Terrible service at the restaurant. Nick and team missed the mark. Waited at our table for 20 minutes without being greeted, menus dropped off or drinks ordered. We had to find and interrupt a server to get someone to help us. When we mentioned our frustration, the server said "Well, there is a lot going on". I don't accept that as an excuse. Additionally, if we asked for something, such as ice, it would not be provided without asking multiple times. Got an Italian salad. They provided no dressing or crackers. Was seated at the table for 70 minutes before our pizza was delivered.The food was pretty good. The pizzas arrived as ordered and were hot and tasty. There are a lot of places to eat in Evansville and the lack of good service is a big turn off. They are ruining an Evansville staple. I have noticed that management has never replied to a review on here so I suspect that they won't be bothered this time either but maybe this will help make a dining decision for someone else. read more

Started out a bit confusing, walked in to Wash ave location, only a bout 4 tables occupied, stood at the entrance for a couple minutes, no one bothered to swing by or at least say "sit wherever", so I finally just grabbed a table. The fish special on Friday shows $7.50 on website, its actually on special at $9.99 on Friday. The fish was not bad or good, typical fried fish for around here. The bun was a horrible cheap bun, the fries were crinkle-cut frozen, so no win there either. The coleslaw was ok. The worst part of all is a pizza joint with hardly any beer selection! I will never understand how places around here still think everyone wants to drink bud or miller light. They had one decent beer on tap, a Cincinnati IPA. They have no beer menu, and server wasnt up to speed on what they actually had available, so we played guessing games with each other until I asked if I could look at the coolers behind the bar to actually see what they had. To clarify: server did a fine job altogether, just wasnt familiar with the 5 or so beer options available, which, without a drink menu, is a pretty big fail. Get a beer menu, save your servers the time. And for fraks sake, get some variety in your beer options. Doubtful I would return to eat here. read more

It seems to have a great following for breakfast, from 6:30am to 10:30, but don't neglect the rest. Pizza, pizza sandwiches, and burgers are great, and draft beer is $2. Jenny is a good waitress. She earned the one star I am giving. Yay, Jenny. The food earned zero stars. Pizza crust was nearly non-existent and tasted like a saltine cracker. My cheese was on top of my toppings, so I could see anything but white and yellow cheese, which was too thick and oily-not traditional pizza cheese. We also ordered a simple salad to share; I requested just veggies, but it had bacon on it, which the vegetarians in my group did not enjoy. The salad consisted of uneven chunks of torn ice berg lettuce, a boiled egg, and a tasteless, less than ripe tomato. I think the bar must keep Roca Bar going, as there were many liquors on display. However, we found this place with a search for pizza. They should get a good dough recipe, and buy quality cheeses with more flavor. Pizzas start with a delicious pizza dough, and add sauce, cheese, and then toppings, in that order. It is hard to ruin pizza. But they got 5 stars on ruining pizza. read more

1 Star for Food 5 Stars for service and ambience. Bought lunch for new associates today. Carry-out 3 Lg Pizzas ($85), were ready on time (as stated per phone). But after getting back to work, I discovered one pizza was completely incorrect, and ALL were burned to char. They did offer to re-make the order, but couldn't get back to get it. They then offered to reimburse my card completely! This was a reprieve! I just don't understand how any food service business could let an order go out the door like this! If it wasn't for the fact that our first visit two weeks ago, the pizza was so amazing, they would've lost my business completely! This place is open for lunch SEVEN DAYS PER WEEK AT 11:00 am! Closes M-TH until 9:00, FR-SAT 10:00 pm, and SU until 7:00 pm. It has been here since 1943. When the original owner decided it was time to quit, the new owners kept all the recipes and brought their desire to update as well. The ambiance remains. The place is very clean. I was immediately greeted by Mary and served a drink. The pizza is what I was here for, but they offer many Italian and American choices. If you are a deep dish fan, this place will change your mind! I don't know how they do it. A perfectly crispy, thin crust that stands up to heavy sauce and toppings! Phenomenal!!! This was our first time at the new location. The food was delicious as always and our server Brittany was fantastic. I miss the ambience of the old place. The lighting was a little bright. Plus, the wait staff started stacking chairs on top of empty tables at 7:30. It was a little off putting and unwelcoming. It's almost like they were saying "We're closing soon. It was not the experience I thought it would be. It took a very long time for the waitress to take our order. I tried to order the kids breakfast with one egg, one meat, and fruit. She never eats two eggs. I was told that she couldn't order the kids meal because she was too old. I had to order the adult meal with two eggs. I ordered her scrambled with cheese... no cheese, but I was charged for the cheese. We tried the Roca Bar when the new ownership took over on Kentucky...we tried it 3 times...the food was good if you were willing to wait and IF they actually brought what you ordered. The drinks were not great. But the SERVICE was the worst I have ever experienced. They moved to their new location so we thought they might have improved. No. It was WORSE. The place was LOUD. We had a RUDE waitress. I noticed that Mr. Hermann was VERY attentive to a couple of tables while we, and the tables around us, waited...and waited...and finally a waitress showed up. No hello, just what'll it be? We waited for drinks...some didn get theirs for 40 minutes! The food took that long too. went to Roca bar last night, 12/11/24. They were not busy as only 3 tables had customers. I ordered a beer and it was brought quickly. Something was terrible wrong with the drink and I took it back to the bar for a replacement. We gave our order and after waiting 45 minutes the waitress told us that the computer went down and they lost our order. By now there were more tables filling up and our order would be behind all of them. there were no apologies or attempt to make anything right. we have been going to roca bar for years but this will be the last. we left and had pizza somewhere else. read more

