Delicious food made to order great service drinks are the best and the selection are of a good size

The 3 stars is simply because of my waitress. The food was good & my drink was good. The chicken tenders were fried just right. The corn was well corn and the fries were tasty. My issue was with the forgetfulness of our waitress. It took her forever to get water to us. My drink I ordered when I sat down came over 20 minutes later when I finally made eye contact with her. Our hot sauce came to the table once we were finished with our meal. This is very irritating when you have to wait long periods of time for your cocktail and condiments. I did not plan on drinking my martini w my food. And I didn't plan on eating my chicken fingers without the hot sauce. Bummer! Overall the place was clean and she wore a mask and was nice. read more

I worked here for one month August to September 2023. The management sucks and they treat the employees so horribly, making them work like a dog when they are not being paid enough. I was a busser and I was being paid $14 an hour as a trainee and then I got paid $6 an hour plus tips. Not right at all. They hired me on the spot which was the first red flag. Anyways the food is pretty good. But if you are wanting to work here or know someone that wants to I do not recommend working here. read more

Todays service was rather disappointing. First we were sat at a table that was messy, dirty, and definitely not clean. Ziosk was face down ( a tell-tale sign that the table has yet to be wiped.) ordered drinks, appetizers and our entrees. Out of French fries... that baffled me but we live on. Entrees came out first, had to remind a different waiter about our appetizer that hadn't come out yet, and by then, we didn't even get to touch it since our food was at the table first. How many places can go and get a great meal plus an adult beverage for under $20? Cheddar's is in rarefied space because of this in my opinion. Hit this location (btw, very difficult to get to if you're coming from the Stadium blvd exit, just FYI) on a Sunday afternoon shortly before the dinner rush. Was seated promptly, had a Texas Sweet Tea along with a cheese fries appetizer. When my other cohorts showed up, I went ahead and got some fried shrimp, mashed taters + gravy, & broccoli. Shocker, all of it was amazing per usual. The consistency between locations is top notch. On top of that, the service provided by Marybeth (All together 1 name...I asked) was fantastic. Here are the caveats...the parking lot can get pretty full during peak hours; so expect to walk a bit. Secondly, as we were leaving around 5:30PM, there was a line out the door; so if you come during peak hours, please do expect to wait a bit. Thirdly, afaik they don't take reservations or do call ahead seating like Texas Roadhouse. But the food, service, & value all make this place a 5-star dining destination. read more

Our personal server was great, and the food was good. However, the host, which I do not know her name, was unbelievably rude. We had a party of 11, and called in about 45 minutes ahead of time and they said the table would be ready at 5:45. We got there around 5:35(ish), and still waited about 35 minutes. My grandfather asked her how long it would be at about 6:10 or so and she said "I told you it would be 15 minutes and it's only been 14", which at that point it had already been 30. Idk if she thought it was funny, but it wasn't and I do not think she is meant to work in customer service whatsoever. She just seemed like she was just bothered of our presence and didn't want to take care of us. And it wasn't even that busy. read more

When I'm need of comfort food and I don't want to cook- this is it. The chicken pot pie is my go to eat my feelings meal at this place. I have no regrets! Service is usually good. Clean and family friendly. Suitable for large parties, business lunch or possibly a date but for me it's mainly a quick place to stop for a bit of reliable comfort food. read more

My dinner took a long time to come out (even the bartender commented on it taking a while) and it came out (not surprisingly) cold. But I wasn't in a rush and they remade it very quickly -- in the end I was happy with the meal. I also like they have calorie counts for everything. Reasonable priced drinks. A decent local restaurant even for a chain. EDIT: I just remembered their "tip calculator" on the receipt was calculated AFTER tax? Huh? Don't screw around with other people's money. I am still 4-stars on Cheddars. My fave meal is the blackened whitefish. My wife's is the blackened tilapia. They can move a huge crowd through here pretty quickly. The restaurant is always clean and I have had most good to great servers here. A great chain that is worth a visit and is our our regular restaurant rotation. read more

