Simple, cleanly and available. No issues have been at least 2 times. I recommend for a quick stay.

Room (628): An old, plain king room lack expected items. Small king room. No in-room safe. Older mini-refrigerator. Older bed with bad pillows. Older, worn furniture. Horrible window-unit style air conditioner that was very loud. Sleep quality: Horrible. Thin walls, lots of highway noise, and a horrible A/C. Bathroom: small but had a real bathtub. Overall cleanliness: average Dining: Starbucks on site with higher than average prices. Had a breakfast sandwich (with tax $15). Breakfast sandwich was good. Staff: Decent staff Misc: Not the best neighborhood. Area shows significant urban decline. Within walking distance of the Bergen County Community College.

Arrived by Uber and only one employee working the desk. If you are a Marriott member with status there are no perks here at all. This hotel was expensive and just shocked nothing offered for Marriott platinum members. Room: the hallways getting to the rooms are warm. Room 628 is simple room and the room is dated and showing its age. The linens were clean. There is a mini fridge and small one cup coffee maker. The ice machine is down the hall by elevators. The bed and pillows were not comfortable. The room A/c makes it hard to sleep and the angle is literally blowing on your head. The walls are not paper thin, but you can hear conversations between rooms. The sleep quality here is poor. Also there is something in the room that irritated my allergies. Bathroom: tub which is nice. The toilet is oddly placed under the sink counter like they almost forgot to include it. It just makes it a bit awkward when trying to use the entire sink counter area. The water gets hot fast! Decent lighting and nice hot shower. Breakfast: the breakfast area is Starbucks with additional food items. Got the breakfast sandwich at $13 and it was very good., Employees: I called front desk before arrival to ask questions about the area and young lady was very nice. Chris at the front desk was very helpful with getting a car service to take me into the city.

I had notified the concierge Daniel ahead of time that my mini and I would be arriving after 10pm due to poor weather conditions during our travels. Unfortunately, when we arrived, our reservation had been canceled. Chris was on duty at the time of our arrival and quickly stepped in to resolve the issue, which I truly appreciated. However, because of the cancellation, we were initially placed in a room that seemed like it hadn't been in regular rotation--it had an unpleasant odor that made it uncomfortable. The next morning, I spoke with the manager, Frank Super (great name!), who was both personable and empathetic. He promptly addressed the situation by moving us to a different room and adjusting the rate to account for the inconvenience. The new room was noticeably cleaner, fresh, and much more comfortable. Throughout the remainder of our stay, the staff continued to impress. Katrina, another concierge, was especially helpful in ensuring the room change went smoothly and that we were well taken care of. Overall, the team at this Hampton Inn was friendly, welcoming, and committed to making things right. The daily continental breakfast was a lovely addition and a great way to start the day. It's also worth noting that the hotel offers shuttle services, but rides need to be scheduled with the concierge on duty in advance. One small note: the lobby restroom could use more attention after hours, as it wasn't always maintained by guests. Despite the initial hiccup, the level of customer service and recovery made a lasting impression. I would definitely consider staying here again in the future.

He didn't want me to drive in any direction with this rain storms, but this was close enough to get to. That being said, we accidentally went to the one called "Extended Stay America - Meadowlands - East Rutherford" instead of JUST "Rutherford" two different locations. They are NOT the same place. So be VERY aware, where you book and its actual name before you go there and find out you made a mistake. Honestly, they should change the name of it to give it a better differentiation from the other. I bet so many people mix them up! My man and I were able to get the last room for the hotel and we saw some people in the main lobby get visibly agitated because they couldn't book a room in person. Your main way of booking rooms should not be in person but online all the time. Especially during peak season. PARKING Lots of free parking spots to choose from! Even with a fully booked hotel we didn't have any issue parking. ROOM We've never had a room with a kitchen before, but seeing as everything was last minute we didn't use it. They're kind of run down looking too so not sure how much we would trust it. When in doubt, UberEats! We came and checked in pretty late too because it was a long day. The bed was the perfect height in my opinion. I wouldn't say it's the best sleep I've had. The mattress was average. Not too hard or soft. I've stayed in worse so generally I'm not unhappy about the room at all. The ac worked great, the hot water worked well too. The colors were weird and dingy. The TV was good, had great channels to choose from. The only thing I definitely want to say is, the rooms are not soundproof. I heard kids and a family outside our door too early in the morning. The sun was barely up yet. BATHROOM The shower was very weirdly made. I don't think I've ever seen such a low shower without an actual door. Gives me the vibe of like a public gym shower. Everything else was okay, the color of the bathrooms could be better. Since this was so last minute we had nothing with us, not even shampoo or a change of clothes. Again, I was not planning for rain storms! So we definitely utilized the bathroom freebies this time around. The soap is gentle, but the shampoo left my hair feeling mucky. OVERALL It's a roof over our heads that is one of THEE closest stays to the American Dream Mall that we've had. A quick reservation and one of the last rooms that we were able to thankfully score because of all the storms and flooding. It's not the best but not the worst, but for $100 a night, it's really not that bad!

