Pork medallions

Was looking for a lunch spot while in town for lunch, and I heard this was a go-to spot for many folks. I can see why. I had a pork lunch special that was nicely cooked, quickly served, and reasonably priced...kind of a trifecta for a quick lunch (and, to be clear, quite tasty since the "nicely cooked" comment might not adequately convey the point!). Lots of options on the menu for every appetite. Service was friendly, attentive, and helpful. Good atmosphere, relaxed but not divey or anything, lots of space (I got there when it opened, and much of that space was full when I left--twas indeed a go-to spot).

Great service and food . Decent historical building with comfortable booths.. we tried the batter fried mushrooms which were tasty.. chicken salad sandwich with sweet potato fries were just right for a lighter lunch. Nice historical building ambience

Check out the amount of chicken in my $20 chicken alfredo. That's right -- a whole four bites.

Another Great Restaurant in Downtown Owensboro !!! I had heard about Colby's and always wanted to try it. I finally had an extra night in which I had the opportunity to try Colby's and went there for dinner. Colby's has been around since 1987 and is a staple in Owensboro. Their menu has many comfort foods, American Classics, Bourbons, Cocktails, some craft beers and a whole lot more. On my visit, I tried 3 dishes and a 'Wheat' Bourbin from a local distillery. First up was a glass of Green River Kentucky Straight Wheated Bourbon which set the course for my meal. My first choice of the evening was Colby's Classic Shrimp Louisianne which was Six large shrimp sautéed in cajun butter and served sizzling hot in a skillet with a side of Cheesy Garlic Bread. The shrimp were plump, juicy and full of flavour and a great starter. Next up was Colby's take on New Orleans Gumbo made with a blend of shrimp, scallops, chicken, onions, peppers, andouille sausage and rice. The 'cup' size was almost a meal itself with big chunks of andouille sausage and a palatable spice level. For my main course, I had the 8oz center-cut aged filet mignon served medium-rare with sides of mashed potatoes, brown gravy, sauteed mushrooms and veggies. The streak was a little overcooked but tender enough to be able to enjoy. The servers and the food were really good and I see why people flock to Colby's after all these years. Another great place to try when you are in the Owensboro area.

Delicious food, fast friendly service and cozy ambiance in the historic district. The staff was great. We had a party of 12 and had great service on a busy Friday night If you arrive between 4-6 they offer early supper specials. We had the prime rib with baked potato and broccoli for $19.99 The serving of prime rib was a generous 8oz portion and we had to get a take out box! The drink and a desert was included in the special. We had three prime rib specials and two apps and our bill was just $70!!!Great place to gather with friends. .

Had lunch there last week. The gumbo is always a "must" have. Wide variety on the menu at reasonable prices

The oldies jams are still in play and keeping the vibe upbeat. I've never been in here tearing up because that forbidden broken heart love song came on at the wrong time. I've been doing burgers and shakes and new flavors of ice cream and I'm discovering that chocolate ice cream and its many descendants are quite delicious. For example I beta tested the Kentucky Fudge Pecan Pie in a baby sized cup and found that I love it! I also reaffirmed that I have zero allergic reaction to pecans. Furthermore, I discovered that pie crust bits in ice cream are flipping fantastic and something I will include in my extensive list of things I am thankful for come this November's Turkey holiday. Props to the Ice Cream expert whom I had been told crafts these flavors in house. Is it some kind of Ice Cream elf? Maybe. That doesn't even matter. Who or whatever is making this delicacy is doing a great job at creaming this ice with fantastic flavor and ruining my ability to drop this final 4 lbs I'm trying to shed. Try it out and enjoy this wondrous thing! But be warned... the pecans may contain nuts. UPDATE: I just discovered that they offer TATOR TOTS! It should be known just by looking at me that tater tots are my favorite means of delivering potatoes to my belly. This delivery process is further expedited by spooning steaming hot chili and shredding cheese over it. They've titled an entire movie after how I eat chili cheese tots. "Gone in 60 Seconds". I devoured it voraciously and it disappeared. I don't know how it tasted because it was immediately absorbed once it appeared on the counter. I'm sure i enjoyed it though. Try it yourself and let me know if it is good. I am not reliable in this instance.

I love their peanut butter & jelly sandwich with chopped nuts and fresh sliced strawberries!read more
