Steak Tips, my wife and I liked it and I will be back for some more.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is always packed when I passed by so I decided to stop and check it out with my wife.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We both went for the steak tips and we both found it delicious. Tgey also offer a free honey honey butter croissant that is very good, not too sweet but hits the point. We will be back for the great service and food

The Homemade Onion Rings are back! They taste essentially the same as they did before the pandemic. Now, they're a bit crunchier. They came with the same dipping sauces as before (Ranch and a "Cajun" sauce). If you haven't tried them yet then you should now! For entrées, we ordered the Grilled Chicken Pecan Salad and the Crispy Chicken Tender Salad. Both salads were fresh and delicious. The service was attentive and friendly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant & restrooms were clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

It was our first time at this restaurant and it was a hit. We were all pleased with our delicious meals and the service was exceptional! We will return.

    Great croissants to start!

Had a nice dinner recently at the Cheddars. Our food was excellent, the noise level was low and our server Darrell was fantastic! He was very informative about menu items, didn't rush us at all, was very attentive and a very, very nice man. I hope when we return, we are fortunate enough to have him as our server. The steaks were cooked perfectly to order as we requested. I really don't have anything to complain about except that I'm hungry right now and I feel like running back there!

Very dimly lit joint which is a bit odd for something envisioning itself as a southern type restaurant. We sat in the bar (there's actually a bar in there). Barkeep was Brandon; I was a bit reticent at first because he didn't seem that outgoing. Once my dear Queen Bee said we'd never been here, he became a lil more outgoing. He went on to tell us what he likes, about drink specials, what many people order, etc. We didn't want apps, soup or anything so we just perused the menu a bit. Queen Bee already knew what she wanted but I deferred a bit. She had chicken tenders with a side salad and by Brandon's suggestion broccoli cheese casserole. Salad was basically a salad, to paraphrase the Queen Bee. Brandon mixed up the dressing she wanted for her tenders (ranch ) with what she wanted for salad (bleu cheese). He also forgot to bring out the (now salad) dressing so he dashed back off to get what turned out to be the wrong one. That gaff was followed by the broccoli cheese casserole (Brandon's "favorite" no less) clusterf**k. It was pure crap! Tasted like the "green stuff" one might find on a high school cafeteria lunch tray. Not only that, but it was also cold...not tepid, not warm, but COLD. I convinced her to get rid of it for something else; she chose mashed taters. "Gravy," Brandon asked...he said he likes their beef gravy. I rolled my eyes when she agreed to beef gravy. Big clusterf**k number two. Taters were a bit salty, but the gravy sent me back yet again to that high school cafeteria lunch tray. Blech! Straight from a bag, a can or an electric mixer...The ol' gravy boat certainly didn't take a side trip to Flavortown. I think the poor thing sank in the mudflats with all hands down!!! Her tenders were quite good, she said. Honey hot sauce was too acidic for either of us. My ribeye was okay; cooked to a slightly underdone medium. It was topped with garlic butter, which gave that mediocre meat mass a bit more flavor. Baked tater was a baked tater. I find it saddening to report that the best part of the meal was a (Caesar) salad, which can be one's second side for a small up charge. That is rather strange, but I guess it involves more work than just opening a bag of frozen corn or (heaven forbid) that horrendous broccoli cheese casserole. Would we return? Eh...I know that if we DO choose to return (damn big IF), we'd choose different (and simpler) food items. She'd have chosen fries with her tenders, and I'd probably stay with something like country fried steak, montecristo or something...and definitely NOT mashed taters, broccoli cheese casserole, or much of ANYTHING ELSE that Brandon likes. Blech!!!

On the way to a concert, we stopped at this restaurant (first visit) at opening time 5pm. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There is a peaceful fish tank in the entrance on the right. Nice touch.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We were seated quickly and Anthony, our server, was top notch. He brought bread (must-have honey crescents) and menus right away. Next came beverages and he took our order within five minutes. He knew that menu well and it came to the table hot within 10min!! He was so quick and efficient. He is a team player and agreeable to work any position in the restaurant (cook, server and definitely a people pleaser). The chef (?)came out (Luis) and asked if everything was ok. It was so good to see people working together!! The food was delicious. I had bourbon glazed salmon, rice, carrots and corn and my husband had fried chicken, mashed potatoes, carrots and gravy. Both meals were simple and tasty! [[HIGHLIGHT]]There is also a big bar in the restaurant![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We will be back, for sure!!

