My boyfriend and I came in on Monday. I read the reviews of this location and was kind of skeptical, but we were craving cheddars so we decided to give it a try. Usually when waiters see a couple of kids they just shift us to the side, at least for us they do.. but our waiter was Rick and he was great! He checked up on us and made sure we were doing well. The food was amazing, came out pretty fast in my opinion. We had the chips and queso for appetizer, I had the Maple bacon chicken sandwich And my boyfriend had the Dijon chicken and mushrooms which we both loved the meals. We will be back! read more

Worst service I have ever had. I came here with my family. There were 7 of us total. The server greeted us with "Are you ready?" which is not the warmest welcome to start with. Our orders were simple, no modifications. My moms food came out 15 minutes before everyone else's. Then my grandmas food came out 10 minutes after everyone else's. The server forgot the dipping sauces that came with each meal. When we talked to the manager to tell him that the food came out at different times and we could not eat together he said he would "have a talk with her". Great, that makes things awkward now. From then on she had a horrible attitude. She spilt my grandmas food all over the table. Also she forgot my moms wine and my water so I had nothing to drink the whole time. She avoided us and was short and rude. When she dropped the checks she said yelled "Sorry!" and walked away. Being in the service industry, I understand the things happen and it is sometimes out of your control. But to have a bad attitude..that is NEVER the solution. We've enjoyed eating at Cheddars in Missouri when visiting family, so we've been looking forward to trying our fairly new, local Cheddars for some time now, but wanted to wait until the staff were broken in and the kinks were worked out. We weren't disappointed. The interior is very nice and they were quite busy given it was mid-afternoon on a Friday. The food was very good and the portion sizes generous -- in other words, a very good value. More on that later. Service was attentive and better than average for a family restaurant. I tend to drink a lot of water and our server brought me a fresh glass (with a lemon slice) each time my glass was nearly empty. However, he never took the empty glasses away, so our table had a collection of 5 glasses for the two of us by the time we were done with our meal. In fact, I found it odd that dishes weren't cleared until we got up to leave, so the table was littered with dishes from appetizer, salad and entrees, as well as the aforementioned water glasses. This is my one criticism. The food was also quite good. Texans be warned that the salsa served with the chips is more sweet than spicy, but made for an interesting chance of pace. My chicken pot pie was delicious - creamy & hearty - and the chicken was amazingly tender. As mentioned, the food was a very good value. Total cost for two entrees (we had a coupon for our app and a house salad is included with the pot pie) came to only $16! And we couldn't eat it all so we even have leftovers to snack on later! Went on a Friday night and they were very busy, but that didn't prevent them from providing great service. To start with, we ordered the southwest spinach dip which was very tasty. Then, for our entrees, we ordered the country fried chicken, with green beans, and mashed potatoes and the cheddar club sandwich with a side of broccoli cheese casserole. My wife and I decided to give them a shot tonight even after reading the mixed reviews. We were able to get seated relatively quickly around 6:30pm on a Friday night but they did start getting busy by the time we left. I would guess the wait was about 15 min by the time we left. The table we were given was clean and we had no issues with cleanliness or dirty silverware as others have experienced. It was clean and comfortable. The server was where we ran into the opportunity. Our server was Kurt. He was polite and did not do anything wrong directly. You could however clearly tell he is not a seasoned server and was struggling to keep up with his tables. When you asked for something he would listen and leave to get it. However, if he was interrupted on the way he was side tracked easily and needed another reminder. This happen several times during our meal and Kurt would apologize and correct it right away. I think Kurt needs to continue to focus on his ability to multi-task and juggle multiple requests. Overall he did an OK job and if he worked on this issue he would be much better. The food itself was actually really good. My wife had the vegetable dinner. She said the meal was seasoned and cooked very well. I had the Monte Cristo with fries and all were cooked perfectly. The outside was nice and crispy and the inside nice and soft with the melted cheese just right. The two star deduction was in part for Kurt and having to request things multiple times. The other reason was the girl at the desk who seated us. She took my wife and to a small table in the corner against the wall that barely seated two people and a little table for plates barely. I asked if she could get a table or booth was a little bigger. I am a big guy over 6' and like a little room. I has also planned to order several appetizers to taste and write about so we needed more room. I was very rudely told by this young lady she has this table for a small booth the same size. I stated I would prefer a regular booth or table. She then stated "Since there is only 2 of you these are the only tables we have for you!" So basically she told me I can't have a larger table for two people. However, when I looked around the room I saw several booths with just two people in them. So clearly this is not the case and was very aggravated she would behave this way. We took the small table and did not order any appetizers we planned. This young girls decision to behave this way cost the restaurant at least an EXTRA $50 which in the grand scheme of things means nothing to them. So instead of a $75 ticket they got a $24 ticket. Which I find interesting we would have spent as much as a 3 or 4 person table anyway. Overall you can tell they are still struggling to get it right in this new location. I would hope they would have been in better shape after being open this long. They have the monopoly in this location at the moment. However, as new places open up coming in 2016 they will quickly go out of business if they don't take this feedback Yelpers are given them and correct it. Good Luck Cheddars hope you can pull it off. I came the other night around 9pm. It was PACKED. I understand how stressful it must be on the servers, but honestly the wait for food is crazy. I was excited about Cheddar's opening in my neighborhood as the Garland location is a bit of a drive. Hubs and I visited before dinner service we sat in a booth in the bar area. Initially our service started out good and went down hill from point we placed our drink order. Ordered an appetizer which we never received until our meal came, no thank you we do not want the appetizer now. Sucked ice cubes to quench our thirst and the food I was not impressed with. I have been coming here since they opened their doors. The manager Kedrian(forgive me I spelled it wrong) is the best! At one point in time the bartender use to know me by name and would know my order for me and my children. Unfortunately she is no longer there, but I continue to go because the manager goal to make sure you feel values, his energy and professionalism is something very rare these days. Never go to Cheddars on a Friday night. Worst service and half the food that came out was cold. We had a party of 8 and 1 dish was forgotten and didn't come out until everyone else was 1/2 way through there food. 3 of the other dishes were cold and 2 were at room temperature. The service was slow. Appetizers had to be asked for twice and didn't come out together, bar drinks had to be asked for twice and condiments were never brought out with some foods. The manager had to be asked for 3 times and the first manager did nothing but say he would take care of things but followed through with nothing being done. Excuses were made about the kitchen but it wasn't just the kitchens. The only positive was time with friends and the restaurant was clean. Will never ever go back on a Friday night and probably not a Saturday night either. Don't waste your time at Cheddars. This is a newer restaurant, so I had higher hopes. Met for a business lunch, and was limited in options due to me being celiac. I had researched earlier online for gluten-free options and had the grilled chicken and pecan salad. After asking at the time of order to ensure it was GF, I was assured it was. Order came out with no pecans and a huge buttered roll on the salad. I know this isn't a big deal for most, but as a celiac it really can be very harmful. I asked the waitress to remake the salad so that I wouldn't have to deal with contaminated salad, and it came back 60 seconds later, minus the buttered roll. Again, for most this isn't an issue, but the crumbs on the salad aren't a laughing matter for me. I also had no pecans which was one of the highlights and no explanation provided. If you have to substitute, please explain before the order so I have a chance to change my mind to something with flavor. I won't be going back if I can avoid it. read more

