Sunday Brunch!

Stopped here after leaving the airport for a quick bite and a drink. The service was amazingly friendly and fast! Split the Smoked Chicken Quesadilla with my husband. Delicious! Highly recommend!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]A cute, cozy place to get dinner.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is nicely decorated with local art and southern vibes.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] If you are looking for some great barbecue food this is the place. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This place is great for celebrating a special occasion or a casual dinner.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our waitress was amazing. She was very nice, attentive, knowledgeable regarding the menu. The food was delicious. We got the meatloaf and a platter of their smoked meats and thought it was fabulous. They have speciality cocktails, beer, wine, etc. They also have a big selection of desserts to choose from. All of them look amazing. I really liked it here and highly recommend them.

The legends are true....Josh is the best bartender ever. Brisket Mac and cheese was fantastic. The brisket was sweet and spicy, and it was a good mix of flavors with the cheeses. There was a hefty cheese pull but not everywhere where you get messy. I really enjoyed the BBQ sauce that they used.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This place really caught my eye driving by the restaurant during the day. And when you walk inside, it doesn't disappoint.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It has a pretty amazing bakery section when you walk through the back door to enter the restaurant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I was starving and picked the biggest thing on the menu which is the smokehouse platter and you get a ton of food with this platter (Brisket, pulled pork, quarter rack of ribs all served with coleslaw, Texas toast & side of fries.) I thought the price was absolutely amazing because you get all the food for $28.95. Needless to say as starved as I was, I couldn't even finish the whole meal. Our server was Scott and he was pretty amazing and he was training a new hire and I'm sorry but I can't remember her name but she was equally great and explained the menu really well. It's really a bonus that they stay open till 11 PM Thursday through Saturday. So anything you get that is from the BBQ...they bring out this 4 pack of house sauce. I tried each of them and all were great and had their own unique taste. Chipotle White, PD BBQ, Korean BBQ, Carolina BBQ. The Korean BBQ was definitely my favorite. The chipotle white is kind of almost like a mayonnaise in my opinion. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The inside while definitely fresh and clean looking...it does have a sort of rustic, actual prohibition older type feel.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Would absolutely come back when in town again. Great overall experience here

First time experiencing Prohibition Dunedin & it was impressive!!! Our server, Emma greeted us upon entry and was great in helping with menu suggestions! Also consistently checking up on us to make sure we were doing well on our visit. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The entire restaurant had a cool vibe, nice atmosphere, especially with the Christmas decorations throughout the restaurant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Food was excellent in flavor, served hot and generous portions!!! Definitely looking forward to visiting again to try more items from their menu in addition to one of their desserts which all looked amazing!!! Kudos to the kitchen staff for doing an excellent job with the food & the servers that were very nice and efficient!!!

PD Burger -- sooooo good!

UPDATE 5/9/25... Came for my birthday tonight and invited a good friend to join us. We were running a little late and he had ordered the PD's Fallin Nachos with brisket as an appetizer for us all to share. WOW!!! Absolutely delicious -- I may get that as an entree next time. The brisket was in beautiful chunks all mixed through the nachos, and the Gouda cheese sauce and pico were like heaven on a plate! I got a side salad (LOVE their house-made ranch!) and the PD Burger again -- been dreaming about that amazing char-grilled flavor. Once again it didn't disappoint! I've had other friends come and have that burger since our original review, and all say it is the best burger they've ever had! My son got the BBQ combo meal and he was silent during dinner, because he was enjoying it so much! The ribs fall off the bone, and flavor is amazing! And our friend got the BBQ tacos and just gobbled them right up. Only thing he wasn't fond of was the rosemary fries -- that's ok, it was more for my wife and I to share! (She was full from her portion of the nachos, so don't order her own plate tonight). For desert we all shared a slice of the French Silk Pie and the Chocolate Dream Pie/Cake? Both were beautiful, rich, and decadent deserts. And of course I had to grab a free birthday cookie on the way out -- white chocolate macadamia, which I'm saving for tomorrow. If you haven't been yet, make plans NOW to try Prohibition Dunedin!

The sign they have in their parking lot

Food was so good! We had the Cuban egg rolls which are two egg rolls cut in half with diced pickles on top! For our entrees we had the brisket skillet, pork belly blt, and kids chicken fingers and fries! Probably some of the best fries I've ever had ! I loved the pork belly sandwich ! Brunch bottomless mimosas were so good too($20, if you drink 3 or more, it pays for itself) , a good balance of alcohol and juice ! I wish I could remember our waitresses name because she was awesome and was so sweet! [[HIGHLIGHT]]We ate outside since our son is autistic, sometimes noise can't affect him, but we were early enough for brunch it wasn't crowded ![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Update, still amazing and still not selling their sauce :'( sell me your chipotle sauce!!!! I usually get the Cobb salad now which has smoked chicken and burnt ends! I sub the cheese tho cuz I don't like smoked gouda. I don't even use their salad dressing, just the chipotle sauce over it. Definitely check out their desserts after too and get something to go, sooo yummy.

