They just opened recently today was my first visit. I sat at the bar and the service was fantastic. I had the grill chicken pasta. My food arrived quickly and good and hot. Of course being at that bar they've had a lot of people to wait own but they did not lack in service. I will definitely be coming back to this restaurant and recommend anybody in Athens to come try this great place. The wait time was long but it is long but is is for any new place here in Athens. This place is just not cutting it at this time. We have been here twice now. Both time was for lunch. Once during a weekday and once during a weekend. The problem is not the food but the service. The kitchen is just too slow. You cannot come here and get out it time. This weekend we had our order in by 1230 but did not get our food till 115. 3 hungry kids who ordered MAC and cheese, my wife ordered Chicken tenders and I had the fish tacos. Now I know they are busy but come on you can do better than this. The first lunch I had here was when they first opened up and I had to take my food to go as I was out of time for lunch by the time it came out. These guys are getting a lot of business regardless but they are in a highly competitive restaurant area and unless they can do a better job, they will likely not do well. read more

Long version: My sister and I placed a to-go order through Tyler (I believe?): cheese fries, steak (cooked medium-rare) and shrimp combo with a loaded baked potato and steamed broccoli, and half rack of ribs and chicken tenders combo with fries and southern green beans. After calling in the order, we were told it would take 15-20 mins for the order to be ready. I was told that the to-go order would be at the bar. I arrived at Cheddar's 15 mins after the order was placed. Parking was ample enough, albeit it was now around 1:45 and we had probably missed the main lunch rush timing. I was greeted by the hosts and pointed towards the bar. After paying for my order (~$35)- the price was all calculated correctly- I came home and noticed that they had incorrectly packaged my order by replacing my shrimp for ANOTHER half rack of ribs and not packaging my side order of broccoli at all. I called Cheddar's again to tell them of the mistake. Tyler had picked up my call again and apologized on behalf of the establishment for the incorrect order and offered for my missing items to be compensated next time I ordered from Cheddar's. I thanked Tyler and was happy to see that I would be compensated for my incorrect order. Regarding the food, every item was deliciously cooked! The steak was cooked medium rare as requested, and the ribs were so tender and easy to tear apart from the bone. The ribs were also 95+% meat meaning there were no large chunks of fat on the ribs The fries were golden and still warm. The nice outer crunch on the fries paired well with the soft inner potato of the thicker cut of fries. The batter on the chicken tenders was simple and light. It tasted as though sugar was added to the green beans, which my sister did not enjoy, but the green beans were still great to me. The portions seemed significantly larger than expected, and between my sister and me, we finished the steak, all but 1 chicken tender, a half rack of ribs, and sides. We had an entire half rack of ribs, cheese fries, and 1 chicken tender left. Overall, I enjoyed the food and was pleased with the customer service I had received along with the friendliness of the staff. I will definitely be ordering from Cheddar's again soon! read more

After eating here my buddy looked at me said this experience was a 8/10 and I couldn't agree more. Kayla our server was no doubt an experienced veteran, drinks and chips were refilled on notice and speaking of drinks the sweat tea here absolutely slaps! Ribs and sides here were good but don't get the sirloin. The steak was tougher than a bodybuilder, and I felt bad for my utensils. Sat down at the bar at 2pm on a Saturday 12/30. Decided to leave at 2:10 after the bartender completely ignored us, failing to take a drink order or even give us water. Should have known better from the beginning when we were greeted by him saying feel free to sit at any of the open booths or high tops...even though he had two open bar stools directly in front of his micros. He did manage to break glasses and take phone calls from employees while we were waiting though. So kudos to him being weeded off a 10 person bar. read more

