We went there around 8:00 pm and had about a 20 min wait on a Fri. Night. Food was good. The waitstaff was not. Empty drinks were not filled until we asked. Dirty dishes stayed on the table even when dessert was ordered. A waiter had dropped a tray in the hall by the bathrooms and the floor was slippery an hour after. I think the management needs to train the waitstaff a little more on customer service and the place will be good. read more

Went in on Valentine's Day. Not too bad of a wait for the holiday. The only thing bad was the food. They used to have great onion rings. These were tasteless,greasy globs. They give you a huge portion of these, but tiny side portions with your meal. I had chicken fried steak breading, very little beef underneath it. This used to be a bargain for good comfort food. This is our Sunday after church restaurant. We usually split one entree, and then get a vegetable plate as well. The vegetables are great -especially the black beans and broccoli cheese casserole. The entrees we like best are chicken fried chicken, grilled salmon, chicken strips, and the Monte Cristo sandwick with raspberry sauce. This was terrible. The review live up to what they say. We arrived at the restaurant at 7:10pm, our waiter took forever to get our order. At the same time another party of 4 seats rights across us. 30 mins go by a party of 8 arrives and seats near by. It's 8:38 when our food finally arrived. So I just want to say it's been over 5 years since I've been to this location, and seriously it's still has the same mediocre food it did last time I was here. Now the reason I'm updating my review is that I was shocked at the customer service. She was a typical waiter who was rush full, and nothing more. Well when she asked if I wanted another tea I politely said yes, which then I asked if I could get one to go, since it took forever for her to bring me a refill. Well the nerve of this lady she finally came back with our to go boxes, and said it so sarcastically as if it brought her joy to crush my drink dreams. She told me they didn't have any to go cups. Now, the way she said it made me question her, but when I went to the restroom I saw a man holding a to go cup with his to go meal. That being said she ruined the whole experience, and therefore my night time dining experience was ruined. So there you have it that's the "tea" as they say. No Cheese at Cheddars... but don't let them eat cake! Saturday night 2/3/18 after church we stopped in to get a Veggie platter and a burger around 7:45 PM. The line was out the door but since it was just two we got a small both in the bar right away! We know our favorites so we ordered quickly during our drink order. Salads came out pretty quick and were yummy. Drinks topped off regularly. But an hour later...yes almost 9 PM, no food! Asked a passing waiter about it he assured us he would tell the blond in the pony tail who took our order. Watched him for about 5 minutes moving around the bar and though he passed by her on the other side 3 times, he did not help us at all. We finally caught her attention and said it seemed to be taking forever. She agreed with no apology or explanation. The meals arrived by a server and they were wrong. Another ten minutes before we could get help. Told that the reason there was no cheese on the sweet potato, "Sorry the kitchen is just out of cheese." Ask for the manager. No luck. 5 minutes later ask again. "Oh you want him Now?" Manager very polite assures us there is NOTHING they are out of in the kitchen tonight. They have many lbs of cheese. He offers to correct the orders and comp our meals. And he does. Returning from a rest room stop while we wait, I pass the bar where two staffers are talking about "that table". Dirty looks and all. Partner orders a dessert. We are told the meal was "comped" but she will order the dessert. Implying that we would pay for anything else. OK. Another 8 minutes later.... " Sorry, we are out of cake." We left, lost the entire evening and a bad taste in our mouth coming out the door of Cheddars, Barker Cypress and 290. Now we have dined at several Cheddar's many times around town. And the food and service is always supurb. I tend to prefer to write good news reports. So I am not knocking the place in general. But this was totally rude uncaring and unacceptable service that needs to be noted. read more

