I have driven passed this place a million times but just never stopped. It appears to be, and is, a hotel /spa/ horse arena/ restaurant. I just felt like maybe I didn't belong. Lord was I wrong. It was 8:30 Friday night and my wife called to make sure they were open. They said they didn't close until 9:00 and for us to come on. We ended up staying until about 10:15pm, but they were thankful for our business. Its a really neat drive into the entrance, which is beautiful. We walked in, were immediately greeted and seated in a beautiful table for two. The ambiance is ornate, yet cozy. The bartender/ manager was friendly, attentive and informative. We ordered a "small" charcuterie to get started. My only complaint is that it was huge and delicious. Anything but "small". We then shared a salad, which was absolutely delicious and fresh. Then we shared a filet. It was perfectly prepared, and the sides were delicious. The prices were extremely reasonableFilet. Again, the bartender/ manager was attentive and friendly throughout. This just may be our new go to place, and I wont have to go to that ridiculously horrible 2920 Roadhouse anymore! read more

Wish I could give no stars. This is a terrible restaurant. Terrible service. Food took forever -- and it was cold. Never got waters refilled once. Only one wait staff was in the restaurant and she was on her phone hiding behind cash register. There was one other table. It was weird. The appetizers were not great -- the dips were tiny portions and they were weird flavors. The guacamole bruschetta was good. The coconut fried shrimp was ok. The side of salad was very good - it had mayo and grapes. My green enchiladas were disgusting. Way too citrusy. The tortillas were terrible and the black beans turned out to be refried beans -- and they were out of jalapeños? At least the waitress took off the $10 enchiladas bec I didn't eat them -- the cheese had that look of melting and then getting cold and being gross. read more

I don't know how to review this place, so ill write it out. I am reviewing te restaurant only, since other reviews may have been part of wedding parties. First, the atmosphere and ambiance is 5 star all day, but unfortunately it ends there. My Wife and I went on a short date night. Our wait staff was extremely friendly, but the waitress did not understand English. I know some Spanish and was not offended, so I asked which was better or "mas mejor?" Beef or chicken fajitas. She said "mix is good" so we got it. It was huge, beef, chicken, plus sausage and short ribs. Our bill for this plate was $45, instead of $30 for 2. I got it settled, ends up "mix" has ribs and sausage, which were way left field for that plate. Those two were awful on a tortilla with fajita fixings. The beef fajitas were marinated very strangely. The chicken was bland, the ribs were burnt, sausage was greasy. It was not all bad, they tried so hard to be good, too hard. Other notes....The salsa was absolutely awful, so many ingredients that it was left field. Chili con queso took forever, it was microwaved HEB velveeta. The red, green, and white tortilla chips were nice. The margarita I had and the mango margarita my wife had were outstanding! Very low alcohol but very fresh tasting and fruity. I think the chef is over thinking the food recipes. I want to like this place but they must overhaul the flavoring and communication. I spent about $80 for this date night, and frankly, we could have gone to Willowbrook and a Pappasitos and get much better quality. I wish the best for them, just not worth it until I see improved reviews. read more

My review is for brunch only. Let me start by saying the atmosphere, decor, and overall feeling here is amazing. It truly could be the place to take your out of town guests for an amazing brunch experience. A couple things need to happen here first unfortunately. 1. The "buffet" menu really means that you can order any a la carte item on the menu, as many times as you want, for $40. It would be better if you had the choice to choose normal menu items rather than only having the option for the $40 buffet. 2. It's not clear whether or not mimosas or bloody marys are included in the $40, but for the price, i think a carafe of mimosas or two bloody marys would be appropriate. 3. There was no drink menu. People love to drink at brunch. 4. There was only one "Latin American" item on the menu, which was very good. Need more Latin dishes for sure. The patio is gorgeous and the dining area very welcoming, but there are probably only 15 total tables. The server was very attentive and did his best to cover the whole dining room and patio. This could be a lot of work with people ordering a menu item every few minutes. All in all, the place could be great with a few tweaks. read more

