I tried 4 tacos of different meat types to see what this place is all about. The fish taco was excellent! The fish itself was not battered but well seasoned and cooked perfectly. The shrimp taco... same! Delicious! The chorizo taco... also delicious! And my personal fave was the lengua (beef tongue) which I'm always a fan of. The prices were fair enough and I was pretty satisfied with my meal and the huge basket of tortillas and complimentary salsa they served. The place is cool and feels like other Mexican restaurants I've been to in the past. I look forward to going back and trying their burritos. Viva Mi Ranchito! read more

Came alone for dinner. Got seated quickly and was immediately asked what drink I was wanting.. Water of course. Stay Hydrated! Looking around, everything was clean and looked fresh. It wasn't too busy but wasn't too empty.. The perfect day. My waitress was very kind , but a bit awkward. I got myself a (Fajita) Burrito. Classic choice for me, It's my usual go-to when trying new Mexican spots. It comes with rice and beans. Everything was delicious, although the beans were a tad bit sour. Not sure why. I didn't end up finishing them due to that fact. Other than that, the Food was MAGNIFICENT!! Just had a difficult time connecting with the waitress. I'll 150% Come again, though...Ha! read more

Food is not authentic, guacamole dip was not only simple it tasted sour badly and had a black appearance., the ground beef in the enchilada and hard taco were nasty, the waiter wasn't friendly, and there was no music nor good tv programs on it. On top of it the margarita supposedly had tequila in it and didn't. read more

I am in the area for work and had a taste for Mexican food. Tried to call in an order and no one answered. So, I figured I would just stop in and grab it on my way to my hotel. Walked in and the person seating people was helpful with taking my order. Order was quick. Then I had to pay, and when I tell you the old man behind the counter was not happy or interested in me trying to pay for my food. I was clearly interrupting his novela time on his phone. He was rude. I paid and then he went back to his phone. I had to say " My food?" He rolled his eyes and then turned around to get the food that was sitting there. Wow. Food was 3/5 Service 1/5 I won't be back. Once was enough. read more

Great food, great service! I have been seven times, Prices are very reasonable, Margaritas are on point, servers are prompt, food is clearly in line with other Owensboro businesses, have sampled at least 12 dishes and enjoyed them all! read more

This is a clean and cheerful Mexican restaurant. The staff was attentive and responsive. They kept me supplied in water. There was a good crowd on the Monday night when I dined. I noticed they had margaritas if you were so inclined. The menu was full and very reasonable. I had enchiladas with Verde sauce. I enjoyed every bite. The prices were very reasonable. read more

You may find Mi Ranchito a little off the beaten path, but it is worth the trip down Carter Road. There is ample parking on both sides of the building. They have a large L-shaped dining room that doesn't feel crowded even with a large party. The menu is quite extensive, so you may want to take a few minutes to look it over. My personal favorite is the chicken fajitas. I don't know what they season them with, but they are perfect!!! If you like it spicy like I do, ask for hot sauce....it's a treat, a little smoky with some good heat!!!! We have always had great, fast service. Oh... did I mention warm chips??? read more

Well our food was truly delicious and very generous portions. Make sure to order the tomatillo salsa if you're craving something different than the red salsa they serve with the chips. I ordered the guacamole (which looks innocuous) but it was surprisingly yummy. The service on the whole was satisfactory except for one glitch. Family oriented.. lots of families were enjoying themselves. Noise level very tolerable, unless you're a grouchy, miserable person. If I lived in Owensboro, I would be a regular here. read more

I did NOT see ROACHES on the menu. When I arrived to this store, it wasn't as busy as usual, which I guess is a good thing, because after me and my family sat down, my toddler brothers food was brought out, just fries because he's a picky eater, HOWEVER, that is NOT what he received, he told us the fries were good the first few bites, then, he saw something a little extra crispy, and can you guess what it was? a ROACH, a choking hazard, he told us "there's a bug in my food.." and at first we didn't believe him, until we pulled it out, and when we asked about it, the waitress picked it up, looked at it funny and brought it took the back as if he was checking if it was their species of infestation and took it to the back. We asked for a refund and only received one for my toddler brothers food, however, I could not eat there comfortably knowing there was BUGS in the food. Unacceptable. read more

