2 stars for the location. 5 stars for the Checkers franchise and food. Checkers is awesome. It has great food that surpasses the McDonalds and Burger Kings that mindless zombies goes too, it's cheap as dirt, and the service is speedy and decent. This particular Checkers however, while its the closest one to us, is at a gritty and questionable neighborhood. If you live around the Valley Stream area and you have a craving for delicious meaty treats that only Checkers can fulfill try going to the Baldwin, Hempstead, or East Meadow ones. If you really don't have the time then don't linger in this location. Just get your food and go. My bf and I were at the take out window waiting on line to place our order. This unkempt crackhead looking woman went up to my bf and started talking to him. My bro-in-law had seen her dancing in front of Checkers when we were parking. Their conversation went something like this: Sketchy Lady: Buy me a drink! I'll give you the money! Adam V: Why don't you buy your own? Sketchy Lady: You think Ima CRIM-NAALL?! Buy me a drink! Adam V: No. Sketchy Lady: Use your credit card. I'll give you money. How much is a drink? AdamV: A value drink is $1.00 Sketchy Lady: I want a large drink! Buy me a drink! You think I'm a crim-nal?! It's not the best Checkers experience I've had, but it's not bad either. The location is sort of stupid because it is in a shopping center, and coming in/out of the parking lot to get to the sectioned off Checkers lot is not so straight-forward (literally). Also, the neighborhood isn't the best. (Not the worst either, but the bank next door has bullet-proof glass in front of the tellers, for example). Fast service, great 2-for deals all the time, and tasty food. If you've never been to a Checkers before, I'm sorry for you. This has to be the best fast-food burger on Long Island. Compares to In-N-Out Burger, but with more options on the menu. These burgers actually have meat on them, fresh vegetables, and good sized pieces of bacon (if you order them with bacon, of course). I haven't felt the need to step out of line and leave a Checkers yet. They're attentive to the customer IN the store, just as much as the customer in their car. You know what i mean? Sometimes you go into a typical fast food joint, and there's 4 employees working 1 drive-thru window, and no one cares about the 10 people waiting in line! -- I've not experienced anything like that at a Checkers yet. I personally don't eat Checkers anymore, but my friends seem to love it. This location is open late and the customer service was amazing compared to dusty Wendy's up the block lol. I also find their drive thru really cute with the old school feel. Checkers is one of the few places that still has coupons lol. After being on the receiving end of one of the cutest smiles of all time, I realized that the order/pickup windows are switched here; yes, I'm THAT guy who walks in to Checkers (and its competitors) and then has the gall/gaul to use free shake coupons and order no food, challenging mores and ordering less. ('Ey, the Eastern European couple ahead of me ordered '2 chicken breast sandwiches' - good luck with that literally happening - so I'd rather know what to expect than to be let down). Rude employees needs retraining. Asked for a refund because she complain to friends that we asked for a 10 piece which we actually wanted the 5 piece boneless wings. We heard the whole thing. Ask for the manager and she refused for a while saying the money is back on your card. They gave me a receipt saying 0.00. Finally the someone claiming to be manager or supervisor came. Absolutely terrible service was told to wait about three times before I can order. Then when I did order employees was rude and disrespectful as well as making me rush while I had to wait. This place was so addicting that I placed a personal bet with a family member to not eat here for a year. I won the bet, however, after that year I constantly come back to Checkers. The Big Buford is my favorite burger, fries are great but not what they used to be. The 2 for $4 or $5 deals are great especially the spicy chicken sandwiches. read more

I visited the Catonsville location. We needed some time to order cause we aren't familiar with menu being as tho we don't go to checkers. Young lady repeated order and still missed items and we still didn't receive all our food. Once we got home we realized there were some items missing. I called location 8 times to speak to a manger. Before I knew of Joe's, or dreamt about In-N-Out, Checkers was my favorite place for a burger and loaded fries. I love their milkshakes the most, theyre the only fast food place I know of with banana milkshakes. Tip: ask them to do half banana/half chocolate. so it does indeed say in many reviews that the customer service was horrible so my expectations for this place were already low. but i just came for junk food. i pull ul to the drive thru and this lady says something unintelligible and i say what was that? and she scoffs and says how can i help you with a major attitude. so i proceed to order and i pull up to the window and she hands me my loaded apple pie shake. i ask for a spoon and she turns away and closes the window before i can even open my mouth. she comes back with my food and i ask again for a spoon and she goes you don't have a spoon?? scoffs again and hands me one as she's taking someone else's order. basically what i expected from this establishment. and i can forgive that so long as i get my food. what i wasn't expecting was to find a HAIR IN MY MILKSHAKE!!! first off i needed a compass and a metal detector just to find the apple pie bits and when i did i found the hair. i would go in and complain but given the horrible customer service i got for no reason i can only imagine my complaint will go nowhere. never eating at this checkers location again. read more

Love their french fries! Perfect seasoning. I would go here just for those. The burgers are ok. They have plenty of variety like onion rings on a burger and bbq sauce and so on. There is always a specialty burger or chicken sandwich on the menu everytime I go it seems. There are many places to get better food but sometimes you just wanna get some burgers and sit in your car. Checkers Myrtle Beach / Surfside Beach, SC Location: We ate at Checkers today for the very first time and we all were completely UNDERWHELMED & wondered why in the world they thought they needed to expand to Myrtle Beach. I can name at least a dozen different Burger joints in Myrtle Beach which are all better than Checkers. The Burger was below average, The Chicken Wings were below average as well and the Fries (overly seasoned) were nothing to write home about at all.
