Absolutely love Cheddars. I have never had a bad experience here. Went just the other day for lunch and got the mushroom and Swiss burger. Very very good and well crafted. The portion was more than enough but not overwhelming and was reasonably priced. A lot of attention was put into crafting the burger and it was fantastic. Just ordered for lunch from work with three other guys and had an episode with the menu change when they change the name to scratch kitchen and they said the menu would change their prices went up their salads with a meal is $3.29 and for their chicken basket it changed to the chicken tender sampler so you can't get fries no more and then they charge you for fries so in other words if you just add fries to the appetizer chicken you're paying the same price as the full meal that gets two sides I'm very disappointed in this place because of every meal that you get you're going to have to add a salad for $3.29 or fries It hope people pay attention to there bills when they get it because the bills are going to be a lot higher that's outrageous!!! read more

Yuck yuck and yuck. Everytime I go here with my parents, the service is slow, they often forget to turn in your app orders and the food just seems to be stuff they microwave. Cannot be any real cooking going on here. I gag everytime my mom mentions this places name. read more

For a chain restaurant I was pretty impressed with the food. I came here craving some southern fried food but the fish tacos were just to tempting. It ended up being the best decision cause they were so good. There was more than an ample amount of fish and the sauce was delish. Great restaurant. Wide variety of food. Monte Cristo is great! Steaks are better than the steak houses in Johnson City. Spinach dip is a must. Don't plan on taking a large group. Yea, I have been eating here for years now...maybe 3 or 4 times a month. All I can say is that it's rarely a disappointment. This is one place you can depend on to provide a great meal at a fair price. The menu is a bit restricted but that's what yields the perfection... the cooking staff has this stuff down pat....love their blackened salmon with red beans and rice with a large portion of mashed potatoes...yummm ...PS order the spinach dip with chips as your appetizer! My husband and I ate there for lunch earlier this month and loved it. The service was pretty good (our waiter was Dustin) and even though he'd been there for 4 years we were the first table he'd ever served a bottle of wine to. People in Johnson City just don't enjoy wine as much as we do here in CA I guess. We split the spinach dip as an appetizer. It was almost too creamy for me but DH loved it. The lunch special was a caramelized pear salad and it was really good. Very refreshing and great flavors. As it turns out we were supposed to get grilled chicken on it and Dustin brought the chicken separately 1/2 way through the course. The chicken was perfectly cooked but the large crystals of sea salt were a definite turn off. The salad had the perfect amount of dressing and the presentation was lovely! We also split the chicken dijon. DH loved it although he said it had more honey than a dijon flavor for him. I thought the dijon was too over powering and will not order it again. Again, he chicken was tender and juicy and the mushrooms were firm. Even though the mushrooms were plain old button mushrooms (I think criminni or portabello mushrooms would have been better) they were fresh. Over all ... all ingredients were fresh, presentation was beautiful, decorating was comfortable and new. Everything was clean (including the restrooms). We will eat there again. Unfortunatley, they do not take reservations and the parking lot fills up quickly (so eat dinner early or later). read more

I absolutely love Cheddars and it is a family fav for us. However, today Cheddars really disappointed us. We waited over an hour and a half for our food today. It was really poorly taken care and I was disappointed of how they treated us after we had waited so long. I went to the hairdresser after telling her what happened and she said this is a common thing at this Cheddar's!! Also the staff at Cheddars told us we were the third order they lost today. The vegetarian patty they offer for their burgers is actually really good - I've been to some places where that option left a heck of a lot to be desired. I have been here a million times and this is the first time I have experienced such poor service. Our party of 3 was seated in a booth in the bar area. There weren't too many people there when we were seated. We noticed 3 servers standing by the bar chatting with the bartender for several minutes, one of them served us. It seemed to take longer than usual to get our food, even though we ordered off the lunch menu (soup, salad, sandwich) our server never smiled, actually none of the servers were smiling or had much personality at all. I came there tonight with my husband and cousin. I almost always get the lemon-pepper chicken because of the delicious rice with vegetables and onions. I always get an extra serving of rice for my second side but the right tonight was terrible! It was a bland, very distasteful rice! I was soooo disappointed! I could not eat it at all!!!! - So disgusting! The chicken wasn't all that good either. This place is absolutely dreadful. The first and only time I went there I ordered a grilled chicken with broccoli casserole and side carrots, and it literally arrived 4 minutes after I ordered. It came so fast it was obvious my food was nothing more than a pre-cooked industrial disgrace re-heated in a microwave and served to me with no effort on presentation. From the little I tasted of the chicken, it was bland and chewy. Then I ordered a margarita and that was also tasteless and boring and loaded with ice up to the rim. It was nothing more than a watered down lemonade with a hint of liquor-store margarita mix. I will never frequent any more Cheddar's and do not recommend this chain to anyone. And i don't care that it's affordable, it's not worth risking my health and if i want microwaved processed food for dinner, I can buy it myself at the frozen food section of the supermarket. We frequent this location. The food has always been great, especially the hamburgers. Last week we ate a hamburger and it was totally bland and unrecognizable. Cheddars was sold to a new owner recently and I wonder if that's the reason the taste of the hamburger has changed. We may be looking for a new favorite restaurant if this continues. read more

