Small king room. No in-room safe. Older mini-refrigerator. Older bed with bad pillows. Older, worn furniture. Horrible window-unit style air conditioner that was very loud. Sleep quality: Horrible. Thin walls, lots of highway noise, and a horrible A/C. Bathroom: small but had a real bathtub. Overall cleanliness: average Dining: Starbucks on site with higher than average prices. Had a breakfast sandwich (with tax $15). Breakfast sandwich was good. Staff: Decent staff Misc: Not the best neighborhood. Area shows significant urban decline. This is a Courtyard Marriott that is an older property and not much around it in Lyndhurst, NJ. Stayed here because conference location was close by. Arrived by Uber and only one employee working the desk. If you are a Marriott member with status there are no perks here at all. This hotel was expensive and just shocked nothing offered for Marriott platinum members. Room: the hallways getting to the rooms are warm. Room 628 is simple room and the room is dated and showing its age. The linens were clean. There is a mini fridge and small one cup coffee maker. The ice machine is down the hall by elevators. The bed and pillows were not comfortable. The room A/c makes it hard to sleep and the angle is literally blowing on your head. The walls are not paper thin, but you can hear conversations between rooms. The sleep quality here is poor. Also there is something in the room that irritated my allergies. Bathroom: tub which is nice. The toilet is oddly placed under the sink counter like they almost forgot to include it. It just makes it a bit awkward when trying to use the entire sink counter area. The water gets hot fast! Decent lighting and nice hot shower. Breakfast: the breakfast area is Starbucks with additional food items. Got the breakfast sandwich at $13 and it was very good., Employees: I called front desk before arrival to ask questions about the area and young lady was very nice. This hotel is kind of stand alone in an area adjacent to the meadowlands but near enough that an uber was reasonable to the show we were seeing. The check in to our room was weird, we have used our Marriot account to book rooms for years this time because the booking was under my husband they made me call him at the front desk and let them talk to him to let me check in (same address on our ids, same last name). Our room was fine and suited our one night stay. The only restaurant nearby is Medieval Times, so we traveled back over the bridge for dinner. Upon leaving we noticed an entire outside piece of the building as big as a full car had fallen off we made management aware as debris was still falling and they had no clue. read more

This Courtyard Marriott location is located approximately 10 minutes from the Secaucus New Jersey train station. This train station is a 10 minute ride into New York City. This is the most convenient and affordable way to visit New York City. The hotel was very clean and affordable. The only drawback to my stay, is the hotel parking garage was not attached to the hotel, and the garage was very dirty and dark. read more

I stayed here in my most recent trip to NYC. I usually stay at the hotels along Paterson Plank Road, but they were all beyond the budget over the holidays. The location is fortunately accessible to buses to NYC. It's also close distance to American Dream, which was the new mall my parents and I wanted to check out (worth it overall in my opinion!). The rooms were quite spacious and good value for what we paid. The decor was pretty good, and concierge overall was helpful. Good hotel if you're going to NYC but value free parking and don't mind the bus ride outside the door to the city. read more

The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. The room was larger than --and about half the price of --a hotel in NYC. The bus stops next to the hotel and takes you straight to Port Authority. The only negatives were some stains on the carpet that may have been blood and the cleaning policy. We were not told that we had to request housekeeping and were puzzled as to why we'd been there 4 days and 3 nights with no maid service. The front desk staff was happy to give us extra towels, though. Also, the sign in the lobby advertised happy hour with a picture of a glass of wine, but the hotel had lost its liquor license. If you're not too picky and want easy access to NYC without the large price tag, this is a good place to stay. read more

This is an interesting place, to say the least. The rooms are decent, though nothing to write home about. The staff seem to be somewhere between indifferent and annoyed any time I check in. The parking...well, it completely sucks. The garage could double as a haunted meth lab on Halloween, complete with random people hanging out doing God knows what that you don't dare make eye contact with. The constant water leak on the road makes getting to the hotel an adventure. And I have been told that with my Mariott platinum status, I get free breakfast. But every time I have gone downstairs, it has cost me a fortune for a simple plain coffee, and I can't start to speculate as to why. At least the view is awful (an abandoned hotel out one side and a vehicle storage depot out the other) and the toilet is awkwardly placed, which just adds to the entertainment value. Fortunately I get to go back again and again since it's the only hotel my company has approved for use in the area, so I've got that going for me, which is nice. read more

