Cheddar's... I am a bit conflicted with this restaurant. The food is decent, I don't mind going back. Most of the dishes are dishes you can find at other chain restaurants such as Chili's or Applebee's and the like. Overall the food has a freezer food type quality. It isn't the best dinner you'll have but it'll be a good one and one at a great price. The food doesn't taste old but it doesn't wow one's palette nor is it an experience. It is a chain, what can you expect? The atmosphere is alright and the architecture and styling is very pretty. The restaurant is very clean and the waitstaff are always very pleasant. For a cheap dinner to get out the house, I would recommend this place. I, however, would not recommend this place for an authentic from scratch meal. I absolutely LOVE this place! The food is beyond excellent and the prices are reasonable. The reason I gave 3 stars is because I asked the waitress how are the cocktail drinks made and how is the alcohol measured. She informed me a large batch is premade the drinks are ordered often. This is a problem! If I'm paying $7 for an alcoholic drink, I should at least taste the alcohol! MY drink is suppose to enclose a specific amount of alcohol to not only label it as an alcoholic drink, but be my money's worth. I felt like I was drink fruit punch. That's it! Nearly $14 for 2 glasses of fruit punch is what I had last night because they serve premade drinks which does NOT distribute an equal amount of alcohol in each glass. One thing though when my girlfriend ordered the tortilla soup she found a chicken bone. Good thing she was careful and discovered this in her soup before things got bad at a Sunday lunch. We just walked out. They have some serious management/administration issues in this place. Our table was in a blast under an AC vent and we were really uncomfortable. There were other tables available, three of the same size in the small room we were in and they refused to move us with no valid reason given. Fool me twice, shame on me. This is my second visit, maybe a year after the first, and it's my own fault for going back. The first visit the food was too salty. This visit it was bland. I ordered a ribeye cooked medium. The temperature was wrong and it didn't have any flavor. Now granted I wasn't expecting steakhouse quality but this tasted like rubbery nothingness. I doused it in A1 out of desperation and still it wasn't good. Anyone who enjoys steak knows that a good steak doesn't need bottled sauce. The sides, also bland. My kid liked her burger and fries but she also would've been happy at McDonald's. The service was good and so was the spinach dip, but that's it. Waste of money, calories and time. We have been familiar with Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen in our previous city we lived in, so when we came to Slidell, we knew we had to give it a try. We came in and was immediately immersed with hospitality and kindness from the hostess and the even the customers! We came in and sat in our booth and ordered our usual onion rings! We ordered them and after about 10 minutes, the manager came to our table and informed us that the onion rings got burned on their first batch, so he felt so bad about us waiting for our appetizer that he gave it to us for FREE! We waited for 10 minutes! It just showed us how important the management and leadership of this restaurant values its customers and guests. We will definitely be back. I had hair in mayonnaise that I had to ask for 3 times, my daughter's burger was cold when it finally came. My order was wrong and waiter blamed kitchen staff. Food I ordered was salty and greasy, the waiter said it would be good. I had french fries in my green beans. Waiter charged me for a kids drink that goes with order. Chile, the two stars are for the staff. They were wonderful! Very friendly and eager to provide service. However, the food I hated it. I really wanted to like it! But, I think maybe I ordered the wrong thing. I had the spinach dip. I was starving, so baby, i wasn't thinking about taking a pic! It looked great, but i was catfished. Bland. Just tasted like nothing. ‍ But, the chips were fresh and the salsa was okay. Oh and the strawberry lemonade tasted watered down and not sweet in the slightest. I've been here a few times and this was the worst it has been. I was with 2 others this time. It wasn't busy when we were there and it took too much time for us to receive our orders. We got a chips and queso appetizer that took about 15 minutes to get, along with bar drinks that took another 10. When the drinks did arrive my sister-in-law's watermelon margarita tasted more like dirty dishwasher. My Texas Sweet Tea was sub-par, but passable. I got the blackened red fish sandwich that was anything but blackened and had little flavor other than fish. I got fries with my meal that were not included when my entree was brought to me, but were eventually brought with extra fries. Those with me got steaks that were very good. Our waitress was very nice and apologized for the waits and forgotten fries. That and the steaks saved this from a 1 star review. read more