I've been here twice recently and the first time the food was very good five stars however the second time it was not. The first time my guest had the chicken tenders and shrimp, he said it was good. I had the Monte cristo and thought it was delicious. The painkiller drink was super good. The second time my guest and I had the chicken pot pie. I has a really delicious crust. Not "traditional" it's light and airy. The pie would have been absolutely divine IF it wasn't so salty. It was so bad it couldn't have been finished. This is my go to place to eat when I just want something easy and priced well. Me and my boyfriend always get something new. I've enjoyed the car delivery option as it's made picking up my food before work so nice. Also, we had an issue that our food was given to another customer and they were quick to let us know and to refund us our money along with a gift card for far more than what we paid for. My poor wife was super excited to bring me here because she loves this place. Unfortunately, it didn't turn out to be what she had hoped. The food is just okay, very average in fact. Maybe we came on a bad day, but it was like an upscale Dennys. Great looking restaurant and my burger was good but didn't come with fries, you had to buy them SEPERATELY. WTH?! I thought they only did that at high end joints. My wife had the fried shrimp and NY steak plate for lunch, about $15.00, no salad, no bread and the chunk of meat they called a steak was disgusting. Full of fat and gristle. It was also sitting on a bed of greasy, limp onion rings. This would been a 3 star meal but when my wife showed our server the steak, she promptly took it back into the kitchen. We didn't expect much but they took the entire dish off our bill! We usually love Chedders but not tonight. I went to dinner with my parents tonight. I ordered my steak medium and it came out rare. We didn't say anything and my father ate mine, I ate his remaining steak. When we were finishing up a man came over and asked us how dinner was. We told him I couldn't eat my dinner because it was too rare. He said It looks medium rare, I told him it was ordered medium. He said "hmmm, ok." and walked to the kitchen and never cane back to our table! A few minutes later he came out and asked the table next to us how their dinner was. They told him one of their steaks was underdone and he told them he would make them another steak. My table sat in shock. We have no idea why this man asked how our dinner was, didn't apologize, walked off, then made a new one for the table next to us. I will change my rating if I go back and it is better. read more

Ordered a Maui margarita slush, came with a sour cactus shot which was pretty sour but tasty. Ordered the Wisconsin Cheese Bites with marinara as an appetizer, it tasted like mozzarella sticks very tasty. Then I ordered a steak with half order of ribs, their steak is alright, ribs are pretty good! My husband ordered the half rack ribs with grilled shrimp, and the shrimp was tasty also. This place is my favorite restaurant in Columbia! The best prices of any restaurant I have ever been. Their portion sizes are HUGE, how is everything $10 and under and I have left overs? So crazy. The spinach and artichoke dip is really good for an appetizer and so are the chicken fingers. My favorite dish here is the bourbon salmon or the mango salsa salmon. Both great portions with 2 sides and still under the $10-$12 mark. Steak/chicken combo is always good too. The drinks are awesome!!! I love that they have "skinny" options for a lot of the drinks too. They used to have a wedding cake drink that was to die for, it's not on the menu but you might be able to still order it. This is our favorite go to place to go. The food is great and the prices are reasonable. My favorite is the Saimon and my husband love the chicken fried chicken. Aug. 2019 We have been going here for many years. They have been bought out by Darkin Corp. Ever since then the quality and quality of the food has gone down. We have been to several Chedders( Iowa, Illinois, Missouri and other one's when we travel) I think we will have to find some where else . read more