It's slightly away from the happening parts like Jersey City or NYC, but that's reflected in the rental costs which makes it a good option for stay. Based on my 1 day stay experience in Nov 2021. Pros: low Room rental rates, Friendly front desk staff, neat and clean rooms, free onsite covered parking. Things to keep in mind: rooms are competitively smaller (stayed in a king bed suite and found it to be a lot smaller than that usually at other Marriott hotels). Onsite parking is a short walk from the main entrance (they have a foot bridge from hotel to parking lot but it was locked and so had to walk in rain/snow. Breakfast buffet mentioned on the website was not available. They only had alacarte menu. read more

The building is old and it shows. Worn carpets. Dark hallways and rooms. 2 star at best. Restaurant is open every morning and at night, is only open there are enough people staying in the hotel. They were out of steaks for diner and avocado toast for breakfast. Internet is very spotty. Water pressure for the shower was poor and temperature control of the water is difficult. On the plus side the staff is very friendly and accommodating. The rooms and beds are comfortable. I did think the bathroom and room itself were a bit on the small size. The room was booked by company and a company credit card was used for security. When I checked out, I used my own CC to pay for a small Cesar salad (15.00). They charged my CC $40.00 to 'hold my room' after I left. That is fraud! read more

I usually stay at the Renaissance Hotel which is around the corner and never had an issue. We are Marriott Titanium level and travel weekly. Big mistake was to try this place. 1. Staff is not very customer service oriented. 2. The front desk wants you to go back outside once you register to put a sticker on our car or else the police will give you a ticket. 3. Got to the room, undressed, turned on the tv and the remote doesn't work. 4. Electric socket for phone charger doesn't work. 5. Another socket is so loose plug keeps falling out. I am too tired to change back into my clothes and call someone or try and change my room. BTW, it is right near the highway and very noisy. Go anywhere else and avoid this dump. Had a very nice stay here the weekend before Christmas. Easy check in and plenty of parking in the back of the building. The room was fairly updated and clean and the staff was friendly. The coffee in the room was pretty terrible but the cafe down stairs serves Starbucks. The gym was small but clean and updated and the pool was a good temperature and clean! 3.75 stars. Stayed here last night after the Heroes and Villains Fan Fest at the Meadowlands Expo Center, about 8 minutes away. I was pleasantly surprised with the modern, newly renovated lobby. It looks recently updated which was nice. Our room was on the 3rd floor and we promptly went in. The room had a large King sized bed, a desk, small fridge, tv, and reading nook. Our view was of the parking lot, but there were tall trees covering it up which made it feel like we weren't in the middle of a concrete jungle. The shower was outdated, but we didn't use it. The bed had comfortable pillows, but they were too soft so I woke up with a sore neck. The walls are thin so you may hear your neighbor's shower or toilet flushing, as well as some highway/hallway noise. If you're a light sleeper, bring ear plugs. In the lobby, there is a Market with some drinks, alcohol, and snacks for purchase. Outrageously expensive, but convenient. We ate dinner at the bar. My husband's burger took a long time to cook, but I think it was just one guy making the food. I liked the bistro, felt like we were in a restaurant and not in a hotel. Front desk staff were helpful and attentive. Check out was a breeze. If you can't find parking in the front, there's a larger lot in the back. Good stay, I recommend if you need a hotel with a good location in the area. read more

Standard issue CourtYard. This is a no frills business traveler hotel. Like all the Courtyards, I like their on-site Starbucks and their Bar. Compared to other hotels in the area, this one has covered parking in the back. Its gonna be useful when it snows. Due to its proximity to the junction and the freeway, the frontside of this hotel will be noisy. Try to get a room that is facing the back if possible. The staff is helpful. I asked for a humidifier and one was provided free of charge. It helps during the winter months to keep the air moist when you have the heater running. I really appreciate the service. A business hotel that helps make a weary business traveler enjoy a good nite's sleep is A-Okay in my books. Oh.. the pic of the cigar? Well, you can't smoke inside, but you can sure fire up outside. read more