A pretty good breakfast Sunday morning at the Country Skillet…read more We had good attentive service, and although it's not the fanciest place in town, it has been a staple in the community for decades. It's a very comfortable place to have some home cooking. I had a veggie omelette which included some nicely, made home fries, and I opted for white toast. Also added on some sausage patties, which were actually the only part of the meal I did not enjoy. They were fried for too long and very hard and really didn't have much flavor at all. The omelette itself was very nice, but could've used maybe a little salsa or something because it was a little on the dry side. But I did enjoy it. My friend had biscuits and gravy with a side of scrambled eggs and since he left absolutely nothing on the plate I think he must've enjoyed it! I've eaten here many times and it's always been a good choice.

This was/shall be my last time there; at least Bella was working. That's the only real positive I…read morecan offer because the rest of it...well: not so much. As most are well aware, there is new ownership in place. The inside is more or less the same kitschy mishmash of 1950's junk. Outside has fresh paint and a facelift. Beyond those items, all I can say is their food quality has gone downhill. They still have a spot-on breakfast cook who made our food. Hostess was a heavy set lady who just pointed toward Bella's section when I requested to be sat there; initially we were led to a different section. So as we went to an empty table, hostess lady dropped off menus and a side plate of two room temperature chocolate chip muffins. Bite sized, underwhelming and totally unnecessary. One small bite was more than enough. Blech. While my steak skillet and the Queen Bee's over-medium eggs were quite passable, one thing I noticed was that the quality of ingredients has gone downhill. Perfect example was their home fries. The potatoes used for 'em were canned. There's no mistaking the undertone of salty, wet consistency even if the spud segments are griddled to death and back. I only tasted wet, salty canned taters and some onion. Not very well seasoned beyond that: no paprika, no nothing. The steak in the steak skillet was poorly seasoned as well. One bite would be a bit salty while the next one was bland as anything, and then the next bite had a lil too much pepper. Low quality chopped top round certainly doesn't make for as good a breffist skillet as well seasoned ribeye. Bella still knows what she's doing (she's been there long enough), as the sizable Sunday morning crowd could likely attest. The bulk of 'em were senior citizens whose taste buds may not likely be well tuned to superior quality chow. My sense is that a lotta these folks simply like the fairly reasonable prices on their newly printed menus. I didn't bother snapping any photos this time because quite honestly I didn't really feel very enthused about my experience there. Best of luck to the new owners because if the quality keeps sliding, I'm sure they're gonna need all the luck they can get. They surely won't be getting MY business ever again. I'll stick with Rizo's down further on East Bay instead.

He chose rice & peas & plantains. I chose rice & peas & cabbage. We also ordered 2 Pattie's. One spicy beef, the other mild. Ok, the good first... The cabbage was delicious! It was the best seasoned cabbage I've had outside of JA. The plantains were also prepared perfectly. That's unfortunately all well, the Pattie's... they are large & look great! Similar to juici Pattie's. Sadly they look large but they are half empty. It was mostly breading. The beef inside was well flavored & seasoned perfectly. Now for the dinners.... The jerk chicken was OK. It was quite spicy but lacked that "jerk" flavor. The curry goat... they tried to pass off Oxtail as Goat. They are not the same! The Oxtail was also very spicy & had all the sticks from the rosemary in the meat. I could understand if they missed a twig or 2 while pulling the herbs from the sticks but I had as many rosemary sticks as I had bites of meat. So every time I take a bite I have to pull a twig out of my mouth. I ended up throwing it away. Also, both of us had rice & peas. The rice was so over cooked it stuck to your teeth. It was a mushy blob! It was such a disappointment. Additionally, for as overcooked as our food was, the driver had to wait forever to pick it up. We only live 2 miles away but the order was 20 mins late. I could see the driver waiting. He unassigned it after 15 mins & the next driver still had to wait too. Maybe they were searching for a goat? I guess the goat ran away so they thought this American wouldn't be able to tell the difference between curry goat & oxtail but they got someone who knows the difference. I do usually enjoy oxtail but theirs was overcooked, overly spicy & full of twigs. It was the first time I had oxtail that I did not like. Sad to say I will still recommend people drive to Oldsmar for great Jamaican food. This one is an imposter.