I was part of a group of 8 that went out to Prohibition last night for dinner. The waiter did an awesome job handling us. The interior was comfortable & like a barbecue joint. The menu does indeed have a lot of classic bbq dishes, like ribs & brisket. But I placed my aim on a Mediterranean Shrimp salad. The plate of greens came with Greek dressing, feta cheese, & fried artichokes. It was a tasty combination. I especially liked the seasoning rub on the shrimp. The rub tasted to me like Caribbean jerk seasoning, rather than anything Mediterranean, but still it worked. Overall Prohibition was fun to try.

Quirky local eatery with elevated bar bites and bbq food. Expect above average prices, but a good menu selection and great beer and mixed drinks. Love the long bar, as well as their outdoor seating area. Good service, good spot, wish there was a little more parking!

Kids brunch eggs and bacon

Yummy food. Was disappointed they didn't have the full menu for Sunday brunch. However the food was delicious and fresh. Shrimp and grits was beyond delicious and a very large portion

I could go on n on about this place. I have been here several times n it never fails me. Every time. Every food. Every drink. Every server. So very good!!

We werent hungry enough for their famous enormous Rapture sandwich, a super rich flavorful brisket cheesesteak creation. We went for Super delicious super crispy-crunchy large parmesan wings! The scrumptious juicy tender wings were perfect. We ate them seated on folding chairs at a shaded table under a huge colorful mural. Smiled all the way home. The weather wasn't the best and we had some time to kill, so we took the hour-and-a-half drive to St. Pete--and let me tell you, it did NOT disappoint. As soon as we stepped out of the car, the music alone set the tone for good vibes and a welcoming atmosphere. As we approached, there were a few people in line ahead of us, so we took our time looking over the menu. While we were deciding, you could hear the ding of DoorDash orders going off like crazy (definitely a good sign). When it was our turn to order, we were greeted by the owner and mastermind behind it all, Ray. Ray was very personable and outgoing, answering any questions we had and offering great suggestions. He was truly a jack of all trades and handled everything like a rockstar. While we waited, we sat at one of the wooden tables and chatted with other customers, who had nothing but great things to say. There was also a nice selection of drinks, ranging from soda and water to beer and even shots of tequila. To start, we ordered the Loaded Pulled Pork Fries. The pork was extremely tender and juicy, having been perfectly smoked for nine hours. It was served over a plethora of fries and topped with BBQ sauce and their house-made sauce. You definitely couldn't stop at just one bite--but we had to save room for more. First on our list was the famous Rapture Sandwich, which earned a solid five stars across the board. Made with shaved ribeye steak, bacon, pepper jack cheese, and Ubuntu's special house-made sauce on a pretzel bun, the flavors complemented one another perfectly. Unanimously, this was one of the best steak sandwiches we've ever had. Next up were the Garlic Parmesan Chicken Tenders, and OH MY--let me tell you! These tenders were chef's kiss. They were cooked to the perfect crispness, and the sauce was out of this world. I have never tasted garlic parm like this before. Honestly, this was one of my personal favorites. After that, we tried the Take a Bao sandwiches. You can choose between pork or dynamite chicken, and we went with the chicken. The bao buns were like biting into a cloud--they were unbelievably soft. The chicken was marinated flawlessly and topped with cilantro and black sesame seeds. Definitely a go-to item. Ubuntu also offers a variety of vegan options. The Impossible Empanadas were superb--you would never guess they were vegan. They were cooked to a golden brown, crispy, and full of flavor. If I didn't live in another state, I would have ordered one of everything on the menu to take home for everyone to try. I highly recommend making a stop at Ubuntu--trust me, you'll be glad you did. This place is truly off the charts! To the staff at Ubuntu, I wish you continued success and encourage you to keep striving for excellence.

But when I got there the prices were drastically higher. I had planned on the brisket plate but once there I was told it was $31 and there was no way I was paying that for BBQ for one person. Google had it listed for $18. Next was the ribs but that was $17 for 6 bones no sides. So I decided to go with a classic pulled pork sandwich which came with one side. Their recommendation was Mac n cheese so I went with that. Usually I love Baked Beans but with it being my first time I wanted to taste what people rave about. The man who took my order, not sure if he was the owner or not was very nice and accommodating. And I did mention the google discrepancy. Now here is where the one star comes in and this pains me because I hate giving 1star reviews especially in this case but the pulled pork had no flavor, the bbq sauce wasn't good, the Mac n cheese also not great. All was extremely subpar from a place that should specialize in BBQ then throw in the high prices there was nothing worth giving a better rating. Even with the Mac n cheese you could throw some small bits of brisket or ribs in it to give it that Smokey bbq flavor similar to how Sonny's has bits of meat in their baked beans. Truthfully I have never had BBQ that I didn't like until today. Usually there is good BBQ and great BBQ but sadly I've had better BBQ at Thanksgiving with Joe and his smoker. I was the only one there at 7pm on a Saturday but it's also not a restaurant so that could be why. I am confused about the good reviews and wonder if it's just locals hyping it up out of support. But for me, I've been writing fair, honest reviews for 15 years so if I write one it's going to be real. If this review helps you, great And if you are somebody who loves Reels BBQ then that's amazing and hope you continue to support this small business and they stay successful. Sadly for me it was a one and done
