We had outstanding service for our first time at Cheddar's. She was welcoming and had great suggestions! We had a variety of entrees & sides: baked potato soup, fresh vegetables, loaded potatoes, green beans, buffalo chicken sandwich, etc. The skinny margarita was great. Good variety of beer & creative alcoholic drinks. Because we were a "first timer", we got awesome chocolate chip cookies at the end of the meal. We have been going here occasionally for the past year or so. Tonight was definitely the final nail in the coffin for us. I get it, a Saturday night is a little busier than most but after a 40 minute wait, our server never came back. Our appetizer was never brought out. We had to stop another waitress who went to check on our food, they brought food out, but it was cold like it had been sitting in back for some time. Our waiter then came and never apologized, but said it's Saturday night, "it is what it is. " I explained to him that I needed to speak with a manager. After waiting for him for another 7-10 min, then talking with him and how everything went down, he laughed at what the waiter said. He did apologize and said that's not how we train but that apology felt very empty with his demeanor. We left the cold food and crappy service and found someplace else. This is on my "Do not go back" list. Never. Ever. Ever. One of the single worst meals I've had in Lincoln. The cheesesteak was the worst one I've ever had, it was one of the worst sandwiches I've ever had. I've never seen a sandwich be this bad. First, the meat, was so overcooked it was rubber. I could have re-vulcanized my tires with it. Riot control police rubber bullets are easier to chew... sandwiches are suppose to be edible, and whatever meat this was, might as well have been made out of soles of old work boots... This sandwich was liquid. Seriously. It was a swishing, soggy, gushing plate of no-thank you. The bread was soaked to the point where I questioned if it was really bread, or if they ran out of bread and used an old sponge from their sink. It deteriorated in my hands as I tried to get it from plate to mouth. The gross squish and seeping of that bread dropped to the plate made this more of a soup than a sandwich. The mushrooms were the slimy, disgusting peak on this terrible sandwich. By far the worst place to eat. This place is so much below the three stars on Yelp. So much. Sub-par doesn't do it justice. I do whatever I can in my power to dissuade my family from taking me back here. One of the worst places to eat. Never have I had anything there that seemed edible. I took my family here for the very first time. We were here for dinner and boy were we hungry. We ordered our meals and they were okay, but not great. First of all, the pork ribs were very dry inside and lacked flavor. Ribs should be juicy and tasty and should melt in your mouth - not these ribs. I was suppose to get 2 side orders with my meal and only 1 showed up. The cook missed it and so did the waitress. I had to wait 20 minites before the waitress came back to ask how everything tasted (there were minimal customers in the restaurant). By the time I received my second side order 30 minutes passed by. The little shot glass desserts were extremely dry and lacked flavor (it was like eating sand)! The chicken was good and so was the grilled cheese. The prices seemed reasonable (If better food matched up with the price) but the food wasn't what we expected because it was so dry. I will come back one more time to see if Cheddars can redeem themselves based off of this bad first visit. The restaurant was nice and comfortable and is located in a great area. I give it 3 stars because I'm nice. I hope Cheddars takes this review seriously. read more

I am completely baffled by this place. I was repeatedly told how good the food was and how cheap it was. The food was bland, service was mediocre, terrible beer selection, mixed drinks have hardly any booze and the supposedly cheap food really isn't that cheap. Spend a few dollars more and you can eat at any number of similar local places and have a decent meal. Yet every time I drive by this place the parking lot is full regardless of the time of day. Have eaten there three times now. It's always very busy, day or night, weekend or weekday. Our party of 7 waited a little while, 5 min or so. Got seated at a clean table and chairs. Ordered my usual lemon water, others got a bar order, the kids, pop. All came right away and correct. I ordered Tilapia w/mango salsa, baked, beans, and salad. All were just delicious and hot. I asked around and both kids had more chicken strips and fries than they could eat(8&9yo). BBQ ribs were excellent another said. Granma had a bit of a problem handling the 5 inch high cheeseburger, lol, but loved it. No desert ordered. Everyone had a good meal, no complaints. Server was very courteous and running her butt off. She was popular with the kids. I've had their chicken strips and regular bone chicken, and I think it's their signature dish. Just right, juicy, crispy, and a lot to eat. Both dark and white meat were excellent. I took home some of mine last time. For an American type dinner meal, Cheddar's is my go to restaurant. read more

