My wife and I come here every now and then after church, we have always liked that they open up at 10:30. Not sure of the time anymore, we went today, the sign on the door still says they open at 10:30 but they were closed, checked their web site and it stated 11:00. But as we were pulling out someone was unlocking the doors, which one is it 10:30 like your sign says or 11:00 like your web site says, which we all know not everything on the internet is true. read more

First time here. Found the place to be nicer than I expected. I had the grilled salmon which was very good and bery affordable. The wifey had the pot pie which she really enjoyed. We also had the triple appetizer. The potatoe skins and chicken were really good but the cheese bites were salty. Loved my Texas tea. Came to celebrate a friends birthday. Went over the expected wait time which was understandable since there was 15 of us. No problem... we get sat and our server started out great and obviously began getting annoyed with us. We asked for them to sing for his birthday and they literally came in and didn't ask for his name and cut us all off and started singing. No dessert or anything. I had to ask if he got any complimentary dessert and the server said no but he can have some cookies if he wants. So rude. Will probably never come back here. Our table was full of servers and would have easily made a $100 off our table if he would've just been somewhat nice... 2 stars is for the good food/drinks and the server starting out well... read more

My sister raves about this place, so today we came in for late lunch after a quick trip to the outlet mall. If you are an onion ring fan, you must have them here! They come with two dipping sauces: a spicy horseradish sauce and a fabulous homemade ranch. My sister said they could use some salt in the batter, but I disagree. I thought they were perfect! I ordered a salad for my entree. I chose the greens with pears and added chicken. It was good and an ample portion. I especially loved the toasted almonds. I tasted my daughters chicken fried steak. It was yummy, but the broccoli was so overcooked she wouldn't eat it...neither would I! We will definitely return for the nice atmosphere, good service and great prices! read more

I use to work at this location several years ago as a bartender . Although at times it was not a happy place to be at it was clean and the service was fair. Isidro was and still is a great manager; however who ever he has running his bar is not up to par. Since going back to visit it has been a horrendous experience both times. Both times the service if one wants to call it that was spotty. Waiting to be acknowledged, bar top filthy, bartenders that don't know how to free pour. Wasn't a thing when I was there. Waiting 20 minutes to take our food order and I watched the drink my girlfriend order be made incorrectly. No follow up asking if the drinks were okay or if we wanted another. Food was lukewarm to say the least after the bartender looked at us and didn't bother checking on our food until about 30 minutes later. It was a slow day and the second bartender was trying to do his cut work to leave early. He did not offer any service and had no intentions of wanting to help out his fellow coworker. Not only that but I watched as he touched dirty dishes In the bar and not wash his hands but run water over them. There are so many health issues with what transpired behind that bar. I will not being returning to this establishment, and I know it won't hurt their business but I'd hope that something changes there. read more

Went to eat with you dad. My waitress was nice and patient with us, but our food took FOREVER!! Even though it was taking a long time, out waitress checked on us. Then my dads food come out, it wasn't hot. For our food to take so long it should of had steak coming from it and it didn't. A couple minutes later mine came out, it was fresh. When we were done eating, we were waiting for our waitress to pick up our card, it was busy so we understood it would be a minute. Then out of no where this lady comes and takes it, didn't introduce herself or anything!! I'm assuming it was a manager cause she had an ear piece but still. Had the grilled salmon dinner: Tasteful and overall good. Not fishy and cooked right. Also had the Monte Cristo sandwich. Equally good. Not to heavy and just right with the sauce. Chicken tortilla soup was spot on too. Hot, plenty of cheese and tomatoes. Black beans on the side hit the spot. Definitely a tasty option for dinner. I have been here a few times since it has opened for both lunch and dinner. Food is good and consistent. Prices are very reasonable for what you get and for the atmosphere you are in. Lunch time soups, salads and sandwiches are all good. For dinner, you can't go wrong with a burger and my favorite, the salmon. All of the sides that come with the entrees are great. The only thing I have had that I wasn't impressed with was the fish tacos. They really were not that good. Bar drinks were good and reasonably priced. My only dislike of the bar was the beer and wine list were very generic. They were lacking substance in this area. read more

I was visiting San Antonio and my Nephew to my wife and I to lunch at this location. Being from California, I was stunned at the reasonable prices of the meals, especially after observing the beautiful décor of the restaurant. When our meal came it was prepared beautifully and tasted great. Side note; you MUST try the onion rings. Best I have ever had. Our waitress could not have been friendlier or the service been better. This was a 5 star rating if I have ever ( and it's not too often ) seen one. I can hardly wait to go back when I return to San Antonio. read more