Usually I love Cheddars and the food and service is good, but, yesterday myself and boyfriend went there for dinner (location on 290 & Barker Cypress) not only was the service terrible but the food was room temp at best. Our Server (Darnell) was not very friendly and in fact acted like he didn't want to be there, he never once asked us if we needed refills on drinks and the drinks sat there with only ice in them. He never did a check back to see if everything was ok and was very slow at getting us our food, check etc. We waited 40 mins for our food only to receive it room temp that's when I finally asked for a Mgr to complain about the service and food. He was very nice and helped in correcting the problem he sent our food back to the kitchen and had new orders made (which came out perfect)!!! he also gave us over 15 dollars off our bill which was very nice of him to do. Needless to say I won't be back to this location as I believe the service and quality has really went down ever since the new Salt Grass Steakhouse opened up next door to them and all the good servers, hostess and bartenders went over there. read more

Took 90 minutes for two of us to eat dinner and we didn't even have appetizers or dessert. Very slow service and not very good food. Took 30 minutes to get our drink order and should have walked out then. Also, I asked to be seated in the main area because there were two loud parties in the back and she said no, they had to spread people out. Haven't been here in years but thought I would try again. Big mistake! Also, I ordered the pasta that was supposed to come with garlic bread but didn't. After almost 15 minutes of waiting, one of the servers, Montel, finally rescued us. He was very good... and that's where the good ends. One waiter called his colleague a "greedy a** motherf***er" behind my toddler and then a whole later they fought by the fish tank. The food came out in spurts from a runner with half our table unfed. What came out was greasy and overseasoned. My mother in law's salad was insane- bigger than her head - and drowning in dressing. My son's celebratory sundae took forever to arrive while we were serenaded by crashing silverware and more servers swearing and chit chatting in the corner. I was a server for several years in my college days.. Everyone should try that job to appreciate the difficulty. But in this restaurant, the only one who was doing it right was Montel. The server who had our table and never showed? Yeah, she was the one fighting with her coworker and missing out on the 30% tip he got for trying in the midst of such chaos. read more

If I had to use one word to describe this place it would be......value. We have been here a half dozen times in the last few months. When we think about coming, its not service (inconsistent at best) or a particular menu item (nothing really stands out here), its decent food at a good price that brings us back. For example, where else can you get a Southwest Spinach Dip for less than five bucks? My son loves this dip and honestly its not bad....for the price. See the theme here? This latest trip I got the bacon cheeseburger with fries for less than seven bucks. The bacon is plentiful, the beef is good and besides the shredded lettuce, all the components are appetizing and tasty. My son's other favorite is the Cajun Chicken Pasta for $8.49. This is a penne pasta with alfredo, grilled "cajun" chicken and steamed broc and carrots. It also comes with a piece of grilled Texas toast. The veggies should be sauteed to make them more tender to the bite. I have had the veggie plate which is a great value but I wish there were more varied choices. All in all, the food is consistent but this is a place where you would come to eat to live, not live to eat. read more

Normally a fan of this chain, but my family had such wretched service yesterday I will likely never go back. Told the wait would be 20 minutes - after forty minutes and a couple of questions answered snottily by the "hostess," they attempted to seat us at a booth for four in the bar. As there were six of us, three of whom are over six feet tall, this was utterly ridiculous. They'd also given a large table capable of seating all six of us to a party of four who came in 15 minutes after we did. When this restaurant first opened years ago at this location I decided to try it, but ended up leaving because I was seated but we were not served. Our waitress disappeared so it left a bad impression. Fast forward to 2019 and I decided to give this place another chance. That and I was given a $25 gift certificate as a gift, so I had to use it. Last Sunday, I decided to order take out instead, thinking that it shouldn't take too long, plus it was at 5:00 pm when the restaurant wasn't too packed. I placed my order at the counter and was told that my food should take about 15 minutes. I ordered the croissants, a chicken Caesar pasta salad (which I don't think requires any cooking), the New Orleans pasta, and a burger. Their 15 minute estimate seemed pretty ambitious, but I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. Long story short and an even longer time later my food eventually came out. It took over an hour and 15 minutes and it was because the burger wasn't done. The reason for my 2 stars is because the croissants are indeed yummy and I added a star because of their clever marketing tactics. They take pride in adding "Scratch" kitchen to their name to emphasize that everything is made from scratch, but personally I think is a witty way to justify the slow snail service. read more

