taken off the receipt. It was a new waiter, so I don't fault him as much. He was super apologetic. I told him his manager was an asshole and he should probably try to work somewhere else. The best (worst) part was when they took 10 minutes to bring me my side of BBQ sauce for my ribs. When they brought it out it was ice cold sauce. Who puts cold sauce on their now lukewarm warm at best food?! When I told the manager, he said "oh that is how we always do it..." I called BS to him. I finally got some warm sauce to put on my now cold ribs. Awful experience. Could have been salvaged (a bit) if he offered to remove at least one meal from the receipt, and offered an apology. Really good food! The Monte Cristo is amazing. The kids all have their favorites from chicken tenders to Nachos. Great atmosphere, usually friendly staff. The new ones are not always familiar with what a lettuce wrap is. Definitely recommend eating here. read more

It's basically just a cheaper version of Denny's. Pros: We got seated immediately. Our waiter was very nice. Food is very inexpensive. Quality of the food......it's decent. Not great, not horrible. Just OK. Cons: It's so cold in the building you could literally bring in a water bottle and leave with it being frozen. Like so many people have mentioned - it's pretty dirty. Our book menu (appetizer, drinks, desserts) clearly has never been cleaned since the restaurant opened. Pages were stuck together. It didn't even have the dessert pages in it. And a big F to the hostess. I was there with my sister and her TWO CHILDREN. The hostess sat us in between two full booths of 21-25ish year olds who were drinking and swearing like they'd just left the bar at closing. So two women with young children and you put them in the party section? Also a big thumbs down to people who swear in public places when there are children around. Ridiculous. read more

Cheddar's has always been a Friday evening go-to place but the last few times have yielded more disappointments than positives. On the way in, the landscaping is dead or dying with broken planters spilling dirt on the cracked rock surround with no care evident. It's a tinderbox so please don't discard lit cigarettes into the dead flora. Further on, one front door was not operational with the entryway walls and floors worn and dirty. Everything beyond needs a good cleaning so just keep an eye on the ceiling; it all looks so...tired. Staff seemed highly unmotivated, generally "meh..." but it could be we interrupted whatever they were doing. Server was a far cry from what we were used to but maybe it's us; or maybe the old surroundings are just depressing for the staff, too. Food was fresh and good as it should be but the pricing has eclipsed the portion size tremendously. Before you leave, don't forget to wash your hands, that is, if there's any soap in the men's room. Plenty of used towels on the floor, too, so that's an indication there were some in the dispenser earlier. And watch your step; the floor back there is slippery from...kitchen grease? Not gonna think about it. Anyway, bye, Cheddar's! We'll probably give you one more shot. We'll clean up, look nice and be pleasant when we come but hope you'll do the same, OK? read more

A medium steak. Sent the food back to the kitchen. Gave us the same plate with now cold mashed potatoes still on it and the dirty plate. Waitress was walking around with an airpod in. Had to have other staff help us get our salads and a pen to even sign the check. Yes we were patient and tried to get her attention. But after 15 mins of waiting to catch her eye for anything, we had to get help from another waiter. Everyone BUT her seemed to be doing their job correctly. It's not her fault with the kitchen mess up, but we had to wait forever to get her attention. Will NEVER be doing that again. Would rather go to chilis 1000%. Ordered takeout coming from across town. My order was a Country Fried Steak with country gravy. Ordered extra country gravy as well as the sides Mashed potatoes with brown gravy and brocoli cheddar caserole. When I got home with my order and my wifes I was shocked not only did we not get the extra gravy we ordered but they also didnt put gravy on the steak or the mashed potatoes. Everything was sans gravy except the one item that wasnt supposed to have it. I was so thrown by this weirdness that I told my wife to call and complain as I went to Heitmillers and purchased gravy for my getting colder by the minute food. Got home and the wife said the manager was pretty shocked at the weirdness of the screw up. He sent her out compensation that was much more than expected. Which was nice but a bad experience always leave me hesitant to even go back. Tonight we are trying again so we shall see. Fingers crossed for them. read more

