I ordered grilled salmon with shrimp 5 oz. It was not bad. Salmon was a little dry shrimp was cooked yo within an inch of its death. Bed of rice underneath felt like a very thin layer of rice. Literally a thin topsheet of rice Once i took away the sides- it looked very little. I was done within five minutes Have to admit though that the taste was not bad. But very little and definitely not worth the amount we paid for it Also the lemonade machine died whilst we were there. And so we only got one decent glass of lemonade. Will we be back? Came out for lunch with the Mrs. We had not been here before so we tried it. Greeted by 1 of many at the hostess stand and she sat us in the bar area not the main dining room even though several tables were empty. (I dont drink) Our waiter arrived. Not guy, did a great job. By the time he came we were ready to order our meal. I had the chicken fried steak with fries and a salad. The salad was nice. But no Dorthy Lynch or French dressings. I had the honey mustard. The best salmon! Ordered the large portion today because I was so hungry. Every single time that I come here to eat, the salmon is perfectly done and all the food is delicious. It's consistent and you can tell that everything is made in house and made with Care. It's almost like eating at a locally owned restaurant even though I know it's a chain. Service is always friendly and today with no exception. My favorite thing on the menu is the bourbon, glazed salmon with a side of buttered corn off the cob and loaded mashed potatoes. The service was very poor. We arrived with about 35 minutes left before closing, and the server immediately set a negative tone by saying, "Let's make this quick," while throwing the menus on the table. Shortly after, he asked us, "Do you know how angry you make people?" When we jokingly asked if our food would be spat on, he responded, "Take your own risk," in an agitated tone. I went to cheddars in Lincoln with an old friend, lots of catching up to do. Our server was attentive, but not overly so, making it easy for us to talk. We each got the fried chicken, a single, and it was so delicious. We laughed that we could've each gotten the double! It was mid afternoon, so it was quiet, really a perfect way to catch up! Firstly was very surprised at the huge variety of reviews. We are not new to Cheddars, but we are to the one in Lincoln. We were lucky that it wasn't very busy because many of the reviews I read were at times when it was busy. When rushed mistakes are made and shortcuts are taken. I will say the food was good and waitress was ok also. Not great as we had to ask about an item or 2, although we were a larger group, 7 of us. None ordered that same as anyone else at the table. Mine and my wife's were very good. I would compare them to a similar to Granite City nearby. They advertise that their food is made from scratch, it seems not to be from a freezer. Rated them a 4 not for anything being wrong...just a couple of little things with the food and service One final comment. We ate at Cheddars more than once when we were in Branson, mostly for proximity and being open a little later after shows we went to. This place has gone downhill over the past several years. Whenever my elderly dad is in town, he wants to go here b/c it's a good location for family members to meet. We used to be able to tolerate it, but now the food is not good. Service is poor to average. For a scratch kitchen, the food doesn't taste homemade!! My family has ordered chicken and fish/seafood, rice in the past that was edible. More recently family members have ordered steaks and ribs that they couldn't eat. Tasted horrible. I usually order a chicken tender salad. I assume salads can't be messed up too bad. The portions used to be HUGE. I use to make two meals out of the salad, not anymore! They are about half the size nowadays. Also, I usually ask for oil and vinegar (as a sides) for my salad dressing. On at least two occasions the Waiters/waitresses have told me they are out of oil (per the cooks). How can a restaurant that serves fried food be out of oil?? I don't even ask for Olive oil b/c I just assume all they have is vegetable oil. I would not recommend it at all to anyone. Stay at home and cook or go elsewhere, it will be much better!! Yum! I've always been a fan of Cheddar's. Their food is good and they have great drinks too! My favorite dish to order is the Monte Cristo which is a batter coated ham and cheese sandwich btw gets fried, coated in powdered sugar and then you dip it in raspberry jelly. It's delicious! I had my doubts initially but it's my favorite thing and I recommend it to everyone! Service seems to always be fast. I like that this location is right on O street. I feel really bad writing a negative review, but two times in a row is two too many. I used to absolutely love Cheddars. However, since I no longer drive, I wasn't able to go. It has been years, so I was thrilled to see they now offer delivery. My first delivery was pretty good. Not as good as I remembered, but enjoyable. However, the second time was awful. The chicken fried steak had so much breading on it, that it was basically just breading with a thin 'steak'... and it was absolutely tasteless. Mashed potatoes are my absolute favorite, however these were so salty, I couldn't even eat them. The corn was hard and looked like it was days old. I also ordered fries because I was excited to have Cheddars again and got a total of 11 fries, and that's counting the half ones, and they were ice cold. It was so disappointing that I actually emailed Cheddars, which I have never done anywhere. They were very quick to respond and gave me a very generous gift card. So, fast forward two weeks and I make another order with the gift card. I was afraid to order the chicken fried steak again, so I got the meatloaf and it was absolutely awful. It looked like two day old can cat food. No ketchup glaze. It was extremely dry, loaded with mostly peppers and tasted really funny. I didn't even eat the second slice. Mashed potatoes were again too salty and corn, again, hard and old. Fast forward a few hours and I started getting terrible stomach cramps and ended up with food poisoning. I don't know what happened to Cheddars. It used to be so good, but I will not even be using the remainder of my gift card. Almost 48 hours later, and my stomach is still a mess. read more