Not sure what to say about our experience this evening. We've been here before on the second night it was open and all was ok,I realized I wasn't a fan of their burgers, but service and atmosphere were great. Tonight on the other hand was the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant. My girlfriend has been asking to go back since the first time we ate there and tonight,, her birthday, I thought was the perfect night to go. Parking lot was full when we pulled up around 9PM so we were pretty sure there was a wait, and there was but didn't take 5-10 minutes, no biggie. We sat down and knew what we wanted to drink and order when our waiter came to the table. 20 minutes later I'm realizing I probably should've asked for some water since our mixed drinks were taking so long to come, finally made eye contact with waiter and asked for water, all good again once water arrived. Drinks came to our table around 9:40. About 10PM we really began to wonder where our food was and the waiter came by and informed us our food was next and ready to be picked up. At this time, my girlfriend is getting a little agitated, I head to the restroom to wash off sticky condensed milk from mix drink and I inadvertently was following behind our waiter who was taking on cell phone and just as soon as he went in with phone to ear he walked right out with phone to ear, no bathroom or washing hands, just a phone break??? I head to the table and my girlfriend is explaining to the hostess who had asked her how the evening was going that her experience was not good. The hostess walked away to let the manager be aware and I told my gf our waiter was in the bathroom talking on phone at which point the manager arrives at our table and we're ready to pay for our drinks and leave for Caretta´s,, but the manager offers apologies, goes to kitchen and grabs our food from kitchen, informs us they had to re-fry fish because it had sat so long, etc. We were out of the aggregated and about to leave state at this point until we realize tarter sauce and ranch dressing were missing. Manager arrives back with ranch and offers meal comp and more drinks and I ask him for just a refill on my water after I had drank all of mine and my girlfriend's waters that were requested almost an hour ago at this point as well as my girlfriend's missing tartar sauce that was supposed to come on her plate. Needless to say, we never saw another person again and ate about half our cold dishes and tracked down a server and requested a box since we have tartar sauce and water at the house to go with fish. I was upset beyond belief. I couldn't understand how a new restaurant in our town could fail on so many levels, especially since this is where my gf wanted to eat for her birthday, thank goodness we did a five star restaurant the night before (Bogarts, Hollywood casino, BSL, MS). I've never been offered a free meal because of inefficiencies at a restaurant and was really upset because I prefer to pay for all things I do in life, especially the luxury of dining out. I'm not going to call out server or manager names. Shoe fits, shoe fits, you know who you are and I can only hope that you both strive and demand better from yourselves. I've worked BOH & FOH as a kid in junior and high school and working in a restaurant isn't easy, but it's the job I had at the time and I was the best at every position I worked at. My recommendations are when it's slow time or break time that's when you can have you time or take care of your personal business time such as making phone calls. As for the manager, when you say you're going to do something, do it. Even if it is a ramiken of tarter sauce and a glass of water. Can't say we have any reason to return to this particular Cheddars, not sure what other Cheddars are like. There's too many restaurants (local and corporate) competing in service and food for our money and this place isn't one of them, at least not in the near future. We appreciate you guys picking up the meal and drinks, but what we were hoping for was a nice meal, good memories, good service and we have no problem paying for this experience. The place is constantly packed. Why? Because the food is excellent and puts other local chain restaurants to shame. Did I also mention the value for your money is outstanding. It's just OK. I have avoided this place because it's a chain, but went with my son and grandson. We had nachos as an appetizer. They were pretty good but light on the cheese. I had the steak and ribs plate. The steak was small and thin and served on a bed of onion strings. The steak was good, but nothing I couldn't get elsewhere. The ribs had good taste and I liked the BBQ sauce taste very much, but they were very dry and I am pretty sure the smoke taste came from liquid smoke rather than actual smoking (or so it tasted). I had the mango tea which was very good. The server was acceptable, not great but certainly not bad. I would not seek to go back as you can get everything they have there better somewhere else. read more