Negative: The place was gross- Tables not wiped down (food particles still on them), weird white stuff going up the wall, some kind of liquid splattered and dried on the wall, soapy scum residue on the table near the wall, floors had lots of food and trash on them. Well, went in for lunch with a friend and my son. Service took fooorrrrevvverrr, which is understandable if they're understaffed. But, when I finally got my grilled chicken salad and there was a bug crawling around on it. Let the waitress know, somehow magically, they brought me a grilled chicken salad immediately...even though the first one took 30-40 mins to come out. Honestly, wouldn't doubt that they just stirred mine around and brought it back out with the bug in it. So go to pay, they didn't even have to decency to take it off of my bill, mind you, I'm not a complainer about that stuff, but come on! They didn't try to make anything right. Food was delicious! The 2 Servers did a good job serving our party of 30. They were courteous & polite. only 1 order didn't get prepared & was delayed, was told she would be discounted but was not. Blonde hostess might take a reminder course in courteousness. We called a week ahead of time (on 1.23.23/3:42p) to make the aware we were coming & would be ahead of their big Sunday rush (intentional to make things easy as possible, have extra cooks, servers etc. whatever they needed to be prepared). Man on phone requested we be there when opened which we were. Front of the line when doors opened. Everyone behind us was seated first then we were addressed. We were told they didn't have servers to take care of section we knew we would be in because of size (though other people were seated in this section) & they needed to set up. Hostess was complained to servers & bus people as they helped, being very verbal. As we were seated she attempted to put me in my place about waiting & I reminded her I had done everything I could in advance to help them be prepared for us & the job for them easier & she at least stopped. 31 dinners + drinks & appetizers I would have thought would be considered a welcomed end of day ticket total. Came here yesterday to have lunch , we were seated and our server Fernando G came to take our drink order. Then he came back and took our food order. He never brought us the complementary croissants I had to ask him. He also never came to check on us for refills or anything and kept saying he forgot. Seemed like he was lost and he kept walking by us not once saying anything to us. He never brought us plates for the appetizer.We have never had this kind of service before usually it's really good and I am severely disappointed. We came on a Saturday night and we got seated surprisingly quickly. We had David as our server and he was great. Always made sure we had everything we needed, refilled our drinks when we needed and had great suggestions. I had the sweet chicken and shrimp which I thought was awesome. Perfectly grilled and juicy with good seasoning. We ended the evening with their monster cookie dessert which was a perfect ending of the meal. It was definitely large enough to share for 3 people. Got tired of waiting for someone to wait on us, while some of the wait staff stood around talking with each other. Y'all, I'm not even going to lie my wife and I come here on the regular. It has never disappointed us at all. All of the wait staff is always super friendly and they give you their attention they keep up with refills. Their food is never disappointing, from their salads to their steaks it's all pretty delicious. Occasionally I'll order an alcoholic drink and it's always perfect as well they do get pretty busy and sometimes it's can be quit loud but it's worth the wait and the time. I'm normally not a big fan of the Cheddars/Applebee's/Chili's type food places and tonight was no exception. In Waco Texas on a Friday night, Cheddars is the place to eat. Idk why but it just is. The place is always packed on the weekends as if Cheddars is some exclusive amazing restraint that you have to wait several months to get a reservation. But alas, the food is average... Not amazing but not bad. I think it's better than Chili's and Applebee's for sure. For the price you're getting a decent meal and a nice casual family friendly environment with good drinks so I still gave this Cheddars a few stars. Our waiter was very good and I don't have any complaints about my food. Do I recommend this restaurant? In Waco? Yes. The broccoli and rice casserole is perfection and the croissants are amazing. Today we had a server named Jean, she was very sweet, observant, and asked if we needed something every time she passed by our table.

We went there on a very busy Sunday afternoon. The staff was still super professional and to our surprise, as we were waiting for our food, we had a manager, maybe assistant manager, come to our table and apologize for the wait. She then offered us an appetizer while we waited. She followed that up by saying our food wouldn't be much longer. She wasn't kidding! She brought the appetizer and the food came within a couple of minutes afterwards! All fresh and hot! Thank you, Cheddars for a great experience! Most places get an attitude when they get they busy and tend to treat customers like they owe them something for being in their establishment. I highly recommend this Cheddar's! read more

This was on Easter Sunday and although the restaurant was busy, we were approached by our waiter within a minute or two of being seated. When the server finally checked on us she apologized and offered to trade it but said we would still pay full price. We asked for the manager and thankfully she did right by us. We brought my grandfather back here for Father's Day. I think we waited maybe 3 minutes for a table and they quickly seated us at a large booth that was easy for him to sit at. Again, we had an order of Fried Shrimp, two orders of Shimp & Ribs and my grandfather's 1/2 Rack of Ribs. Our family decided to give Cheddar's another try last Sunday. The wait was over 45 minutes on a slow Sunday... my gosh, we could see empty tables! They may have had staffing problems, but we were not told or even told 'sorry' for the wait. To be honest, the wait time probably slanted my opinion of the food. The onion rings were good, my burger was not cooked the way I asked and was seriously tasteless! I was expecting a lot more flavor from the Smokehouse burger. They even forgot the BBQ sauce! Please! My daughter's grilled chicken was over done and dry. The vegetables and my husband's nachos were good. The tea and soda prices were not printed on the menu. We were surprised they were each over $2 each! What a scam...that's how to keep the menu prices a bit lower and still make big bucks! The waiter was nice and got the food to us in a reasonable time. Visited this location on a Saturday evening, wait time was minimal. When I was seated at a table, I informed my server, Medina, that I was waiting for a friend to join me. He brought me a glass of water and continued to check back while I was waiting for the friend to arrive. Once my friend arrived, Medina promptly came and took our drink order and then gave us time to look over the menu..I've been to several different Cheddar's locations and although I've never actually had bad service, this was by far the best dining experience I've had with them.
