Every time I pass by Cheddar's it's always packed! I had to check it out myself. I believe I went on a Sunday and yes, it was packed for lunch time. The service was good and the server's attitude was excellent! The food isn't the type of food I really enjoy, heavy and fried food.. average American food. The flavors isn't that bad, but I did find the pasta to be too salty. The onion rings were highly suggested and I don't even like onion rings, but these were so light and crispy! Delicious and they are also super cheap for such a large pile. The Shepard's pie was average and the Cajun pasta was pretty good, but too salty for me. The serving was a large size. I must have to say! The drinks were pretty cheap! If I were to return I would definitely go for the drinks and appetizers. read more

To die for croissants, huge portions, pretty good food, this place is a solid 4. We got there around 5:30 p.m. on a Friday and this place was packed! It was absolutely filled with people over the age of 60. There is a huge group of benches outside that you can sit while you wait. It was nice. You must get a croissant with your meal. It is delicious. It is buttery, honey soaked goodness. I ate mine then I ate half of a friends. I got the Vegetable Plate which I loved! It is under the salads, but it is not a salad. You get a choice of a soup and then four sides plus a croissant. Best. Idea. Ever. I love having a variety of food and this allowed me to try four different sides and a soup. I got the potato soup and it came with bacon and cheese drizzled on it. I loved it. For my sides I got the loaded baked potato, the coleslaw, the broccoli cheese casserole, and the baked beans and rice. There was almost no rice in the baked beans and rice. Plus it was spicy. I ended up not eating it. The baked potato was fine, but I probably would not get it again. I liked the coleslaw, but the real winner was the broccoli casserole. Absolutely delicious. Next time I would consider getting two servings of that. I was stuffed after my meal. This is definitely a place I want to come back to to try other menu items! read more

This was my first time here and wow I want to come back the service was great the food was great I got no complaints.

