This was my first time trying this food truck at Checkpoint 221 and the smell coming out the window alone should convince you to eat here. Menu had a ton of tasty looking options but the chicken saj plate was the right call. Enough salad veggies to feel moderately healthy, enough fries to hit the spot and flatbread wrap with amazing sauce and tender chicken. It had 4 big pieces so I brought some home and even leftover it was a hit. Service was excellent as well, personable and pleasant. Highly recommend!

New, Clean, spacious with a decent variety of food carts. Just to be clear I don't enjoy writing bad reviews and truly don't intend to hurt a business but as a consumer I want to help others not waste their hard earned money or their time like I do from time to time. With that, this was my first time here and I'm sure I'll be back to try some of the other options but I will not be ordering from the Philly cheese steak cart. As you can see from the picture my Philly was loaded with,...... steak! Yea right. I pulled about half the onions off my sandwich after the first bite was a mouth full of onions, not the mention the mediocre bun and flavorless beef. I mean I don't think they used salt or pepper when they cooked it. Also the cheese was definitely not of the wiz variety which if I'm not mistaken that's what makes a Philly a Philly?? It was some flavorless white cheese in the shape of provolone but literally had no flavor. 14$ for 1.5oz of beef and half of a large grilled diced onion. I won't be doing that again and I would highly recommend you don't either.

Newest food truck pod with indoor and outdoor seating (plenty of shade). Ive tried a few of the offerings with mixed results. There are limited vegetarian choices and except for The Salty Shack, which I do not recommend, there are no fish or shrimp choices if you are pescatarian. I had high hopes for The Salty Shack, but it is pricey for what you get and the clam chowder is just terrible. La Argentina has a very yummy Caprese empanada which I do recommend! Quesadilla Wizzards no longer has any vegetarian choices, which is a shame because I think they have quality ingredients and a good origin story, and cheesy veggie quesadillas are easy to make. Today I ordered a pesto and tomato grilled cheese and sweet potato fries from Carver's Diner - The fries were excellent, A+ fried to perfection, perfectly seasoned, and hot. I am definitely coming back for another order of these! The grilled cheese was less than expected, kinda soggy, kinda bland. Finally, cheers to the Checkpoint 221 bartender who was friendly and hard-working.

    Some of the food carts.

Every kind of food imaginable is available and a great setting for eating. Good for families, good for singles.

The food trucks are all great. Their trash cans are a bit out of the way when eating outside. Parking is always easy

Had the sushi and chicken cart and both were good! Drinks are a fair price especially for having live music and a good environment

We ordered: The Pickle Gambit, Country Mac's Cajun Mac & Cheese, Mac's Famous Mac & Cheese, & the Cinnamon Roll Beignets. The pickle spears were lightly, yet crunchily breaded & piled high on a plate with yummy, dilly ranch & a second slightly smoky dipping sauce. Both Mac's featured perfectly-cooked shell noodles & decadent cheese sauce! The "reg" Mac had hearty chunks of bacon & fresh basil ribbons. The Cajun Mac was SUPER flavorful & had andouille sausage bites & VERY moist chicken tenders. The beignets were pillowy-soft & served with an amazing cinnamon sugar cream cheese drizzle.

We decided to try the Nashville chicken breast with hot chili oil on the side. I'm a bit of a wimp when it comes to spicy. I also ordered the lemon poppy seed slaw. Our friends got the salmon Chowdah and also some spicy chicken with Cajun fries. They remarked that the salmon chowder pronounced Chowdah looked to be quite thick and was very flavorful. I gotta say it was some of the best fried chicken I ever sampled. The slaw was very tasty as well. Great combination of savory and sweet. My daughter and I split an order of chicken as we wanted to sample the beignets. We ordered the Killa bees and they came out fluffy and hot with a very nice honey drizzle. Ryan also gifted us with a second order of beignets of our own choosing, and we asked for the Good God Lemon ones, and they were very sweet and tangy. For the five of us the bill came to right around a hundred dollars which being from California I found very reasonable. It's a small place, and you order first at the counter and then go and find a table. If you are looking for some very tasty chicken this side of Nashville you should stop by and order some at this unique place in Salem Oregon.

The stark difference in our second experience was night and day, making this visit truly exceptional. The cozy and romantic aesthetic of the restaurant remains fantastic, and the food and drink menu is still absolutely amazing. This time, however, we had the pleasure of being seated downstairs in Tiffany's section, and she was beyond stellar. Tiffany is the definition of exceptional service. She gave us a complete, helpful rundown of how they structure their tapas menu, offered fantastic recommendations, and was incredibly attentive throughout the evening. We had a great time chatting with her and her professionalism and warmth instantly made our return worthwhile. Her suggestions were perfect--she expertly helped us select a great wine and recommended the black ink pasta, which was a showstopper. Cozy Taberna, when paired with service like Tiffany's, is easily a 5-star restaurant. From now on, we will only return if we can be seated in her section!

Y E L P : Fork Forty Food Hall Restaurant & Food Review…read more Ventured to Fork Forty Food Hall for lunch yesterday for the first time and I was pleasantly surprised. As food halls are all the craze, it was pretty cool to learn that Fork Forty is Salem's first food hall. It is a cozy food hall featuring six of Salem's best eateries in the historic Gray-Building - which I also learned is a building that has a long history of eateries that have occupied its spaces over the years. So, it's only natural that this food hall graced this historic building. What a unique legacy to be a part of. All that Google-worthy factoids aside, I must say, I really loved the industrial feel of the space. Loved the use of blacks and white - which allowed the food vendors signage to really stand out and pop against the darker field colors. Also, the food hall itself wasn't too busy - especially for lunchtime. So, that was great because the wait time for the food was minimal. The food hall was lively, clean and had ample seating. There is a water station with cups for patrons that want water only. There's also a bar within the food hall - so, if you wanted some libations with your eats, that was also an option. All in all, it's a great spot with various cuisines. There's enough to tickle your fancy pending what you have a taste for. Some of the cuisines range from Mexican, Asian, and Mediterranean cuisine to name a few. I opted for the Mexican vendor, Suzy's Taqueria, and I am so happy I went with them because they did not disappoint. The food was fresh and the price point was great!! Very affordable lunch prices. (**Visit Suzy's Taqueria page to see my review on their street tacos.**) Since this is a food hall, I didn't really interact with the staff as much. My order was placed at a kiosk - which had no wait time. Once my order was placed, the wait for the tacos to prepared was less than 10 minutes. The server brought them out to my table - which was my only interaction with the staff. So, that's about as much as I can speak on that. However, all interactions, though minimal, were very pleasant. For a first visit, I was pleased. I will definitely visit again before my departure from Salem to try out the bao spot or the pizzeria. Also, the history of it, is pretty cool!