Time In: Friday night at 9:30pm Time Out: Friday night at 11:30 pm Pros: Ambiance, decor, professional waitstaff, extremely reasonably prices, fun fish tank in the middle of the wall, nice big cozy booths, and water/appetizer came out in timely manner. Cons: -45 minutes for drinks to come out -Bathrooms were despicable. Used paper towels were overflowing from the waste basket and kicked by waitstaff into the path that leads to the kitchen. Tip: get bigger trash can. -greater than 1 hour for food to come out. I didn't mind waiting for food, they seemed a bit busy. BUT I did expect for the food to be worth the wait. -Ribs were actually COLD! Oh my freakin goodness, my ribs were not luke warm, they were actually cold to the touch, like it had been pulled out of the refrigerator and plopped onto my plate. I waited a whole hour to be served 40 degree ribs? When I informed the waitress she was not surprised. She said the other table next to us complained of cold ribs too. WHAT? Someone else experienced the same thing and they still messed up? I really don't care that they just opened. I can understand some oopsies in the first few months, but I'm utterly disappointed by the food they expect their patrons to eat. Side note: The waitress said all staff were trained rigorously for 2 weeks prior to opening. The chain flew in people from other sites to provide proper education. Waitstaff were expected to be on time and professional, so people were sent home if their tie was on wrong or shirt was not ironed. Each employee was able to try all items on the menu. The waitress said their company knew how busy it would be in the opening months based on how well the other locations had done. "I can see my car from here" The hostess's response, was Yes and you can watch me as I break into it" most of the party took it in good just but seriously. The ribs I had were cold like they had sat prepared for at least 30 minutes before being plated and served. Great atmosphere, friendly service, awesome food, the wait staff works as a team and not as individuals so someone is always there to help without being overly helpful. The owner visited the tables. The huge fish tank that is two sided between two walls is beautiful, one side opens into the dining area and the other serves as a great backdrop to the bar. Very classy. Vegetarians beware! We didn't think to check the menu ahead because most regular sit-down places have at least a couple options. But when we asked about vegetarian food, our waitress sighed. Ruh-roh. She pointed out that the spaghetti lasagna (???) could be made vegetarian, but aside from that, the only option was the "vegetable plate." This vegetable plate is actually just a collection of sides...but when we went to order these, the first two were actually not vegetarian (cooked in bacon fat, includes sausage, etc). None of the soups or even entree salads are veg. This is too bad, because they have a pretty big menu. On the vegetarian plate, the black beans were actually pretty good, but the broccoli lacked salt and was mushy. Ended up being kind of a strange meal. There is a tackiness about this restaurant that is both irritating and loveable at the same time. That said, the food was decent for the price, the service was horrendous. Allow me to elaborate. Upon being greeted by our waitress, we were asked if we'd ever been here before and responded "no". She then grabbed the drink/dessert menu book off the table and started instructing us on how to read it and where to find what. "Did we really need to have that explained to us?", I asked my dining companion. So we ordered our food, I can't remember what he had but I ordered the Smokehouse Burger. It wasn't until a few minutes later, I was re-reading the menu and realized that none of the burgers automatically comes with a side such as fries - odd. So I stopped our waitress, asked for a side of fries with my burger, and she said that is fine, the fries may just come a few minutes after the burger. Alrighty. Two minutes later a different waiter brings my side of fries before any of the other food gets there, which happened about 5 minutes later. Again, the food itself was good for the price. Nothing special, nothing awful either. When the waitress brought us our tickets which we asked for separately, she handed us the wrong tickets and we ended up paying for each other's food. All in all, the staff seemed confused, as if everyone was running amok with no clear direction or organization. Went to an early dinner, before the crowd got in the door. The restaurant is beautiful and clean. Food was awesome. Chicken fried steak and chicken Alfredo, neither of us had to eat again that night, get the garden salad. It has everything you want on a salad including crumbled eggs. The server was great, she was busy with several large tables and didn't forget us one time. They also have the best sweet ice tea available in Lincoln. Interesting that the average rating is 3-Star, because that's exactly what I was going to give it. I'm a big fan of the Omaha Cheddar's, and assumed that Lincoln would be just as good- WRONG. