Another place near the Marriot. Found myself here on more than a few occasions around 5 PM. Figured I would have the bar to myself for a quite beer and entrée. Not a chance. Without fail, it was PACKED. Managed to get a seat and chat with the bartender for a bit. But after about 15 minutes every seat was taken and the bartender was running for his life. Food was what one might expect from a Fridays experience. Good but not great. Prices are fair for what you will be served so no complaints. For the area it may very well be one of the better places to eat. But in a more competitive market the food quality would need to improve. Given the volume and steady flow of people you may want to consider reservations. I had the Salmon entrée with bourbon glaze, mashed potatoes, and bean mix. This is the slowest Cheddar's I've ever been to. We ended up canceling our queso (QUESO, Y'ALL! ) 20 mins after ordering. The rest of the food took forever too and was just "meh." The beer was cold, margaritas were good, slow sever was nice though. read more

The "Sweet Tea" was no where near sweet, the rolls (croissants) were burnt. the appetizer I got were chips and queso, there was salsa all over the plate, like they had missed the bowl for the salsa and most of the chips were soggy. This was our first time going here and it was amazing. We had an awesome server named Julie. She was amazing. Our food was some of the best I have ever had. I don't know what sauce that was on the rice but both my son and I had it and loved it. My husband had the ribs and steak and loved them. My daughter, who normally does not eat all of her food when we go out, ate everything today. I had the ribs and shrimp and loved it. I try to eat at Cheddars when I travel because I know the food and service will be consistent. I ate at this location in the bar (plenty of booths & tables) because the restaurant was really packed, two nights in a row. Whomever is checking the plates of food before they leave the kitchen on Swing shift needs to be taken aside, trained, or retrained. First night, my macaroni & cheese serving was maybe 1/4 cup sized and it was missing my second side of green beans. Second night, My side salad honestly looked like it was thrown in the bowl (no garnish), mango salsa for tilapia was missing, and there was fried potato mixed in with my green beans. Both nights, the servers & bartender several times had to go back to the kitchen to get something fixed that was wrong or missing. Jay & Brandon (Servers) were incredible! Bartenders both nights (10/18 & 10/19) were awesome! They never stopped moving and everyone had a great time! TVs in the bar were tuned to sports and Presidential debate. The food quality was very good. Music was a great mix. The bar area bus person was constantly cleaning. The front door glass was cleaned every hour by the reception area greeters. Even with the kitchen plating final check issues, this is a very solid restaurant and a great value for your money! Do yourself a favor, though, and eat in the bar area! read more

We are in town for the week visiting from California (I was born and raised here in Owensboro) and my cousin introduced us to this place. We came here for lunch on Sunday and had the best burgers on Earth. Words cannot describe these burgers...just the Mmmmm sound you will make with every bite. We came back to Cheddar's for dinner last night and I will NEVER come to this place again. My husband and I ordered their sirloin (I know, that's not a real steak) and the chef here does not know how to cook steaks. My husband said his was okay but mine was way over cooked and the waitress argued with me repeatedly like she was offended, like she cooked it herself personally. She said the extra tough medium well she brought me was the medium I asked for because it had a slight hint of pink even though it was dry and very hard to cut and mostly well done and then she corrected me and said So you want a medium rare then not a medium because this is a medium, and then she brought a beautiful thick steak that was between rare and raw and then she kept cutting me off when I was talking both times. Finally I had to tell her to just cancel my food because she was so condescending I couldn't take it anymore, and she had the nerve to try and tell me that she couldn't cancel it. I told her I don't want any of this and yes you can cancel it because I didn't eat any of it and I'm not paying for it. She cancelled my plate, but then she brought the raw steak to me in a small To Go box but I left it there. And for the first time in his life, my husband left zero tip. It's too bad too because when we were here for lunch yesterday, everything was awesome and we all had the best burgers on Earth, perfectly tender and juicy. I was hooked on this place because of those burgers, but not anymore. Lunch again maybe someday, but never dinner here again. My advice to this place is to take steak off of your menu altogether because you don't know how to cook steaks and just stick to those ABSOLUTELY PERFECT BURGERS. Those burgers are your money makers and could be your claim to fame. I live in Los Angeles County (North Hollywood) and there is no burger there that can beat your burgers. People have divided opinions about the merits of the Cheddars business model but I and my family have always been very happy. There is delicious food with many options and huge helpings for under 10 dollars. Everything is good. The croissants are not free but everything is so cheap that that is ok.