The parking lot was full, so that usually bodes well for a place. But immediately upon entering, the sharp screech of a child greeted my ears, so when we were sat, we were sat in the bar/lounge area. That was fine (for the most part) as it was quieter over all. The bar wasn't terribly busy, but we still waited about 8 minutes until someone came by and told us they'd be right with us, first a woman and then a guy. The guy came back and took our drink orders and let us know that the bartender would be our Waitress. She came back in a moment or so and took our order for apps and mains. We ordered chips and homemade queso - with ground beef added for free, the home made (uh, more like shipped from Sysco) chicken pot pie and a bacon cheese burger. Our chips and queso came out very quickly, and they added a -LOT- of ground beef to the dip. So much so that it almost over powered the cheese. Still, it had great flavor, the chips were fresh and the salsa was both spicy and tasty. When we were more than 1/2 way done, the bartender said she'd bring us more chips, we waved her off, we didn't really need more. She also brought out my salad with the chips, and that's great, it was a fresh salad with romaine lettuce, cherry tomatoes, some shredded carrots and croutons. I don't remember asking for Ranch dressing, but that's what I got, and it was on the side, just like I like it. It also came with a honey croissant ala Hops (YUM!) We chatted and munched our way through this part of the meal, as the room seemed to grow colder and colder. We weren't the only ones to notice the temperature drop. The table behind me complained, asking them to bump it up. Apparently they keep it cold in the lounge because the main room gets REALLY hot if the ac in the lounge goes off. It was -so- cold that there was condensation forming on the AC vent and dripping on me, on my seat and thigh. What fun. Our mains came out and as I said, they advertise that their Chicken Pot Pie is homemade, but it's most certainly frozen and re-heated. This is not made in house, but its still tasty. The cheese burger was large and topped well, though the fries were paltry and meh looking to my eyes. Our waitress was attentive, but the temperature difference was too much. My hands were so cold they were aching. When we left we could tell how MUCH of a difference there was between the foyer and the bar area, a good 10-15 degrees. First time at this establishment and it was literally a perfect evening. Our server Manny did a wonderful job. He was very knowledgeable, personable, and professional. He made great recommendations. Our cheese curds came out perfect, we loved that there was a little eye spy game on the wrapper underneath. The honey butter was to die for. I ordered a steak rare and it came out just like I ordered and was seasoned perfectly. My boyfriend got the New Orleans pasta and it was so creamy and packed with flavor. Well hot damn! This meal exceeded my expectations by a long shot. I walked in thinking "Applebee's or Chili's type food," and I couldn't have been more wrong. This is a straight up American and southern American comfort food joint, nothing fancy or experimental going on here. Burgers, sandwiches, casseroles, fried chicken, steaks, spaghetti, etc. There were 7 of us, and most ordered burgers. I wanted one myself, but I saw a picture of the chicken fried chicken via the Yelp app before ordering and I was SOLD! So thank you Sally M. for that glamorous shot. The meal was great. Two large chicken breasts cooked to perfection, tender, juicy and toothsome as all get out. Wonderfully lumpy scratch-made mashed potatoes and a white gravy that would make my grandma see Cheddar's as possible competition. The green beans were okay, but nothing spectacular. The broccoli casserole side that La Chica got with her bourbon-glazed salmon was a much better side option. And in case you're wondering, of course I took a bite of her slammin' salmon--very good! The only disappointing meal on the table was the "world-class chicken sandwich." After eating it, my son opined, "There was nothing "world-class" about that. I should have gotten a burger." For dessert, I got a slice of Key Lime pie to go. I didn't take a picture, but I can assure you that it was spot-freaking-on. Additionally, it was a quarter of the pie. Easily the biggest slice of pie I've ever eaten. We went on a Saturday night, had no parking issues and no wait to be seated. Staff was friendly, and my only complaint is that they didn't make my brother's meal, so we were all completely finished eating by the time it arrived. I came to this place foe the first time and immediately thought it must've been good since there was a long wait to get seated...and this was on a Thursday night. PROS: - very reasonably priced food - they have signature meals - delicious sides -Very good steak and ribs (they fall off the bone) - food proportions were big - menu was legit - service was good - a good spot to celebrate your birthday since they give you an enormous slice if chocolate cake (which was very good with compliment of a scoop of vanilla iced cream. The service was quite good and worth mentioning, as we were a party of 8 adults. We started out with a Monte Cristo Sandwich for the table to share. This turned out to be an excellent idea as it is WAY too much and too rich a sandwich for one, two or even 4! Cocktails/drinks arrived quickly and everyone was really pleased with what they chose for dinner - all but one in our party. His main course (ribs) was room temp and the sides (Mac &cheese, Southern green beans) were ice cold. Our fabulous waiter took it back to the kitchen with a request that the kitchen doesn't microwave it! And they didn't microwave it, but it took another 20 minutes for his meal to return, and by that time, it was too late. The rest of us had long finished by the time it arrived and our friend had lost interest in waiting. Here is the best part. Trish Clay, the Service Manager came to our table, made it clear to us that this is not the usual service to expect at Cheddars. She took the rib dinner off the bill and insisted on providing our friend with the "rib dinner and sides to go", compliments of the house. In case he got hungry at 10 or 11 that night as he only had 1/8th of a Monte Cristo sandwich for dinner! And speaking of compliments of the house, we were served honey bun sweet rolls before the Monte Cristo arrived and Trish handed out the most fabulous chocolate chip cookies to each of us upon our departure. What more do you want from a quality restaurant: great food, good service, management that cares about customer satisfaction and a place you want to go back to because you know they value your custom! Cheddars is not a chain that I know of, and they seem to do no advertising -- but tend to be quite busy. I like this place. There is a nicely diversified menu of casual food. The appetizers and deserts are great. For lunch I like the soup/salad/sandwich ultimate combo. Lunch entrees are under $10 and some are under $8. The food quality is good and the service is very good. For a casual lunch or dinner -- Cheddars is a great choice. Pro Tip -- if you want the Monster Cookie Sundae, it takes 20 minutes to bake fresh, so order it early! read more