We went on a Wednesday evening and I couldn't believe how many people were there! We waited less than 10 minutes and were seated by a very gracious hostess. Our server came promptly to get our drink orders and was very knowledgeable about the drink selections. Her service was excellent as was the food! I was so excited to learn that almost everything is made in house. We got the steak & ribs and were delighted with how wonderful they both were. My husband and I stopped in for dinner last night. We waited for about two minutes before a hostess showed up. It was another two minutes before she looked up and noticed we were standing there, then she looked irritated that we were there. No greeting, no smile. This rode hard, put up wet looking woman finally seated us and told us that it would be a while before a server would be with us because he was so busy. Our server looked sloppy and dirty, he mumbled so much that we didn't even catch his name. We had to ask for napkins, plates, and refills. Appetizer wasn't warm, my dinner tasted like it was soaked in salt. Main course took forever to come out. Litter on the floor. Server was good, but wasn't around a lot. We had to flag him down for a to go box and even then we barely got his attention. That being said, he was super considerate (even to special requests) and was super knowledgable about the menu. The food was fantastic and the portions were more than plenty. I like to go out to lunch during the work day so I usually have about an hour to go to a restaurant. After this last visit, I will never go during the lunch hour again. I got there just around 11:30 to avoid the big lunch rush and I knew what I wanted ahead of time so I could order as soon as possible. It didn't really help save on time because we sat at our table for a good 10 minutes before the waiter even came to take our drink order. It wasn't even that packed so I'm not sure why it took so long. It took even longer for the food to come so by the time it arrived, our lunch hour was almost up. Our waited barely came to check on us so we had to wait another long while before we could even ask for our checks and to-go boxes. At this point, we knew it would be awhile before he even came back with those so we were not happy with the incredibly slow service. It would not have bothered me as much if it were actually busy enough to warrant taking a little longer but it wasn't. It ended up being an hour and a half excursion, which to me seems a little ridiculous seeing as I have gone to plenty of restaurants over the lunch hour and can be in and out in less than an hour. Our server, Mary was very pleasant and the Bloody Mary was amazing. We were seated right away and they weren't very busy. Our server came right away for our drink orders and we received them very quickly. The issue came after placing our order. My salad came out quick, but swimming in dressing. We waited nearly an hour for our other food (which was strange since they weren't busy at all). When it came, I only got the soup from my order, not my half wrap. The soup was cold, so when the server brought my half wrap, I sent it back to be warmed. My half wrap that was suppose to come with lettuces, buffalo sauce, chicken, cheese and ranch only came with a cold chicken finger, buffalo sauce and cold cheese. Very disappointed this trip. Sat forever and saw all the servers standing around the hostess stand chatting and talking. Hostess never actually talked to us and actually threw the menus on the table before walking off. I called my food in at 6pm. They told me a 20 minute wait. Ok fine, normal wait time. So I go sit at the bar when I arrived at 6:15. Sat there, they took my name and made sure my order was placed. All of a sudden it's 6:50pm and I'm still sitting there at the bar, no one asked me anything. I guess me sitting there for 30 minutes was normal to them. I gave it until 7:05pm and just walked out. Called another restaurant while walking out, places my order, and got TLALOC instead. Way better food and cheaper might I add lol. This place is slow!!! Came here for lunch on February 9th with my brother. Seated as soon as we walked in at a booth. My brother ordered the Onion Rings as an appetizer which were great with their selection of 2 sauces. I ordered a steak that was meant to be medium, but it was a bit underdone that had to be sent back. I also received gravy on my mash potatoes when I didn't ask for any. When I got the steak cooked more, it was tough, very dry, and somewhat flavorless. They server was kind enough to give us to go drinks and to go sauces for our left over onion rings. I would not recommend the steak, but the onion rings were great! read more

It was a late dinner and we knew it was a risk walking in 15 minutes before closing but to our surprise EVERYONE treated us with top QUALITY service as a we would expect in a 5 STAR restaurant. No attitudes or crazy glances because they were ready to go home, nothing. The place was quiet, clean and comfortable, the greeter, our waitress Anesha and the manager were EXCELLENT. Our food was THE BEST. No old, stale or leftovers from earlier. My medium well steak was cooked perfectly along with my ribs, sweet potato and broccoli casserole. My husband enjoyed his ribs, sweet potato, mac'n'cheese and grilled shrimp over rice. Everything was fresh, piping hot and well seasoned. I didn't even need steak sauce because it was so juicy & flavorful. Thanks so much for great customer service. We travel a lot and finding both a great restaurant with good food AND service is rare. I live in Atlanta and was so excited to find out that we have a Cheddars in Georgia. Although it's not around the corner I thought it would be worth the two hour round trip drive. I went on a Friday night with some girl friends after work so by the time we got there we were starving. I ordered the cheese dip and the Wisconsin cheddar bites as appetizers. A few minutes later the waitress let us know they were out of marinara for the cheddar bites and asked if we still wanted them; we declined. Then we order our food I ordered nachos and requested to leave the beef and chicken off. I wanted everything else on them. Our cheese dip came out and 2 minutes later the food came out. I noticed they didn't put the beans on my nachos. The waitress said she would have them remade. So at this point it was frustrating, but I was trying to enjoy myself since I was with friends I don't see often and we had driven so far. I waited patiently for my nachos to be remade. One of my friends also never received her mashed potatoes. She asked the server about them and the server said they are made from scratch so they take awhile. Hmmmm is the other food not made from scratch and even if that's the case everything should come out at the same time. Everyone finished their food and got their to-go containers and the mashed potatoes and nachos finally came. The nachos were chips with cheese a couple of beans and they threw some lettuce on top. They didn't put the sour cream, the jalapeños, or anything else that was supposed to be on them. At this point I feel it's time to involve a manager. The manager apologized and gave us some credit on the bill and some return vouchers. Honestly I doubt I will use them. It was the worst dining out experience I have ever had. We came here for the first time and I should have known there would be an issue. The booth they gave us had a severe tear in the cushion. We ordered the Chicken Pot Pie, with a house salad. The salad had bagged carrot slivers and artificial cheese pieces. Salad dressing was in a small container and not enough to cover the salad. The pot pie should have been called chicken hash. It had no chicken chunks, only shredded chicken and there was no gravy. Service was marginal, though pleasant. Came here for Saturday lunch with hubby. My coworker had been raving about this place, so when we were in Athens visiting my in-laws, we stopped by. We each got drinks, which were very yummy. I got the Painkiller, and hubby got a piña colada. He ordered an app, I think fried shrimp? I got the New Orleans pasta, which was okay. I'm Cajun and we don't typically use pasta in our food, so I wasn't expecting authenticity. I was hoping for good taste though, like the Pasta Mardi Gras at Pappadeaux. It fell way short of expectations, hardly any shrimp and mostly pasta. Our server was nice, and we didn't have to wait for a table. We might come back for drinks, but not for the food.
