Cheddars has such a home style, southern vibe but it's very covid friendly. In fact no one can wait at the front. Also.. the staff is very respectful and reliable. This was our first time dining here and unfortunately, I'm certain it will be our last. While we had an absolutely delightful waitress, her repeated apologies for the delay on our appetizer, and then a 30+ minute wait on our lunches, got very old to keep hearing. The appetizer was the chips and salsa; would not recommend especially for the price. My wife had a basic cheeseburger and I had the roasted chicken. No complaints on the hamburger, but the chicken was very dry and obviously had been under a heating lamp for sometime. We passed on desert, but learned that the reason everything was so slow coming out of the kitchen was they were serving a party of 50 elsewhere in the restaurant and things were held up until they could get their meals all out. I really would have appreciated a warning before we placed our order. More importantly, why didn't someone from management come talk to us instead of making the waitress constantly apologize? read more

The service at this place is terrible, it comes from the top management. They did not text us when the table was ready, the waiters just disappear, not friendly and you have to ask them for everything. We were looking forward to the opening because we enjoyed the one in Newport News Virginia. This place has been a disappointment each time we have been there. Carry out is not bad, just have to check your food, they have the best potato soup, will order to go. Staff needs more training in hospitality. What makes it so bad is the manager and employees don't care. They are forgetting who pays their salary. We are done with this place. read more

Just ate a side salad with their Ginger Lime dressing and dang that was gooood! Hubby had the Caesar salad and said it was amazing too. This is probably our fifth time dining here for dinner and it is consistently a great experience. We always eat at the bar, so I can't speak to the wait staff. The staff at the bar is always attentive yet not overly so. They are super busy. The beer is cold and the food is hot. I've tried several different items on the menu and I like them all for different reasons. Their salads are great! Homemade dressings and super fresh veggies. Hubby likes their ribs so much he ordered them again tonight. Good flavor, meat falls off the bone they are so tender. I got the coconut shrimp tonight and they were goooood! Our first time at this place tonight. Other than the hostess telling us it would be a 20-25 minute wait, ended up being 35-40, everything was great. Was a little unsure w reading the other review but we decided to give cheddars a try on a Sunday afternoon. We were seated and served right away. The croissants were so yummy! Side salad was better than most places with reading on side as requested. Bacon Cheese burger was HUGE and completely devoured by our teen. Pot pie and the chicken shrimp rice dish were very good. First the kids ordered chocolate milk that tasted like dish detergent, forgivable BUT we weren't able to complain and request replacement drinks until our food came. Since it was a hot day most of our beverages had been consumed by the thirsty children by the time they got replacements. Then the ribs were cold, like refrigerator cold and the baked potato was tepid at best (hint cheese & butter don't melt). But we never got to explain that to the waitress who never once came back and checked on us. The kids wanted desert, we wanted drinks, the manager passed by 5-6 times never noticed my frailing arms, the waitress never returned. So I returned the favor with a 0% gratuity and I'll take their lead and never return. read more

My family and I love this place. The house made croissants were some of the best I've ever eaten. I always order more to enjoy. We have eaten at Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen twice - once for dine-in while social distancing and second occasion was take-out. Both times my husband had the New Orleans Pasta. He loved it and so did my niece when we ordered take-out. I had the chicken pot pie at my first visit. It was delicious, chicken was juicy, flavorful, and came in a large portion. The second time around I had the Country Fried Chicken with red beans and rice and broccoli cheese casserole. Everything was cooked perfectly. First time here. We sat in the first corner booth in the bar on the right. It is a round booth with a rectangle table. That's the first strike for me. Next we received two complimentary honey butter croissants. Very tasty and very sticking on your hands causing you to want to lick your fingers. In a COVID environment that's not good. This should be served with wipes. Second strike. Lastly the New Orleans Pasta came with shrimp that had the hard tail shell still attached. No one wants to dig through their pasta for the shrimp tail while eating. This pasta should have shrimp that has no tails. Third strike. The burgers were cooked WELL DONE (very dry) and the cheese on the burgers was not melted and was translucent. It seems like the burgers had been sitting for quite a while. The rack of ribs were burnt. I would not recommend getting your food to go. Maybe you would get better results eating inside and then you could send your food back when is not cooked the way it reads on the menu. read more

Have been twice. Today I ordered a Monte Cristo. I do not recommend this menu item. It says it is deep fried to crispy outside but it was microwaved, was not at all crispy or hot. It was like loaf bread. My husbands Cajun pasta was good. The drinks are good too. I will probably go back but will not ever order The Monte Cristo again. What a let down! We have seen this Resturant being build and looked forward to the day it would open to have a "good eats" experience. It was not!! Mixed drinks were good "painkiller" but the food was way over cooked. I had the ribs with fries and broccoli. The ribs were so dried and overcooked could hardly chew them. The chips were ok, but the cheese dip was petty much runny cheese and the salsa could be purchased at any grocery store, nothing scratch there. My husband had the grilled chicken penne and it to was nothing to write home about. Resturant was clean and Cassey was bubbly and sweet but the star of the show was supposed to be the food. We had a great family dinner here tonight. My husband and kids absolutely loved the honey-butter croissants that were served shortly after being seated. After a long drive, everyone was starving, so it was perfect! The chips with salsa and queso were a fresh and yummy starter. We ordered beer battered chicken strips that were crunchy and tender; bourbon glazed salmon and rice that was fresh and flavorful; and a monte cristo made with high quality turkey and ham (I'm picky about sliced meats) and was the perfect balance of savory and sweet. Our server, Devin, was personable, patient, polite and very helpful. The prices were surprisingly reasonable, so much so we let the kids order a fudge cake with ice cream for dessert. They didn't finish the cake and were hesitant to bring leftovers home, but Devin brought a take-home container because "no one should leave cake behind". :) The atmosphere was cozy and comfortable. I wish we lived closer to visit more often, but this location is well worth the drive from Richmond, and we'll definitely be back. read more

I have been looking forward to coming here with my family since it opened. Unfortunately this is probably the first and last visit. The server was absolutely horrible. Clearly my family and I were a burden to her. We ordered appetizers, they got delivered by others and she not once came to check on us. She finally came back 30 minutes later and we were able to order. When we ordered we asked for drink refills when she had a chance. That never happened. Fortunately we had a water bottle in our purse which we refilled our drink glasses with. I ordered the Monte Cristo which was not my favorite but I asked for ranch to see if that would make it taste better. Well by the time she brought the ranch my food was cold and all she did was drop off the ranch and a to go box. She said absolutely nothing to us. She never even asked or noticed that I only too one bite of my food. The to go box she left was not big enough for the food on my plate so I had to go to the bar and ask for another box. Needless to say the series of events, the lack of service and the poor attitude of the server is very disappointing and quite frankly makes us not want to come back. On a positive note the hostess was very nice and helpful. I have never been so disappointed or felt like such a burden to a server before. Such a disappointing experience. read more
