This is the first time I have ordered curbside carry out at Drake's as my friends and I always dine in. Today I just wanted to order a meal and take it back to my hotel room. They did a great job packaging my food, and my order was ready right on time. The employee who brought my food out was very friendly. Had the Buffalo chicken quesadilla and mango cart to drink. The quesadilla was good, alot of chicken but missing flavor. For something labeled spicy, it wasn't at all spicy to me. Great atmosphere and staff were great. read more

This evening, Friday, April 3, 2026, we decided to have a drink and eat dinner at Drake's in Owensboro, KY. At precisely 8:10 pm we checked in with the hostess. We asked for outside seating. The hostess told us to wait to be seated. She took our phone number and we received a text telling us we were on the wait list. We decided to sit at the bar and have a drink while waiting to be seated. About 30 minutes waiting, I decided to ask the hostess if they would notify us when our table was ready. She confirmed that our table was being cleaned and in a couple of minutes, we would be called. It took another 20 minutes or so but we were not called. In the meantime, we noticed newly arrived customer just walked in and helped themselves taking their tables. The hostess, young lady who was much too amused by her cell phone, forgot to notify us that our table was ready. What she really forgot was to tell us that outside area we were trying to sit was turnrd into open seating after we checked in. After close to one hour, we helped ourselves find a table and sat there. The hostess disappeared and we never received a text reminder of the status of our table. On a positive note, our waitess, Taylor, was very courteous, professional and helpful. The food was great. The reason I'm giving Drake's of Owensboro, KY a 3 star is because of the poor experience we had with the hostess and the overall check in process. I think Drake's management can and should do a better job having an attentive and more focused hostess. read more

This place had music in the background with music videos playing as well as sports on the big screen. You can sit at the bar or in one of the tables. Their staff is friendly but wasn't really told to wait or seat yourself. For someone who hasn't been here had to ask if it's open seating. It's pretty casual. We ordered burgers. I got the morning glory burger: pepper jack cheese, fried egg, bacon, fire roasted salsa, and fresh cut toppings also with Tator tots as my sides. The Tator tots were ok kinda hard and not seasoned much and the burger was good didn't care for the salsa. Hubby got Drakes Patty Melt: cheddar cheese, caramelized onions, horseradish-Parmesan mayo on toasted country white bread with fries as sides. He was sad he didn't get a side of pickle. We had to ask for napkins and finished our meal with no refill to our water. read more

Drakes never disappoints! but in this day it did. Which is a shame. Service. I know I know, everyone is short staffed but when there's one bartender managing two bars in two seperate rooms... it's not good. Waited to be asked if I was dining in or out?, waited for bill, couldn't find bartender for missing part of food, waited on bill, just waited. What's frustrating is I saw the bartender just sitting in bar stool scrolling on phone. Now... with that said... food was spot on. Sushi roll (dynamite) was awesome. And finally tried the fried chicken sandwich. Which was huge, crunchy and really good. But had to wait for sauce bc it came dry. If this was my first time, I wouldn't go back. A friend suggested an early dinner at Drakes on a Wednesday evening. I hadn't been since they first opened, and I was eager to try them again. My first experience was not good, but what a difference a few years made!!! We opted for a booth in the back (air conditioned) section, and although the seats were high, there was a nice foot rest, so your legs aren't dangling. My friend and I were able to enjoy a nice conversation early on. Our server, a lovely gentleman was so attentive, but knew we were there to talk. I was so pleasantly surprised at this level of great service in a sports bar!!!! Honestly some other " Family Sports Bars" on that side of town could take some lessons..... we dined on a beautiful filet of salmon, a BIG chicken sandwich... 5 BIG stars for the perfection... fries, both sweet potato and crinkle cut (yum) were fresh and hot. My only regret was the music and atmosphere turned UP about 6:00 pm, and my friend and I could no longer hold a conversation. Hey..... I know lots of folks love a lively loud eatery/bar!!!! Once we were seated we did get our drinks right away, but took a long time to place the order and even longer to get the food. When in to order out, they were moderately busy, but I got my order in less than 10 min. I got J.B.'S BONELESS BITES they are exactly as describe in the menu. These are fantastic, but I didn't get the honey mustard sauce I got ranch dressing in stead. Dip the bites in ranch then the scallions yummy! I also got the CALIFORNIA COBB with chicken: any salad with is a winner for me. You all know I like corn in my chili, cornbread, and salsa and Richelle does not fully embrace the benefits of a little corn. They do not skimp on the chicken on this salad, wow. liked the citrus vinaigrette but I think they missed the avocado & blue cheese crumbles on my salad. Maybe ordering the ranch with my naked wings confused them cause most ranch dressing folks are not blue cheese dressing folks too, we'll I am. Ordered delivery and was impressed! The food was all great, with the exception of the chicken in the Buffalo chicken wrap which had a funky taste to it. Otherwise, the blt salad, fries, and cookie dessert were all fantastic- and everything traveled well which was a nice bonus. read more