The 3 stars are for the quality of the room NOT THE SERVICE I RECEIVED. The workers were amazing…read moreand courteous from start to finish and I don't have a negative thing to say about them. When we arrived our room smelled awful, I mean STANK. I always bring a candle just so the space can smell like "home"but the candle was no match for the funk. I went downstairs and was immediately moved to another room, I really appreciated that. The rooms have been updating, to a point but you can tell the updates were surface level. In the bathrooms there was exposed piping and rust that was painted over because there was no fan for the steam. Random long black hairs were found in the tub and the bed also. Large parts of the ceiling paint were missing as well as improper sealing around the heater. The beds are sitting on some kind of hollow, and what sound like metal, platforms that when even slightly bumped up against make this LOUD ECHOING BANG that was so startling. So if traveling with young kids that you don't want to wake be sure to avoid any random bumps. They have breakfast from 6am-9am and it was solid. Eggs, sausage, waffles, muffins, tea, coffee, fruit and cereal. All the standards and the gentleman down there assisting was such a gem. Very helpful and accommodating without you even speaking. They also had an indoor pool and 24/7 gym but we didn't take advantage of those amenities. We only had a one day stay so while I can point out these things I can say my stay was a quiet one and the beds were comfortable. The water was hot and the heat worked as intended but it could be cleaner and/or updated fully. This location is 3mins from a target, 15mins from American dream mall and less than 10mins from the gas station. For $140/night you really can't beat that.

Since 2018 they have merged with Wyndham Rewards. I have booked some really good deals with Wyndam and accumulated enough points to get free stays. La Quinta in Rutherford is one of the finer hotels in the North that I have visited. Driving into the property you see Red Robins and then the hotel. Walking in I was a bit startled from the set up. It looked like an airport check in just before you take off your shoes. LOL! I made online reservations with ease and check in was a breeze. The concierge was professional, courteous, and very informative. They do have an additional $100 hold on your card. I booked a two bed for $129; with tax it came to about $248. Walking into the room left me speechless. The room was immaculate; the chairs were clean and sturdy and there was no carpet on the floor just laminated flooring which was a very good decision for sanitary reasons. The bathroom was handicap accessible. They have a gym, the largest continental breakfast room you'd ever seen, a pool that was OUT OF ORDER!! How??? They have other amenities as well. I had a very peaceful sleep with no disturbances. I have all intentions of returning.

We walked into the room and it said 56 degrees. We changed the temperature to 72 degrees and went to bed shortly afterwards. We woke up several times in the night to layer up because it seemed cold. When we woke up, the temperature said 58 degrees, no wonder we were still cold. We went down to eat and breakfast was the typical IHG breakfast BUT there were French fries, a little different but not bad. We went back up to take a shower---there was NO HOT WATER (keep in mind it was less than 15 degrees outside so a hot shower would have been nice). We left a short time after this. When Ismael, the manager, asked how everything was and I told him about the room/shower. His response was to give me more IHG Reward points....so let me get this right, we stayed in the hotel, in a freezing room, cold shower and he offered points so we stay again? He explained that he bought his daughter a new IPAD w points but I told him I would need another 100k points to get that. He said he would give them to me anyways because of our troubles. Here it is 11 hours later...and he didn't even credit me the points he promised. Looks like next year we will find a new hotel.

The room itself was standard: a bed, a small kitchen, and a bathroom. Everything was clean and fairly average. We were placed in a first-floor room right next to the small indoor pool, which I do not recommend. The pool is supposed to be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., but both mornings it was open around 8 a.m., an hour earlier than posted. The noise from the pool (splashing and screaming) echoed directly into our room. I don't mind noise too much, but it's definitely something to be aware of. If you're looking for a quiet stay, avoid rooms near the pool. The breakfast was mid at best. Very typical hotel food: sausage, eggs, bagels, pancakes, oatmeal, muffins, and coffee. Most of it tasted fine, but I really did not like the sausage--it made my stomach turn after just one bite the first morning. I was also disappointed that there was no real orange juice. Instead, they had a Minute Maid-style orange/mango drink, which was not actual orange juice. I would have preferred to go out for breakfast, but since it was free, I just avoided what I didn't like. As for service, we left the room from 11 a.m. to about 6:30 p.m., and housekeeping did come in. The bed was made, but I noticed that my personal towel was taken. It was an off-white/tan extra-large towel, clearly different from the hotel's bright white towels. I noticed immediately because my boyfriend and I planned to go to the pool. I was dissatisfied with this and went to the front to ask if they could get my towel back. Luckily they took it and threw it into the laundry. I was able to get it back cleaned and folded nicely which I appreciate. Overall, this hotel gets the job done for a short stay, especially if your main goal is visiting the American Dream Mall. The price and location are its strongest points, but the experience itself is nothing memorable. Between the noise from the pool, the average breakfast, and minor service issues, it lacks the extra comfort and quality that would make it stand out. It's fine for convenience, but I'd likely keep looking for a better option in the same price range next time.