Hubby and I tried Cheddars with some friends from the area. We loved everything! We shared an order of cheese bites. These were way better than the typical cheese curds we're used to from MN and WI. Our first time to this location went ok from start to finish. Because of that we chose to go again. HOWEVER, they did have had a lot of empty areas but they chose to seat us next to a really long table of loud people celebrating a birthday. Our service was a little slow due to our server helping several other servers with the demands of this long table of 8 or so. Their little two yr old was cute as she was allowed to wander away from them to our table, but the food was good. We live in an area that you can go in any direction and find a restaurant a stone's throw away from where you are. So we don't always return to the same place. But we did. Our 2nd experience really was a let down. I noticed there was only a half full restaurant again, but it was very noisy. I asked the two hostess that were there if we could be seated in a quiet area. One girl gave the other girl the table number and she asked her "are you sure?" She said yes. She led us smack dab in the middle of the noisiest section in the whole place! It felt like it was on purpose. I told myself to just deal with it. The girl seating us could tell I was upset. She did ask if I wanted another table. I said no. I said you already didn't listen to my request. We sat there and I was getting madder as the kids started crying at other tables and so we left before anyone came to even get our drink order. Remembering the smug look on that girls face and never even looking or speaking to us just made it worse. So we went to Long Horn Steak house and had the best service and the best steaks ever! We've been back there again since too! Wonderful! Then we went a third time. Sunday 4:30pm, half full again. I never made a request. She led the 2 of us to a huge 6-8 person booth for some reason when a smaller table was right across from us. Dinner rush would be starting so I thought what a waste but ok. Yes it was in a pretty full section and a table of 6 sat two seats behind me loud as can be. But then they would quiet down some so that helped. We decide what we want to order and the server who was very friendly tells my husband sorry you can't get a baked potato or the carrots, the kitchen just told everyone they're all out. Really? 4:30pm on Sunday. He chose something else and we also ordered an appetizer. He didn't really want what he settled for. He was really looking forward to what he wanted. He cancelled his order and just ate the appetizer. So that's it. 3 strikes your out! The mentality and the typical patrons at this location do not work for us. We went to Cheddars for lunch on the recommendation from my brother who has eaten there several times previously with enjoyable experiences. The decor is very nice, the restaurant clean and well kept inside and outside. Comfortable and inviting with beautiful tropical looking ceiling fans in the main dining area. There were four of us in our party, we requested a table with chairs not a booth and were led from one room and then back again to the main dining room- a miscommunication between hostesses. Once we were seated our waiter Tom came over promptly and introduced himself and asked for our beverage orders. We all ordered ice tea however all our teas were different. One plain unsweetened tea, one plain sweet tea, one unsweetened tea with one lemon and one unsweetened tea with lots of lemon. Tom never forgot who ordered what tea and kept our glasses filled without our asking for a refill- great job on beverages. Our appetizers were chips with queso dip and salsa and their famous onion rings. The chips were freshly made, the queso was excellent-all four of us agreed upon that fact. It had tiny cubed pieces that looked like tomatoes and sprinkled with cilantro and spiced nicely throughout. Salsa was good- a little on the watery side and not enough for our party but the flavor was decent and you could taste the cilantro. The onion rings were large, fresh, hot and delicious but a little on the greasy side - a napkin is definitely needed but so worth it! We all ordered different mains: one New Orleans Pasta dish which has blackened chicken and shrimp, smoked sausage in a creamy Cajun Alfredo sauce over penne pasta. It met with rave reviews from my brother. My sister in law ordered the Braised Fall a part Beef Roast- a dish made with slow roasted beef roast with carrots, celery, onions in a Au Jus served over mashed potatoes. Her remarks were delicious and comfort food at it's best. My main was the Key West Chicken and Shrimp. A marinated grilled chicken breast served with grilled blackened shrimp over a bed of rice with pineapple pico de gallo. It also had a small bowl of what appeared to be Teriyaki sauce. Very flavorful. Only two small negatives- the Teriyaki sauce was very thin- I think if it were thicker it would have kicked the dish up a notch and while I enjoyed the pineapple pico- it was plain. Everyone knows pico is made with fresh tomatoes, minced onion, minced jalapenos and cilantro. The pineapple was added to the tomatoes but the onion, jalapeno and cilantro were missing. They need to work on their recipe- it could be improved upon. My entree was the only one that came with two sides- I ordered their apples and raisins mixed with yogurt. A delicious and unique side dish with good, fresh flavor and my second side was coleslaw. My least favorite dish of the lunch. The dressing was watery and pooled on the bottom of the bowl while leaving the top of my slaw dry and it needed salt-very bland. My hubby ordered the Grilled Chicken Alfredo dish. Grilled chicken breast, vegetables in a homemade Alfredo sauce over penne pasta. This was not met with approval from my husband. The dish was dry and bland served with numerous huge chunks of broccoli which had to be cut several times to eat and whole baby carrots which were under cooked. The highlight of the dish was the chicken. All our main dishes were served at room temperature which decreased our enjoyment. All in all a decent experience but with a few minor improvements could become an excellent dining experience. read more