I visited this location with a rather large party (think 10+). A downside is that the restaurant acoustics are not the greatest so it can be hard to hear/talk especially with the music in the background. However, we had phenomenal service. Nice outdoor patio that filled up after a local school function. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. I had the patio punch, which was recommended by the server. It was sweet yet refreshing with fresh fruit floating in it, yummy. My friend had the steak medallions with fries. He said they were good and what you would expect from a small piece of steak. I had the sliders with lettuce, tomato and pickles on the side. Also asked for mustard which came at the same time, yay, sweet potato fries were waffle cut and ok. The staff refused to lower the fans or adjust the air conditioning, even though we had toddlers who were clearly freezing. Our group of 12 adults and two children in high chairs had to wait an hour to be seated, only to be placed at a combination of round and square tables that were far too small to dine comfortably. Plenty of other options to choose from in the area. Ordered a beer when I sat down and looked over the menu. Decided to start with a bowl of Chili which I assumed would be quick. Not quick and not even lukewarm. It was room temp at best and there were some hot spots which tells me they nuked it. Had to ask the bartender a second time for my second beer. She told me she needed to clean glasses! Told her I did not want the chili and I would take a Chicken Teriyaki bowl, which is one of my fave's. Came out quicker than the chili but not hot in any way. Again, lukewarm at best. Unfortunately I'll be taking my business elsewhere. We went at 6:30 on a Friday night with 6 adults and a baby. We were seated immediately, our drink orders were take. And delivered just as quickly! Hubby and I shared Filet Medallions with Mac and cheese and a salad and were NOT disappointed!! The drinks were strong on alcohol and ice, but very good! The people with us had burgers, chicken, various sides, and a crab Rangoon sushi. It was all huge portions and delicious, with one exception: The sweet potato waffle fries were way over done and more like chips. We are in Owensboro visiting family. We decided on sushi for our celebratory dinner and came to Drakes. The service was great, but the sushi was upon the worst I've ever had. I got a roll topped with crab and it was so stinky and nasty. I'm pretty sure the crab was vacuum sealed and dried before presentation. Like nothing I've ever seen before!!! Gross!!!! I ate one piece and couldn't eat anything else. I had the chicken teriyaki bowl as well and it was a really weird chicken. I ate the rice and avocado only. The cucumber was slimy. Well...this is a great experience! The atmosphere is fun and inviting. You have indoor/outdoor seating.The service was wonderful. We had a young lady that was in training and she and her lead server were both very friendly and attentive. Now let's talk about the food. I ordered the baked lava roll from the sushi selection. It was amazing!!! That was just a starter. I also got the mini Lucy juicy...I think that was the name. It was 2 mini burgers with a special sauce. Very tasty. The other 2 that were with me got buffalo chicken wrap with a side of fries. Dipping sauces were ranch and blue cheese. Also , teriyaki chicken bowl. Neither of them complained. The bowl was a lot for the young lady that ordered it. But really....what you guys want to know about is how restroom was.