New Lunch Spot where the ribs melt in your mouth Cheddar's in Columbia MO!!! Today I stopped into the local Columbia Cheddars. This restaurant is soo underrated. !!! I was greeted by smiling hostess and quickly placed at a booth. As I checked out the other customers, the environment was very comfortable with lively conversations and more than a few people smiling at their plates as they ate. I had the pleasure of being served by Caydee who was extremely attentive and knowledgeable about the company. After I told her this was my first time and knew nothing of the place other than the name, she filled me in on how they are known for being a prepared from scratch dining experience. As A Holistic Health Coach I was instantly suckered in. Caydee then explained how from the unlimited chips to the delicious pomegranate vinaigrette dressing. The staff work daily to pop out fresh meals,made from scratch, with fresh ingredients. Also being a personal chef I decided to take their kitchen staff on a test ride by ordering steak medium and ribs. The steak was pretty good it was perfectly medium and a tad chewy but I LOVED the ribs that were so tender I was able to be cut them with a fork and they melted in my mouth. Cheddars name accurately reps their awesome cheese dishes. I didn't get a chance to talk much with them about what kinds of cheeses they use and where they normally get them from but the queso dip was soo good I had to put it up to stop from over eating, and the broccoli and cheese casserole took me back to the good ol' days when mom would make it. The food itself was good and our personal server was good, but everyone else we came in contact with was awful. When we arrived, we had 11 people and table was supposed to be ready at 5:45. We waited until about 6:15 when a member of the party asked how much longer it would be, and the host answered with an insanely snarky remark. At that point we were discussing any other option for dinner nearby, but decided to stay in hopes it would get better. The server we had was really good, but the other servers nearby were not. One blonde girl server we came in contact with was especially rude. She helped bring the food out to our table which we were thankful to finally have food after waiting 45 minutes, but the way she communicated was poor. She said she had one food item that 3 people at the table had, and we asked if it was the one specific for my boyfriend's mom, and she said "I'm not sure. If you ordered it, then it's yours" which at that point my boyfriend's sister and I were so done. Our server said that blonde girl was having a rough day, which is understood considering my boyfriend and I have worked in the service industry for a combined 10+ years, but we still have never treated a table that way. My family and I went to Cheddar's after my daughter's college graduation (her choice). I ordered the onion rings. They were ok. I only ate a few because I wasn't hungry. I'd been eating the whole day. My only complaint was that my food wasn't hot. It wasn't even warm. More like room temperature. Other than that it was a great place to eat. This was our anniversary and we were looking forward to a good experience as we've had luck there in the past. When we were seated at our table my husband pulled out a chair and the back was dripping with food as well as all the seats at the table were covered with food and crumbs. The floor was covered with food and filthy in the whole serving area. We were served our appetizers and bread without any plates or silverware. My tea, which he said was decaf and now know was not, was served without a saucer or spoon. When our food came, after an extended wait, it was cold and only mildly edible. I'm really not that picky of a person but it took 4 tries each to get silverware (forks AND knife) that were not filthy with food stuck on them. I had to keep going up to the front and get napkins rolls. I finally gave up and used a napkin and my water to clean them enough to eat without stuck on food nuggets. It was an awful experience and we'll not be going there again. read more

Took my family out at 3 pm for an early dinner. We had to wait over 30 minutes before we were even allowed in to the restaurant. When we walked in the restaurant was almost completely empty, maybe 2 tables full. Had to wait another 30-45 minutes before we got our food. The Alfredo was watery and lukewarm. My kids wouldn't even eat their food because it tasted terrible. We will never ever return!!! A complete waste of money and time!!! read more

So sad, I use to love Cheddars. However our family decided this was the last trip (multi generation customers). Although this time I feel it was more staff induced than the restaurant itself. They sure did go out of the way to provide the worst possible service after I quietly requested a new glass of water that didn't have old lettuce stuck to the inside bottom. Maybe it was a theme for the staff in general today. Or maybe it was a blessing to pace utilizing my water after it finally came with the meal (because we never received any refills). Which, for 4pm, it took longer than a rush period to get. The food was subpar and dry. I'm glad we could provide some entertainment for the staff. I'm sure they got a small kick selecting the worst pieces of yellow broccoli to replace the incorrect side that was brought out. (Photo posted of togo container. My spouse and I visited this location for lunch yesterday while we were in town. I'd never had Cheddar's; but they had visited a couple of other locations in the past and spoke highly of the chain. We arrived towards the end of lunch, they were busy, but not packed and we were seated in the far back of the restaurant which tends to concern me as it's often easy to get forgotten about - we'll come back to this later. We were greeted by our server less than a minute after being seated and she took our drink order and thoughtfully mentioned that they had Coca-Cola products versus leaving us to guess. She returned shortly with our drinks and got our orders which were a large cheese fry appetizer ($6.99), chicken and shrimp ($10.99) for my spouse and buffalo chicken strips ($8.99) for myself. Please note I lost my receipt so those prices may not be exact; but they should be close. The appetizer was prompt and reasonable. I felt it was lacking cheese compared to other chains, but a small quibble at best. They were hot and were pretty good. About halfway through the fries our entrees showed up. The person who delivered our entrees was not our server and as she got to the table she asked my spouse if she had wanted gravy for her mashed potatoes. My spouse indicated that she had, and in fact had told our server that when she ordered. Rather than taking the plate back - which had not been placed on the table, she left and shortly a small cup of gravy appeared which my spouse had to dump on her potatoes. It's probably not what I would have done, but things happen so we moved on. The entrees were portioned nicely and the food was very good. Our meal progressed nicely; however, our server didn't return to our table nor the one behind us. After at least 10, probably 15 minutes with empty drinks and frustration having set in, my spouse set out to find a manager. Finally while that was going on the server did appear and dropped off the check at the table behind us and asked me if "everything was okay". Now frankly, having 3 empty glasses sitting there (my water and Sprite, and my spouses Lemonade) with my plate still over half full might have tipped me off to inquire about refilling our drinks, but it didn't so I requested that and she disappeared. In the meantime my spouse returned and the manager dropped off a new lemonade and said he was comping her meal. Now frankly that wasn't necessary as the food was fine; all we really wanted was our drinks filled and just a reasonable level of service for the rest of our meal. Our server finally returned and did offer boxes and dropped off our bill, though she never did refill either of my glasses which left me a touch agitated aft this point and the reason for 4 stars in lieu of 5. Maybe it was a bad day for her; maybe it was because we were all the way in the back and by then the place had cleared out pretty good; but whatever it is, it was disappointing and marred the experience somewhat which is a shame as the food was very good. I'm sure we'll be back when we're in the area again to see if things are better as the food justifies it; I just hope the experience is closer to what my spouse has had in Springfield than what it was here yesterday. That being said, I'd still recommend them, I just wouldn't let myself be seated where we were again. read more