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad- just not quite up to par with Omaha service-wise. I encouraged my sister-in-law to get my favorite drink, the Painkiller, but when it came out it was so heavily spiked with alcohol it was almost undrinkable. This IS a strong drink, and that's why I like it- but the ratio was definitely off. Our waitress was either new or just sort of clueless, she bumbled around and just seemed to set the whole dining experience off kilter with her timing. No one was checked for refills after the food was delivered (we were all empty), and she never did the complimentary check back, to see how our food was. I ordered a stand-by, the half rack of ribs and shrimp, and was pleased with everything. One of my dining partners had the same shrimp, and the rice it was bedded on was drowning in some Terriyaki-like sauce. As always, the house salad, honey butter croissants, and onion rings were awesome! I can't say enough about how tender the ribs always are as well. I'll definitely be back, but likely not to Lincoln. read more

Oh Cheddars. You have a great menu. I gave you two chances and you blew them both. First time, we were there and we started with the queso (added the free ground beef), good chips, good queso. I had the Cajun Pasta wtih shrimp, chicken and sausage. My mate had the fish tacos, which he said were really good. The pasta was good too - the shrimp tasty, the sausage pretty delish. As we were gushing over how good everything was, I noticed in my pasta what I thought was maybe a sausage skin or a tomato skin, but it was actually a piece of plastic about 2 1/2 inches long. Yuk. They did comp my pasta, but still. Went back a second time. My mate had the chicken tender basket and again his entree was really good. I ordered the chicken fired steak. First thing I noticed was the breading fell off too easily. Then I saw that the meat inside was rare, not cooked. By the time I got a replacement, my friend was finished eating. The steak itself was tough. Not good. I cannot recommend this place at all, they have a lot of problems in their kitchen, despite a good menu, good prices, they cannot execute. Too bad. read more

I can't actually speak for the food here because I didn't even make it to the door before I refuse to ever give this place my money! I had some checks stolen out of my wallet and one was written here. Not only did their wait staff take a single prewrittwn check with no ID for close to $250, but after I stopped payment on the check for fraud they started collections as if I had written a bad check. Several calls to their general manager and copies of the police report and bank papers yielded no results. I actually had to close my checking account after about 6 or 7 instances of them using various collection companies to take money out and I would have to contact my bank to reverse it. I would never go back. My boyfriend and I wanted to go to Olive Garden but there was an hour wait. So we decided to try out cheddars. And boy, was it the worst place I have ever been. We got our food but we have no silverware. I was okay with it, because I was hungry. I was really cold because of the big hecking fan. Loved it as an art piece, but other than that no. When we got our silverware after asking for some, my spoon had some weird crust on it. I ordered some ribs and they were super dry so I just ate the corn and broccoli. Cheddars is great. I stopped in here with my grandparents while visiting Lincoln and I really liked it. I got this sandwich thing, I can't really remember the name of it right now. It was so good. They give you more than enough food. The portions here are huge and there are always leftovers. Our server was really nice, he always came back to check on us. He chatted with us a little while, he was very friendly. Cheddars is a great place to go, but not when it's busy. It can get packed, as does the cheddars back home. I love Cheddars. I always get the blacked white fish since the pandemic began, I have avoided restaurants. I finally decided to splurge and go to Cheddar's for lunch. They have done away the "lighter fare" options, so I had no choice but to order the dinner portion which is twice as much food then I can eat, and is more expensive. Not sure that is sound business stategy, when people are struggling financially more than ever now. The service was disappointing. I requested water several times, and got it about half way through my meal. I asked my waitress for salt and pepper, and she never cam back. I finally grabbed a Manager and in about another 10 minutes, after my food was cold, I got it. I finally asked for a box, scrapped my lunch in it and took it home so I could reheat it. Our experience at this restaurant was not the best one. It was very crowded and noisy. We called in a take-out order and arrived in the time the staff stated the food would be ready. After arriving, were told it still wasn't prepared. Twenty minutes later after having to chase down a waitress to get our order, were told to "go help yourself" when my wife asked the waitress to check to make sure the order was correct.
