Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen has great quality food, fast service, and very reasonable prices. With so many restaurants popping up in the Town Center area I was excited to see Cheddar's joining the crowd and not sure why it took me so long to enjoy a meal here. Having visited Cheddar's in other cities, I was familiar with the casual dining restaurant offering menu items a couple of steps above most. With so many choices I was torn between the salads, sandwiches, and entree options so we started with an appetizer while I contemplated my many options. With a name like Cheddar's we figured we should try some cheese. The Wisconsin cheese bites were absolutely perfect. Like fried cheese curds, light and fluffy, melty cheese bites encased in a crunchy breading, with a nice chunky marinara sauce for dipping. So mouthwatering delicious, and a plentiful portion perfect for sharing with the table. I recalled the cheese burgers being good and the one my guest had for lunch today was juicy, cooked just right and beautifully seasoned. While usually I consider chicken fingers a kids menu item, I heard they were good at Cheddar's so I opted for this entree option. Even bordering on full from the cheese bites, I could barely contain my joy when my plate arrived. The huge pile of fresh, hot, golden, crispy, chicken fingers that was laid in front of me was incredibly impressive. There is a new favorite chicken finger in town - I dare anyone to find any better than here and am convinced it cannot be done. When I asked how hot the hot honey sauce was, the server suggested bringing it on the side. I also got the honey mustard and the buffalo sauce so I could try all the dips. The hot honey is super hot, the buffalo is spicy but tolerable for us wimps, and the honey mustard was just right. I could only eat two of the fingers and I had at least five left over to bring home. I loved that the server asked and allowed me to swap out both the sides of fries and coleslaw that are normally included with the chicken. I tried the broccoli cheese casserole and the green beans. The beans were good, but the casserole stole the side show with plenty of the rich cheese melted on top. Also sampled at our table included the baked potato soup, which actually tastes like a loaded baked potato, perfect for a chilly day outside, and the Cesar salad which was fresh and tasty. Another guest had the shrimp alfredo and thought the shrimp was good, but the carrots and sauce in the pasta were rather bland. Looking around at nearby tables I spotted a huge entree salad I had considered ordering, but since they are usually too much to finish and do not keep as left overs well I passed. While it looked beautiful I could not have been happier with my choice so no food envy today. So, perhaps next time I'll just go with the best-in-town chicken fingers again and upgrade a side to a smaller salad to made my own chicken finger topped salad appropriately sized for one. The atmosphere at lunch was busy and service was quick but we did not feel rushed. The restaurant itself for being rather large still has a quaint, fun filled atmosphere and we cannot wait to go back again. read more