I have been told that often only complainers give reviews. This must be the case for Haras because we had a great experience. The food was excellent, the menu was much more extensive than on-line, prices were reasonable and the service was excellent. The poblano pepper chicken soup was really good and we enjoyed the chip and dip appetizer as well as the salads. Everything was freshly prepared and the margaritas were also good. We will go back and try other things on the menu. Overall it was a great experience and a horse show was going on at the time. Do not let the negative reviews keep you from trying this place. It was a quinciañera party I went to, and the service was barely there, unfortunately, it started raining most of the people were arranged in a salon but the adult table had to be moved about 3 times. I would give my opinion about the food but there wasn't any. The service for drinks was just awful. I got to say though, the restrooms were squeaky clean and the place is gorgeous. Love the beautiful drive to get to this location , it's beautiful indoors and out . Walk around and see as much of it as you can. I believe some of the owners live in Mexico City and the chef is from South America ... I might not be precise about those locations but the horsey flair definitely comes from those regions. Service was wonderful. They showed me a beautiful suite while I was there for dinner. The restaurant is beautiful and tiny and intimate. The atmosphere in this place gives the false impression of good service. Tonight it earned a zero star rating but I give it two stars only because the food (when finally served) was very good. I agree with all of the comments in other reviews about terrible service. It's like these people have no understanding of how to treat customers. No one visited our table for ten minutes so I got up and asked a waiter to take our drink order. We got our drink 20 minutes later and one was just a bottle of beer. After we finished our drinks, they sat forever. I finally stopped a waiter and asked her to remove them, no inquiry if we wanted another so my wife had to call after her that she would like to order another drink. The waitress yelled back to confirm but, because I did not yell, I went without. As we sat there, we realized none of the 16 people in the restaurant had any food in front of them. When the food finally came, my grilled tilapia (ordered from the menu) was actually batter-fried(?) My wife's chicken salad had greens but no dressing and no chicken. My daughter's fries were cold. My fish was hot so I had to eat it while my wife sat there. Although we again flagged down a waiter to expedite the situation, I still had finished my dinner before my wife's full order came. We flagged down the manager who explained that they were understaffed tonight and if we wanted to come back another time, they would not discriminate against us (his words). He said they would give us a discount for our meal and he was working on improving his waiters and waitresses. He also emphasized that we were only a three-top table and they had two other larger parties. It was one of the worst conversations with a manager we've ever had. The whole ordeal lasted for more than two hours. Avoid this place unless you have no other place to go or if you have plenty of time and no expectations of service. read more

The service is horrible!!! We went to watch a horse show and thought let's stop for coffee and food. It took forever......when we both ordered a bowl of soup waitress couldn't remember my friends order. The waitress comment was that's it....yes all we wanted was soup. My soup was cold!! No clean plates, only 1 glass to use for water and mimosa, no salt and pepper on the table and had to ask for coffee, water and plain orange juice. This place is a hidden gem. It is very romantic and quiet. I would recommend going on there still a little light so you can enjoy the beautiful grounds after you place your order. While waiting on food you can walk around. We were offered a complimentary champagne. The host was very informative and accommodating. Very disappointed. I will say that the atmosphere was awesome and it was a beautiful day. The fruit and mimosa carafe on the table was a good start. Unfortunately, that's where it ended. We had hunt the waiters down for everything including water because mimosas are useless to people who don't drink alcohol. Since nobody came to the table, we had no idea the food had been put out. The food was not good and not at all what was advertised on the menu (seriously). What we had breakfast sausage, salmon, sliced potatoes, dry spinach ravioli of some sort, empanadas, pancakes, sad salad and a basket of bread that I over heard one guest saying she saw them opening up bags from a Walmart brand and dumping in the bread basket. Desert was just these little pastry donuts and I saw churros out a little later. No clean plates were offered and I had to get some from a girl I saw exiting the kitchen with a stack and brought a few back for my table. I was excited to see Lobster Bisque advertised but couldn't find it anywhere and when I asked a waiter, he said he didn't know. A manager of some sort came over to talk to us and when my dad expressed his concerns he told him that he had to ask for things that weren't set out. I don't know how you ask for a carving station but sure whatever. I might not have been quite as disappointed if it wasn't $50 per person (I'd say it was worth $15) and if my parents hadn't driven in from Louisiana for what I thought was going to be a fun experience at a new place. Like my dad said, he could have gone to Fogo and been overwhelmed with the yummy food and filled water glasses for $50 per person. Basically, I think they were too consumed with atmosphere and making it look like a Pinterest party rather than providing a good meal and good service. We will not be returning. Sometimes you come across a restaurant that has bad customer service but at least good food. Well this has both, bad food and the worst customer service. The manager Jose was extremely rude, and the actual day of the Mother's Day brunch the few staff that was there, because they don't have many people working, had no idea what they were doing. You would ask something and they had no idea. Now let's get to the food: it's not disgusting but it's not good either, it's blah. Nothing special about it, especially for the price. There are way better brunches for that price. I honestly didn't look online to see the menu but several people mentioned that what was put online was not being served. The three times I have been there for dinner the food and service have been outstanding. The décor and restaurant are everything that you will expect of a boutique restaurant. My personal favorites appetizers are the crab cakes, empanadas and the small prosciutto with cheese sampler, this toped with the main course coffee and cocoa filet. There is also a really nice red wine selection. I'm really looking forward on the Sunday brunch, this should be the perfect place to spend a Sunday afternoon with the family, there is plenty of space for the kids to run around, plus they get to see those magnificent horses they have in the stables and in training. read more

