We got the beef and chicken empanadas. The chicken was good and the beef was great! We also had a pizza. It was a thick soft dough with almost no pizza sauce and a lot of cheese. It was also good, but think more of a cheesy bread than a pizza. We had the banana dulce de leche and apple empanadas. The banana empanada was SOOOO delicious! We will be back to eat soon! read more

Excellent Argentine food tucked away in an unassuming office/strip center in the heart of Tomball. This little restaurant packs a big punch of South American flavors in the way of homemade empanadas, milanesa (think schnitzel), argentinian dishes and lots of grilled beef. The staff is exceptionally pleasant and helpful, and makes great recommendations for appetizers, delicious espressos, and meals. My children loved the surprisingly delicious pizza, and my wife devoured her empanadas. Her favorite was the ground beef and potato blend. I enjoyed the 3 cheese empanadas. The milanesa was very flavorful, and the meat was thin and tender. Overall, this is an excellent change-of-pace in an area that is filled with great American style foods. This little gem was amazing! Wife and I had a date night and wanted something we hadn't been too before. This place didn't disappoint!! Food was fantastic!! We ordered a 1/2 dozen different kinds of empanadas and they were awesome!! I had the filet mignon topped with two fried eggs and the wife had the skirt steak, both amazing! My husband and I love trying new restaurants and this one did not disappoint. The restaurant is very clean, and the customer service is amazing. The food is to die for! I ordered the chicken chipotle empanadas, and my husband had the spicy criolla empanadas and both were so good we ended up taking some home. Overall the food was delicious and the decor was cute. Seemed like a mom and pa shop. We did get to speak with the owner a little since he did not speak English but my sister in law spoke with him. Found Che Gaucho while visiting family during the holidays, thanks to a recommendation from friends. We ordered a mix of many different empanadas and found them all to be incredible. They offer everything from chili hotdog to more traditional fillings. It also may seem like a small detail, but I really appreciate that they stamp the filling on each. This really makes it easier when sharing and to find your favorite. We also really enjoyed the sauces/oils available at the table. We even bought some chimichurri to bring home with us. I stopped in for a quick lunch to go. First off I'd like to say that their front staff during lunch time is clueless about the menu. The reason why I'm giving them 3 stars does not go with the taste of the food, but the staffs unwillingness to know their specials to offer their customers. I ordered 2 different kinds of empanadas and a beverage to go. The taste of the empanadas were delicious and were packed in a sweat friendly container. The empanadas are the size of a true Argentinian empanada, don't be fooled that because it's located in Texas - that they'll have a Texas size empanada. That being said each empanada is a smaller size, so make sure to get plenty to share. They're a bit pricey at $2.50 a piece, but during lunch they do have specials that add a beverage with the empanadas. I'll try them again, but will make sure to ask for specials first from a more knowledgeable staff member. read more

Took the family to Che Gaucho last night. This was our first visit but definitely not our last. Food was excellent. Server was patient and very helpful. We started with the provoleta which came to the table piping hot in a small skillet. For our main course my wife had the bife de lomo and it was very tender and perfectly seasoned. My daughter had an assortment of empanadas. There was one she didn't care for but she is a very finnicky eater. I finished it and enjoyed it. My son had the lomito completo sandwich and he hardly said a word until it was completely devoured. I had the milanesa de carne with a side of asparagus. The melanesa was tender and very good. My wife and I both had house salads which had a nice mix of spinach and other greens. For desert we had the banana dulce de leche empanada, duraznos crema y dulce de leche, and tiramisu. Cute little place, the empanadas very good but pricey and small, really friendly staff and they have several items on the menu, we tried the ham, cheese and pineapple empanada, the picadillo, the spinach, the ground beef and the chicken, out favorite was the ground beef empanada, we also tried the potato/ carrot salad which was ok,my daughter has a regular pepperoni pizza it was normal, we didn't really eat just went to grab a bite with a coffee and and dulce de leche ice cream a little tiny ball of it for $4 dollars, we end it up paying $57 dollars for 5 empanadas, 1 kid pizza, 1 soda and coffee and the tiny ice cream cup. It was my second time time coming here, first time I had empanadas to go and this last time I decided to take my family for dinner but we were not really happy impressed for the price we paid. read more