Cheddars USED to be one of my favorite restaurants, but no more. Took family there this evening, with the following results: service was adequate (no more attention than necessary), a rare steak ordered came as medium, mac & cheese was cold, broccoli was cold, the requested well done hamburger was rare, and the bbq chicken was actually two thighs and drumsticks on which the bbq was pretty much only on the skin, which was pretty greasy. In addition, their new menu (since last time I was there) was cut drastically, removing many of my favorites, along with higher prices. Needless to say, Cheddars is no longer on my list of restaurants to go to. I was very disappointed. read more

Very nice family restaurant with good food, large portions, friendly waitstaff and inexpensive prices. You"ll find items like a yummy chicken ceasar pasta salad, really good fried shrimp, chicken pot pie, burgers and many other choices - great spinach dip. I've never had enough room to try their desserts. Only negative is that it can be noisy so be prepared to talk loudly if it's crowded, which it usually is. read more

i agree with steve here, its the bargain bin of restaurants. it's pretty good food for the price but, here's the kicker: if cheddar's didn't offer low prices, or raised their price point to the level of outback or other competition, they would run themselves out of business. period. So they take care of their vegetarian customers, AWESOME! So will a whole lot of places! This used to be a REALLy great place to eat but has went way downhill. On Sun we went for lunch. The waiter was really rude and horrible at his job. When we ordered our drinks the guy totally ignored my son and then ignored my sister when she was going to order spinach dip he walked off. 15 min to get the drinks. When he took our orders he ignored my son AGAIN! i ordered the pick two combo and he brought my soup with everyone's salads. Obvioulsy it got cold by the time the rest of the food got there. It was also NASTY and tasted like canned soup, not fresh made. My dad tatsed it and agreed. He didnt bring us our app or our food, another waiter did. He never checked to see if we needed drinks, and when he finally came to see if we did need anything it was 10 min b4 he came back and then he didnt have half of what we had asked for! This is almost as bad as the time a waiter there threatened to duct tape my son to the high chair 2 yrs ago (yes we called a manager!). This place is def off my fav list!!!!! read more

The chicken fried chicken I had here was excellent, some of the best I've had. The drinks are sub par, especially the margaritas.

My family and I absolutely love chedders! Tho they live out of town and have a chedders in the town where they live, they say this is the best place to eat. We were looking for somewhere "different" to go and Cheddar's always has a line of cars that goes down the length of 3 businesses so we thought why not. We were 17 in line, waited about 25 minutes, the number of people coming to get those little boxes was unreal. Really nice decor and it was clean, the blinds were clean, the window ledges, all the wood shined (I look for stuff like that). Most of the wait staff appeared to be middle eastern, dressed extremely nice. I don't expect much, if an order is going to be screwed up, it will be mine. Brian got the tortilla chips with a cheese meat sauce and salsa (my fav) and I tasted it after much urging and it was extremely good, burned but good. Bob got the chicken fried steak - really people - you didn't have to bring the entire chicken! He said the broccoli casserole was great. Brian had lemon chicken, real mashed taters with skin, and a red beans and rice with tiny weiners that he said was extremely hot. I couldn't decide to tried the 3 cheese honey BBQ burger and fries. It had some spices and diced onions on it and it was fantastic. It was more of a steak cut, not ground beef at all. Couldn't finish half of it or the fries, which were good as well. Several flavors of iced tea, huge margueritas (didn't get one since alcohol turns to sugar very fast). The big thing was it was very inexpensive for a sit-down restaurant, 38.00 and that's with the tea being 4.00 a glass for an endless glass. Amazing prices. If there's one near you, check it out. We know we'll go back in about a month, next to try, shepherd's pie. read more
