A lot of people I know and some fellow Yelpers seem to rag on Cheddar's. I really just don't see why. Sure, it's another chain in a town laden with them. Of the many chain options at our disposal, Cheddar's is one of the better options. This chain proclaims that everything is made from-scratch, in-house. When I first heard this I thought to myself, in the words of Luke Skywalker, "That's not true. That's impossible." While all the selections at Cheddar's are likely not wholly homemade, food preparation here is far more extensive than most any other major chain. You can tell that it's made to order, rather than pre-cooked a thousand miles away and simply heated at the restaurant. It's truly an incredible feat for a chain of such size. The food has always came out hot and fresh each time I've been here. The quality of the food easily surpasses similar restaurants such as Applebee's and TGI Friday's. If the quality doesn't bring in the hungry, the portion sizes will. At Cheddar's, you get a lot of food for your money; and not just a lot of food, but decent food as well. The service has always been good on each trip, albeit sometimes a bit on the slow side during peak hours of operation. Even two years after opening, Cheddar's remains a popular place for diners. I'll cut them some slack on when the service is slower, simply because it's a real challenge trying to run a business that's almost constantly busy. All in all, Cheddar's is welcome addition to the Lincoln area. I will be back for the pleasant aura, fresh food, good service, great value, and but of course, a margarita, maybe two. read more

Absolutely terrible! The house salad was frozen lettuce and 2 sad little tomatoes. The worst cosmopolitan i have ever had in my entire life. I asked for the steak to be medium rare and it was well done. The waiter kept bugging every 2 minutes and all I was thinking was: may I take a bit and chew before you harass me again? It was way too cold inside for no reason at all. Overall terrible place and won't see me there again. Way too overpriced for the quality of the food. Came in about an hour before closing, so I knew I wasn't about to hang around long. I understand around closing time, there's nightly duties and sanitation's, but almost every employee was in the back being obnoxiously loud; yelling, banging things constantly, etc. It took about 5 minutes for one of the employees to acknowledge me by the door after having one server look at me several times from the kitchen. The bad service continued but it got so bad that I just asked for a box and the ticket. It's sad the others didn't take account how their behavior may have affected the server helping me. Steak was cooked properly but such a poor quality that most of it was not edible, prime cut at that! Fish was over cooked and dry. Even though prices are not high this is not a place worth going to. The food here is spot on and amazing!! I've had over a dozen menu items over the years and it's always delicious!! There is great consistency, which is my favorite attribute for restaurants. The atmosphere and decor are very well done. The prices are very, very reasonable, too. Okay, so sometimes they are very busy but the food is consistently good and the drinks are fun! Most recently I sat at the bar because we had a show to catch and the place had a 20 minute wait. I went to this establishment tonight, May 16 2017, with my Mom, two sisters, and my 2 year old nephew to celebrate a late Mother's Day. The host staff was training a couple new employees and were very friendly and welcoming. Our server, Dani, was amazing. She greeted us quickly, was very diligent in checking up on us, and even shared a few stories. I couldn't have been happier with her warmth and positive attitude. All of our meals came out to us quickly and we were all pleased with our orders. The reason however that I'm giving this review 2 stars is because of how I was treated while leaving. The weather was bad and pouring rain so I elected to pull the car closer to the restaurant for my family. As I was walking out of the door I passed a kitchen manager having a conversation with the hostess who seated us. I walked out of the door into the rain and I thought I heard my 2 year old nephew say my name. I went back inside, clearly confused because I didn't know if I had actually heard him or not, and I asked both the manager and the hostess if a 2 year old had run by there. They relied that he had ran up to the front but had ran back to our table when he didn't see me. As I was walking around the host stand to check to make sure my nephew was back at the table, I saw the kitchen manager obviously rolling his eyes to the hostess because of the situation. I felt very judged and displeased with his blatant disrespect towards one of his patrons. As I turned to exit the building to get the car I thanked him for rolling his eyes at me. I am no stranger to the restaurant life. I have many years of experience in the service industry. I am also aware that restaurant employees get annoyed with guests. I usually don't care about things like this because I understand. However, his obvious disrespect has infuriated me to the point that I don't want to return to their establishment. read more

i'd give no stars if you asked me. i heard a girl advocating for herself, and she got sent home. she definitely could've used better language. i head her say people were getting mad at her for not being in the front but there were people mad at her for not having silverware. the poor little girl can't help but be overwhelmed when she's just doing her job. she can't be in 2 places at once. the manager was very rude to her. we left immediately and went elsewhere, i just felt terrible for her. she's just trying to do her job. seems like management is very poor there, there definitely needs to be some issues resolved, no wonder why they're so short staffed. anyways, 10/10 would not go unless you want to witness poor management! read more