Food is decent when you can actually get a table. We wanted to sit near the bar with our 9 year old to be able to watch the Bolts game. I asked the ladies at the host stand if the tables at the bar were first come first serve and they said yes. So I went back there to look at the tables and there was only one available. I spoke to the sever asking about the one table. She said that it was not first come first serve, so I went back to the host stand to put my name on the list. 45 minute wait. My husband reported that when I left to check the bar area for what I thought was first come first serve, they were talking under their breath about me as they gawked at my walking to the section. Then the poor slobs waiting to eat only "decent" food in the lobby were told by the manager that the 3 groups of people who were social distancing needed to go elsewhere. Where? To the breezeway where there are 2 other groups? Into the rain? All the way to our vehicles? What a joke. Not sure management is very knowledgeable because as we all know shit rolls downhill. I went to their web site, typed in my Clearwater zip code and got the menu for their Clearwater restaurant on Roosevelt. The burger I wanted was price X. I showed up and was given a check for 2 bucks more than price X. I said, "your web site is stating the price was X." I waited 5-10 minutes while my food was getting cold and then a young lady came out to show me their menu. She explained to me that their menu had the correct price and that the web site was a corporate site. I explained I had typed in the local zip and got the menu for their restaurant. It didn't matter. She held her ground and referred to her menu again. I went home, ate a cold burger and then called their manager. I got the same explanation -- their site is a corporate site and, in so many words, we just can't honor that because our menu prices change from time to time. She asked if I wanted to speak to their regional GM the next morning and I said fine. The next morning the GM explained the same thing to me. And he says others have complained about the discrepancy in the prices between the "corporate site" and their restaurant. I'm getting just a bit irritated hearing that others have had a similar problem and the regional GM is telling me the problem is with "corporate"! A much simpler way of handling this would have been: The first person who came to my car and hears my concern about the web site price not matching the price I'm being asked to pay -- THAT person goes back into the restaurant, takes a minute to look up the price on THEIR web site and then honors that price. Away I go, a happy customer with food that is reasonably warm to eat. Instead, four different representatives of the restaurant wanted me to accept an explanation that involved me in their internal problems. The GM is now a bit miffed as I'm trying to explain my position and asks, "Well, what do you want?" -- the question is asked in a way that is also asking: "Do you want some kind of freebie or compensation? If so, what is it you want?" I said, "I don't want any compensation. I want you to understand that involving a customer in your internal problems with 'corporate' is a very poor way to deliver customer service." He finally agreed but clearly was not happy someone he didn't know from Adam was giving him advice on customer service. And who I am to give advice on that? His customer. read more

We used to really like the Cheddars near us in Texas, so we wanted to try this one. We were seriously disappointed and will not be going back; we regretted not staying home to eat, the food would have been much better. We started with chips and queso with ground beef. It was too-salty velveeta with over seasoned meat. The meat definitely overpowered the cheese. It also came with a small dish of salsa, which was watered down and bland. The chips were light and fresh, but half were crushed at the bottom. Waitress came around offering to "put in another order for chips" which made it clear it would cost us; I declined. Kids ordered grilled cheese with steamed veggies (cheese was processed and broccoli was tough and bland), and Mac and cheese which didn't come with sides, odd (she didn't like it. I thought it was just okay but I was surprised as it's usually her favorite). Our orders were worse. I had the country fried steak with green beans and mashed potatoes. The steak was horrible. It tasted like processed cafeteria food with a simultaneously soggy and crisp/greasy breading. I could only stomach a few bites. The green beans were obviously from a tub, and kind of bland/sweet? The mashed potatoes were alright, but certainly not made fresh. My husband ordered a BBQ chicken salad. The dressing was a too-sweet BBQ sauce and the chicken tasted weird; lettuce didn't taste fresh. We decided to leave and not take leftovers. Waitress gave us a funny look, and we talked about not liking it. The manager came and told us all about being the best cheddars people had been to, which was an odd thing to say to unhappy customers. She offered to bring us something else even though our kids were clearly restless at this point. Husband ordered the country fried chicken after she explained the steak is "not even good" and comes in premade, while the chicken is made fresh. Why even serve food that is not good?? Anyway. Chicken wasn't much better. The breading was lighter and cooked more thoroughly, but the chicken had a weird taste. We left without leftovers and left a small tip to our decent waitress, but we will not be coming back. Man ...I just had one of the best Dinners ever! First off, the Waitress was a sweetheart from the get go. My wife ordered a Cherry Lime Aide Drink I ordered a un sweet Iced Tea. She ordered a Chicken Sandwich w/ applewood Bacon. I was kinda sketchie about ordering the Catfish because I have had a bad experience at another joint when they served me a rotten piece so I've never trusted ordering catfish again. Well I'm glad I took a chance tonite. I had two large pieces of Cajun Catfish over rice that wen from one side of the plate to the other. Nice and fresh and not fatty n rotten, and the Cajun seasoning wasn't over powering. The waitress brought me a refill without me asking and she didn't have to ask either, that's proper service. The place is very clean and isn't scummy and the Tea taste like Tea. I have been here a few times in the past and cant remember when the last time we were here but I think I might at least hit this place once a month. And for under 24 Bux with a drink and Diner for two you can't do go wrong. read more