I only stay at Marriott properties and this one hit a few reasons why. Patrick was amazing and helped me and my boyfriend spend two nights in a really nice room for the first time in two years. The pandemic killed travel for us. We were on next door to a huge group of kids that took over our end of the hall... the beds really need replaced and the bathrooms were very dated. However the staff made our stay memorable and lovely. That's what makes Marriott what it is, the staff. Definitely get the breakfast quesadilla before you leave. It brought some sunshine on a cloudy rainy day. read more

If you are heading to NYC and want to save money on a hotel, this is a very good option. Lyndhurst is a few miles from the Lincoln Tunnel. There is a bus stop right next to the hotel so you can get into and out of the city very easy. You will need cash if you get on in NJ and you can purchase a round trip. No change will be given. The bus ride in gives you a fantastic view of the NYC skyline. Once in the city you will arrive at the Port Authority Bus Terminal. Make note of the gate of your bus so you can get back to it and how you get to the gate. The bus terminal is large but there is an underground walkway to the Times Square Metro subway station so you can get anywhere in the city from there. As far as the hotel, the rooms are of decent size. Only a very small fridge in the room. The hotel is clean and you can tell they are in the process of remodeling and upgrading finishings. Quite a few pieces on the floor levels and in the rooms are getting worn. One nice thing, we were in NYC at some of their lowest temperatures and the hotel was nice and warm. The double bed rooms are full size. I wish they were queen for sleeping two people in each bed. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. The bathroom size was adequate. The shower and water pressure were fine, but there is a fine line between hot and cold. There is free wifi. The front desk staff were very friendly, especially Christine (I think). She always had a smile on her face. We decided to leave one night early because of an approaching snowstorm and they did not give us any issues on the early check out. There is a nice size fitness center and pool. The kids said the pool was a little cool, not very heated. It looks like there is a nice courtyard outside the pool area for when the weather is nice. The lobby area has been upgraded. They have a snack bar and I believe food service but we did not use it. Overall, if you want to visit NYC but stay outside the city, this is a very good option. read more

Pros: Staff was wonderful! Cons: With Covid-19 in consideration, I understand things are closing due to restrictions. With that being said, the pool was closed which was not noted on the website. The Bistro is only open on the weekdays, which was also not noted on the website. I booked here for the pool and bistro. I stayed here for 5 days. My room was never cleaned or stocked. You can tell this is an older location that got a really good remodel. Apparently, they hold events in house, as there was a wedding taking place our second day. Parking is free but expect to take a long walk from the rear parking deck if the small side lot is to capacity. One thing wasreally strange in the room, the location of the commode. Why it was installed under the sink counter, I will never know. I have never seen such in my life. Other than that the Room was OK. Everything was clean and ready whe we arrived. They kindly brought a microwave to us upon request and we were able to enjoy leftovers from different restaurants over the weekend. The coffee maker was kind of grimy but came clean with a few cycles of clear water. Sadly the coffee was weak and we opted to get it elsewhere. We found out the little Starbucks in the lobby was closed on the weekends, but they offered free coffee at the front desk. What they lacked in one area. They made up for it with the nicest staff and for that, we would definitely stay here again. read more

I am normally happy with Marriotts, but this one in Lyndhurst is by far the worst one I have ever stayed in. There was no amenities available- no printing, no dental or shaving kits available, no tea for the coffee machine, etc. The elevator also was not completely cleaned when I stayed here. This was our first visit to Marriott Lyndhurst. We usually like staying around secaucus but since couldn't get a room there, had to find something different. Now the important part, 'Courtyard Marriott Lyndhurst' :-). Marriott didn't disappoint us. Hotel was easily accessible from SR. Locality was good as we wandered around the place late in the night. Front desk service was great and we checked in within few minutes. We arrived pretty late and staff helped us get to a nearby diner place late in the night. Very helpful !! Room was neat and clean. No view though. There were few minor glitches here and there like the lightings switches were broken, washrooms door handle was acting a bit odd and took few seconds to put the lock, hence taking a star away from them because of this :-) There were ample parking spots in and around hotel apart from their private parking lot. Nearby eateries and 24/7 diners are available. There was no complimentary breakfast available, having that would have been great as we had to get up early to find a good restaurant ourselves. On and all, a pleasant stay. read more