My wife had the salmon and strawberry salad which she thought was great. I had the lemon pepper whitefish over a bed of ginger rice. My sides were a serving of mac n cheese and a small salad. We ate at this location when visiting for the State Track Meet. Our party split into two tables and we were all very well taken care of. The service was prompt and wonderful. I have several things I enjoy to eat at Cheddar's. One of my favorite items is the chicken strips. You cannot go wrong with them! Another favorite is the cheddar bites appetizer, the monte cristo sandwich. Another item I like is the vegetable plate. Basically it allows you to get several side dishes. Very good. Never have had a bad experience here! Tonight my husband and I went out for a date night (they have been non existent with Covid this year) and the service and wait was great! Tbh if I could give a zero star I would it started once we walked in the door we checked in and was told it would be 10 minutes for a table and that wasn't to bad we then sat there for over 30 plus minutes to then be brought to the table with so many open tables around us and I understood that they could be short on waiting staff. We then proceeded to meet our waiter when he asked what we wanted to drink and didn't even introduce himself.we then told him and it took 20 minutes for a water and Dr Pepper, our croissants were Burnt all to hell and then told the waiter he then said ok I'm sorry we will bring you new ones with the appetizer we ordered. While waiting for the new ones we rolled out or silver ware and they were dirty like they didn't even get washed and my fiancé fork on prong was bent upwards so not even useable. Eventually the appetizer arrived but no croissants. not long after i ran out of water and never got another glass of water until after my main dish arrived. We then told the waiter about their silver ware and he got us new ones and said he hand washed them but yet the new pair was dirty as well. We proceeded to order, I got the chicken fried chicken and my fiancé got the 9 shrimp and extra butter. Also keep in mind a pair of nice lady's just sat down next to us. Long story short we didn't get our food for I would say at least an hour after we ordered and when we did my chicken was cold and my fiancé was brought chicken instead of shrimp and no butter at all I then had to ask my waiter for more water because I hadn't had any since my app was brought luckily this didn't take long to get. Remember the lady's that sat down not to long ago? they already got their food and it was only about 15 mins for their food to arrive from when they ordered. We then told our waiter what was wrong and asked for a manager the manager then arrived and said sorry I can take part of it off but other than that sorry, she was the rudest manager I have even seen. My fiancé was livid at this point so then when our waiter came back we told him how the lady's next to us got their food in 15 min but we waited so long for ours and it was wrong and he then replied with well the wait doesn't matter. This really pissed me off so we just asked for our ticket to leave the waiter then left and came back with our ticket and slammed it on our table and said have a great night. I would never recommend this place to my worse enemy's and ps the waiter had blue nails and long hair and looked like he hadn't showered for a week. So yeah if I could put zero I would. read more

Always a great spot in Columbia. For lunch or dinner the portions are generous and price is just right! My favorite is chicken tenders but everything is delicious. Highly recommend the pain killer cocktail for adults :) service is always fast and friendly! read more