This is where the excitement ended so sorry to say. We waited over an hour for our mediocre food to arrive. I ordered the Philly Cheese Steak and knew I was in trouble when the sandwich was served with fake white cheese and mushrooms that a lazy cook served whole without slicing. The kicker tho was when my lady ordered a salad with oil and vinegar and when our meals were delivered, server says I've got bad news we're out of oil. Shitty service and shitty food. I ordered two appetizers (onion rings and chips and salsa). We got there about 8:00 and was immediately seated. I ordered the sirloin and chicken and all was good. Everything was good just wish all our meals came out at the same time. My son his girlfriend and I were served but had to wait about 8 minutes before my wife and two daughters were served. I always want my daughters who are the youngest to be served first as they both eat so slow. Otherwise all was good. Last night December 9th We went to Cheddars, only my second time . My coworker and I came here for lunch the other day and my first impression was of the atmosphere which is nicely decorated, low lit, and cool inside. There is a beautiful fish tank on one wall and I really enjoyed the overall surroundings. Our server was very nice and while she didn't seem to know a lot about what was gluten free she was more than willing to ask for me, which I thought was really nice of her. They did have a gluten free menu but it does look a bit haphazard, it was a piece of paper printed out with additional items scribbled on the sides. So I was pretty sure it was a work in progress, but it was amazing that they even had one. I ordered a strawberry lemonade which was good and a side salad with balsamic vinaigrette to start. The salad was also good with tomatoes and fresh lettuce. My coworker had a side salad with blue cheese dressing and the onion rings, he said both were very good. For the entrees my coworker ordered the Monte Cristo sandwich, and he loved it. I ordered the steak and shrimp, broccoli and a baked potato, gluten free of course. It did take a while for the entrees to come out but when they did my food was not gluten free, it had several items on the plate that specifically said not gluten free on their sheet. They took it back and said they would make me a new one. I really appreciated that the server came and apologized and even the manager came by and conveyed his apologies. Whenever food is mixed up I feel that few restaurants really make an effort to improve the dining experience for the customer unless the person makes a scene,which I did not, and the staff here really was very nice about it. Unfortunately the food not only took a very long time to come out again, my coworker was finished and we were then 30 mins late to get back, but when I got it I was very unimpressed with the flavor of the steak. I have to agree with other reviews on here that the food was not very good. The steak was flavorless and tough; however, it was cooked perfectly temperature wise. The broccoli was very good and cooked well and the potato also nicely done. The shrimp appeared to have been sitting in an oven for some time and were very overdone and bland as well. When we got the bill my coworker was pleased with the price of his meal which had been very affordable and portions were quite large that he took some home. Mine had been taken off entirely, which I also greatly appreciated. So in sum, the mix up of the food was really no big deal. The restaurant went above and beyond to remedy that. The food; however, was not something I will be craving regularly, but I would not be opposed to visiting again sometime and trying something else. read more

There is one thing I get here and the only thing I order every single time which is the Chicken pecan salad. I have had it with salmon as well. The salad is so great and the croissant that comes with it is so delicious, light buttery and flaky. I think that its the glazed pecans that totally set off this salad. The base of if it is a basic iceberg blend with carrots, then they add tomatoes, cheese and onions. I usually get it with honey mustard. This is just the best salad ever, and its huge for less than 10 bucks. I split it into two servings every time. The only reason that I am not giving them 5 stars is because I have had problems when placing my to go order, I call in ahead of time and still had to wait for a significant amount of time on several occasions. We waited over 90 minutes for our food to arrive at the table, blackened salmon was not blackened and was cold, ribs were dry and not even hot, hamburger was ice cold - so cold in fact that it couldn't even melt the cheese on it, alarms have been going off the entire time we have been here, waitress is almost totally nonexistent - can't get refills on basic drinks, two of us asked for ketchup, we got one small cup to share, fries were cold and mushy. I could go on, but this visit just drove the nail in the coffin for this restaurant for me. We need more family owned restaurants in Lincoln and less of these corporate owned places where people don't care. Employees rolling in after people are already being seated. Cheddars has a soft warm welcoming atmosphere. We were seated promptly, and the menu is fairly simple, I had the house salad with four side dishes. My husband had the chicken pot pie. Both were pretty tasty. The thing that kind of bothered me, though, was that there lots of crumbs, and stuff on the carpet. There was even a napkin on the floor, and I watched a waitress step on it while serving that table. Ate at Cheddar's Saturday for a late lunch around 3 pm. We were seated promptly. Service wasn't that great. Our waitress must have been having a bad day, or maybe just the wrong personality to wait tables. She barely spoke and didn't smile once. It was clear she didn't want to be there. We were given 4 sets of silverware for the 4 of us dining. 2 of them had dried food crusted on them. I get it, it happens sometimes. We asked for new ones, which were both also dirty. 3rd try we finally received silverware with no visual soil. We needed an extra plate with our meal and it also had a big crusty something or other right in the middle of it, anyone who even glanced at the plate would see it, yet it was still brought out to our table. Is the dishwasher broken? Do the people that roll silverware and serve food not pay attention to these things? Does the staff not care? That is absolutely unacceptable and should be addressed. But that is not all. The high chair we requested for my daughter felt sticky and gross so I grabbed a baby wipe to give it a quick once over before letting my daughter sit in it. The wipe was absolutely disgusting after just wiping around the top of the high chair. Obviously they don't get cleaned, which is completely unsanitary. The food? Meh. My older daughter and I shared chicken strips. They were average and I ate them.