Wow, talk about a place going down hill! I live close by and loved this place when it first opened but after my last visit, I will only come back for drinks. I had noticed a decline in food quality over the last couple of visits but after the garbage they served my on Saturday afternoon I will never eat here again. We ate around 4:00pm at the bar and service was rough at best, she was busy I'll give her that, but also seemed scattered. Another guy punched in and gave her some help though. The Coors Light draft was warm so he switched to a bottle and that wasn't much better. The Rum Runner was very good and I'll come back and have another some day. I ordered the Monte Cristo with broccoli casserole. It was all cold, as in the ham on the sandwich was refridgerator cold and the bread wasn't cooked all the way. Nothin says lovin from the oven like raw bread dough, yummy! I wasn't going to send it back and risk eating some disgruntled cooks spit either. I did send the casserole back because I knew that was an easy nuke and that felt safer. At the end of the day, that plate of food should have never been served. He had the sirloin steak and shrimp combo. The steak was so tough it was almost impossible to cut. The shrimp and rice were unseasoned. I get that they draw an older crowd here but how about a little salt & pepper? Management must be asleep at the wheel because I went from a fan that liked the food to not a fan that will never eat food from this location again. Sad read more

This was our fist visit to Cheddar's and I've struggled to find a short description for this restaurant. As Jenni mentions, very similar to other casual dining chains but not. The decor is nicer than usual with dark wood and stone. Lighting is also a little more subdued. The bar is a seperate area (off to the side with patio dining available) rather than the center of things like at Applebee's or TGIF. The menu is diverse and should be able to offer something for everyone in your party. Food is good, no complaints. I went with the chicken fingers (very moist) while my husband had the key west chicken with grilled shrimp (love that the shimp were cooked and served properly). But, what swung the vote to 4 stars were price and service. Our server was outstanding and we paid less for dinner than what we usually pay for lunch (appetizer and two entrees plus beverages for approx $25). This location is a little out of the way for us but we will certainly visit again next time we find ourselves up that way. read more

I'm not familiar with this chain, but it has all the usual casual dining chain elements -- big syrupy drinks, tons of heavy appetizers, and very diverse/completely incongruent entree items and salads. So, if your outing calls for the casual dining chain atmosphere, and sometimes it does (visiting mom), than this is the place. That said, I enjoyed it much more than the older chains it is modeled after. My meal was hot and fresh, and, although the serving was large enough to take home half, I was spared the overwhelming and insurmountable pile of food I've come to expect at chains. We sat in the bar area to avoid a wait--the dining area was packed at 5:30 on a Friday night (a good sign, I think)--and our waitress was great - very attentive and helpful. The tortilla chips are the best I've had in a while -- crisp, light, and just salty enough. Happy Hour has a 2.99 margarita - but, you have to sit at the bar or patio to take advantage of the happy hour specials. Overall, not bad, I would go back. read more

I was pleasantly surprised after my first experience dining at Cheddar's. They have an extensive, almost overwhelming menu with the typical fare you'd expect at a casual American chain. I had a very hard time deciding on my lunch since I was so hungry and everything sounded great! We started with the spinach dip, which was amazing. We didn't leave an ounce in the bowl. It was thicker and more creamy than most spinach dips, and probably terrible for my waistline, but my fellow spinach dip connoisseurs won't be disappointed. For my meal, I went with the lunch combo. You can choose either two or three of the following: soup, salad, half of a club sandwich, or a baked potato. I chose the chicken tortilla soup (which had a nice kick) and a salad. I had filled up so much on the spinach dip that I didn't eat much of either one, but both were good. Have I mentioned the portions are HUGE and the prices are LOW? You can expect to be bringing home a doggy bag. This was a nice departure from the more common chain restaurants, and I recommend it if you're in the area. read more