I got lost finding this place it's adjacent Nicks Market in the plaza, they need a bigger sign. It's very small dining area the kitchen is to the left. I met up with a friend and it was my first Argentinian Food experience. They have quite the menu and so I started off with the empanadas they really small just an FYI. I ordered the ham and cheese and spinach and cheese. They looked very delicate and they very good. For my main course I ordered the skirt steak and asked for medium, my sides were green salad and rusa salad ( their version of potato salad) it was not bad just needed a little bit of seasoning. Once our dinner arrives my steak looked and smelled amazing. The drawback was it was over cooked, with skirt and flank the key is not to overcook it because it gets tough to cut and chew. My friend got the flank and her was thicker and also over cooked. The flavor was very good though just lots of chewing, the chimichurri sauce was amazing. Once we were done we ordered dessert and I don't remember the name of mine but it was a croissant filled with caramel creme dulce de Leche or something. It was very good and just the right size. Overall it was a good dining experience,they need to invest into some better ventilation system. The next day even my handbag smells like the restaurant. It was stuffy inside they had a box fan blowing. When I settled my check I saw how clean the kitchen was, that's the way every restaurants kitchen should appear. read more

It was our first time ordering delivery via UberEats from Che Gaucho's and they did not disappoint. The empanadas were amazing! The spicy ground beef were my favorite and my husband loved the chicken but you cannot go wrong with any of them. The chimichurri sauce was so delicious that I had to order their custom made jars of both the original and verde. Great customer service too. I didn't see the jars of chimichurri on the menu when I ordered on UberEats so I called the restaurant and they were happy to ring me up separately for the jars and were kind enough to send it with my delivery order. Love this place. Frequent visitors from the begining. The food is fabulous and authentic. Chimichurri is unparalled. The owner is gracious and remembers our drink preferences. Our "go to " is 12-24 empanadas, mixed variety. My favs, corn mushroom and mixed veggies. These are the BOMB !! I savored every dish I have ordered. We visit 6-8 times/year. Family visited Che Gaucho for the first time last night. We had been wanting to try out some authentic Argentinian food for a while so we're very excited. On a whole the experience was good, but the food was fantastic. It took a while to get our waters and order placed, but after that everything went smoothly. If I was to rate the food alone - 5 stars easy! The empanadas were small, so they work more like appetizers or small bites. The argentine sausage sandwich was amazing - fresh bread, great flavor, and the chimichurri sauce was amazing!! I don't think I'd come here with the kids again, but will definitely be placing pick up orders for when I come home via Tomball :) read more

Second try, still a "no" from me. We went to Che Gaucho when it first opened and they didn't have air conditioning. The ambience was lacking and the food was...okay. seeing that it is (somewhat surprisingly) still open, we decided to give it another shot. The wait was a bit long considering there was an open and available table. They were short-staffed. The waitress had some difficulty understanding me, so I switched to Spanish. She didn't seem to like that (although she clearly understood me better, she still responded in English). As a result, she got our order wrong, just a bit. We ordered a dozen empanadas for the family, and they were SO SMALL. They were also difficult to identify what was what. Not even the wait or could figure them out. They fet stamped with a letter or two, but there is no legend to decipher the code. There was so little filling, and the chopped beef was half-gristle that was inedible and had to be spit out. Because they were so small and expensive we didn't want to order more to fill us up. So we passed by McDonald's on the way home (yuck) and some of us ate cereal at home to fill up. If you are looking for empanadas, this is not the place I'd recommend. The best we've had has 2 locations and is "the Original" on Westheimer & in Katy. Last note - the A/C now exists, but struggles to keep a comfortable temperature inside the restaurant, and the booth seethe felt like they back was going to break off. I felt every movement of the guy behind me on the other table. I wanted to like it, but we won't be back. read more

This review is mainly based on bringing uncooked empanadas home and trying to cook them. I asked the kind lady at the counter about that and she said people do it but their ovens at the store get hotter so I should turn mine as high as I can to cook them. Well they mostly exploded and oozed all over the place. If staff can reply to this on proper way to cook at home that'd be great. I did one ham and cheese empanada to eat in the car though and it was great, flaky and cheesy inside, not soggy and leaky like mine so I know they're good! The chimichurri is also awesome! The ones I tried to cook at home were Hawaiian, spicy Saltena, chili cheese dog, and Italian. The spicy Saltena did end up coming out the best, least exploded, and most filled, and it was awesome, I'm thinking I'll only want those for the future! read more