I'm typing this review while I stay here and am absolutely disgusted and disappointed. All the pictures below are from when I first walked in the hotel room. Was going to stay quiet but absolutely won't now because I don't want you all to make the same mistake I did! First things first awful customer service. I woke up this morning and asked for towels to be brought up to my room as we were only given three and there was four of us sharing a room. After waiting a hour I went down to grab some because they still hadn't dropped any off and I was told that she would be coming right up with them and she was sorry for the inconvenience. After a total of a hour and half I received 2 additional towels!! The bar is closed and it advertises it to be the biggest baddest thing around and they didn't even give any one heads up on why it's closed!! So when asked they said they can't open the bar because there too short staffed! That's not MY PROBLEM AND IT IS FAKE ADVERTISEMENT! The pool is closed as well and there is hardly anything to purchase for beverages or soda/ snacks. Even the TV that is stated to be a 42 inch smart tv is not 42 inches and not a smart TV! Had a o use one of the towels that were brought up for me to clean up condensation on the floor and window sill!! Mold on the bathroom wall when we first arrived followed by dirt and and hair in our shower drain!! Asked for house keeping this morning and never received it because why would you get something you pay for right?!?!? All in all please don't waist your time here. I've stayed in over 150 Marriott hotels / residence inns and this is by far the worse one! I will be letting my sister know who works in the corporate office about how bad this place is run and how the amenities you're promised are obsolete! She will definitely make sure to do a follow up and investigation into this place! Last but not least please just don't waist your time and money here! read more

I have had a couple of pretty good stays at this Courtyard. It is located near the Meadowlands, but in a tucked away little area in Lyndhurst. It is by a couple of decent restaurants and right next door to Medieval Times. They have coupons at the front desk if you are into that. The staff is extremely helpful and gratuitous. The staff who checked me really made me feel at home and gave me a few more freebies than usual. Everyone including the housekeeping staff was smiling and saying hello - it was quite nice! The hotel itself was remodeled somewhat recently. The pool and exercise room are both pretty nice. The Starbucks was well staffed and got me a coffee and apple in under a minute! The only drawback was the small room and worn out towels I had. No platinum upgrade was offered or room preference (high floor, away from elevator) granted. The bed was comfy and I did get a good night's sleep. read more

First time staying at this location. Been a member of Marriott for many years. We were warmly greeted and I was looking forward to our stay. We learned at check in that this location would not be serving dinner nor would the bar be open. Then we learned that the pool was closed. I asked why wasn't it noted on the website when I booked. The staff had no answer. Then we get on the elevator and a horrid smell of burning rubber or tar was present. By the time we got to our floor we were hacking from the stench. On checkout today I brought up the issues and got a curt ok. The employee managing the front desk would best be described as cold. I can't believe that this is a Marriott property. Definitely recommend staying somewhere else read more

The hotel is well-kept and clean. The staff was very courteous during my stay. The rooms are spacious and clean. The things I didn't enjoy however, were the paper thin walls and the extremely loud a/c unit in my room. Let's be realistic, because although all else is nice, not being able to sleep (when your not in your own town & home) and be functional the next day is pretty important in my book. I love Marriott, and I am def ok with Courtyards, but this Courtyard happened to let me down a bit. read more

Hotel was great for our trip. Our room was very clean and orderly. Surprisingly, the temperature in the room was appropriate (not an inferno or a winter ice storm, like most when you first walk in). The desk area was awesome and a perfect size to do work with a laptop. The internet was pretty quick for most hotels, which is much appreciated. The bed and pillows were not my style, but not terrible. The pillows were very fluffy, but sink as soon as your put your head on them. I tried all night to keep rolling and stacking them to create enough support for my head. The bed was firm with a pillow top. Secret: Go behind the hotel (to the left of the entrance) drive up into the parking garage, second floor entrance directly connected to the hotel. It was snowing when we pulled in. Having a covered garage is a HUGE bonus in my book. read more