I am very upset with my experience at cheddars. I went for the first time this Saturday, and while our sever was very nice and professional, everything else was terrible!! I got a kids meal chicken tenders that were so tough you couldn't even bite off a piece to eat! Literally like rubber. But I was like "ok whatever I paid $7 for a bunch of fries which were fine...." Nope! I was with a group of 10 people and we all asked for separate checks, but then they accidentally ran my card for they entire tables meals!! So now I've paid in total, $87 for fries, and it is Tuesday and they still haven't refunded me! I've called my bank and they told me to contact cheddars and I have been calling for the past 2 days and no one will get back to me! Or their phone won't even ring and say "user unavailable" ??? What?? No way to leave a message or anything? Luckily I kept the voided receipt and will be disputing this but really? It's not like I accidentally got charged for one item this is $87 I have now paid for a kids meal of which I only ate the fries!! Not to mention it's Christmas in less than a week and I could really use my money that I didn't even spend! Needless to say I will not be returning or recommending this place. read more

When I plan to spend $20 or so on dinner for myself, I expect to leave full and satisfied. My husband and I both took home leftovers and loved the food! The salmon dishes never disappoint (the bourbon glaze is delicious) and each meal and sides is filling, worth the price, and tastes great. Our waitress Dallas was attentive and our appetizer, salads, and meals came out just as we finished the previous food. There was no wait time for us, not to say that there won't ever be one, but the timing of how the meal progressed was very fluent. Also, the area was clean and very classy-looking. Decided to got to Cheddar's to see what was cooking. (Metaphor on purpose). Had a short wait and was escorted to my table by a vapid 20-year-old who wanted to chat about the weather (he's trained to make small talk)....as I walked to the table, I spied the busboy drop a rag on the floor, pick it up, and wipe off my table with the same rag. Then we stood there as they prepared the table ... with a drink binder....no silverware, no napkin, no menu ... just a drink binder. Then I waited until the disorganized and overworked waiter showed up to grace me with his presence. I told him it'd be nice to have a menu and he agreed. So now I'm sitting at a dirty table, with no silverware and no menu ... but I am brought a glass of water and instant Cheddar's lemon aid.....god, what ambiance. The "food" came and it was C- factory food .... I ate part of it and fled. Here's why you should not go to Cheddar's: 1. The service isn't 2. The place is loud and filthy 3. The food is worse than horrible 4. The 20-something staff are morons and clowns However, if you hate someone and want to get even with them, have them go to Cheddar's palace of horrors. Went there on a busy night, sat and ate at the bar so I didn't have to wait 30 minutes for a table. The bar has a huge fish tank behind it so you can watch the fishies while your wait for you food lol. The drink specials are cheap and awesome. You can get a giant Texas tea drink (it's like a long island) for $3.50. Not sure why they needed 4 bartenders, I guess because a couple of them had no idea what was going on. Surprisingly, we ended up getting great service though. I ordered a steak, wanted it done medium, it came out well done. I know Cheddar's is not a steakhouse but if you're going to have steak on the menu then you should know how to cook them. The steak itself was kind of tough and not from it being done more than I would like. The people I was with said their food was good but nothing special. My mother took me to lunch here, we both were first timers and let me just say every single part of our experience was a major let down. They served me a chicken sandwich with more tomato then chicken and it still had the end parts most chefs cut off, seriously half a whole freakin tomato was on my sandwich, really unappetizing and when I did tell the waitress, the managers were super rude about it. They said that's how you roast a tomato, whole I guess. Ever since that visit me and my 2 year old son have had nausea and diarrhea and we were the only ones that had bites of my tomato chicken sandwich, coincidence, maybe, all I know is it will be a very long time, possibly never that I will try this place again, which is really sad cause it's always fun to have new, exciting places to try in this town, am i right??? Don't order their smoked, four hours daily, Ribs on Sunday. They must be left over from Friday. The meat was gobbed with sauce and dry as the bones. Worst I've ever been served!!!! After reading the other reviews, I can say that our experience was a million times better than some others have been (maybe they've worked out some of the kinks??) We ate at Cheddars for a birthday. I liked that the menu offers a lite and fit portion...all are under 570 calories. I tried the salmon on this portion of the menu. It was a little dry, but had a good flavor, and the steamed broccoli it came with was amazing! I could go back and just order a plate of that ;). The other people in our party really enjoyed their food selections as well. We shared the chocolate cake for dessert and it is HUGE...definitely enough for 4 people to share!! I would say the food was a 4 The service was also great. Our server was efficient and polite. We were there around the 5PM hour and they were quick at getting drinks and bringing out food. I had mentioned that I would be sharing my broccoli and a side of carrots with my toddler and they asked if it would be helpful to bring it out ahead of the rest of the food. I felt like the service was definitely a 5 It's just normal american food, but a nice place that meets all needs and in a convenient/central part of town. We will definitely be back. read more