Enjoyable comfortable visit. I've been a fan of Cheddars since moving to Texas and I've never been disappointed. Waited less than 15 min for a table, greeted with a warm smile on a Saturday at 5 pm. Service was spot on, greeted by our server (forgot her name) and asked for drink orders. Ordered the Wisconsin Cheese Bites for an appetizer which were deep fried golden brown and had a cheesy mild sauce in the middle. My quarter chicken and baby back rib combo had a good smoky flavor, plenty of french fries deep fried golden yellow and not greasy. Ribs fell off the bone. I wish I had the option for BBQ sauce. (I didn't ask). The place smelled and looked new. The owners kept the feel of the old Cheddars locations by having the brick accents around the posts and some of the walls. Many of the decorative accents made the place look more sophisticated. I guess I should call it Cheddars Scratch Kitchen instead of just Cheddars, but at least I could still recognize the good service and food that I expect. read more

I had a great experience at the new Cheddar's location. I sat at the bar and the staff was very attentive, friendly and helpful. My food came out quickly and was delicious, chicken pot pie - yum! Their honey butter croissants are where it's at. We had to get an extra order of them because one per person is just not enough. I'll be back soon - sitting at the bar watching all those amazing drinks going out made me thirsty! In addition to my own experience being top notch I was really impressed by the actions of one of the bartenders while I was there. He was making a beverage for someone in the dining room - the order-er did not want the standard sweet and sour mix to be used, but they ordered a drink that required some kind of sweet and sour so he hand squeezed lemons and limes (per their request) and added some sugar and maybe honey - I can't remember all the ingredients, but I was listening as he was explaining it to the trainee (maybe?) shadowing him. I can see how this would be a huge pain, but without knowing that I was paying attention and knowing the actual client was on the other side of the restaurant he did not show any annoyance what so ever at having to go above and beyond for such a picky guest. Horrible manager! We have dinner at this place tonight and order chicken tenders with french fries for my son. When the waiter bring the food, they put one more french fires, since it is a big group of people(14 of us), we just told the waiter put it on the table, we will take care about it. When we ready to check out, we realized the restaurant charged us one more order of french fries, so we politely told the waiter about the overcharge ($3). Very strange is the attitude of manager, he argue with us since we have the extra fries, we need to pay it even we did not order it. For $3 dollars to make customer angry, it is so disappointed. Several months later we decided to stop. I had not been to a Cheddars in 10 years. We went on a week night and there was a very nice crowd. The decor is nice and cozy. Our waitress was attentive and pleasant. I ordered the New Orleans Pasta and hubby ordered Ribeye steak with baked potato and green beans. We also ordered the croissants with honey on the side. Our dinner was served in about 20 minutes, so we ate the croissants while waiting. They were okay. I know everyone raves about them, but they were kind of dry and cold. I mean, I've had better croissants at LaMadeleine's. The pasta dish was huge. I had been eating for about 15 minutes and it did not look like I had made a dent in the pasta. It had a good amount of meat and good flavor. I tasted my husband's green beans and I wasn't too impressed. Overall, it was standard chain restaurant meal.