Tonight was our last night at Mi Ranchitos. Me and the boys like many nights stopped to have a late dinner. They took our order brought our drinks back and khelin had a short straight hair on his cup, no biggie called the server over. He takes the water, cool. He brings back a water I'm thinking alright we're cool. Khelin looks at the rim of his cup and it's lip stick and a hunk of what looks to be food on the rim of the cup. Khelin's 11 so two incidents, is really pushing it at this point him and kameron are grossed out. I'm thinking okay maybe they have a new dishwasher. Few minutes pass and out comes our food, it looks delicious! Me and the boys are starving so we're about to dig in and khelin pulls a long straight grey hair out of his food. Everyone knows we ALL HAVE CURLY HAIR! So now I'm livid becaise 3xs I mean I get a bad night but come on. I'm still cool but at this point we're ready to just leave! The waiter comes over and we tell him what's going on I then flag my waiter and give her the run down, 3 dirty cups and now a hair in his food. I'm a business woman myself and sometimes even with accidents you just have to suck it up and take accountability. I've been going to mi Ranchitos for YEARS I get my clients to order to-go from here ALL THE TIME! I LITERALLY MARKET THEIR MARGARITAS LIKE I HAVE OWNERSHIP. LMAO I then asked the waiter for the check mind you she said she was taking this stuff off. I look at my bill and with 3 empty stomachs hair and dirty cups it came up to 30 bucks literally took nothing off and all the food sat right in the table. I was asked to speak to the owner a man who has seen me for years come into their establishment. I told him what happened and told him I would pay if that's what he believed we owed but I wouldn't be backk if thats how we were going to be treated . HE THEN TOLD ME AND MY TWO BOYS HE NEVER WANTED TO SEE OUR FACE! WITH THAT BEING SAID, I WILL MISS HAVING A HANG OUT FOR A QUICK GIRLS DAY DATE. BUT I WILL NEVER BE BACK AND I WISH I COULD HAVE ALL THE MONEY I'VE BROUGHT TO THIS COMPANY. VERY DISAPPOINTED AND HURT! read more

Extremely great food! Ill be back and bring my friends and family. Highly suggest this def 5 stars

The service was fast and friendly. My chili relleno was good. The other two items weren't that great. The ground beef reminded me a bit of hot dog chili. They make a good, if somewhat bland queso dip. read more

Mi Ranchito is better than anyone else in town. That's all I have. Food is always 10/10. Salsa is goated. Also, if you have the time visit their 2nd location by Donatos on Parrish Ave. for that GOOD good. read more

Met here with some friends on a Tuesday night. The restaurant is located in a strip mall. It's not a fancy place by any means. It had a mix match of different type tables and chairs. The safe greeted us and were very friendly. The chips were hot and the salsa tasted fresh and spicy. I ordered a the quesadilla Veracruz with chicken. It the food came out fast. I enjoyed the chicken in the quesadilla, it had a lot of seasoning that wasn't overpowering. The onions and peppers were okay, they could've been cooked just a minute or two longer. The rice was the usual Mexican restaurant variety, not amazing but not bad. I'll come back and try the other food if I'm in the mood for Mexican. If I'm looking to meet with some people and spend a few hours at a restaurant, I'll probably try another, because the atmosphere isn't the best. The food is pretty good though. read more

Get the burrito! It's huge and delicious! I like to avoid chains and buy local when I can so when I came here with my dad for lunch, I was happy to give them a try. I met the owner who was having lunch at a table next to mine. The menu is straightforward. The dining room is clean but lacks much atmosphere, so come with an appetite for good food and fewer frills. I will definitely be back the next time I come to town. read more

I am guilty of having a favorite dish for whatever style restaurant I go to. Here my favorite is Arroz con Pollo. I add Camarones (shrimp) and broccoli to make it a little more hearty. Of all the Mexican restaurants in town, the shrimp is always fresh at Mi Ranchito. Plump and firm. Everything seems fresh (especially the broccoli) but I am most sensitive to the shrimp. Nothing ruins a meal like a bad shrimp! read more

The only Authentic Mexican Food in Owensboro!! Originally from So Cal and I had been missing REAL Mexican food, since relocating to Kentucky. Hubby & I tried out this place on the recommendation of a co-worker. He had Carnitas & I had Carne Asada tacos. Bother were absolutely delicious. Chips are fresh & salsa is very tasty, not too spicy. Great food at a great price. Fast and fresh. Beef nachos and taco salad were tasty. Enchiladas Verde...fantastic.

This is NOT a sit down, get chips and salsa, entree microwaved kind of Mexican restaurant. What it is .....is authentic Mexican. You order your food at the counter. The guy behind the counter was very helpful in answering our questions about the menu items. I had the chicken covered in mole sauce. I've had mole sauce from many other Mexican restaurants, and this is among the best. Just the right combination of sweetness and subtle heat. The chicken was moist and very tender. My wife and I sampled the tamale wrapped in a banana leaf. The cornmeal dough had good flavor and consistency. Even though the meat was tasty, there could have been a bit more in the tamale. Service was prompt and effective. read more