Second time I've come to this one in Lincoln. We waited 5 minutes for a table which was not bad. However, it took an hour for our food. My dad and my steaks were cold. My sisters and mom's food was ok, but a little on the cold side. For waiting that long for the food, it was obvious why it was cold. Cheddar's is very inconsistant. read more

Before going, my wife and I had heard mixed reviews about this place. Most of the time it was slow service but good food. Our expectations weren't very high as a result, so we came in expecting the process to take a long time. With the two of us at 7:30pm, the wait was about half an hour which is pretty much on par with other restaurants. However, this place was PACKED, people had to make parking in the empty lot next door and there were a good 30 people waiting to get seated, standing inside or outside. We looked at the menu while we were waiting and had pretty much made up our minds shortly after we were seated. The waitress was speedy and always checked up on us. We received our drinks within 5-10 minutes (just a couple of minutes for our waters and a few more minutes for our alcoholic beverages). And the food came within a timely matter, as well. For the food... One thing you have to remember is that all the food is made from scratch with each order. This is why, sometimes, it takes some time to get your food. But oh boy, is it good stuff! I ordered the Cajun pasta and it is probably one of the best tasting dishes I have ever ordered. My wife ordered the chicken fried steak, and although it wasn't on the same level of my pasta, it was still pretty good. The food came in a timely manner, I think the cooks are getting more efficient at making the food, something that is a growing process when a restaurant makes it's food from scratch and has just opened. I know this is a new place in the area, and everyone wants to try it out. But it is gross. When my fiance and I were told that family members wanted to do dinner there, we e-mailed Cheddars ahead of time to ask what vegetarian options they offered. We never heard back. When I arrived, I discovered that there are almost none-- not great in a town like Lincoln, with a thriving vegetarian and vegan population. Instead of having the plain, steamed vegetables, which I could make myself at home, I made the unfortunate choice of trying the Spasagna. Do not try to the Spasagna. I had an upset stomach all night! In addition, my fiance ordered a meal that was described as an entree, and when it came out, it was tiny, more like a side dish. Plus, my mother-in-law's food was cold. But at least the wait was super long. Yes, it's cheap for a sit-down restaurant, but it's still not worth it. read more

All I can say is meh, the food is mediocre at best. My girlfriend and I tried this place a couple of times when they first opened up. Our first time there I ordered a steak rare knowing most restaurant chains over cook there meat, it came out well done, I sent it back and the re-cook came out medium(I like my red meat pretty bloody) needless to say nothing special about this place, the one thing they have going for them is it's affordable......that's about it. read more

The food here is very good (this has been a recent turn around) - the service / people are NOT polite, pleasant, or even professional. I have worked in the restaurant business for 20+ years and have CONSTANTLY encountered rudeness from the employees here. In particular, the bartender is especially rude (on this particular night). I am a very pleasant person myself and understand the concept of the 'customer is always right' - however, this is not upheld or even expected from these employees. I would be HIGHLY embarrassed if I was the manager, general manager, owner, etc. of this particular location. Despite having great food, we will NOT be back. Ever. I would like to hear other experiences from this location, as I am greatly appalled from the behavior of the servers, bartender(s) and hostesses. read more

The manager apologized and promised to coach the waiter and saved our dining experience.
