Heart-shaped hot tub surrounded by wall sized mirrors represent a John & prostitution rendezvous stay. Friendly front desk receptionist, but crazy shuttle driver. Didn't wear his seat belt the entire ride to the airport at 4am (10 mins), ran a red light with passengers. Umm, I thinks not staying here... ever. So, I had a short layover in Newark with the possibility of catching 5 hours of shuteye between flights. Should I just stay at the airport and try to snooze or get the cheapest hotel nearby with free airport shuttle service? I opted for the latter when I saw the deal here for £37. After a 7 hour flight from London and my body being reminded by my jetlagged brain that it was actually 5am and not midnight, I was very happy to see Charlie and the hotel shuttle turn up at P4. The roads around Newark Airport are a warren and I was very glad not to be driving Irvington is about 15 minutes from the airport and at that time of night, a mere 15 minute trip. The hotel isn't really that close to any shops but I was only after a soft pillow for 5 hours So, how does one judge a hotel? This hotel really comes in 2 parts. The part outside the bedroom is a little shady to be honest. I have a suspicion that it's used by umm ladies of the night as there were a lot of men wanting short stay rooms, accompanied by ladies who seemed quite unfamiliar to them. The corridors had a musty smell and there was no lift However, to be fair, the room was nice. It was large, clean with no smell. The beds were big. The TV was big. The bathroom was big. The wifi was free. The parking was free So, if you can avert your eyes at checkin and run to your room, for the price, it's a 4 star experience. I would return if I was in the same scenario but if I was staying for a few days, I'd probably go elsewhere read more

This Inn met the necessities with free WiFi, free shuttle and free breakfast. However, it was understandable that it was cheap. I don't recommend if you're female to walk and get food...delivery only. The neighborhood was fine, but everything worth eating was at least a half mile away. Not a big deal unless it's dark out. Second, I sat on the bed and was watching tv and a MOUSE ran past on the floor. I called the front desk and she put me in another room down the hall. Didn't see any bugs and the room was sufficiently clean. I would stay again only if I needed a free shuttle and happened to be stuck in Newark overnight. read more

Most disgusting hotel I've ever been to in my life. The non-smoking room stank like cigarettes and mouse pee (there was mouse poop behind the bed), I wiped out the tub cause it looked dirty and found glitter all over it, the coffee maker was nasty, they didn't wash the towels so there was lint all over me, and the shower drain wasn't draining. The shuttle also stank like cigarettes and dirty feet and people were in and out doing drugs and some women looked like prostitutes. While this hotel isn't the Plaza, it wasn't the Bates Motel either. It's a little farther from NYC than I expected. Not that it pained us too much to drive 8 miles to park the car (and split the $20 lot fee) then catch a subway into the city. It was that or pay 4 times as much to have a hotel room in Manhattan. The hotels face is a little deceiving because it's nicer on the outside than the inside. The carpet was kinda squishy, but I just kept my flip flops on. My brother is convinced our room was haunted, but I just think he was hearing people walk down the hall outside our room (or walk around in the room next to us) because the floors creaked very loudly, in the hall and in our room. Our room was so large that I thought the distance between our 2 beds would keep him from hearing my creaky foot steps as I made my way to the bathroom during the night, but he obviously has bionic hearing, because he would awake to every little noise, regardless of the fact that he was wearing earplugs. The complimentary breakfast bar was pretty good, but then, I'm a sucker for any free food. It all comes down to this; you get what you pay for. This room was dirt cheap compared to everything else we looked at, so I'm not complaining. In fact, we were soo happy that our room did not have bed bugs (there was a break out in nice hotels in the city) that I'm giving it an extra star - just for that! read more

This time is my second time staying here. Here it goes: LOCATION This is area is not the greatest, but least to say you can get good food at good prices and they deliver. SERVICE Very good. The airport transfer is great. Wifi works well. The rooms are large and clean. The breakfast is good. QUALITY Overall 3.5. Good bed, good sized rooms, big parking lot if you drive, convenient location. ACCESSIBILITY The Irvington bus terminal is a few minutes away and the 107 takes you right into NY PENN STATION. Also the frequency is good. Highways are close by also. I like this place, its just in a rough area. Just be wise not to get back to the hotel too late. I would stay again. read more

Honestly considering the sketchy location and how inexpensive it was, this hotel wasn't bad at all. My boyfriend and I only stayed for one night but we wouldn't have minded to stay more considering how nice the room was. There was free wifi, a fridge, couch, nice bathroom, free breakfast, near to the airport, and the room was surprisingly cleaner than expected. We expected so much worse from the reviews but actually enjoyed our stay. If you want something close by to the airport and need something cheap, this is the place to go. read more