What can i say. Only my experience which is the truth. 3 00 a.m very strong pot smell in my room. Front desk guy was sleeping. I woke him up. He smelled skunk but didn't think it was pot. It was and my head was splitting. He was rude and not helpful. I asked him for a roll of tp. I didn't get it. I was up all night miserable. Next morning I asked the girl at the desk for tp. I returned 4 hours later. No tp.I asked for the gm. He was as rude and unprofessional as his workers. Can you believe his excuses ? He said" noone can get you tp at 3 00 a.m and today I would need to wait for housekeeping to get to my room. I thought it was a joke. As far as the pot smell he told me next day when housekeeping went into the room and smelled pot they would charge $250 to the people who stayed there. How did any of this help me? This gm shouldn't be working with marriott. Thank goodness most marriotts are much better. Don't stay in lyndhurst. And the construction going on right behind the hotel. Not worth the money. We're in town for a concert so had trouble finding a room. If you get a choice - don't stay here. Very over priced for what you get. No ice machine. No room service. Very OVER PRICED food you can go downstairs and pick up. Don't bother. Our room wasn't even given fresh water glasses and they didn't take out all the trash. I've already contested the charge with my bank. There was a bug in our room. We got new room which had horrible air quality. We left with headaches, feeling ill and sick to our stomachs. And the breakfast we were promised for our trouble was charged back to our room. The pool was cold and gross. The surface of the pool needs to be refinished. This is obviously just a place for local businesses and airline employees to crash. We wanted to feel like we went away for our anniversary without spending much and it was a horrible experience. I was in town for two busy days to look at houses and needed a place to crash at night. I travel a lot for work so I figured the Courtyard was a good bet. I got a pretty good rate and the hotel was easy to find. The room I had was cosmetically updated, though not the most clean. There was garbage and those rubber bands from braces between the beds, the furniture, under the sink and in the little binder on the desk. I was so tired that I just Lysol'd and Clorox wiped everything I needed to use. The noise wasn't bad room to room or with people in the hallway but the pipes/water were super loud. When the person above me and next to me took showers it sound like something broke and water was going to come gushing out from somewhere. Obviously it didn't, and I put my bose noise canceling headphones on and the problem went away. The bistro bar food was good as well. Overall for the rate I got and the location, it was decent and I would probably stay there again (but would definitely not take a room that dirty again) read more

This is a dump located in another dump. Lets see -internet was slow, and you could not watch movies or youtube (it was restricted) -toiletries were probably sent back from Kenya or India or some other third world country which refused to accept them as humanitarian aid -the bed was not comfy -the blanket was more like a sheet, not warm at all -no room service and NO FOOD -front desk lady took at least 40 min to check me in. She kept talking with her girlfriend on the phone and bitching about Monterrey? Who is Monterrey? -the bathroom design was horrendous, it seems that they wanted to put in double vanity, but them instead put in a toilet in front of the vanity. So when you are peeing your back is to the mirror and the vanity. -the hotel had a smell, a mix between a nursing home and the smell of old homeless people -no breakfast I cant believe I paid more then 100 per night to stay here. Avoid this hotel and this part of the country. Even Snooki would not stay in this place, they got no facilities for GTL. read more

OK. I like Marriott. Here in My Room now. Knowing that I am paying $216.20 for this overnight stay but NO menus and NO Room service is a real bummer. I do not was to curse here so Bummer is my substitute word here. Plus there is NO Continental Breakfast; Instead there is a 'buffet' where they charge $10.95 which is the continental breakfast in most other hotels that charge way less to stay overnight. Compared to the Marriott Fairview I stayed at yesterday in Akron, Ohio, this is a great hotel, especially the staff. It is really 3.5 stars, but I rounded down to account for the concert/sports event/tour bus crowds, some yelling in the hallway, no bellman and the sub-par breakfast restaurant. Maybe I should have rounded up instead because this hotel us supposedly a 20 minute bus ride from Times Square! I will find out tonight. Also, the hotel is much busier on the weekends than it is during the week. The kind and friendly bartender and dinner chef explained to me that since I was staying here for two weeks, I needn't have rented a car to drive within a couple mile radius of the hotel. The hotel has a bus that would have dropped me off and picked me up from my work nearby. I recommend you call the hotel and ask about this service before you rent a car. I think I am paying about $200/night to stay here. I have wireless access on the 2nd floor, but my boss on the 5th floor had to plug in using an ethernet dongle/cord. Note that there is no smoking in the hotel, so there was a wall of hungover concert goers smoking outside the hotel when I arrived. I think there is a Residence Inn on the same premesis, and I like Residence Inns, but my review doesn't pertain to the Residence Inn. read more