Never Skips a BEAT! One of my family's favorite spots. The service is always friendly, The food comes out in a fairly reasonable time, and is delicious. This time I had the Smokehouse Burger. A group of 6 of us drove all the way from New Orleans for our first visit. We were seated immediately but waited forever for a waitress. After ordering appetizer and entrees, the appetizer came out incorrect. Then we are told our waitress bailed out on our table because she was sick. So we have to reorder everything all over again. 5 mins later we see our original waitress serving tables in the section next to us. I'm still in the restaurant as I type this. Just had the worse experience. This is my third time at this restaurant and likely my last. 1st visit was good, second was eh..this visit was downright awful. Little to do with the food itself.. Everything to do with the service. We received drinks that had an aftertaste of dish liquid or some sort of chemical. I very politely asked if we could have another drink and from that point we were stamped with a "Scarlett letter". I'm not Sure if I offended the waiter by asking for a different drink but from that point it seemed we were no longer worthy of good service. The second set of drinks which included plain water had the same aftertaste.. The waiters response was Nothing's wrong with anyone else's drink. Really Mr. Waiter, so I guess I'm lying? I didn't get nasty or anything but advised him we would not have any drinks this round and proceeded with ordering. A salad and a steak. The steak came and the 2nd waiter asked, did I still want the salad!!! Hmm, I guess not since my food is here. I advised him not to worry about the salad with a smile. 5 minutes later Mr. Drink special brings a salad. I politely declined, asked for a to go box and a manager because at this point I just want to leave. The manager comes by, And gives me a look like I've disturbed her from doing something more important. She said ok I'll look into it and take the salad and the drink off and walked off! Honestly, thats all I wanted but that was a given. Her attitude was just as nonchalant and un-moved as the waiter! Let me add that I very rarely ask for managers. When I receive poor service, my dissatisfaction reflects in the tip. I am a true foodie who eats out a lot, from 5 star experiences to budget dinner stops like Cheddars! I typically set my expectation based on the price point of the restaurant. Needless to say, I did't have high expectations of this place but I do expect basic Customer Service where ever I go and Cheddars's just fell far short of the basic bar. I would recommend if you're in this area, definitely try the other eateries. I regretfully didn't. He re did the bill and then told me the waiter offered to remake my food and I declined. Complete lie. He would not take responsibility for anything and didn't make anything right. Sure, it's a chain... but it's a good one! It is still fairly new and Cheddar's isn't too common around here, so it almost doesn't feel like one to me. This is the only Cheddar's that I have been to. My mom and grandma love this place and drive here from Metairie often to eat and shop at the new outside mall. The prices are nice! There are many options on the menu that are below 10 dollars. Their alcoholic beverages are also pretty cheap. I haven't had one, so I'm not sure how worth their value they are. My mom and grandma love to order the croissants which come 3 to an order. I tried one the other day when we went, and they really are delicious. I ordered the sweet heat chicken and shrimp off of the "light menu" (I personally love when restaurants have one of these). The chicken was cooked properly (not rubbery - like some establishments) and the portion size was perfect. The sauce was yummy and made the rice taste good too. The side salad that it came with was also surprisingly tasty. Service was fine. No complaints here! read more

First trip-We were placed in the very back against the fire exit door across from the bar in the second room. The first room was full. So you would expect for US to get bad service. But nope. Our waitress was very nice. And was expecting a child. We got our waters before we could start looking at the menu, and then when we ordered appetizers they came way before the meal (like they are supposed to!) then my cousin got her salad about 5 min after the appetizer. Mediocre food when we went for lunch. Waited more than 5 minutes after we were seated to get drinks (mind you at 1:00 in the afternoon it was not busy). There was a piece of small glass in my water which I gave to the server. Manager didn't even acknowledge this and I wasn't even offered a different water. I drank from my kid's Sprite that my son shared with me. We were asked if we wanted a refill on chips which we said yes but never got.