This was our First time here. We will definitely be back! The customer service is amazing! The menu has a wide variety for everyone. Kids menu also. The drinks that we saw other people order looked amazing too! The table next to ours ordered a "pain killer" that looked like it would definitely relieve any pain you had. :-) I told our server this was our first visit, so she brought me and my hubby complimentary croissants, that were to die for! She said they normally run out in 5 minutes after coming out of the oven. The manager also came by to drop off complimentary warm cookies while we were eating our meal with a "free appetizer" card for our next visit to thank us for coming in. Now that's customer service!! Overly unimpressed. I had never heard of this place, we show up it's busy I think maybe that means it's pretty good. We were told a 15 minute wait, we waited maybe an hour. We get seated, the menu looks yummy we order pretty quick and it took awhile to come. Finally, the food comes. YAY! But then I realize I got the right entree buuuut the wrong sides. No biggie it's busy right? So I get that fixed then I realize that my steak was extremely under cooked. So I asked them for it to be put in a little longer. Then I try my sides, the broccoli was MOOSH, like baby food moosh. About three minutes after it left, my steak comes back looking burnt on the outside and Very very raw on the inside (stuck in the microwave? I think so) my grandma was also with me, her food was better but it came about 15 minutes after me and my grandfathers. His was all good. I won't be returning, sorry cheddars. read more

Let me start off with this! It took over 45 minutes to be seated! Once seated, they sat us in an area that had a leak, therefore I had cold water dripping on me, my food and drinks. Our food took over 30 minutes to arrive only to not have silverware. We were brought silverware and hot water to wash our own utensils. 1st Constructive Criticism is if the baked potato is not hot enough to melt butter PLEASE DO NOT serve it. I liked my meatloaf entree the seasoning and texture was good. ALL the sides were cold to the touch specifically the mac&cheese and green beans. I believe my meatloaf heated my mashed potatoes by contact. Something is not right in the back of the house which translates to frustrations between the customer and server at the front of the house. I truly had higher expectations and this Cheddar's is not doing the BRAND any favors as of today. I'd like to think management and staff would like to perform better. The kitchen staff at the pass needs some tough love on timing for the meal to be hot when it hits the table and servers should demand it in their best interests. First time here and was almost impressed with the place until our country fried steak order came in. Burnt batter, steak hard to even cut with the steak knife. Had to return it to redo but the second one is salty. My family got same and they had to scrape the batter on the side. They tried hard to manage to eat it but not really good if you need a good meal. The only reason I have it 2 star is how fast the service is, and how the manager tried to recover the problem. I went to this Cheddars on Saturday, January 14 with four friends. I don't typically write reviews, but since I've been sharing this story with people for the past few days, I figured I should. Our waitress was awful. I think that she thought she was being friendly and earning tip points by being "honest" with us, but after years in food service myself, I can tell you that one thing I never want is for a restaurant employee to tell me that a) the bartenders can't be helped (they couldn't make an Old Fashioned?), and b) the cooks are terrible at their job. I could have figured these things out myself, after the 3 steaks ordered by our table came out cooked incorrectly, but to have a waitress laugh and openly tell our table about how bad the kitchen staff was before our food even arrived was appalling. She even took it upon herself to sit down in the booth with us while taking our order after complaining that she was tired. Yes, we were a happy bunch... yes, we were smiling and laughing at the things she was saying, but it was completely inappropriate for her to talk about her co-staff in that manner. She did take an appetizer off the bill to make up for the steaks, but considering that the person who told the waitress to put the appetizer on her bill didn't have a steak, it didn't help the situation. To top everything off, before we were done eating, she brought our check, and said "I'm not rushing you, but I do have to pick my parents up from the airport at __o-clock." We were a fast and easy (even fun) table, and the only important thing to us was that our friend get her birthday cookie/ice cream, but that was rushed. I am not an unreasonable person. I never complain in restaurants, never send food back, and almost never write reviews, but this was ridiculous. I did not mention the girl's name out of respect, but I did keep my receipt. Never go on a Sunday night. Or any night for that matter. We had a party of 12 and had the worst service. We got half of our food and the other half took forever to come out, and some didn't come how we ordered it. The manager had to get us refills after someone walked to the back asking for our waitress. When it came time for the checks it probably took 20 minutes to get them and then they weren't split up right. I understand a larger group is harder but with 2 waitresses it shouldn't be too terrible. And one did a much better job than the other, who never showed up unless asked for. We went a few weeks ago on a Sunday afternoon and had amazing service but every time we go at night it is absolutely horrible. read more