I was the organizer of the party of 18 with Heidi F. While she has some valid points, there were also some things that she didn't realize. Our original reservation was for 13 and one was added earlier in the day and 4 more were added a half hour before we arrived. They graciously tried to accommodate us by adding another table in our private room instead of telling us that we couldn't add any more. Some of the additional folks to our party were young children which made the private room an added benefit. The restaurant is not one for kids, but they made accommodations for us like making homemade macaroni/cheese and lemonade, both which the waiter brought promptly. As a plus the kids loved the chocolate cake! There were food substitutions made but it was later explained that their kitchen was not quite fully operational and supplied due to recent flooding in the area. They only opened a few days earlier due to the flooding. I think that some thought that they got the wrong meal due to the food side dish substitutions rather than actually getting the wrong meal. I should have explained to my party better that this restaurant is not run like a short order kitchen but everything is prepared fresh. That is why they have you order first before you take a tour of their beautiful grounds and horses. Their internet was very slow (due to floods again) which did cause a delay in the check out process. I have no doubt that all of these items will be remedied soon. Most importantly, I would like to address the fake fingernail incidence. The owner was mortified that this had occurred and he came over and sincerely apologized for it. What Heidi probably didn't realize is the fact that he very quickly compensated the offended party with a very generous voucher for future service and also offered to give each of the other payees a $50 voucher which we thought was unnecessary since many were from out of town. Unfortunately things like this happen occasionally as with other things in life. I always found soap and paper towels in the bathroom, though they were on the low side. Lastly, our large party did consume 6 bottles of wine which made up a large portion of the bill so $1100 wasn't unduly expensive for 18 people. This is my third visit to the restaurant and I plan on coming back again!!! read more

Worst experience ever!!!! The place had a bad vibe, the food was horrible, and their staff were very disorganized. You would ask them something and they looked clueless. They did not serve what they had on their menu online. It definitely was not worth $58!!!! And trust me we were not the only ones complaining. With all this said we will not be coming back to any event this place has and I do not recommend this place to anyone. We have eaten here many times and always had a lovely experience. Experience is the key word here. This is not a place to eat if you are in a rush. It is a place to come enjoy the beautiful surroundings and check out the gorgeous horses. The kitchen is small so meals take a bit longer. Place your order, get your cocktail and stroll the grounds and barns. Then come back and enjoy wonderful food! I've never had a bad entree here! My husband loves the duck! The guacamole is excellent, the steaks first rate! We brought a large group for Sunday Brunch a few weeks ago. We chose to eat family style and let Jose, the manager choose our dishes. We were not disappointed! Everyone in our group was amazed at the variety! The amount of food that was served was very generous, the price more than fair. Delicious food and cocktails, great service, and a wonderful ambience and locale! The chips trio and salsa were a great way to start the evening. Wife had the Mexico City Street Tacos as an entree, and I had the fajita steak with chimichurri sauce and both were amazing! And the tres leches cake with the espresso cocktail were a great way to top off the night. Ask Tony for the "43" coffee liqueur. Highly recommended! We used to love this place but it has gone steadily downhill. We went on September 10 and had some friends from inside-the-loop drive out to meet us. We had told them how great Haras was. The service, while not terrible, was not up the usual standards. I would rate it 2-3 star. The menu has gotten too large for everything to be over the top delicious like it used to be. Three of us ordered steaks. My friend ordered his medium well and it was nearly rare. I ordered mine rare and it was fine. My wife's steak was fine also. My friend's wife ordered chiles en nogada and it was served cold. I think some of the dishes are microwaved now due to the large menu. The only real standout of the meal were the margaritas. We sent nothing back to the kitchen since we had waited so long for it to be delivered. We just paid our $300 tab and left. The next day I emailed a nice letter to them (scroll down) and to this date (Oct 5) I have not received a reply. To recap, the margaritas are a 5 star, service is 3 star, food is two star, and the failure to respond to a customer's email is negative 20 stars for an overall 1 star. We won't be back. We had been telling these friends about your fine restaurant for quite some time and were excited to introduce them to Haras. They live inside the loop in Houston so they are used to many fine dining choices. We wanted to treat them to our hidden jewel. We had the entire restaurant to ourselves and the service was very good, as always. The margaritas were also top notch and our friends enjoyed them. We had two appetizers, both of which were delicious. The taste and presentation were excellent. My son had the salmon. It was beautiful in presentation and he said it was delicious. My wife had the petite filet and I had the regular filet. Both were cooked to order, tender and flavorful. One of our friends had the filet, ordered medium well. I noticed after he had cut several bites that the filet was actually between medium-rare and rare. I asked him if he wanted to send it back but he declined. His wife had some sort of stuffed pepper with a sauce topping (sorry, I don't remember the name of the item). Whatever it was, it was a favorite dish of hers and she orders it at other restaurants often. She remarked that it was cold and that seemed unusual to her since it had always been served hot at other restaurants. I asked her if she wanted to send it back to be warmed but she declined. Although she said the flavor was good she did not eat a lot of it. She was probably just trying to be polite. It was embarrassing for us to have bragged about your food and service for so long only to see our friends who drove for nearly an hour sitting at the table with half eaten entrees. We apologized to them for the quality of their meals and sent them back to Houston. This is not a complaint letter. My family loves your restaurant, the service and friendliness of the staff and the quality and preparation of the food. I thought you would want to know that last night your restaurant fell well short of it's usual level. We will be back, hopefully to enjoy Haras as we are used to but it is a safe bet that our friends will not venture to Magnolia to dine with you. We have other friends that we would like to bring to dinner but after last night I think my family will come again by ourselves to make sure last night was an aberration and not the new normal at Haras.
