An over-abundance of food does not make you forget if that food is just - blah. I had an appetizer sized order of chicken fingers and fries that would have fed a family of four. They were OK. Not the best ever, not the worst. Everyone else had the same feeling about their enormous platters of food. Like many chain restaurants, this place is just too much... the bread is good though. Whoa, I am puzzled! After hearing great things about this restaurant, I was deeply saddened because unfortunately I was not impressed at all. They haven't totally lost me because I have not tried everything on their menu yet and I went during lunch time (sometimes that makes a difference). However, this establishment should do better on their healthy options because being healthy and making a more health conscious choice doesn't always equate to eating a salad or veggie plate. Anyways, I ordered the salmon, which is priced well, but was not flavorful. The salmon sat on a bed of white rice, then two sides of my choosing. The meal was bland and healthy doesn't have to mean bland or boring. Having a great meal doesn't always have to equal fried or slathered in bbq sauce. I literally wanted some country healthy option and it was not an option here. No worries, I will be back to try something more southern and saucy when I am off my healthy kick. read more

This was my first time eating here, we came around lunch time. We wer seated quickly and given prompt service. The time between our drinks, apps, and meal was very good. I didn't feel like the food was being shoved at me with an implicit "eat and leave". The food was done very well, and presentation was great. Taste ess also very good. The fries that came with my Philly wer very lack luster. Very plain and forget able, which is sad when a little seasoning turns fries into signature fries. Maybe this will change in the future. But over all the whole experience was pleasent, the waiter the very polite and patient with how busy they were. I am curious how the event would have turn out if I had shown up an hour later, because as we were leaving they had a line to the door. I'd eat here again. The atmosphere in Cheddar's was pretty nice - I enjoyed looking at some of the neat features like a fan made with these giant straw-like blades. The kids enjoyed checking out the aquarium that held a variety of fish. There are a number of TVs for those wanting to watch whatever the big game is. Bathrooms were clean, and there was plentiful parking. Food-wise, the menu is quite large. Based on reactions from those in my group, I'd say the favorites were certainly any of the comfort foods or Southern favorites, like the chicken and waffles. (Basically, everyone who got something fried enjoyed their dish - ha!). Those who tried lighter dishes (soup, salad) were not as wow'ed. So if you're in the mood for some comfort food, this might be a good place to check out. I was surprised and impressed to find that they have a nicely-sized gluten free menu available upon request. Service was only so-so. On one hand, when a side dish came out incorrectly, our server was quick to get the correct one out. But then when we were waiting on to-go boxes and the check, we had to call her over from the nearby TV. Don't get me wrong - it's one thing to glance at the TV and check the score. The food---well that is a unbelievable story. I had eaten in Cheddar's many times in home town Houston, TX. Their was six at our table. Four others ordered Grilled Tender Chickens. The "tenders" were still almost frozen hard and one asked for a sharp knife. Even with this :knife the tender was hard to cut. The four people could just cut a small end part and left the rest. REASON--The "tender" was overly bearded and the "tender" was only cooked on the outside which was brown. They cooked the "tenders" on the basis of the bearded which would have been O.K. if the "tender" was not just about frozen. It appears the kitchen did not get the information of our group . Thought I would go to a restaurant with a familiar name but was highly disappointed with what I found. Restaurant was not busy but had to get hostess' attention to be seated and then was put in a booth with debris/garbage piled up next to it. Took server a little while to get to me but ordered appetizer which was good. When I ordered entree, was told that they were out of mashed potatoes (at a comfort food place?!). Then ordered pasta and tried to eat but staff members that obviously did not have enough to do were YELLING across restaurant as well as everyone in kitchen were banging every pot and pan they could apparently including dropping a whole stack of trays. Now, I've been here before and dined on the delicious chicken fingers. But, this time I wanted to try one of their lighter menus options so I ordered the Sweet Heat Chicken and Shrimp and I was blown away by the flavor! The strip was tender and the chicken had a nice grill char flavor that gave me 4th of July vibes!! This was all accompanied by seasoned rice and a garden salad. I would have given this place a one star if it weren't for our kind server. The booth we were sat in was pretty filthy and to no surprise when we unwrapped our silverware it was filthy as well. Like it got ran through a broken dishwasher. I get excited when I hear scratch kitchen but this place is far from it. I ordered the Caesar salad with blackened salmon and boy was that a mistake. It smelled god awful as soon as it came out. I was very disassociated with the over dressed soggy and now smelly lettuce. I don't like to complain and I always tip well. This was the second time we tried this place. The first time is was awful and I thought was the worst Cheddar's that we went to. I was wrong. This trip was worse then the first time. Got seated, not busy even with the reduced seating. 