A friend of ours invited us to go to Roca Bar, we live in Newburgh so we passed 50 restaurants to get there. We used to go here frequently, but probably have been here for several years. Let's just say I can't wait to go back. This is a bold statement, but it may be the best pizza in Evansville. We started off with the classic Italian Salad and it was top notch. The perfect blend of lettuce, tomato, eggs, olives and cheese and the dressing came on the side. We got the pizza loaded, others got specific toppings, but we were all in awe of the perfect crust and flavorful toppings. Hats off Roca Bar for continuing an Evansville tradition. The food is good. Or at least the one time I actually got any food, it was good. I've been to the new location twice. Both times, it was not terribly busy with lots of empty tables. First, the atmosphere. It's very confusing when you walk in. There is no indication as to whether you seat yourself or wait to be seated. The first time I went I was meeting someone who was already there, so it wasn't an issue. The next time, we walked in, stood there a few minutes looking around - an employee who was sweeping said hi but still didn't indicate if we should seat ourselves. We finally just sat down. The space itself is very industrial with one wall covered in tvs and high ceilings with exposed duct work. There is very little actual decor. This makes it quite loud. Next, the service. The first time I went, someone who looked to be about 12 yrs old took my drink order. About 15 minutes later, another server came and asked if anyone had taken our order. When we said no, he said he saw we had drinks so assumed we'd been waited on. After he took our order, the food came out relatively timely. The next time we visited, there was a discussion about who should take our order, but it was decided fairly quickly. So we placed our order - which consisted of one sandwich with onion rings, and then waited. And waited. And waited. Our server came by once after about 15 minutes and said our food would be out "soon". About 15 minutes later I asked her if we were ever getting food. She gave some lame excuse about our order getting picked up and taken to another table but said the kitchen was just finishing it up. Another 10 minutes later, someone else asked if we'd been waited on. Holy crap - would anyone actually wait 40 minutes just to put in an order. I told her we'd ordered 40 minutes ago. She said she'd go check. We got up to leave. As we were at the door, she came out and said it was just about to come out - though I didn't see anyone coming out with food. We told her it was too late and left. The food seems to be good but they clearly have absolutely no front of house management nor organization whatsoever and the frustration is just not worth it for a decent, but average sandwich. read more

Stopped in with the family after a soccer game to enjoy some pizza. We ordered a cheese pizza, the Roca Pesto pizza, a Luke-A-Boli stromboli sandwich, onion rings, and an order of both BBQ and Hot wings. The cheese pizza was great, nice crunch on the crust. Kids loved the wings, gave them an 8 out of 10 rating . The Roca Pesto pizza was good, and surprisingly as good or better the next day! The stromboli was good stuff, just the right amount of ingredients and the toasted bread was on point. Onion rings were nice and crispy, as was the ice cold beer to wash it all down with Good service, lively bar atmosphere with football on the TVs. Evansville, Indiana is actually a treasure trove of great pizzerias. Sure, Chicago has amazing deep dish pies, but Evansville has some of the best thin, cracker crust pizzas you'll ever consume. And, Roca Bar has perfected this style of pizza. Now, over the past 10 years, there are now 3 (I think) Roca Bar locations, but none compare to the original location, on Kentucky Avenue. Yep, it's old and dated, located in a horrible section of town, but trust me, this location is the best. In addition to the pizza, which has the best crust, and sauce, of any pizza I've ever eaten, Roca Bar has the best Italian salad you'll ever eat. I'm not a huge salad person, but you must try their version. It's a meal in itself. Beer and liquor. Yep, Roca doesn't disappoint on this level either. Even though it's in a bad part of town, the patrons are generally not low rent people, so don't let the 'hood fool you! Generous portions ( no need to add extra cheese, etc.), generally good, to excellent service, and reasonable prices. Every time I'm back in Evansville, a trip to Roca Bar is guaranteed. read more

Was taken for the first time by my kids. They were very excited to show me the place. It is a very blue collar establishment with diner style wait staff. The salads were great, the food was pretty good, and the pricing wasn't bad at all. I can see how this would be known as a "neighborhood hang out". I would definitely go again. The kids love the place and all their food offerings. They particularly love the pizza. I gave it a 4 star due to the tired looking facility. I would recommend the food and a place to visit for sure. read more