DO NOT STAY HERE! I'm not usually the type to write bad reviews or even return faulty products but my husband stayed at this hotel while on business and the room was infested with bed bugs. We contacted the company and they claimed that the bed bugs weren't from their hotel, which is absolutely laughable. The suitcase my husband used was brand new and he hadn't been anywhere except for our home (which is completely pest free). After staying in the hotel for a day he started to feel itchy after the second night his entire body was covered in bites (which I have many pictures of). We spent over $100 on prescription creams and getting all of my husbands items laundered and sanitized. My husband contacted the company and asked them to reimburse part of these costs and they refused to do anything, at all, not even a penny or a voucher after making us wait an entire week for a response! The customer service was absolutely horrible, I wish we had spent the extra money so that he could have stayed at a nicer place, it would have cost us much less money, trouble and pain in the long run. Our room smelled like a sweat shop to begin with but we could get over that. Mind you when I booked the hotel I asked if there was an elevator in the building or if we could please be placed in a first floor room as my spouse is in a wheelchair. We were placed on the second floor and were assured about a working elevator. Okay, that's cool I can make that work. This morning when we go to check out there is a sign on the elevator stating it is out of service. How difficult is it to call a wheelchair user's room and tell them about a broken elevator? When I went to enquire about how to get my wife down from the second floor I was asked when I wanted to check out because there wasn't a time scheduled for elevator service. When I said now because I need to be on my way, the front desk looked at me wide eyed with no offer to help. No mention of a service elevator. So I piggyback my wife downstairs, then take our suitcase and her wheelchair downstairs by myself. When I hand them my room key is there an offer of a discounted room for our trouble? Nope! Any apology? Not even that. Just a guilty look and the staff allowing us to struggle out the front door with no assistance. Thanks for nothing America's Best Value Inn. We had a red eye flight on American Airlines into Newark, but American changed our midnight flight to leave Phoenix at 3pm which got us into Newark at 11pm so I needed to find a place to stay and figured easier to stay near airport then go into NYC the next morning. I'm glad we made this choice since flight was delayed and landed at 1am. Quick 15 min cab ride we pulled into this hotel. I can see why this place is so cheap, the neighborhood is VERY sketchy and the lobby is super small, with a bullet proof glass where the receptionist sits. I was glad to know you had to key/badge into the area of the hotel of the rooms for safety. Main area of hotel is fairly clean, although very aged. The rooms are quite large and fairly remodeled and shockingly cleaner than rest of the hotel areas. Hotel provides free continental bfast, which I expect cereal, fruit, pastries, coffee, very basic and nothing fancy. Well expect less than that. AC in the room wasn't working that day so it was warm, coffee maker was broken and no coffee option, food choices were super scarce. Neededless to say, I grabbed piece of fruit, glass of juice, and decided I would get actual bfast when I got into NYC. Shuttle van offered to take me to the bus stop so I could grab bus to Bus Terminal in NYC. The van was very worn, but the staff was friendly and nice. read more

This is my second time there.. and the LAST. My room must of been in a flood because the floor was not level in areas. There were parts of the floor that there was no flooring underneath the carpet? Low and high areas all over the room. Walking in the room was an adventure. Bring your own tissues. There are NOT provided. The worst thing is that the reservation system messed up several of our reservations for the last time. The 15% discount with their chain is a joke. You never can get it. This hotel was awful. We found a cockroach immediately and then found a smushed stinkbug on the ceiling and another one on the wall. Later we found a dead one on a pillow. We found trash everywhere and never found the remote for the tv. The bathroom door wouldn't close and another bug was found in the tub. In the fridge there was another dead bug and the whole hotel smelled like stale cigarettes and weed. One of the rooms rented had a wet floor because of a leak. There was pretty much no food at breakfast and very sketchy people came in. So we talked to management about issues with the four rooms we rented and got told it would be cleaned from top to bottom. We returned at night and our rooms on the second floor hadn't even been walked into. Everything was the same no one had made the bed or even turned off the lights. One of us talked to the manager and he pretended we hadn't talked about it with him before. A cleaning lady overheard and immediately took charge. She was clearly upset as she went through our rooms and she cleaned them at around 10 at night. As we came back she told us every hotel in the county was terrible and to never come back. The room was clean though and the front desk staff was friendly. It was weird that they had a staff member hovering over the breakfast in the morning. I only stayed for one night, but it was great! The rooms are very neat and the beds are comfy. The bathrooms have shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and plenty of tiny bar soaps along with free coffee. Their customer service is great, along with a delicious (and free!) breakfast. There's also free wifi. The neighborhood is sketchy and there are no other hotels around. Yee Gan O. hit it on the nose. I had a 6 AM flight out of EWR, and this was the only hotel nearby that was not over $300. Upon arrival, I quickly understood why. The neighborhood is super sketchy, with "projects" just across the street from the hotel. The lobby is tiny, the check in desk is behind bullet proof glass, and you have to swipe your key just to get into the corridor leading to the elevator (thank goodness). Pulling into the parking lot, walking into the lobby, and even up the elevator and down the hallway, I had a little voice in the back of my head saying "run! run! lose the night's fee and go ANYWHERE else!!" Once inside the room, however, it was surprisingly clean and comfortable, though the "mustiness" in the air wasn't completely gone and there was a little bit of "grunginess" to the carpeting. So, I double locked the door to my room and didn't even think to leave again until it was time to catch the shuttle. In the morning, the shuttle driver was late, and the van itself is... well, let's call it "weathered". There were also some interesting characters were hanging around the parking lot (at 4:00 AM). I give the hotel 3 stars because it is a relatively decent property considering its location, and the hotel staff was friendly... however, I will never stay here again, nor would I ever recommend anyone else doing so either. I mean, it's a one star hotel so I really didn't expect much to begin with. I didn't mind the sloped floors, the squeaky beds, or the random stains on furniture...but I thought it was a given NOT having the ceiling leak water or god knows what. The ceiling started leaking at around midnight, so much that I thought it was raining. I called the front desk who said they'd send someone to look at it, but I was waiting for over 30 minutes and no one came. So I had to call again, this time with more urgency, since apparently the ceiling leaking isn't a big deal at this place, just business as usual. The guy said he'd send a housekeeper, but apparently one wasn't available. Long story short, he finally came an hour after I originally placed the call, and changed my room to one that wasn't going to have the ceiling collapse on me. Anyways, that's what I get for staying at this crap hole (am I allowed to say that on yelp?). Now it's 1:30am, logging off to get some sleep before my 6am flight tomorrow. Yay. read more

