Upon check in the staff was so so, as they could have been more pleasant. At one point I said hi to a front desk employee and he looked and didn't say anything in response. My room was very clean and refreshing with a decent view. The bar staff was very friendly and they offered a nice array of drinks, they were very refreshing and delicious. They offered breakfast and dinner service, at a fee. The hotel was very convenient to alot of restaurants, stores and the airport. I would stay again, besides some of the unpleasant staff.

Breakfast is available but wasn't included with my room. That said, they had complimentary coffee and Happy Hour specials at the Bar. My King Bed Room was a good size. A microwave in addition to the mini fridge and safe was a nice touch. I liked the Shower sliding doors vs curtains. Fitness room had all the Cardio equipment as well a weight station and Dumbbells. Indoor pool was more for the kids vs for Laps. Parking is free. A good selection of stores and restaurants nearby. Check-in was easy/quick and I got lucky and was able to check-in early (11:30) on a Friday. Service was friendly and upbeat. Great option close to Newark (EWR) and will stay here again.

Natalie at Reservations was especially outstanding--friendly, outgoing, extremely knowledgeable, and very understanding. Her helpful attitude made the experience even more enjoyable. I was also very impressed with how clean the rooms were. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, and I had one of the best nights of sleep I've had in a long time. I truly have nothing but positive things to say about my stay. The management team also deserves recognition, particularly Assistant Manager Anzio Rezende, who went well beyond the scope of their role to ensure I was properly assisted. This level of genuine, thoughtful customer service is rare and simply cannot be replaced by technology or AI. ---

The rooms are cramped, and the fixtures, finishes and furniture in the rooms and the common spaces (corridors, lobby, "lounge", stairs, elevators) are all dated & worn. I noted more Code Violations (Fire & Life Safety) than I could count. Fire Doors propped open (all of them...), corridor ceilings 6" lower than even the most lax Codes would allow, handrails and guardrails noncompliant, it should be shut-down and renovated. And, the bathroom had holes in the walls and bathtub. I had brought a bottle of Champagne for my wife and I to share (not that there was anything left to celebrate in the run-down place...), so I walked all the way back to the "Lounge" (itself a joke), and asked the Bartender for two glasses. He smiled, and handed me two little plastic cups. I could see the actual glasses behind him. I reminded him that I had asked for "Glasses", and he smiled and pushed the plastic cups at me. "Here", he said. "These are not Glasses, they are Cups..." I responded. "That's what you get." He said. "No, this is not appropriate." I responded. He shrugged and turned his back to me. That pretty much sums up what it's like here. Avoid it, stay at the Hilton. At least they have a brand and reputation to maintain. This place is a dump. Avoid at all cost.

REVIEW AS EVENT SPACE ONLY (SECRET TEA ROOM):…read more I attended a baby shower held at the DeBary Inn in Summit last weekend. This was my first time inside the building, which was built circa 1880, and also at a Cream Tea. It was a lovely experience! Secret Tea Room is a pop-up company that creates classic English tea party experiences. They host events at four locations - DeBary Inn and Reeves-Reed Arboretum (Summit), Morven Museum and Gardens (Princeton), and Van Vleck Gardens (Montclair). Great attention to details! Everyone loved the table settings and chinaware. The loose leaf teas were wonderful; that day, we had an apple cider, Ceylon, and green tea. Then came out the tiers. Oh, the scones! The scones are baked on premise, so they were fresh and delicious. At one point, the hosts also walked around table to table with fresh scones from the oven. It was so nice. I overheard a guest from another table joke, "Oh, you can leave the tray of 17 right here for us please. Thank you!" lol Because it's December, the DeBary Inn was decorated for the holidays with a lighted tree. Many guests took selfies in the living room/greeting area. It was a cute venue and party concept for a baby shower!

We were pleased and have no regrets after staying here for the 1st time. Our room was huge, had a fridge and a comfy bed. Should I just stay at the airport and try to snooze or get the cheapest hotel nearby with free airport shuttle service? I opted for the latter when I saw the deal here for £37. After a 7 hour flight from London and my body being reminded by my jetlagged brain that it was actually 5am and not midnight, I was very happy to see Charlie and the hotel shuttle turn up at P4. The roads around Newark Airport are a warren and I was very glad not to be driving Irvington is about 15 minutes from the airport and at that time of night, a mere 15 minute trip. The hotel isn't really that close to any shops but I was only after a soft pillow for 5 hours So, how does one judge a hotel? This hotel really comes in 2 parts. The part outside the bedroom is a little shady to be honest. I have a suspicion that it's used by umm ladies of the night as there were a lot of men wanting short stay rooms, accompanied by ladies who seemed quite unfamiliar to them. The corridors had a musty smell and there was no lift However, to be fair, the room was nice. It was large, clean with no smell. The beds were big. The TV was big. The bathroom was big. The wifi was free. The parking was free So, if you can avert your eyes at checkin and run to your room, for the price, it's a 4 star experience. I would return if I was in the same scenario but if I was staying for a few days, I'd probably go elsewhere

We all enjoyed our stay here last time, therefore I reserved another four rooms for my family again since we had to attend another family affair in the area later this year. I used my Marriott Bonvoy hotel points to book all four king bedrooms for Saturday through Monday for a two night weekend. Each of the four hotel rooms cost me 49k points each or 196k points for four rooms for two weekend nights. Our Saturday check-ins and Monday morning check-outs went smoothly.I had not problem using my points. The parking lot was busy when we arrived on Saturday, but had less vehicles on Sunday evening. I had a standard king bedroom #233 located on the second floor rear of the hotel overlooking the construction of new buildings. See my pics. My room had a small refrigerator. The bathroom shower had liquid dispensers mounted on the shower wall to dispense liquid shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. I was disappointed that I was not upgraded to a suite as I was upgraded earlier this year, since I also reserved four hotel rooms earlier this year. My room had a 43-inch LG flat screen HDTV. We also again enjoyed the adjacent and connected Bonefish Grill restaurant. We will likely return here again if we have to attend another family affair in the area. I like the location of this restaurant to my other family and friends in Bergen County.
