If you're looking for Missouri's hidden gem, you've found it. My favorite thing in the world is finding a "mom & pop" type restaurant where the food blows you away. When I came here last year for the first time, I knew I had found it. Since then, it's not so secret any longer because this place has been in magazines and all over social media but luckily they haven't let it go to their head and they continue to make the best food in Missouri. Be prepared to wait. Not because they're slow but because their food is fresh and actually cooked to order. They take pride in literally every single dish. Every time I've come here they've had a different and unique item on special or a unique appetizer and they always impress. Trust me when I say it's worth the wait. If at all possible, leave room for dessert. You'll know what I mean when you see them. These aren't just "pies" or "cakes", these are the most magnificent desserts I've ever had. I have been here 2 times anticipating a great meal because of all the hype, pictures on FB and reviews. 1st off it is very smokey in there from the kitchen, not from people smoking, it actually burns your eyes. 2nd, I ordered the Fried Shrimp thinking everything was all homemade, well it was frozen shrimp from a box which I can make at home. The next time I had the Ground Sirloin with mashed potatoes and gravy. The meat was alright, potatoes were cold, but there was brown gravy on the meat and white gravy on the potatoes, which I didn't care for the taste of either one. 3rd, I will go back to try the Battered Fried Lobster, and the Fried Chicken when it's on special. If those meals are disappointing then I'm done. Please correct the smoke issue in the restaurant, it is pretty bad. read more

Best meal I've had in forever. Place is very simple from the outside, which I love, and amazing decorations on the inside. The food came in giant portions and was some of the best home style cooking I've had in years. The wait staff was very sweet and took incredible care of me. If you're anywhere even close to the lake of the Ozarks area you need to go get some Jones outpost. Loved it!! read more

Three of us (two 65+, one 13 yrs old) went to Jones because of the ratings, and being close to where my lady lives. What a joke. Yes, cars were waiting prior to opening. The inside of the place was FRIGID. She and her grandson ordered the chicken special with mashed potatoes and gravy. When their meals came out, they were barely warm, all having been precooked(for the "special"). Their breast pieces were i/3 breast and 1/2 back. My meal was hot,as I ordered fish fries, and slaw. The fries are cut there, but were extremely greasy. Then, to top it all off, there is a 3% upcharge for using a credit card. We won't be going back. New restaurant in Montreal,Mo. Homemade bread and honey butter along with drinks was served when your seated. My shrimp plate had 12-15 shrimp fries and slaw. Fried chicken included homemade mashed potatoes and corn. Pork tenderloin sandwich was hand dipped. No frozen foods. Nothing fancy but homemade. Excellent service. Only one issue. Poor ventilation from the kitchen. Well worth the drive from lake area. Will be going back again. read more

Great food, great atmosphere, low prices with a gourmet quality. the Chef/owner is in the kitchen and can see you walk in or out the door while he's cooking the best food. BTW Mike Jones is the best chef in the area, my ex wife worked in the kitchen with him 20 years ago, he's just got his own place now. We are originally from the Waynesville area but settled in Georgia upon retirement from the Army. We came home to Missouri in September and was introduced to Jones Outpost by relatives. In the 10 days we were home, we made the trip to Montreal twice. The food, service and employees were outstanding. My wife has Asthma and there was no smoke from the kitchen. I highly recommend this eating establishment for anyone visiting that area of Missouri. read more

went there for lunch, everything was as advertised. food was great, service was excellent, meal arrived fast and hot, great hamburger and the tenderloin sandwich was fantastic.....but the smoky, greasy smell in the restaurant followed us home! I can't imagine how bad it would be during busy time, but this was enough to keep us from going back. Too bad, great food but the cooking odors ruin the place! Buy an exhaust fan and then let us know when it is installed, maybe we will be back! read more

By far the best place to eat if you are at LOZ....friendly staff, great food prepared by a great chef. Short drive to Montreal just outside osage beach and well worth the drive.