I received very broad directions on where to report for the shuttle to pick me up from the airport and I've waited over a half hour, when the place is not even ten minutes away. I decided to book a room for my aunt at this hotel whom i needed to have close by for a few days but what a mistake that was- all for the convenience. Quite descent on the outside but didn't hold up on the inside. Within the first 15 minutes, my daughter witnessed a mouse running from the love seat as she sat down. Frightened by what she observed, she immediately went to the front desk to report it but there was no follow up and it was mentioned there was nothing else available. As if that wasn't enough, there were bed bugs!! When asking for the manager, the staff couldn't get it right. One said she would be available the next day while another said she was out of town for a few days! They didn't care to take my information or anything which really confirmed what i already knew. If your expectations meet reality then you will be fine. Great 1-3 night hotel in a neighborhood you wouldn't want your cats to roam in. The room was spotless, the bathroom was clean, shower was hot, fresh breakfast everyday. Super quick to the turnpike. The people at the front desk were very friendly and helpful. It is more than you could ask for, for the price of $60-80 a night. The only reason it doesnt get a 5 for me is the god damn lady who prepared breakfast every morning would criticize and give lessons to people on where the tongs go, what cups are for water vs. coffee. She constantly was complaining, I had a discussion with other guests for 15 minutes while having breakfast on how much that lady would not stop complaining. Overall you can't beat it for the price if you could just quiet down the breakfast lady. read more

First, this hotel claims to be the an Airport Hotel, but it is 8 miles away in a region that is considered one of the most violent of NJ. It cost me $ 35 to get a taxi because the courtesy van was not available when ordered. After the very first uncomfortable night and continuous noises in the hallway, fights and people talking (inside room you can hears all the other rooms and hallway), I left the hotel for an appointment at a company in Newark, when I returned by 01:00pm, when I tried to pass my card to open the main door of the hotel, it did not work, when I went to the receptionist she informed me very angry that I should have left until 10:00 am, I told her saying that my reservation was good until next day, and again, the clerk very angry kept telling me, it was only for one night and I would have to pay for an extra night if I wanted my luggage back. After insisting several times and asked to look at the hotel's computer, I ask to verify between the roles of my booking if there was a copy of my book I have gave the receptionist when I arrived. Noting that the paper that was attached to my reservation and they clearly said that my reservation was for two days, then she started to apologize saying it was not her fault. When I asked for my luggage saying I wanted to leave, she informed me that she did not know where it was. They took 10 minutes to hand me over. When I gave lack of several things, shoes, deodorant, medicine, $ 85 that were in a pair, about $ 10 in coins that had changed the day before and was over the bedroom desk, but mainly receipts and papers which were surveys that did for the company that hired me with information to which I would be paid. When I asked for everything, she told me that just threw everything in the TRASH. After another 10 minutes she brought me some of my papers, I'd say 30% of what I had before, nothing of the shoe, deodorant, medicine, money and papers. The papers still brought me were all wet and dirty. I'll pass on this information and evidence, booking, photos of dirt, wet and dirty papers, the official hotel of Engraving left the phone where it said I had lost my luggage, and the testimony of another guest who saw the events to my lawyer. I hope before have to file a lawsuit to be reimburse all my lost things, the the second daily I paid but I could not use, receipts with $ 350 that were thrown away by the hotel and for that reason I could not get the company that hired me to pay me back, the, the $19.33 I paid for the Super Shuttle to take to the La Guardia airport in the next day and I could not use it, because I had to expending the next night sleeping in a chair at the airport , $ 95 U.S. dollars in cash that disappeared from my stuff and also a moral compensation throughout the inconveniences and abuses I suffered. read more