Love this place. We have always had a good experience, but today was icing on the cake. I was feeling really under the weather and had a long day. I was hungry and stopped by for a bite to eat. The staff was fantastic and the manager checked in to make sure everything was good to go. Not exactly the best dining experience I have had. Our group was 8 people; one child, one teen, 6 adults. First, we explained this to the hostess upon arrival and the teenage hostess seated us in a six person booth; a manager had to come over and help us get reseated as the teenage host staff couldnt figure this one out. Second, the place was so cold (vents right over our table when we were reseated), a couple of our party were near miserable throughout our meal. Third, the waiter was almost obnoxious with the number of times he came to our table and asked if we were ready to order....we truly were just taking our time, relaxing, and catching up on old times as our group (three families) had not seen each other in a long time. Last, the food was really nothing to rave about; standard Americana fast food. If you want a quick meal without service, this place is adequate. Our server was good. Staff was polite, but the dishes were dirty. It was gross. We had to ask for plastic silverware because all of the silverware on the table still had remnants of dried food on them. We told the manager and she claimed they were only water spots. My wife showed her that was not the case. The manager then took the silverware and told us she would have a conversation with her dishwashing staff. She never came back to our table to let us know if the issue had been resolved. I sincerely doubt it was. Even the plates we were given for our appetizers were dirty. I would not recommend this location solely for that reason. It's sad because I hadn't been hear in years and I remembered it to be a top notch establishment. I'm not going to bring my family back to this location. Cleanliness is very important to me and it should be to them. There are huge health concerns involved with matters like this. We went in very excited, seated immediately in the bar area. A table behind was sat maybe 5 minutes later which they were greeted right after. We waited. Finally our server came and took our drink order, then our food order. It became clear that she was working both the bar & a few booths. Our food took a few minutes far too long, my boyfriend spilt his water which was just left dripping off the table. We ordered our monster cookie, and it took literally 15 minutes. When it came out BURNT BLACK. Our server then asked us to "try it, maybe it doesn't taste burnt" and stood to watch.... which just made my boyfriend more upset. We asked for the check immediately since we had been there a total of 1 hr and 30 minutes by this point. That took another 8-10 minutes. All in all our meal tasted OK, cookie was trash, and technically so was the service. Our server was spread way too thin and could not handle the amount she was given. That was clear as day. What a terrible experience. My husband, daughter, and I decided to try something different today. It had been a long time since we had visited Cheddar's. Today's experience reminded me why. I ordered the Maui Margarita to drink and the spinach dip for an appetizer. I got the appetizers and still waited another 5 minutes for my drink. Our waiter was not very attentive so I'm not sure if it was him or the bar. My daughter had a kid burger & it came out fast but with cold fries. My husband had the chicken fried steak. I ordered the Buffalo Wrapper. It took 36 minutes for.our food to.come. I only know the exact time because of a phone call I got shortly before ordering. I ate the first of my chicken wrap, but in the middle, the chicken was cold.and uncooked. I freaked out & refused to pay for it. It took 10.minutes for the manager to.come by and take the uncooked food away & off our ticket. I never saw the waiter after the drink was delivered. We chose this place to celebrate my fathers birthday today. I was excited because I have always loved cheddars but not today. After we sat down, we waited about 15-20 for our drinks to be taken down and food order. It wasn't terrible. We ordered some appetizers to keep us at bay while we waited for our food since we saw it was busier than usual. Those actually didn't even show up until we were done with our actual meal. I had canceled one of them because there was no point in it anymore. The other one I let our waitress know that it had taken too long but she didn't seem to understand that we didn't want them anymore. Doesn't matter I still paid for it. Our food was good, and we were full. That wasn't the problem. Our waitress however, I'm not sure how to begin. As soon as she came to take our orders she seemed like she didn't even want to be there, we had to repeat a few times what we wanted. She seemed to not be paying attention. She barely came around to even refill our drinks and she actually did not even bring our food. Some other poor soul who seemed so tired came to deliver our food, and when we inquired about our waitress not bringing out our appetizers she did tell us that she would let her know. We kept eating and we only got refills twice since she was nowhere to be seen. On one of those times she actually spilled some of the drink on the table looked at it and ignored it. My father actually had to clean it himself because she just didn't care. Again still our appetizers still hadn't come even though we kept reminding her, her answer was "they're coming". I didn't bother trying to keep telling her. Now when I paid, I gave her 3 gift cards which she ran. When she brought me the bill she brought me multiple papers and claimed one of my gift cards had nothing in it which was impossible because I checked the balances myself before even choosing to go to cheddars. One of the receipts actually had the correct amount of what we would be paying, with the gift card amount correctly shown, but she insisted that there was nothing on it even though I had the correct receipt. I didn't want to make a scene or even get into it when it was busy with many people around as when we arrived another family was behind us arguing with the manager when we came in. It disrupts. I have tried calling as soon as I left, asking to speak with a manager and supervisor but unfortunately all they did was put me on hold and I waited 20 mins and still nothing. I wanted to try and contact them before writing this review but I was unable to. I had a very unpleasant experience to the point where the waitress clearly used my gift card but insisted there was "nothing in it" and I ended up paying more. I even paid for the appetizer and still tipped her. I lost out on my gift card money. I won't be returning to this location again. read more