Called three times trying to give them a heads up for a large party and spoke with the manager, Leonard, and got nothing but attitude from the get go. He assured me that Cheddar's policy is that they do not take reservations. I told him we were just trying to give them a heads up in advance to make the process run more smoothly. Once again, I was rebuffed. We called the following day and spoke with Ryan who assured it would be no issue and just to call ahead and speak with the GM. Well, when we arrived, it was a HUGE issue and were given the three WORST booths in the place. Guess who was here? LEONARD and full of attitude, as were the hostesses. I can see from where that emanates. We were finally rescued by a waiter, Thorn, who wasn't even in the section but saw our plight and took ownership of us. Let me just say that if we weren't using prepurchased gift cards we would have DEFINITELY have chosen a more accommodating venue. I've seen reviews and ignored them because one bad experience doesn't mean that I'll have a bad experience but I had to write a review. I placed an order to go so I can't comment on the actual waiters and waitresses but I sure hope the girl that works to go orders is not an example of any other service within this restaurant. Moving past the service the only decent part of the meal was the mac n cheese and mashed potatoes. We ordered a baked potato and asked for cheese, bacon bits, and sour cream - it came with nothing - just the baked potato. We ordered a Cesar salad and we got the salad but they gave us no dressing. We ordered two steaks and one had the texture of fish. My wife is currently trying to cook it on the stove top to find out if maybe it was just under cooked. Been here frequently in the past. Last visit was about one month ago. It has ALWAYS been hit or miss with the service and the good. This time it is a total miss with the service. Can't say if it is just the cook moving slow or the server or both. Just recd our food after ordering almost an hr ago. It took 15 min to receive 2 waters and a tea after ordering drinks n food. Then the tea was not sweet tea as requested. However we couldn't tell the server til almost 20 min later, cuz that was the next time we saw him. The water always tastes like sea water but I always forget and order anyway . Well out appetizer honey butter croissants came out a lot 30 min after ordering. This whole trip was not even worth it. I should've been in bed by now. Hopefully they can straighten this whole mess of a Cheddars out soon before they shut down, as this is one of the most affordable restaurants in a good driving distance from home. Horrible service on 3/9/17. Our family met for a birthday celebration and were made to wait while watching other groups of the same size walk in & be seated (We had 11 people). When I brought it to the staff's attention, the young ladies in the front argued & talked back to me. We had small children & elders who were thirsty & hungry. My son, who's birthday we were celebrating has Cystic Fibrosis, is currently on oxygen & is facing a lung transplant. We wanted THIS birthday to be a special one because of the state of his health at just 27 years old. I also brought this to the manager's attention. I advised him that usually if made to wait for a long time, most restaurants will offer water - we were offered nothing or asked how we were doing. When we inquired as to why the seating was taking so long, we were told that because we were an "incomplete party" we had to wait. We already explained to staff that the ONE person we were waiting on would be extremely late, to please seat us. The manager stood there as one of the young ladies talked back to me. My son could not take the stress & walked out. We had no choice but to follow. We finally talked him into going to Olive Garden, where we were seated after only waiting approximately 10 minutes & were treated with respect. We were GLAD that we didn't give Cheddar's our $300 that night. First time at that place & Never going back. Such an awful, rude & discriminatory experience. read more

We loved Cheddar's in the Midwest where we are from but this Cheddar's has to be the dirtiest sticky restaurant we have been in. Serious management problem when you are stuck in your seat because it's not clean and you can't help but observe that you have wait staff stealing tips off tables standing around complaining about the job and hiding out in the bar area on their cell phones lazy and disrespectful. I eat there on a regular basis. The food is good, well prepared, the portions are humongous. The prices will blow your mind. It isn't a five star restaurant.