10 minutes before server came to even get our drink order. Excuse was she was rolling silverware in the back. Gave her our order and it all came out at once. Salad and entrees. Poor server again on her part. Drink order and refills that was a joke. She brought unsweet back instead of sweet tea and saw my Coke empty and never brought one out or asked me if I wanted one. The pepper shaker she gave us was empty and the glass of water she brought out to us was under her armpit before she served it to us. So far not good on the servers part but she said " I always try to give great service to all of my tables, and that she was sorry". So she felt like that was all going to make it better. I ordered the Spicy Cajun Pasta and my wife order the chicken pot pie. The pot pie was good, just needed some of that empty pepper shaker, lol. The spicy Cajun pasta was sweet, nothing Cajun or spicy on it. I told my wife I wish I brought some Tony Seasoning with me so I could make it both spicy and Cajun. . So the second trip wasn't better then the last trip but it is going to be the LAST TRIP PERIOD. We went tonight and ordered 2 meals for dine in. The food was just ok. Not a typical Cheddar's experience. We then ordered 3 to-go orders for family back at the hotel. We had to wait a longer than expected time to receive the food with no update from our server. She finally came out to ask us to change the side on one of the orders because baked potatoes would be another 25 minutes. Once we got our orders we were getting up from the table only to hear and see that baked potatoes were now ready and being delivered to several tables. This was within 5 minutes of being told it would be 25 minutes. We got back to the hotel to find NO fork, knife, spoon, or napkin and very overcooked food with no seasoning. Our sons burger is hard as a rock and might as well be charcoal. On top of that, there was no ketchup for him, which we specifically requested. Devastating for a 4 year old... I hadn't been here in about a year and came today to find out management changed. They are now owned by Darden. The menu now has excellent variety. I was in a lighter/healthy mood and could not decide between 5 items on the menu... I usually struggle to find just one. I ended up getting the salmon with a side salad and baked sweet potato. The salmon was cooked perfectly. My husband ordered a club sandwich with a loaded baked potato. He loved it. Haley was our server and she did an amazing job making sure we got just what we wanted. I have never been to Cheddar's but I have heard great things about the food. I had traveled all day and saw there a Cheddar's across from our hotel, so we timed a curb-side order to be done when we arrived at the exit. We order curbside because we have young children, also I am a disabled veteran,in addition. I have an arm injury so I cannot lift anything, we order 3 meals with drinks and sides. We checked at 9:00 pm with was our scheduled time. After put in that we were at spot 3, the app said we were checked in. 9:10 pm nothing, about 9:15 I go inside to used the bathroom because we are trying to get to our hotel room. On the way to bathroom I see our order just sitting on a table, so after leaving the restroom I flag down a server, and told him my order never was delivered, he said talk to bartender and they would get the order together, guess what the bartender was not there, so I tell a hostess she says you have to wait for a server. Getting frustrated I see another server and tell him what's going on he grabs the food and brings it to the bar. Remember this was a curbside order, I am injured and really shouldn't be carrying anything, I asked can I go out the side door , which is next to the curbside parking,( mind you I only asked because sometimes there are alarms on certain doors) This guy side, "I would rather you go out the the front entrance, I have customers over there, "Like I'm Not A Customer!" I thought. To Be Honest that really was offended me, because what did that mean? I was dressed at the same level or above as everyone else and am a tall P.O.C. Anyways,I told him well in that case you bring it out like you are supposed to. So finally, around 5 mins later he brought it out, at approximately 9:30pm. Cheddar's food is not original or particularly daring. It's just cheap, standard chain restaurant fare. While I'm tempted to give it 4 stars based on the fact that I eat here fairly often, am pleased with the modest cost, and always leave stuffed, the truth is that these are the kind of places that are eroding American culinary culture while expanding our waistlines. Enough of my ideological tangent. I've got to recommend the Monte Cristo sandwich for anyone who doesn't mind sweet flavors mingling with the savory. Roast turkey, ham and two cheeses are piled a top two slices of bread, which is then battered and deep fried and served with raspberry preserves. This decadent sandwich is so huge I don't honestly know how one human could eat this in one sitting. Split it with a friend and round out the meal with a salad or soup so you won't have to unbutton your pants in public. read more

The place: Very bar and grill style, w/o the wal-mart feel of an applebee's or Friday's. It has a regular dining room as well as a bar area w/ TVs. The food: Standard American w/ some fun additions. Most of their items are made from scratch...soups, pot pies, spinach dip, their chicken tenders are hand breaded...and AWESOME! Some of my favorite things on the menu are...chicken caesar pasta salad, chicken tenders (which I NEVER order anywhere else), ribs, spinach dip, world class bacon cheeseburger, and onion rings. The price: very affordable! A great place to go out w/o spending a ton. The service: sometimes slow when they get really busy (which they do) but always friendly.
